JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Morning Devotional...

He that hath seen Me hath seen the Father.
John 14:9

None but the Son of the Father could make such a claim.

He alone, who dwelt in the bosom of the Father, could fully declare--though in human form--the heart and the character of God.

All that He said, all that He did, and all that He was, was a revelation of God to men.

Well might His disciples exclaim, "What manner of Man is this?"
--Jim Flanigan

I have had a wonderful day ... and I just received the greatest gift of all a few minutes ago.  NITA called from Roseburg to tell me that her brother Morris has prayed to ask Jesus into his heart and life.  He has accepted HIM as his Lord and Savior!  There is great rejoicing tonight.
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Pat

Ohhh, Jane, what wonderful news.  Thanks so much for telling us!  How we've been praying for just that news.

FOR MORRIS.....  He can sing this tonight for sure!

Since Jesus Came Into My Heart
(Click to hear music)

I stand at the door and knock.
If anyone hears My voice and opens the door,
I will come in.
Revelation 3:20

Words: Rufus H. McDaniel, 1914.
McDaniel wrote these words after the death of his son.
Music: Charles H. Gabriel, 1914

What a wonderful change in my life has been wrought
Since Jesus came into my heart!
I have light in my soul for which long I had sought,
Since Jesus came into my heart!

Refrain
Since Jesus came into my heart,
Since Jesus came into my heart,
Floods of joy o'er my soul
Like the sea billows roll,
Since Jesus came into my heart.

I have ceased from my wandering and going astray,
Since Jesus came into my heart!
And my sins, which were many, are all washed away,
Since Jesus came into my heart!

Refrain

I'm possessed of a hope that is steadfast and sure,
Since Jesus came into my heart!
And no dark clouds of doubt now my pathway obscure,
Since Jesus came into my heart!

Refrain

There's a light in the valley of death now for me,
Since Jesus came into my heart!
And the gates of the City beyond I can see,
Since Jesus came into my heart!

Refrain

I shall go there to dwell in that City, I know,
Since Jesus came into my heart!
And I'm happy, so happy, as onward I go,
Since Jesus came into my heart!

Refrain

That's for sure, PAT!  I had to leave quickly after posting that message because I got a phone call ... There is great rejoicing in Southern Oregon tonight ... and even more in Heaven!  All the angels are rejoicing that MORRIS has come home!   ;D
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Janice

That's great news, Jane.  I put a small post over in prayers folder.  I know this has lifted such a burden for Nita.
This is the day the Lord has made, we will rejoice and be glad in it.   Ps 118:24

Janice

Hello my friends.
I have not been here much lately, and have not had time to read much in the folders either.  As I said last time, it is one thing after another these days.

Earl's sister is in the hospital over in Texas about 35 - 40 miles from us.  This all unfolded before our eyes last Thursday, we were with her at the nursing home and she became ill and was sent right away to the ER in the next town over.  Earl went with her in the ambulance and I drove our car.
She has pneumonia.  And she can't seem to eat, she says the thoughts of food make her nauseous.  The barium swallow test showed that she needs to be on a pureed food diet because she can't swallow regular food anymore.
Poor Alice, she has been through so much the last several months.  I don't know how bad this pneumonia is, but at her age it can be dangerous.  She is ready for the Lord to take her home, but his timing is not ours so we trust in His loving care.  In the meantime we are very tired.
Just thought I would send in this news and also greet everyone.
Have a great Lord's Day tomorrow (today, rather).
Love, Janice
This is the day the Lord has made, we will rejoice and be glad in it.   Ps 118:24

Gareth Parkes

Janice, :( I am really sorry about Alice being so ill.  Please tell Earl that we will pray that Gods will is done.  Hope you get some rest in the meantime.  Blessings.

Praise God for all those we love who come to accept Jesus.

GOOD MORNING THE DAY OF OUR LORD

Pat thank you for the great devotional this morning and all the hymns yesterday Psalm 42 is so lovely.

PAPA JOHN a very good new photo from you you are a young Papa John   :o

JANET thank you for your words to me yesterday
about symbolic it is not a symbolic that the graves are going open
when Jesus is coming back.

JANICE  my prayers are for Alice and for you and Earl.

JOHN 14 : 27
Peace i leave with you, my peace I give you.
I do not give to you as the world gives.
Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

This Bible verse is used by the bury of our  old Queen Juliana.

This morning i have been to the nursinghome to
church and there the pastor has also hold a sermon about this
Bible verse Peace i leave with you, my peace I give you.
A very lovely Bible verse.
But yesterday there has been a terrible accident in the nursinghome there is a man from the 3e floor about the fence fall
downstairs to the 1e floor. He is alive but it is looking not good.
I also work on the 3e floor when i am in the nursing home.

2 Corinthians 3 : 18
And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect
the Lord's glory, are being transformed into
his likeness with ever-increasing glory.

  A TOUCH OF GLORY
    Thank you for bringing
     a touch of Your glory,
     a gift of Your love,
     to the small things and
     everyday places of my life.

And now my fahter is coming now we go trink coffee

I wish you all a Blessed Sunday
Bye Love Ria

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone on this Palm Sunday.  I did remember to reset the clock by my bed last night and then reset the others this morning.  Now we will enjoy the extra hour of sunlight in the evenings.

Jane, that is indeed good news concerning Nita's brother.  I am sure Nita and her family are greatly relieved to have this concern out of the way.

Janice, sorry to hear that Earl's sister is in the hospital.  When someone is weak and ill to start with the added burden of the pneumonia makes the situation so dangerous.

Sue, I thought that was a good article that you linked to in your message.  I don't know whether we are going to see that movie or not.  Liz, I think the criticism was very predictable as anything that is successful is usually attacked in many ways.

Ria, what a tragic thing to happen in the nursing home.  I am surprised that a resident of the nursing home would have access to steps.

As I am writing I am listening to a beautiful song called "Via Dolorosa".  Unfortunately I cannot share it here.

Papa John, it seems that the days are passing quickly for your time in Florida.  I also like your new photo.

Pat, I guess I was confused between Rachelle and Rachel.

Liz, sorry the new cat didn't work out but you certainly don't want one who has the habit of biting.

Marilyn, our State is also having serious money woes in trying to fund it medicaid programs.

Will soon be time to head out to church.  It is another cool but beautifully sunny day here in Georgia.  Hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday.

Janet

Praise God for the good news of Morris' accepting Jesus!  I know his family are all so happy about this, as are we.

Sue........hmmmmmm........not sure about that editorial.  I think the movie is doing much good for the cause of Christ in our world today, and would recommend the movie to anyone.  It is now showing here in my town, and my Mom wants to go, so I will take her.  I can't do that today as I still have Abby here, and it is too graphic for so young a child.  Beth is going to the matinee today.

Grandson Curtis called me last night to tell me that he won the Engineering Department's award for the amplifier he designed and built.  ;D ;D ;D  He received the award at their banquet last night.  I was so happy he thought of me and called to tell me his good news.  His parents and Mark decided to stay there overnight and go to church this morning with Curtis.  His college was having its annual open house this week.

My sister's grandbaby is being dedicated this morning, so I plan to attend her church for that occasion.  Abby is still asleep; her clock didn't get reset! ;)  It usually takes me about a week to get used to the change in the spring.

Janice, I do hope Earl's sister will not suffer.  My Dad got pneumonia while in the nursing home, and that led to his death.  So I surely understand your concerns for her.

Hi Pat!!

I must be about getting around here, see you later!

Good morning, friends,

Leslie and I returned to Nashville last evening. I went straight to bed - that trip really seems to tire me out. (Now, the mileage hasn't changed, so I suppose I'll have to admit a bit of old age creeping in.  ::)

Pam had a rough night last night, but we optimistic about her recovery and asks that I send special thanks to those who prayed for her.

Jane - sorry I didn't get here for your birthday, but hope it turns out to be a wonderful new year with our Lord.

What great news you bring about Morris! Just, imagine, we'll now have another friend to rejoice with in Heaven! And, imagine the joy in Nita's family as another sibling comes to know our Saviour!

Good afternoon from U.K...actually it's about teatime here.6p.m. British Summertime..and pouring with rain.  April showers you know!

Pat thankyou for the devotional and the lovely hymn for me lastnight.  My little doggie Sunday had once again gotten me up  ...I did go back to bed Marilyn!

Nita I am praising God along with you and I can envisage Morris sitting alongside Jesus at the Banqueting Table.

"Rolled away, rolled away and the burden of my heart rolled away.
Every sin had to go, neath the cleansing flow...
Halleluiah..
Rolled away,
And the burden of my heart rolled away."

Sue Thank you for the tap in.  It was very helpful for a friend of mine this afternoon also.  I won't be able to see the film myself...and this article has given me peace of mind.  "I know whom I have believed..." Love You  :-*

Janice I do pray for Earl and his sister that God will soon give His peace to her and His comfort to her family.

Ruth Ann. I do thank-God for the good news re Pam. Now then you get some rest there sister. Love You  :-*

Liz.  My Becky cat has eaten a bit of pressed chicken  today and a drink of milk...She sees the vet again in the morning.  Thank you for caring. Hope you soon find a new little "friend " to fill the gap for your dear little cat.

God Bless everyone.
Love Jenny

This is a Song of Praise i only have the words not the musik but i love the words and i read them as poems:

1   Glory to thee, my God, this night
        for all the blessings of the light;
keep me, O keep me King of Kings,
        beneath thine own almighty wings.

2   Forgive me, Lord for thy dear Son,
the ill that i this day have done,
that with the world, myself, and thee
i, ere i sleep, at peace may be.

3   Teach me to live, that i may dread
        the grave as little as my bed;
teach me to die, that so i may
rise glorious at the judgement day.

4   O may my soul on thee repose,
and may sweet sleep mine eyelids close --
sleep that shall me more vigorous make
to serve my God when i awake.

5   When in the night i sleepless lie,
        my mind with heavenly thoughts supply;
let no ill dreams disturb my rest,
no powers of darkness me molest.

   6   Praise God, from whom all blessings flow;
Praise Him, all creatures here below,
Praise Him above, ye Heavenly host,
Praise Fahter, Son and Holy Ghost.

Yesterday I attended a special tea for a dear lady who lived in Hugoton for many years, and is now in the rest home in Satanta, another small town not far away.  Through many years, Florence jotted down verses, sayings, wrote poems, and other things that inspired her or meant something to her, in the blank spots of her Bible.  She called these tidbits  "Gleanings."  Well, it is a long story, but a special lady in Hugoton decided those things would make a very nice daily calendar, the kind that stands up, that have meaningful things in them.  So many people worked together to bring this dream into reality, and yesterday, they honored Florence with a tea, and had the calendars there to buy.  It was a really nice thing to do, and I enjoyed it so much.

Today, I attended the dedication of Autumn Brionne May Allen, my sister's grandchild.  After church, Autumn's parents invited us to their house for a nice dinner to celebrate their daughter.  So I got to attend two special events, one for an aged lady and one for a new little one, in two days' time.  Neat!  ;D

I don't know what time Abby's parents will come for her or call me to meet them.  But I think I will see if I can get her to take a nap, because Grandma is tired!  ;) ;D  I promised to read her the last four chapters of "Junie B. Jones and the Mushy Gushy Valentine" so maybe that will do the trick!

Ruth Ann, glad you are home and prayers continue for Pam.

Hi Marilyn!  Hi Jenny!

Miss you too, Miss Soni Baloney! ;) :)

Papa John

Sue, thank you for the link to the editorial.  It was interesting and well written.

Ria,  I appreciate your recognizing that I AM a young Papa John.  Unfortunately I don't always feel young anymore.  Sorry about the man at the nursing home having such a fall.  I really enjoyed the poetry by Thomas Ken.

Larry, I too thought about the resident of a nursing home having access to stairs.  Most of our nursing homes here are built on one floor.

Janet, I love to see the mothers and fathers bring their new babies before the congregation.  Our minister does such a good job holding them in his arms and praying for them.

Marilyn, sorry about your computer problem.  My laptop works fine down here in Florida but I do miss my fast cable connection I have back home.

Ruth Ann, I know you have spent a lot of time recently on the road.  Take care of yourself.  Sometime when we get back to Nashville Cornelia and I will have to meet you somewhere for lunch.

Jenny, it is good to hear from you at tea time in England.  When Cornelia and I were in England we enjoyed the many tea shops.  I liked the tea and scones with cream and jam.

Chris and Margit, thanks for the song "Did you think to pray?"  I have always loved that song.

James 5:14-16
14   Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord.
15   And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven.
16   Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. (NIV)

Eph 2:8-9  For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-- and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-- not by works, so that no one can boast.(NIV)

Marilyn,  I've just realized that we have yet to respond to your invitation to meet up with you and Al and Marybeth when we reach Oregon.

We indeed have been considering traveling from Eugene to Florence and down the Oregon and California coast after arriving in Portland the 4th of May, staying one night there and a few in Eugene.
Since we are not on a fixed schedule we cannot give exact dates as to when we will be where, but if you would be willing to send us your telephone number we perhaps can arrange a meeting.

It would be nice to meet.

Good afternoon from BC!

The music was beautiful today in church.  I really enjoyed it.  We are starting a choir, and there are lots of sopranos available for a change (usually there seem to be a lot of altos and few sopranos).  Guy voices are missing :'(

Gotta run.  Talk to you guys later.

Good day folks.

I am back early tonight because I was sick.  I seemed to have lost my voice over the weekend.  Ugh!

Chandraya and I both did pretty good in our dances.  She won two Rubies awards (2nd place) and an award for the cutest dance out of the petite division and I won two Rubie awards (2nd place).

We decided not to go to my brothers because I wasn't feeling to good.  The car we were going to take down there was to big to haul so we left it here.  He will have to come get it this summer sometime.  You guys would know how big it is. It is a 73' Mercury Marque (forgive the spelling).

I am going to go lay down for a bit.  I will be back later.

Palm Sunday.  I came home with a handful of palms to give to friends and neighbors.  Do any of your churches distribute palms?

This will be a busy week.  I'll be working full time, we heard this morning that a dear friend (92 years old) died on Friday and his funeral will be on Tuesday (I should be able to get time off for that), Thursday afternoon Gene goes to the cardiologist for his check-up (another 1/2 to 1 hour off for that), Thursday evening is Tenebrae service, and Friday afternoon there are hours for prayer and meditation from 12:00 to 3:00.  Whew!  Plus, in addition to all of that, Gene has several seniors to transport to doctor appointments which means remembering I have to take the truck to work so he can use the car.

And winter's still hanging on - it's 29 degrees and spitting snow right now.   :-\

What God Hath Promised
(Click to hear music)

Annie Johnson Flint

God hath not promised skies always blue,
flower strewn pathways all our lives through.
God hath not promised sun without rain,
joy without sorrow peace without pain.

But God hath promised strength for the day,
rest for the labor, light for the way,
grace for the trials help from above,
unfailing sympathy, undying love.

God hath not promised we shall not know
toil and temptation, trouble and woe;
He hath not told us we shall not bear
many a burden, many a care.

But God hath promised strength for the day,
rest for the labor, light for the way,
grace for the trials help from above,
unfailing sympathy, undying love.

God hath not promised smooth roads and wide,
swift, easy travel, needing no guide;
never a mountain rocky and steep,
never a river turbid and deep.

But God hath promised strength for the day,
rest for the labor, light for the way,
grace for the trials help from above,
unfailing sympathy, undying love.

Hi Jane, I have just read that Nita's brother Morris has accepted Christ and is now a new creation.    Praise God!  I know this is the most exciting news when a person passes from death to life.

Janice, I will pray for Alice.   My mother's name was Alice and it is a special name to me.

Thank you Pat for that great song "God Hath Not Promised"  I am listening to it while reading.

At church tonight we had a man from "Israel My Glory" and he was showing us all about the Sadir.  After we had communion.   It is amazing how the Jewish people participate in the Sadir and every part of it refers to Jesus the Messiah.   Very moving!
