Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

The soldiers platted a crown of thorns, and put it on His head, and they put on Him a purple robe.
John 19:2

In hatred and mockery they crowned Him with a crown of thorns. This crown that adorned His blessed head was truly a crown of humility and rejection.

But why a crown of thorns? Because of your sin and mine.

"Thorns also" (Gen. 3:18) are part of the curse, the result of our sin and yet, remarkably at Calvary, to overcome the curse He was made sin for us (2 Cor. 5:21). How thankful we ought to be that He wore this crown of thorns.

In all of this, He never divested the crown of His full deity and soon, in His coming glory, there will be "on His head many crowns" (Rev. 19: 12).
--Jim Comte

All hail the power of Jesus' name!
Let angels prostrate fall;
Bring forth a royal diadem,
And crown Him Lord of all!

I appreciate being able to read these, thanks for posting! I usually read at night after work and it's certainly like cool water when you're thirsty!

Tonight wasn't an easy night. I was working with residents I didn't know, and having to help another with her work as she's even newer there than I am. Someone's family came in and was being difficult, upset that their mother wasn't eating and trying to tell me that her mom had a legal guardian and wasn't "allowed" to refuse food or water. The only other option would be to shove it down her throat, and I'm certainly not going to do that! I understand the daughter's frustration, but if she wants her mom force fed she will need to put her in a hospital or nursing home. I try to treat people like they're my own family there, so it was hard to try to stay calm and understanding while she called my supervisor to complain. Plus it took a lot of time away from other residents who needed to be taken care of.
Then one lady who I'd been caring for this week passed away. I wasn't told right away, but was on my way to lunch when I saw someone walk to the front desk and stopped to see if they needed help. They told me they were from the mortuary and wanted to know which room M***** was in, so that's how I found out. I'm glad I saw them though, it gave me the chance to go in there and see her before they took her.
Went on my break and just cried for a while over it all. On one hand we had a family being unreasonable, but in a way I'm grateful because at least they were there and cared, while the poor woman who passed on tonight, none of her family was there at all. I wish I could have been there with her when she went, but a very good co-worker had been taking care of her tonight so that was good to know.
People really need to care more about the elderly in our society. It's such a sad statement about us as humans when a person's last days are spent among complete strangers, with not even visits from family members.

I am wondering why we are having capital A's with  ^ over them?  Started with Pat's yesterday and ended with Pat's.  Hmmmmm!  What are you doin', Pat?

Judy ~ I had said that I took Stray Cat to the Humane Society...that is why I missed him yesterday.

I am off and running.  I think I will stop and get the car washed before getting Jerry and going to church.  It is sooooooo dirty.  Brown now instead of Teal Blue!

Good Morning.

Happy Birthday Marilyn.

Have a good day Everyone!

Carol

We are preparing for church service and meeting for a meal with cousins in the afternoon.  I have made the fruit salad and now to bake a corn dish.

Happy Birthday to Marilyn I see that my first lesson from PSP is here - thanks for offering to help if I need you - I will email you as you said if needed.  Have a wonderful day.

Hi everyone.  I must leave for Church in just a few minutes.  I didn't have a chance to even visit here on CP yesterday as was gone all morning and after Pat and I went out to lunch I was so tired I had to take a nap.  I then worked creating a new website, for which I am the webmaster, for our PC User Group.  We are issuing a newletter later today and it references the website so wanted to have some content on the site.  I worked from about 3 pm until 11 pm last evening and pretty well got it together.  I now feel some of the pressure is off.

Happy Birthday Marilyn.

Welcome to CP Jordan.

Gina, you are so correct about some of our older folks being forgotten by their family when they go into a nursing home.  You sound like the type of caregiver that care facilities need as you have compassion and concern for each person.  Too bad the daughter was so unpleasant but suppose you just have to know that some of that will come with the job.  Some people can be very unreasonable.

I haven't read any of the postings for yesterday or a few from two days ago.  I will try to do that later today, probably while I watch the Superbowl this evening.

Marilyn

Good morning. Thank you for the Birthday wishes. I have nothing planned for today except for church and the prayer meetings. I think the evening meeting will be short a lot of people because of the Super Bowl Game today, I'm sure it won't be over by 5 pm.

Gina I too care for the elderly that is my job as well as my calling. I am in total agreement with you about the care of the elderly. I Have a 95 yr. old almost blind lady and a 92 yr. old One is 7 days a week and the other is 3 hours per week.  The latter also has 2 other caregivers of which my DIL is one.

Well must go check out the Prayer forum and see who need prayer today.

I have today off so I will be back later after church to check this place out.

Happy Birthday Marilyn!!!!!!!!!!

We didn't go to church again, today.  It seems like we haven't been in a month or so.  Sickness, bedrest, etc.  I called the pastor's wife today and promised her we'd be back.  Sometime. :/

2 days and counting.  And now, back to bed with me . . .

Good morning, friends,

Somehow my lame brain didn't put in the medication for pain to take at breakfast when I was setting up my meds Friday night. By end of the day yesterday I was miserable and could scarcely walk this morning. I discovered it when I thought I would take that medication first thing before leaving my bed so I could begin to get relief. Checked, and most certainly, it wasn't in ANY day's breakfast meds. How dumb I felt!

So, here I am, unable to leave the house right now. Wish church was in a couple of hours... Oh, well, I'll read my bible and the current book I'm reading, then "attend" by tv while sitting in the massage chair.

A friend sent this to me. I hope I can get the letters all aligned so you can see the "hidden" message, too.

"For God so loVed the world,
     That He gAve
        His onLy
        BegottEn
            SoN
              That whosever
    Believeth In Him
       Should Not perish,
     But have Everlasting life."

                                              John 3:16

What a WONDERFUL valentine to receive!

The Holy Spirit: Just Turning the Crank

So he answered and said to me: "This is the word of the Lord to
Zerubbabel: 'Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,' says the
Lord of hosts."
--Zechariah 4:6

I say this because it is possible to run a church and all of its
activity without the Holy Spirit. You can organize it, get a board
together, call a pastor, form a choir, launch a Sunday school and
a ladies' aid society. You get it all organized--and the
organization part is not bad. I'm for it. But I'm warning about
getting organized, getting a pastor and turning the crank--some
people think that's all there is to it, you know.

The Holy Spirit can be absent and the pastor goes on turning the
crank, and nobody finds it out for years and years. What a tragedy,
my brethren, what a tragedy that this can happen in a Christian
church! But it doesn't have to be that way! "He who has an ear,
let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches"
(Revelation 3:22)....

If you could increase the attendance of your church until there is
no more room, if you could provide everything they have in churches
that men want and love and value, and yet you didn't have the Holy
Spirit, you might as well have nothing at all. For it is "'Not by
might nor by power, but by my Spirit,' says the Lord Almighty"
(Zechariah 4:6). Not by the eloquence of a man, not by good music,
not by good preaching, but it is by the Spirit that God works His
mighty works.  The Counselor, 38-39.

"Oh, Lord, I have no desire to 'run a church' or have any part of
just 'turning the crank.' In whatever ministry I am ever involved,
I pray that Your Holy Spirit would be present with His controlling
power. Amen."

God has obviously given you a tender heart towards seniors.  I suppose it is hard to let them go and I think it is also hard to provide the kind/level of care you would like to give when so many regulations interfere with doing it.

Thank you for what you do!!!!

Gina, I certainly say "amen" to Fast Eddie's comments, and may God bless you in the difficult work that you are doing.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MARILYN!!!

Yes-----the ministry of the Holy Spirit is vital.  Without Him, everything we try to do is only dead works.  Good reminder, Chris.

We had 14 new adults and several children join the church this morning!!!  Isn't that wonderful?  And us without a pastor, too.  To me, this speaks of the church truly seeking the leadership of the Holy Spirit and being about ministering to each other in the body.  Darrel and I were among those joining this morning.  ;D

I need to go over and change Beth's bed, wash her sheets and see if I can make her more comfortable.  Wish I had some boots, the mud is awful.  Her headaches are still really severe.  I think I will skip out of my portrait painting class tomorrow long enough to take her to the doctor here and see if he has any ideas or remedies that might give her some relief.

This is the day lots of guys wait all season for---SUPER BOWL SUNDAY!!  I wouldn't miss it if there wasn't ever another football game, but glad they like the entertainment!  It sounds as if they are getting started now, I hear lots of loud cheering from the TV Darrel is watching!  Have fun, guys and gals!  I might even watch a little of it myself.

Thank You everyone for your prayers regarding my mother. She is still in the hospital recovering from her surgery. they put her on a ventilator following the surgery which is SOP for that type of operation, i guess. they haven't been able to get her off it yet because She had developed pneumonia and they want to clear that up before they take her off it. they also keep her sedated because she moves around a lot and isn't very comfortable with all those tubes in her and all. I'm hoping they can get her off the ventilator tomorrow.

Marilyn!  I just looked at all your beautiful Birthday cards and I'm really impressed!  I don't think I've ever known anyone who received so many cards made with such love.... You are blessed, indeed.   ;)

Karmat...shame on you....get back to bed.  Good for Bernard...get after that gal of yours! ;)

Super Bowl is on here too.  I made TBear's sloppy joe recipe for tonight's supper....so good., and I have enough left for tomorrow night.

Right now, its half-time....I sure can't see what they all see in Paul McCartney's singing...can you?

Gina:  I hope that if ever I am in a long term facility - I hope that I would have someone like you or Marilyn to care for me!   As Eddie has already said.  "Thank you for what you do"!  So many times, media prints terrible things about nursing home places.

John:  I am remembering your Mother in prayer.

Janet:  I will pray for Beth too.  She is so fortunate to have you there.  I hope those headaches soon leave.

Etta Sue:  You are one clever gal!...Car wash yet!....Too funny!

I hope they find a good home for stray cat.  Was it difficult to take her/him away?

In our local newspaper, there were pictures of terrible animal abuse.  One poor little border collie, had so many sores all over his body, and his ribs were showing something awful.  He will probably have to be put down.  Poor little guy.

Oh - before I forget.  Beautiful cards,Marilyn - for a beautiful lady.

Happy Birthday!!

Love.....Judy
