JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Morning Devotional...

Sir, Thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep.
John  4:11

The woman then left her waterpot. . .
John 4:28

When the Samaritan woman found the Messiah at Sychar's well, she found the Water of Life.  No longer had she need of the waterpot, a symbol of insufficiency.

The same Jesus in whom we have believed has asked us to remember Him.

Without the help of material things--only bread and wine--we enter into His holy presence.

This we would do until He comes.
--E. MacLelland

O body broken! poured out blood!
Blest memories ever dear;
Thou Son of man! Thou Lamb of God!
How good to meet Thee here!

Gathered to Thy name, Lord Jesus[/u]
(Click to hear music]

Words by C. A. Wellesley

Gathered to Thy name, Lord Jesus,
Losing sight of all but Thee,
Oh, what joy Thy presence gives us,
Calling up our hearts to Thee!

Loved with love which knows no measure
Save the Father's love to Thee,
Blessed Lord, our hearts would treasure
All the Father's thoughts of Thee.

All His joy, His rest, His pleasure,
All His deep delight in Thee;
Lord, Thy heart alone can measure
What Thy Father found in Thee.

How He set His love upon Thee,
Called Thee His beloved Son;
Yet for us He did not spare Thee,
By Thy death our life was won.

Oh, the joy, the wondrous singing
When we see Thee as Thou art,
Thy blest name, Lord Jesus, bringing
Sweetest music to God's heart!

Notes of gladness, songs unceasing,
Hymns of everlasting praise,
Psalms of glory, joy increasing,
Through God's endless day of days!

Hello folks

We just got back.  I didn't get a chance to read any post, but might do that tomorrow.

Chandraya took 1st in her division again, which is Ruby.  There is a Diamond award and that goes to high score/first place.  Maybe next time.

I am tired so I will say goodnight.

Prayer: Pray Till You Pray

Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving.
--Colossians 4:2

Dr. Moody Stuart, a great praying man of a past generation, once
drew up a set of rules to guide him in his prayers. Among these
rules is this one: "Pray till you pray."...

The habit of breaking off our prayers before we have truly prayed is
as common as it is unfortunate. Often the last 10 minutes may mean
more to us than the first half hour, because we must spend a long
time getting into the proper mood to pray effectively. We may need
to struggle with our thoughts to draw them in from where they have
been scattered through the multitude of distractions that result
from the task of living in a disordered world....

If when we come to prayer our hearts feel dull and unspiritual, we
should not try to argue ourselves out of it. Rather, we should admit
it frankly and pray our way through. Some Christians smile at the
thought of "praying through," but something of the same idea is
found in the writings of practically every great praying saint from
Daniel to the present day. We cannot afford to stop praying till we
have actually prayed.
This World: Playground or Battleground? pp. 69-70

"Oh Lord, what an important and needed challenge! It's so easy to
rush into Your presence and 'check off' our Bible reading and
prayer for the day--and so hard to wait in Your presence in
unhurried meditation. I'll wait today and 'pray through.' Amen."

      HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOYCE

Etta Sue

Good God's day to you all!!!

I am all ready for church.  It is raining and 57° F.

Inky did just great.  Lazer surgery is a lot better.  She doesn't look any different now than when she went to the vet except her tummy is shaved.  I remember Ali looking like an homeless cat...all dirty and unkept.  But Inky looks great.  She rides in the car wonderful.  I would look in the carrier and all I saw was those big eyes.  Finally the pupils got smaller so I knew she was fine.

She slept with me last night.  That was comforting to me.  I did hear a growl in the night.  Ali didn't like it to have Inky on the bed.  She must have smelled the medication and the vet on Inky.  But she is warming to Inky now.

This is one of my lovely songs:

          Morning has broken
          like the first morning,
          blackbird has spoken
          like the first bird.
          Praise for the singing,
          Praise for the morning,
          Praise for them, springing
          fresh from the Word!

          Sweet the rain's new fall
          sunlit from Heaven,
          like the first dewfall
          Praise for the sweetness
          of the wet garden,
          sprung in completeness
          where His feet pass.

          Mine is the sunlight;
          mine is the morning,
          born of the one light
          Eden saw play!
          Praise with elation,
          Praise every morning,
          God's re-creation
          of the new day!

Good morning everyone!  :D  It is, indeed, a beautiful day here on the west coast.

RIA~That is really a lovely song.  I've never heard it, but I really like the words!  Thank you for all the poems and songs you share with us here every day!

... And did someone say it's a special day for JOYCE?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY
JOYCE!!
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Judy McKenna

May I add my birthday wishes to you as well, Joyce!

Soni - have you not been feeling well?  I am sorry about that., I do hope you feel rested today, and things go well for you.

Etta Sue.  I must go and read the back posts from you.  I gather that you had Inky spayed...did you?  I remember when we had our dog, Cindy spayed., she was like a baby...wanted to be picked up all the time., and especially carried up stairs.  Is Inky like that?. or can she jump okay.

I'm sure Ali would be jealous to see Inky all snuggled up beside you, when she has been "Queen of the Hill" for so long...LOL  Are they still "pals"?
"I am too blessed to be stressed".

Chris & Margit Saunders

As Ria says, this is a lovely hymn, and very popular in Europe, it was well sung by Cat Stevens who converted to  the moslem faith and now calls himself Yusef Islam!

Morning Has Broken

Morning has broken like the first morning;
Blackbird has spoken like the first bird.
Praise for the singing! Praise for the morning!
Praise for them springing fresh from the Word!

Sweet the rain's new fall sunlit from heaven;
Like the first dewfall on the first grass.
Praise for the sweetness of the wet garden;
Sprung in completeness where His feet pass.

Mine is the sunlight! Mine is the morning
Born of the one light Eden saw play!
Praise with elation, praise every morning;
God's recreation of the new day!

Cool the gray clouds roll, Peaking the mountains,
Gull in her free flight,Swooping the skies.
Praise for the mystery, Misting the morning,
Behind the shadow, waiting to shine.

I am the sunrise, Warming the heavens,
Spilling my warm glow over the earth.
Praise for the brightness of this new morning,
Filling my spirit with Your great love.

Mine is a turning, Mine is a new life,
Mine is a journey closer to You.
Praise for the sweet glimpse, Caught in the moment,
Joy breathing deeply, Dancing in flight.

Sunday and I have been working on the computer putting names in a new address system.

Listening to "Evangalistic Faith Mission" on the radio and it has wonderful old songs.  Sipping some good Gevalia coffee.  They just talked about good news from Iraq where one of their members - a medical doctor has been in Iraq sharing his medical talent and able to talk about his faith as well.  Isn't that interesting?

Chris:  I read your note about Pray to Pray and indeed understand that it is a thing we must strive for in each and every prayer time.
Carol

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  We had to be at church 30 minutes earlier today as Sunday School and church both started earlier today as we had a combined service between the tradional and contemporary services and that was followed by a congregational meeting.

We selected a senior pastor nominating committee this morning and a new deacon to fill the spot of someone who has left.

Happy Birthday, Joyce.

Ria, the hymn "Morning Has Broken" has been one of my favorites for many years.  We sang a new hymn (to me) this morning called "Lift High the Cross".  I am going to check to see if we have it available and if so I will post it a little later.

Ruth Ann I hope the next few days will be a time of refreshing for both Leslie and for you.  A little change of pace usually helps restore us.

Good to see many posting today.

Yesterday we got from a friend some "Christian One Liners" and I thought that over the next few days I will share some of them in my postings.  I have a feeling that we all will see ourselves in one of more of these.
Quote"Don't let your worreis get the best of you, remember, Moses started out as a basket case."

Some people are kind, polite, and sweet-spirited - until you try to sit in their pews.

Lift High the Cross
(Click to hear music)

I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to Myself.
John 12:32

Words & Music: Unknown

Refrain

Lift high the cross, the love of Christ proclaim,
Till all the world adore His sacred Name.

Come, Christian, follow where our Savior trod,
Our King victorious, Christ the Son of God.

Refrain

Led on their way by this triumphant sign,
The hosts of God in conquering ranks combine.

Refrain

O Lord, once lifted on the glorious tree,
As Thou hast promised, draw the world to Thee.

Refrain

Set up Thy throne, that earth's despair may cease
Beneath the shadow of its healing peace.

Refrain

For Thy blest Cross which doth for all atone,
Creation's praises rise before Thy throne.

actually marilyn i will graduate may 2005 so in a little over a year i'll graduate. which is exciting but at the same time it's scary!
Sarah

Ruth Ann Bice

Sarah, I agree. Big life changes like graduation are really scary.

All of a sudden people expect a young person to be a mature adult, and sometimes that's true and sometimes it isn't.

Let God lead you, and lean heavily on Him as you look to this new period in your life.

Fondly,
Ruth Ann
