Morning Devotional...

Boast not thyself of tomorrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.
Proverbs 27:1

It was thirty-four years ago today that sixty-six soccer fans died when a staircase collapsed during a Rangers-Celtic game in Glasgow, Scotland.

One survivor described the terror: "Everyone was struggling to get out...after ten or fifteen minutes I was dragged out by a policeman."

The year ahead may be your last.

Should you die without Christ, yours will be an eternity struggling to escape the pains of hell but with no one to come and rescue you.

Don't take this moment for granted. Seek the Lord while He may be found, call upon Him while He is near. (Isa 55:6).
Brian Cretney

Tonight may be your latest breath,
Thy little moment here be done;
Eternal woe; the second death,
Awaits the grace-rejecting one.

A hymn we used to sing quite a lot over in Ireland was the following:

Life At Best Is Very Brief
Psalm 144:4

Author:  Author Unknown, 19th Century
Musician:  William J. Kirkpatrick, 1838-1921

Life at best is very brief,
Like the falling of a leaf,
Like the binding of a sheaf:
Be in time.
Fleeting days are telling fast
That the die will soon be cast,
And the fatal line be passed:
Be in time.

Refrain:
Be in time, be in time;
While the voice of Jesus calls you,
Be in time.
If in sin you longer wait,
You may find no open gate,
And your cry be just too late:
Be in time.

Fairest flowers soon decay,
Youth and beauty pass away;
O you have not long to stay:
Be in time.
While God's Spirit bids you come,
Sinner, do no longer roam,
Lest you seal your hopeless doom:
Be in time.

Sinner, heed the warning voice,
Make the Lord your final choice;
Then all heaven will rejoice:
Be in time.
Come from darkness into light;
Come, let Jesus make you right;
Come, and start for heaven tonight:
Be in time.

Good Morning, Pat!  Thanks for the devotional thoughts today.  How true it is that we never know when our time here on earth will be over.  Yes, "Life At Best Is Very Brief!"

Still receiving the "wintry mix" here on the Oregon coast.  Hail, rain, and possibly more snow overnight.  My fire is keeping me warm at the moment.  I just hope I have enough wood in to keep it going through the night.   :-\

I will be around, from time to time, and check in with y'all later.  Have a wonderful day with the Lord.
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Personal Life: Meditate Long and Often

I remember the days of old; I meditate on all Your works; I muse on
the work of Your hands, I spread out my hands to You; my soul longs
for You like a thirsty land.
--Psalm 143:5-6

Among Christians of all ages and of varying shades of doctrinal
emphasis there has been fairly full agreement on one thing: They
all believed that it was important that the Christian with serious
spiritual aspirations should learn to meditate long and often on
God.

Let a Christian insist upon rising above the poor average of
current religious experience and he will soon come up against the
need to know God Himself as the ultimate goal of all Christian
doctrine. Let him seek to explore the sacred wonders of the Triune
Godhead and he will discover that sustained and intelligently
directed meditation on the Person of God is imperative. To know
God well he must think on Him unceasingly. Nothing that man has
discovered about himself or God has revealed any short cut to pure
spirituality. It is still free, but tremendously costly.  That
Incredible Christian, 135.

"Slow me down, Lord, and quiet my heart this morning. Favor me
with an acute awareness of Your presence as I meditate quietly for
the next several minutes. I want to know You, God, so I can indeed
move well beyond that 'poor average of current religious
experience.' Amen."

Good morning.  I am all ready to go out and get the car and head to church.  My car hasn't been out of the garage since last Monday when we were having heavy rain.  I did go outside yesterday and shoveled where the car tires would go on my driveway...200ft times two.  Also when I went outside, a yellow cat was in my basement window well.  He looked battered but came up on the deck and was rubbing my legs.  I couldn't get much snow off the deck with him doing that so I carefully opened the door and got the cat some food.  He was a hungry guy.  Wanted in but I knew not to do that...matted eyes and ear mites.  Jerry later went out to the mailbox and he said he didn't see the car.  I must have the word CAT above my house!!!

Everyone have a wonderful day in God's house today.

I also must have that invisible "cats welcome here" sign.  :) Right now there are three of them living with me. And two dogs. And my son.

So we have plenty of activity and lots of animals to love and be loved by them.

I'm dressed early for church, so had a moment to stop in before leaving.

I rested much of yesterday afternoon, so am feeling a bit better today. Also, the sun is supposed to shine for the first in a number of days, which also should lift our spirits here in Nashville.

Y'all have a good day in the Lord.

Good Morning, Thanks to Pat and Chris for the devotionals this morning.

I have posted re: Victor Oliver in Prayers and Praise, please continue to pray for him and his family.

I too am ready for church early. I was here earlier to read and post in some of the other forums. Today is the last day for Pastor Dwayn to preach here in McKinleyville. God has called him to preach in Loomis, Ca. down by Sacramento. Next week will be Pastor Danny. Please continue to pray for Abundant Life Center.

Thank you Chris for sending me the info on the Tsunami this morning I have sent it on to several others of my friends. Also very interesting reading in the above link you provided.

We are home from church, and the good news is---Pastor Tim has accepted the call to come to Ulysses!  We will know by next week when they will be here, but are all so happy to know we do have a pastor.  Praise God!

Chris, the tract you gave the link to is a very clear explanation of some of the differences between Christianity and Islam.  If I ever plan to go to any Muslim areas, I will order some of the tracts to take with me.  Thanks.

I had a strange night.  I hadn't slept well for a couple of nights, so by 9, I couldn't keep my eyes open.  Went to bed, fell asleep, slept fitfully for about two hours, then was wide awake.  At 3:00, I got up and took a warm shower, thinking maybe that would relax me enough to sleep.  I did doze some, but sure am feeling the lack of sleep today.

See all of you later.

Tsunami Warning
By Paul deParrie
The Covenant News ~ January 06, 2005

Upwards of 150,000 people were killed in the recent earthquake-induced tsunami in the Indian Ocean. Video camera technology made the awful sight of people being swept away like so many pieces of straw available for the whole world to see. In the early stages of reporting, a number of people bemoaned that fact that there was no warning system in place. Many of those lives could have been saved, they said.

Here in Oregon, for instance, many coastal towns have marked tsunami evacuation routes for leading people to higher ground. In addition, there are warning sirens installed.

In reality, however, there are already warnings in place: 'natural warnings'. Simple knowledge that tsunamis do appear would lead the wise not to build in low-lying coastal areas, or to build on sandy soil. Peoples who have lived many generations in such areas know this. They also know that when the sea retreats from the normal shoreline, that it is time to run for the hills. Many such people also note the sudden agitation in the animal life and take warning.

Yes, it would be nice to have sophisticated sirens, evacuation routes, and satellite warnings, but that does not mean that there were no warnings.

More developed peoples acknowledge these general warnings by setting up such systems. In addition, they have building codes in places were tsunamis (or hurricanes) are more likely. Such measures are preventative. In those resort locations in Southeast Asia where large, multi-story hotels were built to high standards, lives were saved by simply moving to the 'high ground' of one of the upper stories.

'Okay, deParrie,'  you are saying, 'All this is very interesting, but what's your real point?' If you are saying that, then you have caught me 'again'  trying to use real life in the physical to illuminate real life in the spiritual.

As I watched those gut-wrenching videos of men, women, and children being swallowed by walls of water, I couldn't help but think about the 'Flood': the Flood in Noah's time. As horrifying as what those videos of the tsunami showed, it was a mere fraction of the Flood. No heading for high ground, building high on strong foundations, escape routes, or warning sirens would have helped anyone escape the Flood in the end.

Well, that is not entirely true. Noah was a 'preacher of righteousness'. (2 Peter 2: 5) He preached to the people, warning them for decades. His ark-under-construction stood as an ensign and a sign pointing to the evacuation route.

As I looked at the map of the affected area of this tsunami, it was clear to me that there were two characteristics of the worst-hit locations: 1) they were areas where there is severe persecution against Christians by fanatical Moslems (mostly) and fanatical Hindus and Buddhists, and 2) there were many luxury, sex-tourist resort areas included. Phuket (where many of the media talking heads wound up) is supposed to be the child-sex industry capitol in Southeast Asia.

It may not be a popular saying, but this was definitely a judgment from God Almighty. (This is not to say that Christian charity does not utterly demand that we assist them.)

However, such judgments are not new. Jesus was asked about just such things.

Luke 13:1-5

1 There were present at that season some that told him of the Galileans, whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices.

2 And Jesus answering said unto them, Suppose ye that these Galileans were sinners above all the Galileans, because they suffered such things?

3 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

4 Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem?

5 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

'Maybe these people were great sinners', Jesus points out, 'but so are you. Do you think you are better than they? Will you not suffer the same if you do not repent?'

Jesus took the physical deaths of these people and used it to amplify the warning of the spiritual deaths hovering over those to whom He spoke.

In like fashion, I think the tsunami in Southeast Asia should be considered as a warning by those of us here in the U.S. Paul once warned the Gentile believers not to get smug about the judgment brought upon Jewish unbelievers because of their lack of faith. He said, 'Be not highminded, but fear.' (Romans 11: 20) A similar admonition is directed to us.

I pointed out that there were a number of sex-tourist hot spots in the affected lands. Consider, though, that these luxury resorts were not designed for the native populations. They were geared mostly toward American and European clientele. All the outpourings of generosity now will never erase the destruction that preceded the tsunami with the inundation of the world with the smut produced in Northridge, California; Hollywood; and New York, all of which paved the way for the sex-slave industry over there. None of our Mercy Corps, Red Crosses, and Northwest Medical Teams will ever heal the wounds brought on by our porn culture and made it acceptable for poor families to sell their children into prostitution and abuse at the hands of a largely white-Western customer base.

Backing up to the persecution, I ask the questions: Is it possible that the U.S. tsunami of smut was, at least in part, responsible for the fanaticism that fueled the persecution? Did the Western 'value' of 'freedom', expressed as sexual libertinism, divorce, and abortion, that permeate even the 'help' we offer the less-developed nations feed the disease of terrorism in these places?

There is a tsunami coming. This is the warning. emphases are mine.

Jesus said, 'And in the morning, It will be foul weather today: for the sky is red and lowring. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?' (Matthew 16: 3)

There are several preparations you can make. You can start by constructing buildings up to code for such disasters.

Matthew 7: 24-25

24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:

25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.

That is part of the warning to those who say they are God's people. The rest of the warning is, once having made these preparations for yourselves, that you then become part of the warning system yourself.

The job is always open. God continually reaches out to a lost world warning them of the disaster to come in their individual lives as well as to the whole world. It is the believer?s job to warn them of the coming tsunami of God's judgment.

Ezekiel 3: 17-18

17 Son of man, I have made thee a watchman unto the house of Israel: therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me.

18 When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand.

It is a double-edged sword. Either be a tsunami warning, or suffer the fate of those you failed to warn. That is a warning also. Ask yourselves, 'When will the Church in America stand up and confront the evils we have allowed to take root in our nation?'  Now ask yourself individually, 'When will I begin to openly preach the truth and call people to repentance?'

We had a wonderful time at church this morning.  The pastor spoke on James 3 and the need for taming our tongue.  What a message.  It really spoke to my heart.

I thought that we could all benefit from reading just those few verses in here today...

James 3

The Untamable Tongue

The Tongue Cannot Be Tamed
1 My brethren, let not many of you become teachers, knowing that we shall receive a stricter judgment. 2For we all stumble in many things. If anyone does not stumble in word, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle the whole body. 3Indeed,[a] we put bits in horses' mouths that they may obey us, and we turn their whole body. 4Look also at ships: although they are so large and are driven by fierce winds, they are turned by a very small rudder wherever the pilot desires. 5Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things.

See how great a forest a little fire kindles! 6And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell. 7For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and creature of the sea, is tamed and has been tamed by mankind. 8But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. 9With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the similitude of God. 10Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so. 11Does a spring send forth fresh water and bitter from the same opening? 12Can a fig tree, my brethren, bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Thus no spring yields both salt water and fresh.

Heavenly Versus Demonic Wisdom
13Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by good conduct that his works are done in the meekness of wisdom. 14But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth. 15This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic. 16For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there. 17But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. 18Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.

Take Time to Be Holy
(Click to hear music)

Sanctify yourselves therefore, and be ye holy:
for I am the LORD your God.
Leviticus 20:7

Author:  William D. Longstaff, 1822-1894
Musician:  George C. Stebbins, 1846-1945

Take time to be holy,
Speak oft with thy Lord;
Abide in Him always,
And feed on His Word.
Make friends of God's children;
Help those who are weak;
Forgetting in nothing
His blessing to seek.

Take time to be holy,
The world rushes on;
Spend much time in secret
With Jesus alone;
By looking to Jesus,
Like Him thou shalt be;
Thy friends in thy conduct
His likeness shall see.

Take time to be holy,
Let Him be thy Guide,
And run not before Him,
Whatever betide;
In joy or in sorrow,
Still follow thy Lord,
And, looking to Jesus,
Still trust in His Word.

Take time to be holy,
Be calm in thy soul;
Each thought and each motive
Beneath His control;
Thus led by His Spirit
To fountains of love,
Thou soon shalt be fitted
For service above.

We sang this Don Potter song in church today. ;)

I Have A Light
(Don Potter)

I have a light
And it always shines
It shines in the day
It shines in the night

And when the dark days come
And the sun isn’t bright
I will be shining
For I have a light
(Repeat)

(Bridge:)
My light is the Lord
Jesus by name

My light is the Spirit
Who leads me to change

My light is the Father
Who gave up His own

My light is the hope
I’ll be with Him in a heavenly home

Kathy

Today's lesson from Oswald Chamber's "My Utmost for His Highest" has really spoken to me and I wanted to share it with all of you.   I guess that all this week our focus in devotionals and Sunday School lesson has been about 'Be Pure' not only in my physical self, but mainly in my spiritual self as I continue to grow daily in His Presence and today's lesson just jumped out at me.

May you all have a blessed day as we honor God the Father, the Son and Holy Spirit in each of our places of worship
.
Prayerful Inner-searching
“May your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless …” (1 Thessalonians 5:23).
Your whole spirit … .” The great, mysterious work of the Holy Spirit is in the deep recesses of our being which we cannot reach. Read Psalm 139. The psalmist impliesâ€"“O Lord, You are the God of the early mornings, the God of the late nights, the God of the mountain peaks, and the God of the sea. But, my God, my soul has horizons further away than those of early mornings, deeper darkness than the nights of earth, higher peaks than any mountain peaks, greater depths than any sea in nature. You who are the God of all these, be my God. I cannot reach to the heights or to the depths; there are motives I cannot discover, dreams I cannot realize. My God, search me.”
Do we believe that God can fortify and protect our thought processes far beyond where we can go? “… the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin” (1 John 1:7). If this verse means cleansing only on our conscious level, may God have mercy on us. The man who has been dulled by sin will say that he is not even conscious of it. But the cleansing from sin we experience will reach to the heights and depths of our spirit if we will “walk in the light as He is in the light” (1:7). The same Spirit that fed the life of Jesus Christ will feed the life of our spirit. It is only when we are protected by God with the miraculous sacredness of the Holy Spirit that our spirit, soul, and body can be preserved in pure uprightness until the coming of Jesusâ€"no longer condemned in God’s sight.
We should more frequently allow our minds to meditate on these great, massive truths of God.
Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth and the life.  No man cometh unto the Father but by me.  John 14:6

I never cease to be amazed that when I come here, I'm not only going to receive a blessing just from the messages you post here - I also have lots to do research about, lots to ponder about.

I believe God is using each person here at CP in His ministry to us, and through us, to countless others across the world.

Marilyn, I know where Loomis is.  I taught school at Loomis Christian School in the 70's.  A small town (or it was) not too unlike McVille.

Thanks, Pat, Chris, and Kathy ... I feel like I've been to church for sure now!
   :D
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Thanks for the nice devotionals and music.  Especially since I could not attend church and even the services on TV were re-runs this morning.   :-\    Of course that is not necessarily a bad thing!!

The snow has finally stopped after two straight days and we are now expecting rain at any hour.  That should make for even more serious accidents and this person plans to remain inside for a spell.  Did venture out the door to stand and take a few pictures.  Posted them using PhotoBucket on the chance that Janet may be able to view this set of photos.   ???

We have some places still without tsunami warnings on the island. I refuse to worry about these matters and leave my fate in God's capable care.  I see in the paper that many people are suffering from depression due to what is happening in the world and as a result of this latest disaster.  It must be difficult to live without an intelligence and strength that is greater than one's own!

I like the simplicity of one Devotional that I use daily:

QuoteAll the good things we have on earth come from our Father in heaven. It is his will that life is bearable for us. The burdens of this world should not be beyond our strength to carry. But this requires a certain gift, which only God can give: he, the father of light, will give us light to illumine all difficult situations. That is how he achieves what is good and perfect.

from Family Prayers for Each Day.

Then of course, to lighten the load, we have poetry.  This certainly applies to my life at the moment:

   THE WAY a CROW

  The way a crow
  Shook down on me
  The dust of snow
   From a Hemlock tree

   Has given my heart
   A change of mood
   And saved some part
   Of a day I had rued.

          -Robert Frost

Okay.  Pleasant day all.
God Bless,
Liz

CHANGE NOT THY FAITH WITH CHANGING TIMES

RogueSnapper

Thank you for that devotion! Thankfully as Christians death is an improvement.
Hrm. That could be taken in a number of ways. LOL! You know what I mean though, right? :)

In church this morning we had a guest speaker who is involved in a prison ministry. Neat stuff! Touched my heart, as I was involved in such a ministry before I moved here in December. It also gave me a renewed interest in seeking out such a place here. I'm still not sure what all is in place here already. Found it helps keep me humble to be involved...I would cook and serve food to newly released convicts in halfway houses. God really helped out on that one...I had known there was a child molester in the group and I had told one person to not tell me who it was and stated I'd NEVER be friendly to such a person. I didn't mind murderers or robbers. There was one guy there who was also very helpful and would come and try to help me in the kitchen. After a few weeks I found myself admiring his willingness to help, his attitude, etc., and asked what he was there for. He turned out to be the child molester I'd said I'd never speak to or work with. Turns out that after he was released he was in a severe motorcycle accident, and was partially brain damaged. Wouldn't harm a fly. Found myself repenting to God for my attitude, and acknowleding that in God's eyes we were both equal. Both sinners saved by grace. Tough lesson. Tough concept. Beautiful truth. God truly is gracious!

Yesterday we had snow, today we have none. My girls were laughing out loud, as was I, when we got the newspaper yesterday and the front page stated "Severe storm lashes area!" The pic was of a downtown street, with traffic being redirected and a fine layer of snow barely covering the trees.
In Ohio we called that a good day! In fact we had gone out and built tiny snowmen, bemoaning the fact that there wasn't enough for a real one. Then we went into town to the grocery store. I had no idea that this was supposed to be horrible driving weather, although I did wonder at the lack of traffic. Now I know, and will attempt to properly panic with the rest of the Oregonians when it snows. ;)

Hi everyone.  This was a very special day for us at our church as our new senior pastor was in the pulpit for the first time.  He gave a very fine sermon and following the service we had a very nice reception for him so he could meet those present.  We had the biggest attendance I had seen for sometime so know his arrival was greatly anticipated.

Unfortunately I had another episode with my blood sugar when we stood to sing following the sermon.  Managed to get through the rest of the service without causing a scene but was glad to get to where I could sit down for awhile.  These spells cause me to sweat heavily and it affects my energy level.  After about 20 minutes I was feeling better and we continued on to the reception.  I came home and slept for a couple of hours but seem to still be tired.

Tbear, thanks for the special goodies with my name on it.  That was very nice and there were so many goodies we could share with everyone, which was nice.   I do like you new photo and met to comment on it yesterday.

Janet, nice to read that your new minister had accepted your call to serve your church.  Also glad to read that Beth was feeling up to attend church this morning.  Hope you sleep better tonight.

Gina, I understand what you are talking about as we experienced the same things when we moved here from Missouri.  Folks just aren't use to driving when there is any snow.

Etta Sue, it sounds like you will soon have another cat living at your house.  The word must be out.  :)

It is good to read everyone's postings.  Hope everyone has a good evening or day, depending on where in the world you may be when you read this posting.

GINA ... I must admit to you that I do not have GREMLINS in my household !!  Sorry to say that my kids that are living at home are a 16 year old daughter & a 20 year old boy so ... then there is my husband & myself !! But then we have 3 cats too and so they eat there share of CAT FOOD !!

LARRY ... Thank you so much for the compliments about the NEW PICTURE. Pat had sent me a PM about it & I had to change it ( the size that is ) so I changed the picture all together. But, it's still me.  Glad to hear that you enjoy your goodies from last night too. I thought that you & Iain would enjoy something special !!

Well, better get my dinner ate so take care all !!

Well, I stayed home from church this morning because ... well, just because.  :P  The streets are very icy and we are experiencing sudden and heavy downpours of rain and hail.  In between, however, there are times of clearing skies and even sunshine.

I went to sing with my friends at a local nursing home at noon today, taking my neighbor with me.  Afterwards, one friend said "We're going to run by your place for a minute"  <of course, Jane had to make a joke about that...wouldn't it be easier if you drove by?>  Anyway, two ladies came over and pulled up to my carport ... and proceeded to unload a car trunk full of WOOD!  I feel so blessed to have such friends.  I only had a few (like 3) pieces of the hardwood I was given earlier and the cedar burns so fast that I am going through it quickly.  God knows just what I need and when I need it!  He is soooo good to me!

ROGUESNAPPER:
QuoteYesterday we had snow, today we have none. My girls were laughing out loud, as was I, when we got the newspaper yesterday and the front page stated "Severe storm lashes area!" The pic was of a downtown street, with traffic being redirected and a fine layer of snow barely covering the trees.

The main thing about calling this "severe weather" is because of the high wind accompanied by rain or snow or hail.  When these fronts come in off the Pacific they can cause hazards that are not known inland.  Also, since there are so many hills and/or mountain roads, and they get icy, driving is dangerous as well.  I prefer to stay off the roads mainly because I don't trust the other drivers.  I don't wish to be hit by a car out of control if you know what I mean.

LARRY~Sorry you experienced such an episode again today.  I pray you will be feeling better real soon.

TBEAR~Great new photo!  <I liked the other one, too, though>
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Janet

Larry, sorry to hear about your episode in church today, but glad you made it okay.  But, please--if you need to sit down, then SIT DOWN!  I'm sure the choir will continue to sing and you won't disrupt the service.  They all love you, as do we.

Oh, dear!  It's already time to go back to church again!  How time does fly!

Karen, nice new photo.  I really need to put another one on, as this one was taken a year ago at Christmastime.  I haven't changed much, I don't think.

Chris, I read that about the tsunami......very good.  Thanks.  And thank you, Marilyn, for sending it to me, but I'm glad Chris posted it here for everyone to read, too.

Wow - somedays, it seems like I have been to church several times.....I just LOVE reading all your comments about the church services that you have attended.

Several of you are welcoming a new Pastor...or are about to...thats wonderful, and I rejoice along with you!  I do hope and pray that the man you have called, is the man that the Lord would have come.  I'm sure he is....as much prayer would have gone forth, before he has been called.

...am I making sence?  I hope you all know what I am trying to say.

Our pastor and his wife are vacationing in Cuba for a week.  This is a well deserved rest for them both.  We had a visiting pastor this morning.

Our theme this year at our church is:  "EACH ONE...REACH ONE"..... We have grown so much at our church, and have many new attendees.  Our pastor is anxious that they all hear the Good News of Jesus Christ, and that they all receive Christ as their Saviour.

TBEAR:  A lovely photo for sure.  From what I can tell...you and I have the same hair color! ;)

Sorry to hear of your "spell," hope that they do not occur too often.

I am beginning to understand why folks in their 70's and 80's are ready to depart for higher ground.  Aches, pains, backache, sore joints, headaches, sore throats, hurting knees, swollen feet...toothaches, joints locking up......and those are just todays ailments.......I've yet to turn 65.

I also think it may be God's way of preparing us for departure....you know...anxious to go.  Ha Ha

Pastor said today that when we pray, we ought to pray for our own hurts and needs as well as others. We are not to be prideful, not to think that we are above God's Grace.  I said that so's I could list my ailments of the day and ask you to lift me up in prayer.  Starting to get tired of not feeling well.  Been struggling for four months.....I know I know....some struggle for years...

I know from ya'll's posting's that I am in good company....So let's lift our voices together and praise the Lord.  There's a song in there somewhere. (What say Pat, you got that one?)
I am a nobody
Telling everybody
There is a somebody
That can save anybody

Larry, while there's a possibility some of the christmas candy is still in the stores, go lay in a big supply of the candy canes that are about 4 inches long and very slender.

These candies have no fat and contain almost the exact amount of glucose to bring you to stability if your blood sugar drops.

Each year I go by Wal-Mart and buy 8-10 boxes of the 12 canes per box, normally at 10 or 15 cents a box. They are well wrapped and do not grow stale. I have a few stashed in a desk drawer, some in the glove compartment of both vehicles, and some inside my home.

Sweating and shakiness comes on very suddenly, but can be stabilized by eating one of those candies. And, yes,, you will feel pretty bad for at least a couple of hours.

My heart goes out to you - I've been dealing with this nuisance for many years.

Do we remember the date that Skief's wife is to have her back surgery? I'm thinking it's early this week.

Y'all take care.

Pat, I'll pray especially for you tonight as I go to bed, and then will be remembering your loss and grief all day tomorrow. May our Comforter be with you and your family.

I'm hiding out at my computer hiding the fact that I'm laughing my head off, lest the girls hear me and quit what they're doing.

The two older ones have made the 7 yr. old the queen, the SAD queen to be exact. She's not allowed to laugh or smile and must only say sad things.
She ordered the oldest to get a harmonica and play her a sad tune. So she did, and the "queen" starts singing "oh where is my doooogggg, why does it have to be gone oh whhyyyyyy"

The middle child is trying to make her laugh by marching her doll like a soldier in front of her. So far the sad queen is winning out and not cracking a smile, but I can hear in her voice that she's having a tough time of it. :D
