Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Morning Devotional...

..Jesus only.                                       Matthew 17:8

One solitary Figure in all human history stands majestically alone.

As man He is alone in His deity, the only One who is "God...in flesh."

Alone in His birth, for no one else chose to enter this fallen world.

Alone in His life, for only He did "those things that please the Father."

And He is unique in death and resurrection for, as He said, "I lay it down of Myself that I might take it again."

--J. Boyd Nicholson

He who died to set me free,
He who lives and loveth me,
He who comes--whom I shall see,
Jesus only, only He--
He shall bear the glory.

WOW is right, AL ... Marilyn and crew are making very good time if they are already in Santa Rosa!   :o  I know she is excited as she nears her destination.  Thanks for keeping us posted on her progress.
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Papa John

GoodGood morning.  I am up a little early and slipped in here to say I hope you all have a good Lord's day.

I expect Marilyn is at her new home by now and I am waiting to hear from her or from Al to say everything is all right.

And, a good morning to you, Papa John! Stay safe as we have these thunderstorms today. Speaking of thunder...I'd better shut down the computer!

Y'all have a good day.

Wow!  It is early.  If anyone would have told me that I would be setting my alarm at 5:30am on a Sunday to go to church just 10 years ago, I would have said...No way!

This is my day to man the lights so it is an early church to get there for rehearsal and get familiar with the lights and buttons again.  I am so thankful that I can do this.  It seems there are only a few who will do this so I am thankful I can serve my God and my church in this way.

Marilyn sure is on her way.  She is probably resting right now or maybe just waking to get the truck unloaded.  I know God is good so I will say, Marilyn!, I am glad you are home!!

Now for another great week ahead.  I will get to meet Jane maybe Friday or Saturday.  Gosh, I forgot which night she had reservations.  Clue me in, Jane!

Jerry and I will be attending the picnic and then probably come back here so he can watch the NASCAR race.  Again, maybe mow if it isn't still too wet.  It is looking shaggy out there.

Hi everyone.  Just finished my Bible readings in Proverbs and I have been reading a chapter a day of the book called "The Purpose Driven Life" by Rick Warren.  It is set up in 40 chapters and he strongly suggests you read one chapter a day only.  I have read it through that way once and am reading it again in the same manner as a part of my daily devotional time.  I think it is an excellent book.  I liked it so much that we bought two copies so that Pat and I could each have our own to mark up and use.

I also am anxious to hear that Marilyn and her family have arrived safely at their destination.  Marilyn said she would probably be posting by the end of today.  However, know they must be tired from that long trip.

Papa John, I agree with you that there is nothing wrong in using new and innovative ways of worship using tools that were not available earlier such as electronics.

Pat, so much wisdom in so few words in the Morning Devotional.

Pat, sure hope you are responding to the anitbiotic and are feeling much better today.

Etta Sue and Jerry, it sounds like you will have a nice time of fellowship after the church services today at the picnic.  Hope it isn't too hot.

Ruth Ann, you must be getting the thunderstorms we had during the night.  Our chance of rain is only 40% today so we are hoping we are in the other 60%.  :D

Jeanne, I sure understand why you are saying about the "Left Behind" series of books.  I read the first 11 of them in probably 3-4 weeks time.  They are hard to put down.  I am now reading another series of Inspirational books by Lauraine Snelling called the "Red River of the North" series.  She is a fine writer.   Before I read the "Left Behind" series I really had never read Inspiration Fiction before and I am really enjoying it.  Most evenings I turn on some music, turn off the TV and read for 2 or 3 hours.

Good Morning Jane and all who stop by today.

Jenny

JENNY.  Here in sweltering Birmingham, leafy Warwickshire......Yes in England!
.........................................................................
Hello folks.  I am later getting to you this day as I had two of my grandsons staying.one is 6 months old...so as you will imagine I was busy.  Little William is teething and with the heat also he was uncomfortable during the night....also my little dog "Beautiful Sunday" woofed at  3a.m.  She didn't like being ousted from my room for the baby and put into the lounge to sleep....
Then the baby was unsettled. I stayed up until after 4a.m. following this and didn't really sleep at all....mind you it is so hot I doubt anyone slept much around here last night.
It really is such a glorious day and I am off to the garden to sit and read my Bible soon now that the children have been collected....
My motorised scooter is at the garage for repair so I couldn't get to the church today....Sorry Father but He will work it out....Amen!

My own word for today is:
"This is the day that the Lord has made.  Let us rejoice in it and be glad"..........."He causeth all things to work together for good to those who love Him and are called according to His purpose."

Best wishes to you Marilyn on the move...and may His angels "guard your going in and coming out from that place."

My love and every blessing to you all "brothers and sisters".....

That's it for now folks..

WELCOME TO JENNY AND SHINENLITE!!!  WE'RE SO GLAD YOU'VE JOINED US!
I'm sorry I'm late with those greetings, but I've been away for a few days.

Jenny - welcome in here among this bunch of strange people!  The thing that's strange is that we love one another in the Lord!  And we're glad to extend that to YOU also!

Just got a call from Marilyn - in McKinleyville!  They arrived about 11PM last night.  But they have a little problem - can't get the truck door open.  Something appears to be stuck behind it.  So I suggested they call U-Haul and ask them what to do about it - before blow-torching it!

Janet

A big, warm WELCOME TO JENNY!!  and greetings to the rest of you as well.  I have only a couple of minutes to do this before we leave for church.

Please pray that Beth finds her little dog, Sindee.  She has been missing since yesterday morning, and Beth is just about frantic!  To her, that dog takes the place of a child, and she really loves her.  Thanks.

Marilyn, when you get online, you will see that we have all been with you in thoughts and prayers as you made your journey to the North!  Blessings to you as you start this new chapter of your life.

I'd better get shut down here and get in the car! :) Bye!

Hi Jenny!  Glad you managed to get in here!  Sorry about your scotter though.  Will you have it back tomorrow?

I'm so glad that you've heard from Marilyn, Al!  Too bad about the truch though.  Maybe they should take it to a hill, face it downwards, slam on the brakes and see if that will move whatever is stuck at the back door!  LOL

Etta Sue ... We have reservations for both nights...Friday and Saturday!  The reunion is on Saturday but we'll stay that night before taking off on Sunday to return my sister to her home in Knoxville, TN.  I'll be calling you as soon as I get within earshot, okay?   ;)

It's sure neat to see that Marilyn arrived at her destination safe and sound ... well ...safely, anyway!   :P

Y'all have a great day and I'll be back later.

Welcome Aaron... have you been here before?  If not, I must be thinkng of another Aaron.

Jenny:  Hi to you too!  I know you have posted earlier, but I neglected to greet you.  I apologise for that.

What kind of scooter do you have?  I have one as well., I've had mine for over 10 years, but its almost like new.  Mostly I have used it when in hospital for rehabilitation (I have R.A.)., and use it up at the mall.  It sure save on walking; and I can really "zip" along!  Sometimes I take the dog for a walk... I ride...he walks., then when I see him getting tired, he willingly jumps up on my lap, and we head for home. ::)

Oh Janet.. :'(. I am so sorry to read that Beth lost her dog!  I can only imagine how upset she must be.  I'm praying that the little thing will be found, and found unharmed. :'(

What breed of dog is she? ???

Please please, keep us informed! :'(
"I am too blessed to be stressed".

Thank you all for the warm welcome.

Judy . . . I have not been here before, but I have been aware of this site for a little while. I found it due to Karmats post on DPC a while back.

God Bless  :),
Aaron

AARON!!  HOW NICE TO HAVE ANOTHER NEW MEMBER HERE IN CP! We hope you will feel comfortable to come and visit and tell us about yourself and your interests.

Good Job, Karma!  Keep inviting folks here!

We are back home, Beth still hasn't been able to find her little Dauchund, Sindee.  She is really upset; she's had her for around ten years, and loves her so much.  WE have searched every place we can think of, also looked up and down the road, even though Sindee never strayed from home.  We are thinking maybe someone saw her outside, stopped and "dognapped" her.  That is such a cruel thing to do!

Pat, your idea might work on the truck (for Marilyn) but might be a bit hard on her computer equipment, if it isn't well-cushioned and fastened down! :o

We've put up the next Bi-Weekly Photo Challenge.  So, start taking photos for it now!  It's all about "FENCES"!

Doggone!  I spent so much time this afternoon taking pictures of the river through the spaces in a chain link fence and now you tell me the new challenge is "fences"! :-\

We went to church this morning - I remembered about 6:00 a.m. I hadn't bought the juice for the coffee hour so we made a quick trip to the grocery store first.

Then hurried home to change into dungarees for a birthday party in the park.   It was our neighbor's 40th birthday and his wife gave him a surprise party.  What an imagination she has! :o  I'll post some pictures so you can see what I mean.

Hope we hear from Marilyn soon, and with the news that they got the truck open and she's all unpacked.

Just talked to marilyn.  They got the truck open.  The U-Haul guy came to the place and jerked it open, charged her $60, and left.  But at least they got all the stuff out of it and into the house.  It'll be a day or two before she can get on line, though, because she's got to get the phone hooked up (I talked to her on her cell phone), the water turned on, the electricity, etc. , etc.  But it's all coming together.  She's got her bed set up so she'll be able to sleep!  Praise the Lord - the light's at the end of the tunnel.

Etta Sue

AARON!!!
Jeanne ~ Glad you are enjoying the 'Left Behind' series.  We have several sets of them in our church library.  I looked in there his morning but there wasn't any of the 'Armaggedon'.  Probably all out.

Larry ~ You must have really been fascinated with the 'Left Behind' books.  They are page-turners, for sure.

Marilyn ~ Glad you are in McKinleyville.  Sure hope U-Haul tells you how to get the door opened!!  Edit:  I see while I was 'dressing' this post up, that you got the door opened!  Hallelujah!!!

Today was a great day at church.  We have a new Youth Minister, Danny Curry, that arrived here June 30th.  So today was 'The Bridge' but in the regular santuary.  All was done by the kids....high school and junior high.  They did the singing and playing of intruments.  The music was really heartfelt.  Danny Curry did the sermons.  He is a powerful pastor.  In fact, David, our Senior minister, said that Danny is HIS favorite minister!!!!  Danny has a great sense of humor....a must for the kids.  He said he didn't want any whiners.  He mentioned that he wanted the kids to think of others before thinking of themselves...therefore no whiners, saying..."I want this" or "I don't want to do that".  Then he said that David might like whiners, so go to him if you are a whiner!!!! ;D  He will be a great asset to our church.

Jerry did a great job with the tapes.  Normally we only do 12 audio tapes and some of them may be left over.  Today he copied 30 tapes!  So that tells you how powerful Danny's sermon was!!!

The picnic was great, too!  Over 500 people stayed for the picnic of hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, potato salad, baked beans and a drink.  Then you had to decide which desserts you wanted.  There were 6 long tables set up in the Gathering Place full of desserts!  Decisions, decisions.

What a wonderful day!!!

Denise

Hi Everyone,

Pat thanks for sending me your notes. I'm sorry I haven't been around. Our family has been very very busy with summer activities and the like. All is well and we continue to be busy.

Yesterday I submitted 7 photos to the fair which opens on Tuesday. Yesterday morning I drug the kids out of bed EARLYto go and shoot pictures of the ballon rally. That was a lot of fun and very beautiful. I've been having a ton of fun but, I'm beginning to think it's time to get a digital camera! Film cost are adding up ???

I'll have to see about getting some posted and catch up on all thats been going on at CP!

Denise

Aaron

Thanks for the welcome Jeanne, Mercychild and Etta Sue

Well let's see. I'm homeschooled and currently finishing up my junior year. My interest are mainly aviation, (I'm considering joining the Air Force upon graduation :-\) and, of course,  :) photography!!!

I've, thankfully, been raised in a Godly home, but didn't really accept Jesus until August of 2001. And recently I have really began reading my Bible regularly.

Sorry for being sparse .  . . that's just kindof me

mercychild

Aaron, I think it's cool that you're homeschooled.  Have you always been taught at home?  I was taught at home for the last three years of my schooling, and loved it.  I wouldn't go back to the public school system.  Ever heard of M.A.F?  Mission Aviation Fellowship?

Judy McKenna

Etta Sue:  What a nice morning, noon and afternoon you have had. :)

Sounds like your new Youth Pastor has a good sense of humour.  :P What he says about whining reminds me of what Karen (daughter) says when her 10 year old whines.  She says "want any cheese with that WHINE"...kid gets the drift., and changes his tune!..LOL :-*

Denise:  So nice seeing you post again.  Sometimes we just get "meeting" new CP"rs... get to know a little about their family; then they "vanish" :D...never to be heard from again.  I'm glad that isn't YOU, Denise. :D....please keep posting! ;D

This afternoon, Norm and I went for a short drive into the country...Mennonite country. :-*  I never tire of seeing the Mennonites with their horses and buggys.  It was pretty hot this afternoon, and there they are all dressed from head to toe in heavy black garb.  I don't know how they stand it. ::)

We saw some darling little children all dressed in black as well. :)

Someone we know went to a Mennonite wedding.  It was HOURS long; :( they sat on wooden benches with no backs. Just thinking and picturing this gives me a back ache. :-[

I'm looking forward to all you professional photographers taking fence pictures. :D

I can't wait to see your Jeanne., and see the special surprise party :-X your neighbour had. :-*....wish we had neighbours like that! :D

.........Judy :-*
