JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

    Unto us a child is born, unto us a Son is given. . . His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, the mighty God, the everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace.
    Isaiah 9:6

    To His people, the Lord is a wonderful Counselor, guiding us skillfully along life's pathway.

    He is the Mighty God, helping us through difficulties in ways we could never imagine.

    He is the Everlasting Father, demonstrating care and compassion to those that abide under the shadow of His wings.

    And as Prince of Peace, in a world of turmoil He brings rest to His people.

    The full display of these qualities will be manifested in a future day, but for those who know Him now, they are not only a future hope but a present reality.

    Trials and Pain: Not Yet "Due Time"

    But He knows the way that I take; when He has tested me, I shall come
    forth as gold.
    --Job 23:10

    God has said He will exalt you in due time, but remember, He is
    referring to His time and not yours!

    Some of you are actually in a fiery furnace right now. You are in a
    special kind of spiritual testing. The pastor may not know it and
    others may not know it, but you have been praying and asking the
    Lord: "Why don't you get me out of this?"

    In God's plan it is not yet "due time." When you have come through
    the fire, God will get you out and there will not be any smell of
    smoke on your garment and you will not have been harmed.

    The only harm that can come will be from your insistence that God
    must get you out sooner than He plans.

    The Lord has promised to exalt you in due time and He has always
    kept His promises to His people.

    As children, we can always afford to wait. A saint of God does not
    have to be concerned about time when he is in the will of God.
    I Call It Heresy! pp. 116-117

    "Lord, I pray this morning for anyone who is 'actually in a fiery
    furnace right now.' Give great grace to endure until the 'due time'
    when You bring release and exaltation. Amen."

    Whooooooo turned off the furnace outside?????????????  It turned terribly cold out during the night.  There is a skim of snow and still coming down!  19°F out there right now!!!  I am dragging out the heavy winter coat this morning.  Brrrrrr!

    Nita, I am finding that Firefox is 5 times faster to navigate on CP than IE.  So much faster and so far I find it is the same EXCEPT 'Glow' doesn't work!  What am I doing wrong?

    Jerry and I are ready to head south to church.  Will be a busy day today.  See you all this afternoon.

    Hi evereyone,

    I absolutely love winter and the slower pace but Christmas gets to be a busy time for me and I haven't posted lately.  Still cutting trees down on my hill and moving the wood piles closer to the door.

    Etta Sue: I think your cold front is headed for us. It's supposed to get really cold next week (single digits) and my wood pile is growing higher and higher.  I keep telling myself that hauling the wood in and the ashes out is great upper body exercise.  Will be so glad when the "getting back in shape" aches and pains are gone.

    Pat: George Mcdonald had the right idea. Growing older is a grand privilege especially if you feel great.  And thanks for your kind words about my ebook.

    Chris: I loved the picture of the flowers.

    Have to go haul in some more wood.

    BOB IS OKAY!

    We're really glad
    to see you here!

    Larry Hanna

    Hi everyone.

    A special welcome to Bob is Okay to CP..

    Seeing how long my posting was yesterday evening (I guess you could see I was a bit hyper) I will try to make this much shorter.

    This has been a super day.  It started off with our choir singing our Christmas Cantata at the 8 am service.  There were only about 45 people present besides the choir but that didn't matter as we were singing to glorify God.  Then we sang it again at the 11:15 am service with a 10 piece orchestra and it was beautiful.  Our church was full.

    However, the highlight for me was that our son did attend with us.  Seeing him sitting in church brought tears to my eyes and joy to my heart.  It is just my prayer that this is the first big step toward his returning to the arms of our Lord and Savior sometime in the days ahead.  My new friend, of whom I have spoken several times recently, also attended.   Following the service there was a farewell  reception for our interim senior minister.  The Christmas Eve services will be his last service with us.

    However, there was sadness today within our SeniorNet family as one of our friends lost her husband suddenly last night to a heart attack.  I know that Pat, Etta Sue and probably several other CP members are sharing this sudden shock for our friend.

    It is suppose to be very cold here tonight and we have seen a few snow flakes this afternoon.  So Etta Sue you are not the only one experiencing the cold.  BRRRR!

    Bob is okay

    Thank you for the welcomes everyone.  I pray that everyone is safe this Christmas.

    Before I forget,   you TBear. Heres praying you get, what you would like.

    Etta Sue

    Brrrrr!  I am glad I am back home.  The wind is terrible.  It kind of tossed the car around when going on east/west roads.  Yes, Indiana has east/west and north/south roads primarily...except where some roads follow a stream.  Only one or two rivers in Indiana and they aren't big ones.

    Anyway, church was awesome.  Both ministers did a great job with their sermons today.  Everyone looked spiffy in the Christmas colors.  But the smile on everyones face was the highlight.  Smiles are the best decoration anyone can have.

    Gotta run.  Larry, I haven't been to SrNet yet so I don't know who you are talking about.

    Etta Sue your Giraffe resembles a monkey in some aspects.

    I am so late getting here. Forgive me please.  We had a guest speaker this morning, He was very good and really spoke into my life. I also got an email with something from the Lord for my situation. I am truly blessed today.

    I am so lost without my car. Calling for ride, unable to go to work. I did use Gil's car yesterday and hopefully I can use it tomorrow also.  I plan to call the garage first thing in the morning to get them moving on my car.

    Not much else to say right now.

    Theron Boyd, Joan Grimes husband, died last night, Etta Sue.

    It's doubly sad too for Joan as her first husband died on Jan. 1 so this season is always going to have a terrible memory for her.

    I'm so thankful that my back snapped back into place about 2 pm after I had been resting completely. How very thankful I am.

    It's bitter cold today - I'm anxious to hear the weather forecast. Winds have been howling and when the snow squalls have come through, the snow has been blowing horizontally. Not so much fun for a Southern gal.

    Pat, I just read about Theron in SrNet.  A death is always sad but doubly so when it is on or close to holidays.  It was so unexpected.  He seemed to be doing much better lately.

    Glad you got a chuckle out of my giraffe.  I got it in an email and just had to share it.

    Etta Sue, you're just too funny.

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY, T'BEAR!!!

    Nita

    Etta Sue.......that's so cute.  I sent it on to my sister.

    How sad about Joan's husband.  This is a sad time for so many.....because of loss during this time.  I feel for her.  And to think she lost her last husband during the holidays too.  It's just so sad.

    Jane Walker lost her daughter around this time of year too.....so she's remembering. :'(

    Ruth Ann Bice

    I also think of Jane and pray for her. The holidays are made more difficult with losses. Both my grandparents died on Christmas Eve, so I can truthfully say I understand.

    Janet

    Goodness, what a couple of days I've had!  Yesterday I left with Beth fairly early to go to Dodge and pick up John.  We spent the afternoon shopping, then attended the Christmas Show at the Depot Theatre Company, so got home near to midnight.

    Today after church, we went to the museum.  They had everything decorated for Christmas, including the old schoolhouse.  Santa was there today; they had various people singing or playing instruments, so we stayed a while to listen.  From there, we went to the Mormon church to see hundreds of Nativity sets they had on display.  They borrowed my painting of the Nativity I did last year, but I was disappointed they didn't even have a card on it telling whose it is.  Oh, well........   Next, we went by the Care Home to see Mom for a minute, and got to hear another music program.  A lady who teaches music here had her students doing it, and it was really nice.  Then we drove by the Methodist Church to see their live Nativity, and listened to them for a while.  We have been WELL entertained!!

    I won't try to comment to everyone individually today, since I'm so far behind, but do want to say.........

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY, TBEAR!!!  And many more!

    I need to go find a bit to eat.  I've had cookies and punch at a couple of places, but my body says it needs PROTEIN!    :)  Or at least some fruit!  See you all later.

    I am off to look at the other forums.

    Papa John

    It is good to read all the posts today.  I was saddened to learn of Joan Grimes husband, Theron, whom I met some years ago in the Atlanta meeting.

    This week-end has been very busy around our here.  Last night Martha had her school Christmas party which he has each year with her faculty and administration.  There were 35 who come for the party.  Then today we had my sister and brother, my sisters three sons and three of her grandchildren along with Rachel and her family.  We fed 21 for dinner.  Cornelia had made a delicious roast beef and all kinds of other things.

    We are still grieving over the passing of my brother-in-law, Walker.  It is going to be hard on my sister who has been so dependent on him for the last 62 years.

    We, like everyone, are looking forward to Christmas.  I believe all of our family will be here for Christmas dinner, three daughters, two sons-in-law, six grandchildren, one great granddaughter, three grand sons-in-law and probably a few other guests.  All of these are faithful and active Christians and we will be thinking of the greatest Christmas gift --- the gift of God’s son  --- who died on the cross to save us from our sins.

    John 3:16  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
    (KJV)

    John 1:11-12  He came unto his own, and his own received him not.  But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:  (KJV)

    Hi Everyone, Hi Pat:

    I have just got back on my computer after 2 1/2 weeks.  The whole time was very frustrating because my Korean student wanted to get on and was bugging me every day.  I finally called a great guy who works for Jews for Jesus and he came and fixed it.  First he fixed my computer and hooked the modem and router to mine.  He then took my wireless internet gadget and hooked it up to my students.  He was having a problem with it and had to go, his wife and kids were coming over to my place.  He said "well your student will just have to come down and use my computer!"   I thought to myself,  No, that's not going to happen!   He said "I will try one more thing"  and went upstairs.   I prayed and asked the Lord to help him get my student's computer up with the wireless internet.   He came down 2 minutes later and said "SHE'S UP!"      I said "THANK YOU LORD!"

    It is very cold here and all my cats are inside cozing up to the radiators.      God Bless

    Love Ruthie

    A great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, saying,
    "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom His favor rests."

    Words: Charles Wesley, Hymns and Sacred Poems, 1739

    Music:Music: "Mendelssohn," Felix Mendelssohn, in his cantata Festgesang, 1840, honoring printer Johann Gutenberg; arranged by William H. Cummings in Congregational Hymn and Tune Book, by R. R. Chope, 1857

    Hark! The herald angels sing,
    "Glory to the newborn King;
    Peace on earth, and mercy mild,
    God and sinners reconciled!"
    Joyful, all ye nations rise,
    Join the triumph of the skies;
    With th'angelic host proclaim,
    "Christ is born in Bethlehem!"

    Refrain
    Hark! the herald angels sing,
    "Glory to the newborn King!"

    Christ, by highest heav'n adored;
    Christ the everlasting Lord;
    Late in time, behold Him come,
    Offspring of a virgin's womb.
    Veiled in flesh the Godhead see;
    Hail th'incarnate Deity,
    Pleased with us in flesh to dwell,
    Jesus our Emmanuel.

    Hail the heav'nly Prince of Peace!
    Hail the Sun of Righteousness!
    Light and life to all He brings,

    Mild He lays His glory by,
    Born that man no more may die.
    Born to raise the sons of earth,
    Born to give them second birth.

    Here is Charles Wesley's original version:

    Hark, how all the welkin rings,
    "Glory to the King of kings;
    Peace on earth, and mercy mild,
    God and sinners reconciled!"

    Joyful, all ye nations, rise,
    Join the triumph of the skies;
    Universal nature say,
    "Christ the Lord is born to-day!"

    Christ, by highest Heaven ador'd,
    Christ, the everlasting Lord:
    Late in time behold him come,
    Offspring of a Virgin?s womb!

    Veiled in flesh, the Godhead see,
    Hail the incarnate deity!
    Pleased as man with men to appear,
    Jesus! Our Immanuel here!

    Hail, the heavenly Prince of Peace!
    Hail, the Sun of Righteousness!
    Light and life to all he brings,
    Risen with healing in his wings.

    Mild He lays his glory by,
    Born that man no more may die;
    Born to raise the sons of earth;
    Born to give them second birth.

    Come, Desire of nations, come,
    Fix in us thy humble home;
