"Man is never so proud as when
striking the pose of humility."

~C. S. Lewis~

Morning Devotional...

And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.
2 Timothy 2:2

It is essential to the succession of God's Church, that His truth be passed from generation to generation.

Changed, dedicated believers are still God's best method in the accomplishing of His purposes.

Faithful, gifted teachers are responsible to communicate the truth to other reliable believers who will not compromise the teachings of Scripture. In turn, those who are taught must be competent, ready, and willing to pass the truth on to others.

Failure to carry out this text puts at risk the spiritual quality of future generations.

Channels Only
(Click to hear music)

If a man therefore purge himself from these,
he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified,
and meet for the master's use,
and prepared unto every good work.

II Timothy 2:21

Author:  Mary E. Maxwell, 20th Century
Musician:  Ada Rose Gibbs, 1865-1905

How I praise Thee, precious Saviour,
That Thy love laid hold of me;
Thou hast saved and cleansed and filled me
That I might Thy channel be.

Refrain:
Channels only, blessed Master,
But with all Thy wondrous pow'r
Flowing thro' us, Thou canst use us
Ev'ry day and ev'ry hour.

Just a channel, full of blessing
To the thirsty hearts around;
To tell out Thy full salvation,
All Thy loving message sound.

Emptied that Thou shouldest fill me,
A clean vessel in Thy hand;
With no pow'r but as Thou givest
Graciously with each command.

Witnessing Thy pow'r to save me,
Setting free from self and sin;
Thou who boughtest to possess me,
In Thy fullness, Lord, come in.

Jesus, fill now with Thy Spirit
Hearts that full surrender know;
That the streams of living water
From our inner man may flow.

Good morning everyone.  I see I will be first after the devotional and hymn.

Yesterday was a busy day and then last evening I spent about 3 hours working on putting together a picture gallery of our volunteers for your website.  It is difficult, especially for new volunteers, to get to know names with faces sine we often see each other only once a month and sometimes not that often.   So I used my digital camera and took pictures and then setup a webpage to show the pictures and names by year they became volunteers.  It is coming together nicely and I have probably half or more of the pictures I need so am going ahead and displaying what we have.

Janet, I was relieved for you, Beth, John and all the family to see your posting that Beth is safely in New York.  I hadn't realized she was taking her dog with her either.  That must have added to the difficulty of the trip.  Glad to see you found the costumes and that you are going to be able to attend your painting group.  Hope your paints don't get too cold to use.  :)

Anthony, hope things are looking up for you today.

Jane, you should be nice and toasty with the wood.  Will that run you throughout the winter?

Nita, we give cash to our granddaughter for Christmas and birthdays.  We seldom see her and know that cash is always welcome.

Well, it is time to go to coffee.  I have a busy day today.  We are taking a SN friend (for those of you who know her this is Virginia (Hootie).  She is in a nursing home trying to get strong enough to return to her own place.  She wants to go to Red Lobster so that is what we will do.  Then at 3 pm this afternoon we have a 2 hour choir rehearsal for our Christmas program tomorrow night.  I am thrilled that our daughter, son and his wife, are planning on attending.  We are having a dinner at the church first and then the program starting with the children.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Hi, friends,

Brrr - at 18 degrees Fahrenheit, I wonder how cold it is Centigrade. At any rate, I can't seem to get warm.

I'm staying very tired and learned my iron level is way low again, so have begun taking more iron supplements.

Will be with my granddaughter for her christmas programs tomorrow and Monday.

Y'all have a good weekend.

Ruth Ann
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Pat - I love the quote from Lewis.  It's so very true.  I think we all do a lot more posturing than we could ever realize. Oh how I want to be cleansed of it!  Deep down I want to be a "channel only."

Papa John

Saturday morning. Early this morning it was 18° here but it is supposed to get up to 45°. But anyway we don't have snow on the ground like many of you do.  Ruth Ann, I hope you get warm before the day is over.

Janet I was glad to hear Beth is OK and now you can relax and know she is safe.

Last night we went to a Christmas party at the house of friends. There were too many good things to eat. Tonight we go to another which is our Sunday school class which is having a progressive dinner, one place for hors d'oeuvres, one place for the main dish, and one for deserts. Sounds good to me.

We are looking forward to Sunday, Christmas day when I believe all our family, daughters, sons-in-law, grand-children  and Elsie our great granddaughter, along with several family friends will be at our house for Christmas dinner.

Psalm 128:1-6

1   Blessed is every one who fears the LORD, who walks in His ways.
2   When you eat the labor of your hands, you shall be happy, and it shall be well with you.
3   Your wife shall be like a fruitful vine in the very heart of your house, your children like olive plants all around your table.
4   Behold, thus shall the man be blessed who fears the LORD.
5   The LORD bless you out of Zion, and may you see the good of Jerusalem all the days of your life.
6   Yes, may you see your children's children. Peace be upon Israel!

Just rushing through.  Busy day for me.  I got the driveway opened yesterday so I have already been to the chiropractor.  I got a wonderful massage which really helped my stiff back...probably from shoveling a little snow yesterday.

Now I am off to Kitty's and the 60 Chix luncheon.  Then at 4:30 PM Ivalou and I are going to Tony and Charlene's for Christmas and eating out somewhere.

Then tomorrow church.

God Bless You All!

Good Morning.  am ready to go to work.

Love the devotional today Pat,
QuoteFaithful, gifted teachers are responsible to communicate the truth to other reliable believers who will not compromise the teachings of Scripture.

Reminded me of a conversation I had last night with my friend Kitty down in Lucerne Valley. She ask me if it was alright for Pastors to drink I told her definitely not. She then said well why do they say that they can. I told her what the Bible says about drunkards will not see the kingdom of God. She seems to think that somewhere in the scriptures it says that they can. IMHO I think whatever Pastor told her that was quoting the scripture out of context the way so many do when they want to keep on doing something that is wrong.

"Everything in moderation"

That is what his wife said to me when I saw him with a beer in his office.

I have a friend who says that smoking pot is OK because God gave us all the herbs to use  and that pot is an herb.  I keep telling her that is the wrong way to interpret that verse. Any way Kitty is going to try to find the verse that the Pastor used to justify his drinking.

It is probably the one where Paul tells Timothy to  take a drink of wine for his stomach. I know that Pastor and his drinking was the reason I left his church and went to the AOG. He is a wonderful teacher but this is so wrong. His health is failing again just like it was when I left his church. Kitty has asked me to pray for him and I don't know how to pray other than asking God to change his ways and diliver him from alcholism. I would be interested to hear what y-all have to say about this. So I can print it out and send it to her.

Hello everyone!

It's so chilly here.  I have to go out and start the car so it won't be like sitting inside a fridge in a little while when I must do some errands.

Oops, now the phone is ringing...

Hey, Marilyn, I have had oodles of students use that "herb" line with me.  I just remind them that God also made poison ivy/sumac/oak as well, but I wouldn't recommend smoking it . . .

Cold here today.  The kids are feeling much better.  Glad to see everyone and hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Nards and I have been "dating" for 12 years today. ;)

Janet

Hello!  I have had a wonderful, relaxing day painting with my friends.  We also brought back the items we exchanged last year, painted and today returned them to their owners.  Everyone in the group does a beautiful job.

Today we painted a small plaque with EIGHT snowmen!!  Wow, talk about detail work, the entire piece is detail!  I was the only one who got mine entirely finished.  I don't like to bring home half-done projects.  We also had a gift exchange, but someone accidentally picked mine up and took it home with her.  I'm sure they will return it when they discover their error.  But it was a pretty wooden candy bowl full of candy, and I planned to set it on my table as a centerpiece.

Papa John, your little graphic is ME, all right, even dreaming the right dreams!  :)  I do hope Beth gets along all right, and I'm trying not to worry about her, a tough assignment----but I'm trying!

Karma, glad to hear your little ones are better today.  They usually bounce back quickly, but can also get sick quickly, too.  But they have wonderful parents who know how to take care of them, so they are blessed.

Ruth Ann, I'm thinking of and praying for you.  (((hugs)))

Larry, the directory you are working on sounds very nice, and I'm sure it will prove helpful as well.  You said you felt "grumpy" the other day.....that's the way I feel, too, when I'm overstressed and not feeling the best physically.  (At least I hope I'm not grumpy all the time.)  ^-^

Mark's gift I ordered from eBay arrived today, so I guess I will stop before I put you all to sleep and go wrap it.

Have a wonderful day with the Lord and in His house tomorrow!

I had a nice chat today across the big pond with a  wonderful sister and friend on Skype.  I have been busy too. I baked 4 mini loaves of Pumpkin bread and 1 large loaf. I delivered the  mini to my neighbors with a Christmas card. I have done some laundry and made a couple of Outlook Express stationery's. Now I am settling down to have my supper and relax for the rest of the evening. I think the Ice Wars are going to be on CBS tonight. I don't want to miss that.

Janet I am so glad you are kicking back now and taking it easy.  How is Darrel?

Rachelle

Hey Everyone~Just stopped in to say hello :) I have been busy lately getting Christmas cards out and shopping, I am almost done-tonight I want to make a blanket for my sister though-Its one of those no sew fleece blankets and I have made 5 of them so far-4 for my kids and one for myself.
Wayne and I are going tomorrow to finish up with the kids shopping. We need to get them some new clothes so we will be doing that after church.
I have a question-I had to send my camera back and I am looking at buying a new camera-what is the most important thing in a digital camera? Is it the optical lens??
I need a good reliable camera but, not anything over $400.
And pray that my refund comes next week so I have one for Christmas..
Hugs
Rachelle :)

Yes winter has arrived and it in not officially the first day of winter is it not Dec. 21st.

Janet:  The hardest thing for you to do is give Beth's care to the Lord.  But it is also good to know that she is with John.  Our children leave home but they are never away from our minds.

Sue is loaning us a monitor that she has at least it will be in place for us to use until I am well enough to go with Mel  - monitor shopping.

A thought being sick is no fun and do I have a dose. so far 2 days home from work and 2 visits to the chiropractor with another on Monday his adjustments are sure helping I must say.

Anthony I trust that you have had a good day today.

Ruth

Rachelle, i don't know what all you would use your digi cam for (thus, I don't know exactly what would be most important to you), but the Kodak EZShares are good little cameras at an affordable price.   One piece of advice I can offer is to ignore how much "digital" zoom a camera has.  I have found that that stat is pretty much useless as far as good pictures are concerned.

It's almost time for bed now, so I hope to be back tomorrow sometime.  It is our choir's service to do our Christmas Cantata.  Should be interesting.

Thanks-I had a 3 x Optical and it seemed to print the pictures pretty good so that is probably what I will look for-I use the camera alot for all kinds of pictures-I heard that the Konica Dimage was a good Camera so I may check that out.
Have a good day today..

Rachelle, sorry you had camera problems...  Not nice.  My youngest son just got a fantastic Nikon Coolpix 990 on eBay for $200.00

It's a fantastic camera and he's very happy with it.  In 2000, we bought the Nikon Coolpix 950 new for over $1200. and this one is two cameras upgraded from that one that Andrew bought.

Keep us posted and lets see lots of your photos in your gallery here.

Now, it's time to lock this door and let's continue our conversation HERE
