JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Morning Devotional...

I love the Lord, because He hath heard my voice and my supplications. We love Him, because He first loved us.
Psalm 116:1; 1 John 4:19

Both writers, though separated by many centuries, had solid reasons for declaring their love for the Lord. (If you are not acquainted with their reasons, why not look them up in your Bible?)

Today, whatever personal reasons we may have for loving Him, we gladly acknowledge that our love for the Lord finds its source in His love for us, so wonderfully shown at Calvary. May that love have an ever-deepening impact upon us!
—G. Hall

When I Survey the Wondrous Cross
(Click to hear music)

May I never boast except
in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Galatians 6:14

Words: Isaac Watts, Hymns and Spiritual Songs, 1707. Charles Wesley reportedly said he would give up all his other hymns to have written this one.
Music: "Hamburg," Lowell Mason, 1824; first appeared in The Boston Handel and Haydn Society Collection of Church Music, third edition, 1825

When I survey the wondrous cross
On which the Prince of glory died,
My richest gain I count but loss,
And pour contempt on all my pride.

Forbid it, Lord, that I should boast,
Save in the death of Christ my God!
All the vain things that charm me most,
I sacrifice them to His blood.

See from His head, His hands, His feet,
Sorrow and love flow mingled down!
Did e'er such love and sorrow meet,
Or thorns compose so rich a crown?

His dying crimson, like a robe,
Spreads o'er His body on the tree;
Then I am dead to all the globe,
And all the globe is dead to me.

Were the whole realm of nature mine,
That were a present far too small;
Love so amazing, so divine,
Demands my soul, my life, my all.

Oh Pat How I wish I had music on this computer.  That is one of my favourite hymns.  I know I say that about most that you post.  LOL  So many memories attached to them.

It is late.  Thank you Al for the explaination on apologetics.  Anyone who has Christian radio may be able to hear Ravi Zacharias speak.  He is amazing and calls himself an apologetisist.  (sp?)

Well WE are going to hang out at the church tomorrow between the time the service is over and drill practise for Melaura.  It makes for a long day, but double tripping is over160 KM  too far and too much fuel too.  So we stay in town.

It has been snowing.  John called and told me he fought snow from North Bay through to the border.  He was tired so stopped there for the night.

Papa John ANd Janet I am praying about both of your situations.  May you feel His presence as you walk through this time of uncertainty and trial.

Well Night all and God Bless

Hi to all.

Pat that song brings many memories and I think you know what I mean.  Thank you for the beautiful encouraging devotionals.

To Pappa John thankyou for your prayers and we will pray for your needs at this time.

May the Lord richly bless your day at his house of worship if you are able to get there.  Good night  GORD.

The Holy Spirit: Preachers Without Power
Now the purpose of the commandment is love from a pure heart, from a
good conscience, and from sincere faith, from which some, having
strayed, have turned aside to idle talk, desiring to be teachers of
the law, understanding neither what they say nor the things which
they affirm.
--1 Timothy 1:5-7
Another thing that greatly hinders God's people is a hardness of
heart caused by hearing men without the Spirit constantly preaching
about the Spirit. There is no doctrine so chilling as the doctrine
of the Spirit when held in cold passivity and personal unbelief. The
hearers will turn away in dull apathy from an exhortation to be
filled with the Spirit unless the Spirit Himself is giving the
exhortation through the speaker. It is possible to learn this truth
and preach it faithfully, and still be totally devoid of power. The
hearers sense the lack and go away with numbed hearts. Theirs is not
opposition to the truth, but an unconscious reaction from unreality.
Yet scarcely one of the hearers can tell another what the trouble
is; it is as if they had been hearing an echo and not the voice, or
seeing a reflection and not the light itself.  Paths to Power, 55.

"Lord, that's a challenging thought. I'm sure that I have many times
preached and taught in my own strength, without the filling and the
power of the Holy Spirit. Deliver me from that error, Lord, that no
one's heart may be hardened through my failure. Amen."

Hi everyone.  Another sunny and beautiful day here in Georgia.

I am ready for time to leave for church, although slept in today.  We are singing an anthem this morning that will wake everyone up as it really moves along.  In the title are the words "Move That Mountain" and it is in a gospel style.

Papa John, sorry to read of Cornelia's depression.  Your lives have been drastically altered in a moments time.

JudyB, you must live out a long ways from your town where your church is located.  Glad John got through the snow.

Pat, thanks for the devotional today and Al thanks for the explanation.

I dod have a new photo that was taken yesterday morning at the Cafe.  My friend Rod got a new camera and e-mailed me a group photo.  I decided it was time to change my picture.

Good Morning Thank you Pat for the devotional.

Thank you Chris for your devotional today. You always post such good stuff.

I am ready for church and Bebe is whining for me to get them a dog cookie. They know that when I leave I give them a cookie and then when I come in the door I give them another one. <3

I have been out to hose down the car to thaw it out, it was all frozen this morning. No wonder I was so cold last night it was freezing. :P

Well  am outta here now.

Hello Everyone...

We're getting a lot of snow here today.  It snowed all night.

Maybe this is winter's last thrust?  Probably not.

It snowed all night here as well.  I have the use of a dear friends pickup.  We stayed home as I am unsure of how it handles in rough weather.  It is still snowing here as well Pat.

Larry yes we live about a half hours drive from North Bay.  everything we do is that drive, as a result you can imagine our fuel usage.  The thing is we love the property we are on.  It is 86 acres of a combination of forest, farmland and we have a stream flowing through it.  It is a beautiful piece of God's country.

I need to go to town today anyway but, The wait will give the plows a chance to clear the roads.

I feel like a fish out of water today I so miss going to church.  But I feel staying home was the wise course of action.

Papa John I am continuing in prayer for you both.  Same goes for other needs mentioned here.

God bless everyone.

Janet

Happy Sunday, and blessings to you!

We had another great service with the presence of God being manifested.  It is SO good to be in His house and to feel His presence there with us.  But our goal should be to STAY in that presence all the time.  That is my prayer.

Papa John, I'm sorry Cornelia is feeling depressed.  I have known several who had that depression following heart problems, so I pray it is only temporary.  And I pray for you all to have the strength and courage to keep on keepin' on until God brings you through to the other side, and all is well again in your household.

Larry, I would have loved hearing your anthem this morning!

I am going now to take Beth some clean clothes and see how she is doing.  I also need to stop by my sister's house, and the grocedry store for a couple items to add to a fellowship at the church tonight.

Hi, JudyB!  I think you were wise to stay home out of that snow.  Thanks for remembering Beth and us in your prayers.

My portrait class starts in the morning, so I will probably be a bit scarce around here this week.  But I will try to remember to post the NEM tomorrow night!  ;)

Thanks Janet.  You and Papa John are always in my prayers.

Melaura has had her ear pop.  On Friday I had the same thing happen.  It is so painful.  She is a determined young lady, she is not allowing this to  stop her.

Still snowing.  How bout you Pat?  Snowing for you too?
The reports say snow squalls today.

Well I am off will be back on about 10:00pm

Monday morning here in Japan...rainy, cold.

Yesterday's message at our church was "The Purpose of the Family".  Very encouraging.

I have been chatting with my son who is studying in San Diego.  He was a little sad after coming home from church.  His loving pastor announced that God had called him to another pastorate.  Casey will be fine.  He realizes that his pastor is an obedient man of God.

My cold is hanging around. It's more of a stuffy head now though, and this pastor gets Mondays off, so I will be resting in front of the SuperBowl today--yes, it is broadcast live here, too.  I can't lose today.  The Steelers were my team in HS and the Seahawks my team during my bible college days.   I went to college in the Seattle area.

I've rambled enough...

The roads were terrible going to church.  I had talked myself in not staying once I got there.  Decided to get done what had to be done with the duplication of tapes and CD's and then I was coming back home.  Pastor Dave asked me how the roads were.  I told him but he said I ought to stay and let the highway cleanup crew work.  I did and the roads were fine coming back home.  The ministers preached on "Gathering a Team of Disciples'.  Last year they covered the Old Testament...this year the new Testament!  Awesome sermons...all the tapes are gone each week!!

Ivalou called me when I got home and said her little church is chartering a bus to go see the Easter Pageant at Southeastern Christian Church in Louisville, Kentucky.  I have seen it once but yes, I will go again.  The sanctuary seats, I think, 10,000 and the stage is in the middle of 3/4th of a circle.  The stage rotates for scenery changes.  Actors/actresses come from all the aisles while singing.  Live donkeys, camels, horses, sheep, goats.  Awesome pageant.  If we go, we will be going March 26th.

JudyB

Hi Etta Sue.  HAve a good night.

It is still snowing here.  Snow drifts at our back door are up to our knees.

I don't know if there will be school tomorrow.  If the winds and drifting keep uip there may be yet another snow day.

I had a hair rising trip into the Bay.  I had to take John's paperwork in to his work.  I am using a friends pick up.  In bad weather I really look for my own vehicle as I know what it is going to do.

Melaura received a new Bible from a friend.  It is beautiful, and she is already getting a lot of use out of it.

Well I am heading to bed

Night all
