Morning Devotional... Consider Him ...
Hebrews 12:3
Four similes, or comparisons, found in Isaiah 53:2 and 7 very beautifully portray the Lord Jesus in life and in death.
His growing up delighted His Father, for He was as lovely as "a tender plant," and as pleasing "as a root (sprouting shoot) out of the dry ground."
Ever marked by obedience and submissiveness, He went "as a lamb" to His appointed death.
Without murmur or complaint, He gave Himself, "as a sheep, dumb before her shearers."

When they were come to the place,
which is called Calvary,
there they crucified Him.
Luke 23:33
Words: Manie P. Ferguson (1850-1932)
Fairest of all the earth beside,
Chiefest of all unto Thy bride,
Fullness divine in Thee I see,
Beautiful Man of Calvary!
Refrain
That Man of Calvary
Has won my heart from me,
And died to set me free,
Blest Man of Calvary!
Granting the sinner life and peace,
Granting the captive sweet release,
Shedding His blood to make us free,
Merciful Man of Calvary!
Refrain
Giving the gifts obtained for men,
Pouring out love beyond our ken,
Giving us spotless purity,
Bountiful Man of Calvary!
Refrain
Comfort of all my earthly way,
Jesus I'll meet Thee some sweet day;
Center of glory Thee I'll see,
Wonderful Man of Calvary!

Jesus, Jesus, Jesus
There's just something about that name
Master, Saviour, Jesus
Like the fragrance after the rain
Jesus, Jesus, Jesus
Let all Heaven and Earth proclaim
Kings and kingdoms
Will all pass away
But there's something about that Name.

I just have to tell this story before I forget it again......
Yesterday I was cleaning out my wood furnace in the basement. After removing some of the ash but not half of it, I returned to the open furnace door and Flory, my white cat was inside laying down. Anyone want a gray cat?
(https://www.christianphotographers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fchristianphotographers.com%2Fforum%2Fgraphics%2FwelcomeBird.jpg&hash=f6e4bc05487dc9ac0b8e9c784405f6cb26198a0a)
Welcome craftysue!
We're so happy to be able to welcome you here![/b]
I can't believe all this talk about cats. I was so surprised because this very day my daughter, grandaughter and I went to the pound and got another cat. :) :) We are all thinking cats at the same time. We found one with the written words on her cage, "Barn Cat". It was either Barn Cat or Oreo. Barn cat is a feral, common as all get out, and sweet and loving. Oreo was black and white and had a sign that said, "Very affectionate!" That told me she would be under my feet all the time. haha Angel finally decided(I helped her decide....more than she knew)that we wanted Barn Cat. So we collected Barn Cat and brought her home. Her name is now Shadow.
I have an outside cat, Cuddles, who prefers being out. We also have Katie who likes being inside, and now Barn Cat who has been named Shadow. She'll be in for the night at least, until we can be sure she knows where she lives. I have her in the bathroom tonight, with food, a nice bed, and a litter box. haha I need to know if she can figure out what it is. In a few days she will let me know if she wants to be an inside, or outside, cat.
I didn't used to be such an animal person...but I can't stand to think of those animals being put down. I can't take them all, but we took one who might not get taken by anyone. All my cats are just ordinary grey stripes.....and I think God placed them with me. Two came from the pound, and one,Katie, had a home, but was never allowed in. She's living high on the hog here. :)
Lee, that's funny about Flory
Pat, I love that song. I could never tire of it, or saying the name, Jesus. :) Also thank you for the Andrew Murray link. I've bookmarked that.
Papa John, thanks for posting your study. It's so good to be reminded of that. I pray that your words will go deep into hearts tomorrow.
Good night, everyone. :-*

Personal Life: Healing Silence
And when He had sent them away, He departed to the mountain to pray.
--Mark 6:46
Very few of us know the secret of bathing our souls in silence. It was
a secret our Lord Jesus Christ knew very well. There were times when
He had to send the multitudes away so He could retire alone into the
silence of the mountainside. There He would turn the God-ward side of
His soul toward heaven and for a long time expose Himself to the face
of His Father in heaven....
My eyes and ears and spirit are aware of the immaturities in the
so-called evangelicalism of our time. The more noise we make, the
happier we seem to be. All of the signs of immaturity are among us.
We are seeing a general abhorrence of being alone, of being silent
before the Lord. We shrink from allowing our souls to be bathed in
the healing silences. Men Who Met God, 103-104.
"Father, we've focused for several days on the need for solitude and
silence. Grant that we might not forsake the quest until we have
really mastered this discipline, no matter how busy our lives
continue to be. Amen."
8.30 A.M. U.K.Thick white frost here today..
Good Morning All.
Thank you dear Pat for the devotionals and the chorus.
Puts me in mind of another chorus:-
Jesus Jesus Jesus,
Sweetest Name I know,
Fills my heart with longing,
Keeps me singing as I go.
Nita, I have two rescued black long haired cats and one rescued Yorkshire terrier dog. My big boy cat Pushkin has a pin holding one of his legs to his hip...thrown from a second floor window when a kitten. My other cat bless her was just an unwanted kitten but delivered to me by the cat rescue services. Sunday my doggie had a dreadful life prior to coming here and my wonderful deceased friend Piquet (dog) had three owners before me.....mad world.
Let do not let us forget that children also suffer unbelievable cruelty. One child was recently found in a polythene bag and had been kept in there and starved.Did Jesus really say "Suffer the children to come unto Me, for of such is the kingdom of Heaven?"...How difficult it must be to witness to those who have suffered inhumanities in their childhood. I thank God for Christians like our own Carol and her Team going out onto the streets and talking to homeless folks about Jesus. Who knows what dreadful experiences they may have had which put them there.
Father in Heaven I thank-you for my own childhood and I pray today for all children everywhere, suffering cruelty and for all childrens charities and organisations to receive funding and help in their mighty work. In Jesus' Name. Amen.
God Bless All

I am ready for church. Yesterday we had some rain that turned to ice. I am praying it isn't icy out there. I see cars on the highway going pretty fast and the ones going past the house seem to be going regular speed (fast) also. Would rather have snow!!!
Cats! My, we all do have a lot of cats. I think I am going to take advice from Pinkie and shut mine out a few nights and see if I can sleep better. A short night of sleep last night because two others in the room wanted to play.
I also shut Inky in the closet this morning. She sure didn't like that!!!
I am praying that everyone has a wonderful day with God today in His house.<:))))><<~~<:))))><<~~<:))))><<~~<:))))><<~~<:))))

I have finally succeeded in getting my computer to work so will try another posting. The Computer Guy has made such a mess of things....seems like if Amanda is using her laptop, I keep going off-line. So weary from all of the endless problems that keep happening and new things not working. Even bought a non-electrical paper towel holder, got it home, and a part was missing. Doesn't that shake up one's preserves...!!
Love reading the posts when this thing stays on-line. Thank goodness for the sanity that exists here. All the interesting talk about cats is fun. Did that get started when I talked about our resident house kitty??
God certainly must have given humans pets to bring joy and comfort as they certainly do both.
Went shopping with Wendy and got lots of groceries, had a Latte at Starbucks, found some nice clothes for Amanda as a surprise (sale time right now) and collapsed for the rest of the afternoon. Still so tired from the move and all these stressful happenings is causing health problems. Think Satan is trying to really mess up a good thing here....A word or two of prayer from you folks would be greatly appreciated.
Talked to Al and he is still able to speak on the phone. Prayed for him and leave things in our dear Lords's care.
I started 'The Purpose Driven Life' and find it of great interest. Will spend time today and try to check out what is happening with the study on CP. Don't have anyone to study with me and now will need time to find a ride to church...unless Wendy decides to go on Sunday. Will pray about that also. Will also start my 52 week Bible Read today. Think this will be a good day to spend time with the Lord and try to get back on track. Calm down about problems and enjoy the lovely home here and not let the world intrude. Can resolve the problems on Monday!
Plan to read as long as this thing stays on-line. Stayed up most of the night trying things to get it working and so joining the early birds like Ria, Chris, Jenny, etc. Your postings bring such comfort friends.
I love your poems Ria.
Will go and read in the other earlier posts. Still not caught up....and this computer seems to be agin me!
God Bless and have a great Sunday. Liz.

My soul will be satisfied as with the richest of foods; with singing lips my mouth will praise you. Psalm 63:5
Luther B. Bridges, 1884-1948
HE KEEPS ME SINGING
There's within my heart a melody
Jesus whispers sweet and low,
Fear not, I am with thee, peace, be still,
In all of life's ebb and flow.
Refrain
Jesus, Jesus, Jesus,
Sweetest Name I know,
Fills my every longing,
Keeps me singing as I go.
All my life was wrecked by sin and strife,
Discord filled my heart with pain,
Jesus swept across the broken strings,
Stirred the slumbering chords again.
Refrain
Feasting on the riches of His grace,
Resting 'neath His sheltering wing,
Always looking on His smiling face,
That is why I shout and sing.
Refrain
Though sometimes He leads through waters deep,
Trials fall across the way,
Though sometimes the path seems rough and steep,
See His footprints all the way.
Refrain
Soon He's coming back to welcome me,
Far beyond the starry sky;
I shall wing my flight to worlds unknown,
I shall reign with Him on high.
Refrain

Hi everyone. Will be leaving for church in just a couple of minutes so won't write much this morning.
Jenny, isn't this the hymn you were speaking of in your message above? This has always been one of my favorites.
Welcome to Craftysue and happy birthday to Kevin and Anthony.
I have read the postings but will not make many comments this morning. Liz, hope your computer situation will be straightened out soon. I have a computer network in my home and we are all on the computer at the same time using the DSL line and the phone lines as wiring.
Ria, glad to hear you now have chairs on which to sit at church as that should be much better for your back.
Kathy, it is raining over this way as well but should stop around noon. I understand we will be getting colder weather tomorrow. UGH! :'(
Chris, that was a good devotional message this morning you posted, as was the one that Pat started with for today.
Nita, I might be able to put up with two cats but sure don't think I would care to have 4 or 5. One just about drives me up a wall sometimes.
Time to go to church.
Good Morning, It is raing here this morning, Hey Pat I thought crafty Sue was already a member sometime ago. anyway Welcome Craftysue
Happy Birthday
Anthony

Kevin
I am ready to go to church and be the walking testimony that I am today. Praise the Lord
God is good all the time

We attended church and a fine sermon by the younger pastor. One song they had us sing was totally unknown and difficult because they didn't print the music - barely anyone could sing it so that didn't go over well at all. It was a peaceful and thoughtful time.
Now for little things to do today and I am sewing later - do remember when my mother wouldn't sew on a Sunday. Later, she did but she was raised to not work on Sunday afternoons. We used to have visitors - company for noon and then later a 2nd. church service. We had to do our yardwork on Saturdays even in the rain because everything had to be finished for the weekend in one day. Now, Sunday is the biggest shopping day of the week - we try not to go to any store on a Sunday but have been lax in that regard as well.
Happy Birthday Anthony and Kevan!

Welcome CraftySue!

That's it. Thank-you. We sang this in Sunday School and it means a lot to me. Beautiful...right tune also.

Good morning, friends,
We had a wonderful day of fellowship yesterday. I awakened at 3:30 am and drove to Atlanta, arriving just as the family was beginning to move about. We enjoyed a great breakfast - all my immediate family (including my son who lives in England and his son) with exception of my daughter who had to work at the hospital here in Nashville.
It was such a good time of conversation and hugs. As well, the day was calm and peaceful.
Leslie had a doctor's appointment and should rest for several hours after being seen. So, the rest of us went trouping off to Kassie's basketball game (she's in a league of 6-8 year olds). She is good at the freethrow line, and made 4 of the team's 11 points.
Well, all were sad to disband, but Lesie and I arrived back in Nashville about 10 pm and Rob and Danny went to Rome, GA to Rob's home for the weekend. Danny is an entertainer in England, and is here to record another CD for sales at his performances.
Danny and we Nashville Bices will be together Tuesday through Thursday morning, then I'll take him back to Atlanta for his flight back to England and Leslie will then see the doctor Thursday afternoon and Friday morning.
So, for this week, I'm VERY thankful for vacation from work.
Thank you for keeping my family in prayers. No, the problems we prayed about so desperately a week or so ago are not completely eradicated, but I'm trying to take each day as it comes and be thankful for the good times.
Ruth Ann
Judy B., I think the passage you are asking about is :
Matt 7:1-5
1 "Do not judge, or you too will be judged.
2 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.
3 "Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?
4 How can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when all the time there is a plank in your own eye?
5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye. (NIV)
We had a wonderful Bible class and morning worship this morning. In the Bible class we studied the Parable of tower and of the King going into war. Chris, our preacher spoke on taking up your cross and following Jesus. The singing was an inspiration to us all.
Good to see everyone today.

Hello All,
had a real good day, ( but then every day in Him is good!) :)
Church was great, nice to be back after missing two sundays with the bug.
Then we went and treated ourselves at a Chinese restaurant, Wan Ton soup, then crispy duck, wow!
Then listened to Adrian Rogers preaching on Joshua ch. 3 on the "God" channel.
"Keep your eyes on the Ark, when God moves, you move, and not before, and not too late"
Margit and I have been praying for our neighbourhood, that God would lead us to other Christians here, so that we can pray together for those souls who live around us.
Then perhaps we can evangelise the area, please join with us in prayer here, that we will see His Name glorified and many people saved.
What a terrific sounding lunch, Chris! Was the duck rather fatty? I've found it to be so over here.
I will join you in prayer for this specific purpose. What a wonderful request! And thanks so much for the little devotionals that you've been putting in. I sure find them so helpful.
Let's sing one of CP's favourites...

As the deer panteth for the water[/size] (http://www.christianphotographers.com/sounds/asthedeer.mid)

Written by Martin Nystrom
Psalm 42:1
"As the hart panteth after the water brooks,
so panteth my soul after thee, O God."
As the deer panteth for the water,
So my soul longs after you.
You alone are my hearts desire,
And I long to worship You.
Chorus
You alone are my strength, my shield;
To You alone may my spirit yield.
You alone are my hearts desire,
and I long to worship You.
I want you more than gold or silver,
Only You can satisfy.
You alone are the real joy giver
And the apple of my eye.
Chorus
You alone are my strength, my shield;
To You alone may my spirit yield.
You alone are my hearts desire,
and I long to worship You.
You're my friend and You're my brother,
Even though you are a King.
I love You more than any other
So much more than anything.
Chorus
You alone are my strength, my shield;
To You alone may my spirit yield.
You alone are my hearts desire,
and I long to worship You.

Chris, just had to comment on the Tozer thing you posted. (I am so blessed by that dear man's writings). I am absolutely convinced that most people's fear of silence is the one thing lacking in our ability to hear God. We are either asking for something or confessing, or even singing to God.........but so seldom absolutely unrushed and embracing the sound of this silence. I was a Christian for 10 years before this truth every settled in my spirit. I've tried to describe what happens, and the only thing I've come up with is "you sort of absorb God". That sounds tacky I know, but the fruit of a deeper love and greater adoration gives me rest about the whole thing. I seldom try to explain it, but was so refreshed to see your post about it.
Larry, haha....if I had 4 cats all wanting my attention, I'd be bonkers too. Cuddles is always outdoors, and Katie is shy and never would dream of rubbing on you or demanding your attention. She'd rather lay in front of the stove or in a corner out of the way if anyone is here. This new one seems to be more playful, but isn't the wrap-around-my-feet kind. The only one who likes to do that is the one who also likes to be outdoors all the time. Works out perfectly for this family. Just as long as they respect each other and me, we will do fine.
Shadow is definately indoors until she is spayed. :) Hopefully very soon.
We had a good service today too. :)
Happy Birthday to those with this day, and welcome to any guests peeking in. Crafty Sue, it seems like I've seen your name somewhere else. Maybe in a PSP class, or DPC? I can't remember.....but then, that should be no surprise to anyone. HAHA
Larry thank you for the nice hymn this
afternoon.
Yes the news chairs in the church are awesome now i have no problems more.
PAT Thank you for Psalm 42 that have we also singing in the church this morning my lovely psalm.
I wish you all a good evening and goodnight in Holland it is 10.15 PM about a little hour we are going to bed. Tomorrow morning at 6.30 AM we
must wake up but then have you all night on the other
sight of the ocean.
Bye till tomorow
RIA :)
We had a wonderful service this morning and everyone was so surpised to see me. When I arrived the worhip team was practicing, when they finished I noticed than none of our four member prayer team was there except for me. Which didn't make any difference because I prayed anyway. about 1/2 hour later two more members showed up just in time for all of us to gather into the circle and pray.
We had a guest speaker from the Gideon Bible Society whose wife just happens to work in my doctors office. My Doctor had attended his wedding. Well he went on the tell me that my doctor prayed for every patient and before any decision or surgery. So no wonder I am so Blessed and Healing so quick.
Every time God has healed me He has done it in a spectacular way and am amazed anew everytime.
I know in my knower (as my pastor says) That God has planted me here and taken me literally out of the desert (Mojave) and set me here. I have come to the palace from the pit.Amen? Praise the lord.
Sleigh bells ring, Are you listening?
In the lane,snow is glistening,
A beautiful sight, we're happy today,
Driving in a winter wonderland.
I had the most amazing drive to John's work today. We had a BIG dump of snow and all the trees were laden down. It was Christmas card perfect. All that was missing was the little white church with the lights shining on it.
Papa John Thankyou. Really applies to the poor wee mite, I keep applying the ointment.
Got to run Love to all

I love it...."I have come to the palace from the pit"..
I told you you are a princess. Isn't it wonderful to be a child of the King?
Chris Brother Yun who started the House Churches in China began in such a small way as you and how mightily the Lord used him.
Marilyn. Glad you were enabled to have fellowship today dear. Take it steady tomorrow. God is in control All will be well.

Hello9 from Roatan, Honduras! I am the only female guest in this resort *tonight, anyway* and all the guys are gathered around a little bitty TV watching football!! So I thought I would splurge a bit and post in NEM!! It costs 25c per minute to use the computer, and they have a really strange mouse I never saw before; not making my job any quicker or easier!!
Anyway, I miss all of you! And was thinkinbg of you today while swimming with the fishies! I saw a huge grouper, some really big parrot fishes, big puffer, and of course scads of smaller fishes. Also saw two lobsters, a nudibranch, two flamingo tongue snails and lots of other neat stuff. And this is only day one! The first dive was really bad, for some reason we had to fight the current both away from the boat and coming back. I was exhausted.....but I wasn't the only one who was, so it isn't my age! ;D[
I better get this posted and get offline. If I don't stay too long at a time, maybe I can come back again while we are here. Flights went just fine; it was sleeting, snowing and raining in Amarillo when we left, sure made it nice to come here to 83 degree weather and warm water! *Sorry, Pat, |I couldn't resist!* This is a funny keyboard, too..... ???
Lots of love to you all!

Anyway, just keep on discussing, folks!
Do any of you remember last summer me telling you of a friend with MS and she was dying? She was in a wheelchair and just held on? Well I received word today that Joanne has passed away. We can rejoice that the battle is finally over and she is fully healled. This is sad for her young son, please keep him in your prayers as he moves through the rest of the grieving process.
