Morning Devotional...

I am the light of the world: he that followeth Me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
John 8:12

It was only a small white light in the distance, but as their car approached it revealed a major two-car crash. A wave of terror swept over the occupants of the arriving car as people viewed the carnage illuminated by a small dome light.

The headlights of the recently arrived vehicle shone on the wreckage while its flashing red lights warned approaching traffic of danger ahead.

Events on the road of life often warn of dangers and encourage us to look to the

One who is the Light of the World and the source of everlasting life--the Lord Jesus Christ.
--Arnot P. McIntee

The Light of the World is Jesus [/color]
Philip P. Bliss

The whole world was lost in the darkness of sin:
The Light of the World is Jesus;
Like sunshine at noonday His glory shone in,
The Light of the World is Jesus.

No darkness have we who in Jesus abide,
The Light of the World is Jesus;
We walk in the Light when we follow our Guide,
The Light of the World is Jesus.

Ye dwellers in darkness with sin-blinded eyes,
The Light of the World is Jesus;
Go, wash at His bidding, and light will arise,
The Light of the World is Jesus.

No need of the sunlight in heaven, we're told,
The Light of the World is Jesus;
The Lamb is the Light in the City of Gold,
The Light of the World is Jesus.

CHORUS:
Come to the Light, 'tis shining for thee;
Sweetly the Light has dawned upon me;
Once I was blind, but now I can see;
The Light of the World is Jesus.

SORTING SOCKS IN THE SUN
By Smokey the dog

Last night we had had a snowstorm and everything was white and snow covered outside. I took advantage of the brilliant winter sunlight streaming in the sliding doors of the deck to sort socks. I don't know about you but I have dozens of pairs of "black" socks. I work in security and black socks are a required part of my uniform. Now for those of you who don't know, not all "black" socks are alike. They vary in color and texture and the stitching on the toe. Now under ordinary artificial light they all pretty much all look the same. In the light of the sun you can better see the slight variations, thus easier to sort. My wife had made up three bundles of "unmatched socks". With the help of the bright sunlight and some socks in the clothes basket I was able to make seven pairs. The artificial light just didn't do it.
I got to thinking, the bright sunlight helped me to sort socks. The light of the SON helps me to sort through my life. The Son's light helps me to discern choices, and reveals good and evil. The artificial light of the world dosen't help in life. It deceives you into making false pairs.

Pat, I think that morphing is hilarious.  I would sure like to know how to do that.

Well, I am ready to go out the door and head for Pendleton to get Jerry and then to church.  I am running the lights today so we want to get there so I can help Jerry with the duplicating all I can.  Then I need to come home early this afternoon and do some laundry before leaving Wednesday morning.

Ya'all have a great God Day.

Hi everyone.  I am working on restalling a lot of software on my desktop computer so while that is working have a couple of minutes to post here so I won't be the last one of the day.  I am ready to go to church but it will be awhile before we leave.  I spoke with my son last night and they are sitting a neice's children and he may bring them over this morning so we can see them.  I expect we will go out to eat after church today but we have made no definite plans.

Pat, thanks for the devotional today.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day.

And, I just learned we're having a bring-in dinner at church today, so I'm out the door to the grocery right quick! Don't know how I missed that in last Sunday's bulletin.

We are also having a pot luck dinner at my church today. I don't have much to take so I am making Macroni and Cheese. My paycheck doesn't come until Tuesday. So I have to make do with what I have. I like what Al's church calls a potluck they call it a "KettleFest".
I do know that we are having BBQ'd ribs and chicken today.

I love today's quote in my little devotional calender.
" This stillness feels like your presence, Dear Lord, this hum in the air , your gentle breath, and this sunlight, your purifying touch; but this peace, the kind only you can give, reaches far beyond my understanding"

Pat - that's obviously Etta Sue and her cat, but it has me worried.  You talk about putting out the cat every night, and that means that poor Etta Sue is put out in the cold!  I don't think that's very nice.

The Holy Spirit: We Need Him More and More

But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name,
He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things
that I said to you.
--John 14:26

I have reason to suspect that many people are trying to give
leadership in Christian churches today without ever having yielded to
the wise and effective leading of the Holy Spirit. He truly is the
Spirit of wisdom, understanding and counsel. He alone can bring the
gracious presence of the living God into our lives and ministries.

You may think it out of place for me to say so, but in our churches
today we are leaning too heavily upon human talents and educated
abilities. We forget that the illumination of the Holy Spirit of God
is a necessity, not only in our ministerial preparation, but in the
administrative and leadership functions of our churches.

We need an enduement of the Spirit of God! We sorely need more of His
wisdom, His counsel, His power, His knowledge. We need to reverence
and fear the Almighty God. If we knew the full provision and the
spiritual anointing that Jesus promised through the Holy Spirit, we
would be far less dependent on so many other things.... I have said
it before, and I say it now: We need the Holy Spirit more and more,
and we need human helps less and less!  Jesus Is Victor!, 48.

"Lord, we're drowning in human helps, modern methods, business
principles, and growth strategies. But in all too many cases I fear
that we are indeed lacking the enduement of the Spirit of God. Send
us to our knees, Lord, that we might be reminded that we need Him
more and more. Amen."

Smoky...  THANKS!  What a wonderful analogy.  Oh, that we might have the Light of the Son in our lifes for every step we take.

Thanks for sharing that with all of us.

Jesus I Come
(Click to hear music)

Colossians 1:13
Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness,
and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:

Author:  William T. Sleeper, 1819-1904
Musician:  George C. Stebbings, 1846-1945

Out of my bondage, sorrow, and night,
Jesus, I come, Jesus, I come;
Into Thy freedom, gladness, and light,
Jesus, I come to Thee;
Out of my sickness, into Thy health,
Out of my want and into Thy wealth,
Out of my sin and into Thyself,
Jesus, I come to Thee.

Out of my shameful failure and loss,
Jesus, I come, Jesus, I come;
Into the glorious gain of Thy cross,
Jesus, I come to Thee.
Out of earth's sorrows into Thy balm,
Out of life's storms and into Thy calm,
Out of distress to jubilant psalm,
Jesus, I come to Thee.

Out of unrest and arrogant pride,
Jesus, I come, Jesus, I come;
Into Thy blessed will to abide,
Jesus, I come to Thee.
Out of myself to dwell in Thy love,
Out of despair into raptures above,
Upward for aye on wings like a dove,
Jesus, I come to Thee.

Out of the fear and dread of the tomb,
Jesus, I come, Jesus, I come;
Into the joy and light of Thy throne,
Jesus, I come to Thee.
Out of the depths of ruin untold,
Into the peace of Thy sheltering fold,
Ever Thy glorious face to behold,
Jesus, I come to Thee.

The picture was very good :) :) I went to his site..but couldn't post my comments. Anyway, I think his site was very thought provoking and how he takes just the ordinary and makes it a portrait.

I sang along with the song you posted, Pat.   and ....I enjoyed the morning devotional.

What about that picture of Etta Sue!!  You girls are getting rather professional..better watch out or you'll be getting requests for your art work and soon will be a famous artist  ;D

Hi Everyone:

I went to Willowdale Baptist this morning because my brother in law and sister, Kamyl and Lorraine  are being welcomed in as the new Pastor.   Their son David got up and read scripture and said "Papa this scripture is for you and I know this church is going to  make a big difference in the city of Toronto"   Pat, it was great!

We then went to the Swiss Chalet for lunch.   So far a great and blessed day.

God bless

Ruthie:  What a nice thing for your nephew to say at the church service.  I've never heard of your sister's name before?  You DID have a wonderful Sunday didn't you!

I'm like Kathy - I went to Matt's site, and couldn't figure out how to post a comment either.

Jim Wall:  I see you've made it here to NEM.  I wrote a note to you in the Introduction area...you beat me here.....good for you!  I hope we see more postings from you!

Eta Sue:  Morphring....sure haven't heard of that before either.

Al:  I sent you a note....or tried to, but I don't have a correct email address.  Perhaps you could email me, then I'll have a correct address.  I'm nmckenna@sentex.net
thanks, Al.

Well, I can't even see the photo.  When I click on the link, nothing happens.  :'(

Good to see all of you today.  We went to Bethel Friends this morning, because Abby was begging us to come to "her" church.  Bad day to do that.  Their youth pastor is leaving, and he took 30 minutes to say that he has decided to go back to school, and is leaving.  Very boring. :-\ :-X  Shame on me, but it's true.

Then we spent the afternoon with Diane, Jeff, Mark and Abby.  Diane and Mark helped me get his album in order and add a few more captions.  So I'm on track with that project.

I wanted to attend my church this evening, but we got home too late.  So I'm going to watch Joel Osteen instead.  I love him!   ;D  He's always so positive!

See y'all tomorrow.

Hello Everyone
I know I have not been here in quite a while but life has been very busy around here!  Our church just had our end of the Purpose Driven Life Celebration today and it was a wonderful journey.  I throughly enjoyed the book, the fellowship and our Pastor's message each week.  It has brought me into an even deeper relationship with God and I have a clearer realization on my purposes.
I am the Meals on Wheels Cordinator at my church and we have so many of our congreation who are need right now, that has also been taking up a lot of my time.  Not that I am complaining but I have missed also coming in here to catch up with all of you!
Other than all the business with my church not much else is new.  I have taken on a new little girl in my daycare and she begins next week.  She is a year old so that should keep me hopping a bit also.
Anyway I hope all of you are doing well and I hope to get back in here soon to talk with you all, until then God Bless!!!

Nita, can you please send me a Private Message telling me what kind of trouble you're having?

I know that Janet's problem is a setting in her computer.  She can't even get to the site at all or see a photo that is posted from many sites--even my own private photo site.  So I think it's in her security settings in that they are set too high.

But please outline for me what kind of problem you're having?

Obviously the only ones who can leave a message under Matt's photo are members who have registered.

Pat thanks for putting my photo up!   That is a pretty fun website there.  It puts a little more fucus on photography(pardon the pun).

I think we have a total of 11 votes in the photoshop challenge.

I think Pat will agree we need about a thousand votes in there!!!! Kidding
but I know we can get more than 11

I think someone forgot to put the cat out last night.....

Al, funny!  The cat and myself in that picture neither one goes out at night!!  When I think of putting the cat out at night, I think of the Flintstones cartoon.  Fred always put the cat out before going to bed and suddenly finds himself out and the cat in.  Oh, well.

I am on my way to get the car maintenance today and then eat out with Jerry.  I won't be on here much .... maybe tomorrow a little but maybe not at all after that.... until I return from Florida.

So everyone take care!!!
