Morning Devotional... For He shall grow up before Him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground. Isaiah 53:2
In the wilderness of this world our Lord grew fragrantly for the pleasure of God.
Whether in Galilee, in Samaria, or in Judea, He continually and consistently refreshed the heart of His Father.
Men did not appreciate Him. They did not recognize His moral beauty.
But He grew up "before Him." The eye of God was ever upon Him with divine satisfaction and delight.

Words by C. A. Wellesley
Gathered to Thy name, Lord Jesus,
Losing sight of all but Thee,
Oh, what joy Thy presence gives us,
Calling up our hearts to Thee!
Loved with love which knows no measure
Save the Father's love to Thee,
Blessed Lord, our hearts would treasure
All the Father's thoughts of Thee.
All His joy, His rest, His pleasure,
All His deep delight in Thee;
Lord, Thy heart alone can measure
What Thy Father found in Thee.
How He set His love upon Thee,
Called Thee His beloved Son;
Yet for us He did not spare Thee,
By Thy death our life was won.
Oh, the joy, the wondrous singing
When we see Thee as Thou art,
Thy blest name, Lord Jesus, bringing
Sweetest music to God's heart!
Notes of gladness, songs unceasing,
Hymns of everlasting praise,
Psalms of glory, joy increasing,
Through God's endless day of days!
6.45 a.m.
Pat thank-you.
Pouring with rain here right now.
I got up at 6 a.m. this morning. My little dog Sunday, has a poorly ear and I had to put some drops in for her.
Not stopping as I want to have a prayer time and BibleStudy. It's the best time of day to do that. So lovely and peaceful here., I want also later this day to read more of "The Heavenly Man"..a wonderful life story, I reviewed it in Book Nook although I haven't finished it yet...won't be long though. It's amazing. Then chapter 5 of P.D.F. I have to get on with my reading as I have 2 books on order from Amazon, suggested to me by our own dear IainThanks bro.
A Blessed Lord's Day
To all of you,
Love,
Jenny
Sunday morning. God's Day! Isn't it wonderful to have a day every seven days to encourage us to put God first in our lives. Every day is God's day but Sunday is a celebration of days past and hope for the future.
I am dressed and ready for church. Short night. This little kitty has some weird habits! She insists on getting in my face and purring real loud. And I mean 'in my face'! That gives me a weird feeling. Remember the old wive's tale about cats sucking the breath from babies? Now I believe it! This little Inky I think could. But I will have her broke of it soon, I hope. She is a smart little kitty and knows the word 'NO!' already!
Lee, I feel for Vivian. If Vivian has the least bit of claustrophia, please tell her to have them give her a sedative. Oh, I shudder when I think of an MRI now.
Soni-baloney, I love that nickname. Like Pat says, you may be sorry you told us that! ;)
Pat, I too was thinking about you all day yesterday. It was three years ago the 7th that Mom went to the great reunion in heaven.
Marilyn, I feel for you with that pain. Once I think it is getting better, it starts up again. Even cleaning the litter box this morning caused me terrific pain. And making the bed....whew!!!
I am praying that everyone has a God-filled day!»ïÏï«,¸¸,»ïÏï«,¸¸,»ïÏï«,¸¸,»ïÏï«,¸¸,»ïÏï«,¸¸,»ïÏï«,¸¸,»ïÏï«,¸¸,»ïÏï«,¸¸,»ïÏï«

Good morning everyone!!
Today is a special day at the Shuford household. TAS officially leaves infanthood and enters toddlerdom. ;D :'( ;)
Travis is 2, today.
Where, oh where, does time go??
Question for thought. How should a Christian deal with conflict? With the fellow Christian and with the non-Christian. I am just curious how all ya'll approach it. That is, if you ever have conflict with others! ;)
Hi everyone. It is a sunny morning here and going to get into the 50s today. I shudder as I ready about how cold it is in Canada, New York and Idaho and other places as well. Last year in January we were in Iowa and it got down to -12 one morning and I didn't enjoy that one bit and my car didn't either.
We will be heading to Sunday School and church in about an hour. Don't know yet whether Pat will want to dine out after church, but probably she will.
Karma, this should be a big day for Travis as he turns two and new challenges and joys await you as well during this next year.
Sonja, congratulations to Troy on his swim meet victory. Hope your photo shoot went well. Know you were looking forward to doing it.
Etta Sue, just one more day before you may find some relief from the pain. Just close that bedroom door and leave the bed unmade a day or so if it is giving you pain. :D The litter box may be a different story!
Jenny, I also find the early morning is the best time to do devotional study and Bible reading. My mind is fresher and the house is quiet. I saw your book review and that book sounds very good. I think I will check with my library to see if they have it. They do have a large variety of inspirational books on the shelves.
I get a newsletter daily from Kim Komando, who is a computer guru, and she also has a radio program talking about computers. In her newsletter today she talked about free online Bibles and gave the link to the Bible Gateway site to fine Bibles in different versions and in many languages as well as many research and reference books being available online. I was surprised and happy to see this as her recommended site of the day.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY
QuoteEvery day is God's day but Sunday is a celebration of days past and hope for the future.
Etta Sue - that's the best definition of "the Christian Sabbath" that I've seen. The reason we have that day is that Christ arose on it - and His resurrection is the only and best reason for hope. His resurrection is also the reason anything we did during the week was blessed and glorifying to God.
Thank you for that!

Personal Life: Longing for God
As the deer pants for the water brooks, so pants my soul for You, O
God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come
and appear before God?
--Psalm 42:1-2
O God, I have tasted Thy goodness, and it has both satisfied me and
made me thirsty for more. I am painfully conscious of my need of
further grace. I am ashamed of my lack of desire. O God, the Triune
God, I want to want Thee; I long to be filled with longing; I thirst
to be made more thirsty still. Show me Thy glory, I pray Thee, that
so I may know Thee indeed. Begin in mercy a new work of love within
me. Say to my soul, "Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away."
Then give me grace to rise and follow Thee up from this misty
lowland where I have wandered so long. In Jesus' name. Amen. The
Pursuit of God, 20.
"...I want to want Thee; I long to be filled with longing; I thirst
to be made more thirsty still. Amen."
Thanks for sharing that, Chris... I think that we could sing this after reading your little "Insight for Leaders"...

Psalm 42:1
"As the hart panteth after the water brooks,
so panteth my soul after thee, O God."
As the deer panteth for the water,
So my soul longs after you.
You alone are my hearts desire,
And I long to worship You.
Chorus
You alone are my strength, my shield;
To You alone may my spirit yield.
You alone are my hearts desire,
and I long to worship You.
I want you more than gold or silver,
Only You can satisfy.
You alone are the real joy giver
And the apple of my eye.
Chorus
You alone are my strength, my shield;
To You alone may my spirit yield.
You alone are my hearts desire,
and I long to worship You.
You're my friend and You're my brother,
Even though you are a King.
I love You more than any other
So much more than anything.
Chorus
You alone are my strength, my shield;
To You alone may my spirit yield.
You alone are my hearts desire,
and I long to worship You.

Good morning...
Ruth, Ruth Ann Bice, Rachelle
Ruth Ann, is all that moving done now?
Rachelle, did little Zachery see his birthday wishes on here?
What a prayer!
Quote"...I want to want Thee; I long to be filled with longing; I thirst
to be made more thirsty still. Amen."
How I WISH the moving is complete. Leslie was ill in bed for Sunday through Wednesday, and I can't make his decisions as to what to keep and what not to keep. So, I'm afraid the closing will have to be postponed a few days.
I worked Friday and he had a number of places he had to go - then, yesterday, his head hurt terribly and I was so tired I just rested and/or slept all day.
Thanks for your prayers.
Ruth Ann
Happy Birthday Travis
A quick hello to all. Now with the house quiet I will be defrag. the system as it is a challenge to do so, we go in through the back door so to speak it get the job done and I always have the concern of not doing it right if you all know what I mean.

Janet: One of my sons always tells anyone who is having a computer problem to get rid of that computer - it will never be the same again. Well, we didn't listen the last time we had problems with this Gateway but it might have been worth it to buy another rather than spend the months we have in restoring this and having feeble-minded technicans work on it. :P
Lee: Sorry about Vivian's pain in her arm. I had upper spine surgery almost twenty years ago when similar problem appeared and it is great now except I can tell if it is going to rain. Saw your Idaho pictures and that is the reason we didn't move to our mountains - they had 3 feet of snow on our property on the last snowfall! We lived much like that the dozen years we lived in Minnesota and I can close my eyes and feel the bone-chilling wind. Beautiful though.
Pat: Thank you once again for such a lovely opener for the day. I hope all is going well for you. It sounds like your computer problems are really huge too.
Etta Sue: Praying for your pain to go away.
Marilyn: You are in my prayers as well.
Carol
Hello everyone!! We had a good service at church. Today was my first Sunday morning as the choir director. Don't have a clue what I'm doing.
Then we went ot mom's and had a birthday party for the Travis. I'll try to get a picture or two posted of him and his cake, etc.
Just cruisin' around. Back later (if I can stay awake).
My goodness, Karma! Choir Director! Wow! That's quite an honour. Looking forward to the photos of the cake, etc. How's the potty training doing? You and Sonja are in this at the same time. Lila Mae and Travis both in Potty Training Boot Camp!
Hi Carol. I'm doing just fine! How could one not be with the friends we have at CP?
Hope your defragining goes fine, Ruth.
Praying for you, Ruth Ann with all that you are going through.
Now, Marilyn and Etta Sue! I hope to hear that the arm pain is long gone soon. It's awful to be going through this.
I was here early this morning to thank Pat and Chris for the devotions, as I started writing my post everything on my screen froze, the cursor wouldn't move or any thing, I had to close everything and run the clean up and defrag. It seems to be working now.
The arm pain is there and that is all I will say about that. Not going to dwell on the pain.
Will go now and check the other folders and get off the computer before it gets any worse.
PS Thank you Pat for Psalm 42 song.
I knew you'd enjoy that music, Marilyn. I still have it playing here in the background.
PAT I ALSO THANK YOU FOR THE PSALM 42 SONG IT IS ONE OF MY LOVELY SONGS
AND IT WAS THE LOVELY SONG OF MY MOTHER WE HAVE
SING THE PSALM WITH HERE FUNERAL.

Here I am again! We attended church at Bether Friends today and Pastor Eric is preaching through Genesis. Today we were on cahpter 34. Boy! That chapter is a downer, but he handled it very well, pointed out really good life lessons, both to teens and adults, and was one of the better sermons I have heard him preach.
We had lunch with the kids, the Abby and I undecorated their Christmas tree while the guys watched the football game....... :( The Chiefs lost......... :' Now we are home again, and I must get myself organized to get a lot of things accomplished tomorrow!
It's good to read all your posts here today. Carol, thanks for the word of advice---guess we are going to get another motherboard for now, and pray it works well. I miss my computer!! >:( >:( :-\ :'((
HAPPY SECOND BIRTHDAY, TRAVIS!!

Hi Larry!
My photo shoot went pretty good. I didn't have much natural light because she got here closer to 5 and the clouds covered the sun so I had to use my own light. Which my camera doesn't like. I got a few good ones out of it. I just hope she likes them.
I learned so much this weekend and Sunday school just topped it off. We are learning about wisdom. I am learning things that are going to help me in dealing with others in my life.
Which brings me to Karma's question about conflict. How do I deal with conflict with others.
Being a somewhat new christian I would have to say I really don't argue with a non-christian. If the conversation has to do with God then I will state my opinion and leave it at that. I will quote some verses out of the bible and will do that more as I learn more.
Dealing with Christians seems to be harder because some are dead set in their ways. We had a good conversation in Sunday school about, "if we are saved even after we except Jesus and still sin." There was one fellow that thought we had to be perfect. I didn't say a word, but the older folks in the group had their say in it and it went real well, the gentlemen was open to new ideas. Not sure how it ended because I had to practice with the choir.
I feel the biggest thing, which is something I learned this weekend is be patient and trust God!!!
A verse I came across:
Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.
Another good way to deal with conflict for me is to forgive. You can not let go of your hurt and anger unless you forgive.
Matthew 6:14-15
For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:
But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
Try to put yourself in their shoes. Where are they coming from? Why are they doing and saying what they are? Give them the oportunity to speak their mind. LISTEN to others! It is hard to hear others when you are so set in your ways and think "I am right and they are wrong."
Proverbs 1:5
A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels.
Do I follow all these? No, but I am sure trying.
We had a new pastor speak today. He was good. The church will vote whether to let him stay or not next week. I like him and his wife. I vote yes, because the word he preached was very powerful and truthful.
Not sure what we have planned for the day. Maybe relax and do nothing and then back to church at 6:30 tonight. I just love church!
Hope you all are having a great day!
Love
Soni
Thank you to the members who have sent greeting. I found this new forum thanks to another member who posts in one of my other photography forums.
I too am looking to regain my closessness with Christ and God by devotional readings and with research.
I am amazed at the crossing over so many religons have with one another.
I will in deed log on each day to read your devotions and keep you all in my prayers.

Hi Laura (may I call you that?)... We'll all be so happy to see you posting. The coffee is fresh in here and the water is just coming up to the boil for a pot of tea. So pull up a chair and make yourself at home. Where do you live? I'm up here in Canada in Ontario and it's sure cold today!
HI Laura (funpix)!!
Glad you are posting already.
How did your day go? We would really like to get to know you in here. Please tell us a little about yourself.

"Thanks for the harmonica you gave me for Christmas," little Joshua said to his uncle, the first time he saw him after the holidays. "It's the best present I ever got."
"That's great," said his uncle. "Do you know how to play it?"
"Oh, I don't play it," the little fellow replied. "My mom gives me a dollar a day not to play it during the day and my dad gives me five dollars a week not to play it at night!"

Oh, Pat! That's priceless - especially because Gene has just bought a really good harmonica for Jake! ;D

Marilyn, if you peep in before your surgery, Bernard, Travis and I will be remembering you in prayer.
Sonifo, thanks for your answers. I think you are right on. I may open up a thread in Manna -- be watching for it!!
Has anyone heard from Trish lately? I was thinking about her this evening.
Take care. I may head to bed in a minute or two, so if I don't "see" you again, I will try to post tomorrow when I get to work.

Jesus loves you, you know.
Kamrat
In Sunday School today, one of our pastors asked a thought provoking question:
"If there was not Satan nor demons, would there be sin in the world?"
That led to our Bible quiz director's question:
"Did Adam have belly button?"
Which leads to my question:
Whaddya think about that?
Marilyn We hope you pop in, so you have the assurance that we all here are praying for you. Rest assured in knowing that the Father's hands are under you.
Love you sis.

Etta Sue..........

Hi Ed!
Nice to see you here! I really mean that.
Here's a good site about that...
Did Adam or Eve have a belly button? (http://www.answersingenesis.org/creation/v18/i3/bellybutton.asp)
Great question!
Fast Eddie..........
I haven't gone to Pat's site, but I have what I believe to be far more important than your initial question, and it's..........The Second Adam, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ did, and He was thus called "The Son of man".
Sorry Lee, if you're still posting. I must lock the door. But please continue your posts in the topic for tomorrow, ok?
I must get to my bed.
Love y'all!
Let's all remember to pray for our Marilyn both tonight and tomorrow as she undergoes her surgery.
