JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

You shall by faith sustain yourself and comfort yourself
in your Lord, and be strong in His power; for you are in
the beaten and common way to heaven, when you are under
our Lord's crosses. You have reason to rejoice in it,
more than in a crown of gold; and rejoice and be glad
to bear the reproaches of Christ.

Morning Devotional...

He bearing His cross went forth into a place called the place of a skull.
John 19:17

His cross?

How could it be His cross? He is the One for whom God the Father rent the silent skies to proclaim: "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased."

God the Holy Spirit, through the pen of John, wrote: "In Him is no sin."

God the Son, with full honesty stated, "I do always those things that please [the Father]."

An openly critical human throng could not respond to His challenge, "Which of you convinceth Me of sin?" That cross was not His but ours. But He made it His to pay the penalty of our sin.

What a Saviour!
--David J. Logan

He chose to die upon the cross,
that awful cross of shame;
My heavy load of sin to bear,
I praise His holy name.
D. J. L
.

Hallelujah! What a Saviour!
(Click to hear music)

He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows,
and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him;
he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
Isaiah 53:3

Author:  Philip P. Bliss, 1838-1876
Musician:  Philip P. Bliss, 1838-1876

Man of Sorrows! what a name
For the Son of God, who came
Ruined sinners to reclaim!
Hallelujah! what a Saviour!

Bearing shame and scoffing rude,
In my place condemned He stood;
Sealed my pardon with His blood:
Hallelujah! what a Saviour!

Guilty, vile and helpless, we;
Spotless Lamb of God was He:
Full atonement! can it be?
Hallelujah! what a Saviour!

Lifted up was He to die,
"It is finished!" was His cry;
Now in heav'n exalted high:
Hallelujah! what a Saviour!

When He comes, our glorious King,
All His ransomed home to bring,
Then anew this song we'll sing:
Hallelujah! what a Saviour!

We are abundantly right to shout and sing, "Hallelujah, What a Saviort!"  Why would He choose such a death on my behalf?  Yet with that in mind, as Rutherford said,I should certainly "rejoice and be glad to bear the reproaches of Christ!"

Hi everyone, I haven't been in for awhile but thought I'd stop in, This is John Beth's Friend from New York. Beth is out here visiting Me. She's been here since Wednesday Afternoon. She sends her Love to all of you.We went to Albany, the State Capitol yesterday to the State Museum she enjoyed that.We have no real plans for today so we may play it by ear.I hope you all have a wonderful day and God Bless You all.

Marilyn

Well, HELLO, JOHN!!  Good to see you posting!  I am so glad Beth got there safely, and that you two are having a good time.

I got to bed around 2 AM, after getting home from the Women of Faith Conference in Denver.  It was really good, good entertainment (Christian music) good speakers, good exhortation and challenges, good fellowship.  There were 35 ladies from our town, from about 6 or 8 different churches, on the bus.  It was amazing to be in a room with over 16,000 women, all praising our Lord together!

I am, as you can imagine, tired and sleepy.  Darrel has some lunch ready, so I'm going to eat a little and then take a nap.  We had breakfast at the church this morning in place of Sunday school, that was nice.  I had forgotten about it, but got up too late to eat breakfast at home, so........... ;D

I will try to get back later to post again.

Oh!  Papa John, The March of the Penguins is the movie Beth, Pat and I saw this week, and I agree with your assessment of it.  I have been thinking about it a lot---only God, the almighty, all knowing, super-intelligent creator could make those creatures behave the way they do!  I loved the movie.

Later!

Hey there all y'all!   ;D  I just thought I'd stop by and add my minus 2¢ worth today.

Pat, I agree with the others regarding the devotional for today.  I love the hymn selection, too.  I also was thinking of "When I Survey The Wondrous Cross"   and then: "Amazing Love."  Thanks, once again, for helping us turn our thoughts to the cross.

I can say, with the Apostle Paul: "I have been crucified with Christ; and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.  The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me."  Galatians 2:20 NIV   Whatever "life" I have is not mine, but His.  "I" am dead ... He lives! I already have victory because Christ lives in me.  It truly is a wonderful life.

John, it's good to see you posting (as Janet said) and to know that you and Beth are having a great time together.  Take care of her, now, y'hear?   ;)

Janet and Papa John~Joy and I saw that movie (March of the Penquins) when were in Seattle last month.  I really enjoyed it too.  I don't usually go to movies, but I'm glad I saw this one.  I have recently acquired a few movies on DVD though.

I haven't much to say today, so I'll get back into my corner and just watch and listen for a while.
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Hi Everyone!

Glad to see you back, Karen.  Not nice without your internet.

This penguin movie I heard about on CFRB on our radio the other day and it made me want to go and see it.  I wonder where it is near here.

I'm feeling a bit better--no temperature now so that's good.  I have my grandson here (15 years old) and he says he loves being here so that's good.

I have my "dead" fridge at the bottom of the stairs now and trying to clean the concrete where it thawed and leaked out onto the floor.  What a mess.  Hopefully I can get it cleaned up before Tues. when the new fridge arrives.  Sometimes it's horrible living alone, right Marilyn?

Janet, glad you had a good time.  Now get rested.

Hi Jane!  I'm so happy that you found todays devotional a blessing.  I did too!  I also enjoyed the hymns and still have that one playing.  I should get another for us to listen to.

John, it was nice hearing from you and knowing that you and Beth are having a good time.  Come in again and post and keep us up to date, ok?

Amazing Love
(Click to hear music)

My Lord what love is this?
That paid so dearly
That I, the guilty one, may go free.

Chorus:
Amazing love, oh what sacrifice
The Son of God, given for me
My debt He paid, and my death He died
That I, might live.
That I, might live.

And so, they watched Him die
Despised and rejected
But oh, the blood He shed, flowed for me.

Chorus:
Amazing love, oh what sacrifice
The Son of God, given for me
My debt He paid, and my death He died
That I, might live.
That I, might live.

And now, this love of Christ
Will flow, like rivers
Come wash, your guilt away, And live again.

Chorus:
Amazing love, oh what sacrifice
The Son of God, given for me
My debt He paid, and my death He died
That I, might live.
That I, might live.

I went to bed and tried to sleep, no such thing today.  Then I had a call that my Mom has fallen twice in the past few days and isn't acting like herself, so I went to the care home to see about her.  I had a hard time waking her up; she was sleeping in her chair with John Hagee yelling at the top of her TV volume!  I muted it, and still could't wake her.  When I finally got her awake, she just blinked at me like I were an apparition of some kind.  I really think she must have suffered another stroke; they have an appointment for her to see the doctor in the morning.  She looks just awful---black eye, split place on her head, very swollen; and the last fall, she went down on her knee.  I didn't see it.  She really didn't seem able to focus enough for me to talk to her; so I came home and called my siblings to let them know her status.  Life is complicated at times, isn't it?  (Sigh.......)

Pat, I hope you get the mess cleaned up.  I am going out to Beth's to put out mouse bait soon, before they carry off the whole place.  Those kinds of messes are really disgusting, but we all have to deal with them at times, I guess.  Glad James is there to help you, and a 15 year old boy is VERY STRONG!!  Go, James!!  ;D  I know you are a big help to Grammy, but don't catch her cold bug, okay?

OOPS!!  Time to go to church and pray!

What an aawesome day this has been  We are home from church, and the baptismal after.  Elizabeth was baptised.  She had to give her testimony in church during the morning service.  She did wrll and this Mom was in tears.  We had a lot of our youth baptised today.  After the service we had a pot luch and a time of fellowship with the rest of the families who were there.   We have such a wonderful church family and they are so supportive to each other.

Today's devotional was much in line with todays service.  Amazing isn't it to have two areas of devotion teach and remind us of the same thing?

John I am pleased that you and Beth are having a good time.  Enjoy the remaining of the visit.

Janet get some rest now, God has given you have a season for refreshing and energising.  Enjoy it.  It is hard to say no to others isn't it?

The March of the Penguins, I haven't heard of it I will do some searching and see if we all can see it.  I promised the girls a movie for helping out with the dresses.

Pat I have a song playing in my head.
"And can it be that I should gain,
An interest in the Saviours _ _ _ _ _
Died He for me .....

Can we all sing it?

Have a good day folks.
Judy

Pat you sure got that right.  Living alone is nice but at times it sure gets hectic and miserable. Especially when things go wrong and you ain't got nobody to fix it .

I have just nstalled stamps.com in my PC I send out at least 2 books worth of stuff every month in bills and hate to stand in line at the post office. So this should work out  nicely. It costs me $14.80 a month for stamps.

I forgot what else  was going to say.

John ~ I am so glad you and Beth are having a great time.  Don't tire yourselves out.  Rest one day...go the next.  That even works for me.

Papa John ~ We ALL remember you being in the hospital.  It just wasn't your time to go and we are so glad that God didn't call you home.  We are selfish....we want you here with us.

Pat ~ Sounds like you have a big project going up there in Guelph.  But also sounds like you have some good help...that is what I miss about Jerry...he was a great helping hand.  Now I call on my brother, Kaye Don, or son, Tony.  It is great to have family, isn't it?

TBear ~ Glad to see you back.  Hope it doesn't take too long to catch up.

Church was great today as always.  I am always so hungry after church so I went to McDonalds for lunch.  Then drove around Greenfield to see what has changed in the last 4 years and there is a lot.  At one I went to Shelley's...a lady in our Small Groups Bible Study.  Our Small Group was having homemade ice cream and we were to bring our favorite topping to share.  Well, the homemade part didn't get done but we had Edy's Ice Cream and what a bunch of toppings!  I know I tried at least half of them.  The minister's wife told us about her experience she had on a missionary trip to Mombasa, Kenya, Africa.  We were really feeling bad for her when she was telling about the heat, the filth, the smells, the poverty....that is, until she told us each night she slept in a beautiful room at a 4-star hotel, right on the beach with an infinity pool, buffet for each meal, hot and cold water, comfortable bed, the works!  We had to give her a good teasing.  They even went on a safari but didn't see a lion.  And elephants do walk with their tail held by the trunk behind them!!  Great conversations.

I find I do more and more bill paying online.  My bank makes it so easy, and it's free.  In fact, a few months back I closed my account where I'd been for probably 10 years, because they were going to start charging for online bill pay.   A book of stamps lasts me for months. :)

John, thanks for letting us know how things are going for you and Beth on her vacation.  We've all been wondering. :)

That would be so painful seeing your mom like that, Janet.  You've got a big load to carry with your mom and Beth.  There's only so much of you to go around.  I remember when my mom was in a nursing home.  I came in just after she fell, and she was still on the floor.  I got down on the floor with her and put my arms around her.  She looked so embarassed and it broke my heart.  She'd tried to go to the bathroom alone because no one would come. :(   She had a bruise on her cheek.  I wanted to pick her up and run with her, but of course, that wasn't possible.  I couldn't give her the care she needed.  A few days later, she went into the hospital and didn't come home again.  It's so good that you have siblings.  Will they come?   All of my siblings came with just one phone call.  It felt soooo good to have them there.

I think my grandson works harder at being stupid than he does at anything else!!!  There.  I said it.  I'm really upset with him right now.  I feel much better having told you all. lol  He constantly digs a hole for himself and jumps in.  His dad insisted he get a steady job for August and most of September.  He needs to prove himself to him, and put some of his own effort toward college.  Kyle got a job, worked one day, went to a party that night and missed the next day.  I just can't believe it.   I've heard through the grapevine that he isn't fired yet, but the guy wants to make it hard on him, and will give him a couple days to think about it.  That's really kind of him.  He wouldn't have to do that.    I think he was too spoiled as an only child, and doesn't have a handle on self reliance, motivation, goal setting, and whatever else.  ughhhhhhhh.  But he's my grandson, and I love him like crazy.  'When he came home this morning I asked if he had anything to say to me.  He managed to get out, "I couldn't get anyone to bring me home".  Duh.   I just looked at him, told him he was lying and that wasn't the point.  I was to mad to say more.  We aren't talking at the moment.

I guess I shouldn't have dumped on all of you, but hope you don't mind.  I'll pray it through and God will give me grace, I know.

I just ran to the store with my daughter, Kim, and we both got a few flowers to plant. I need some more color. For some reason I have lots of spring flowers, and just a few summer, and then more for Fall.  Everything looks dull now.  I got some colorful mums and some marked down snapdragons.  Also Gazania to fill in with my others.

I have been having some of those sleepness nights that seem to go around here. :)  I sleep for a good 30 minutes and then wake up and can't go back to sleep.  Maybe tonight will be better.  "Lord, you know if I need sleep or not."

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  I have had a very busy day and find I am really tired this evening.  I got up fairly early and worked on my computer until it was time to go to Sunday School and church.  I was tired by the time we left for church so as soon as we got home and had a bite to eat I took a nap.  Got up about an hour later and started working on my computer somemore.  I was having trouble getting the TV Card installed so it would work.  Later this afternoon my friend Rod came online and he helped me through the process.  So things are going well with reinstalling all the programs.  However, I am not sure I have solved anything in that late this afternnon the computer rebooted itselft again.  I am very confident th at this is not being caused by a virus or worm as I installed the anti-virus and Zone Alarm programs before getting on the Internet.  At least I will have ruled out a problem with the software and have a nice clean installation again.

I have read all the messages and Nita I can certainly relate to your frustration.  I feel that way a lot with our 40 year old daughter who lives with us.

Good to see Karen is back online.  I will try to post more tomorrow but this is it for today.

TIME GETS BETTER WITH AGE

I learned that I like my teacher because she cries when we sing "Silent Night".

Age 5

I learned that our dog doesn't want to eat my broccoli either.

Age 7

I learned that when I wave to people in the country, they stop what they are doing and wave back.

Age 9

I learned that just when I get my room the way I like it, Mom makes me clean it up again.

Age 12

I learned that if you want to cheer yourself up, you should try cheering someone else up.

Age 14

I learned that although it's hard to admit it, I'm secretly glad my parents are strict with me.

Age 15

I learned that silent company is often more healing than words of advice.

Age 24

I learned that brushing my child's hair is one of life's great pleasures.

Age 26

I learned that wherever I go, the world's worst drivers have followed me there.

Age 29

I learned that if someone says something unkind about me, I must live so that no one will believe it.

Age 30

I learned that there are people who love you dearly but just don't know how to show it.

Age 42

I learned that you can make some one's day by simply sending them a little note.

Age 44

I learned that the greater a person's sense of guilt, the greater his or her need to cast blame on others.

Age 46

I learned that children and grandparents are natural allies.

Age 47

I learned that no matter what happens, or how bad it seems today, life does go on, and it will be better tomorrow.

Age 48

I learned that singing "Amazing Grace" can lift my spirits for hours.

Age 49

I learned that motel mattresses are better on the side away from the phone.

Age 50

I learned that you can tell a lot about a man by the way he handles these three things: a rainy day, lost luggage, and tangled Christmas tree lights.

Age 51

I learned that keeping a vegetable garden is worth a medicine cabinet full of pills.

Age 52

I learned that regardless of your relationship with your parents, you miss them terribly after they die.

Age 53

I learned that making a living is not the same thing as making a life.

Age 58

I learned that if you want to do something positive for your children, work to improve your marriage.

Age 61

I learned that life sometimes gives you a second chance.

Age 62

I learned that you shouldn't go through life with a catchers mitt on both hands.  You need to be able to throw something back.

Age 64

I learned that if you pursue happiness, it will elude you.  But if you focus on your family, the needs of others, your work, meeting new people, and doing the very best you can, happiness will find you.

Age 65

I learned that whenever I decide something with kindness, I usually make the right decision.

Age 66

I learned that everyone can use a prayer.

Age 72

I learned that even when I have pains, I don't have to be one.

Age 82

I learned that every day you should reach out and touch someone.  People love that human touch-holding hands, a warm hug, or just a friendly pat on the back.

Age 90

I learned that I still have a lot to learn.

Age 92

I learned that you should pass this on to someone you care about.  Sometimes they just need a little something to make them smile.

I am ready to call it a day!

Yes, Nita, seeing Mom like that is hard.  She looks really awful, and seems like she isn't "making the connection" very well, either.  And her mind has always been so sharp!  I hope the doctor will be able to tell us something tomorrow.

I have been chatting with Beth and John, they are having a good time.  They say something is wrong with her wheelchair, but that it is hard to explain; but she can still use it.

I have another full day tomorrow, getting 30 of my paintings ready and hauling them to the museum in preparation for the big art show this coming weekend.

See you all tomorrow.
