This expression of Jeremiah's suffering as he witnessed the destruction of Jerusalem also prophetically described the sufferings of our Lord Jesus.

Alone on Calvary's cross, He was rejected by men and as He bore our sins, He experienced affliction under the rod of God.

He suffered divine wrath, the awful outpouring of God's judgment for our sins, in our place.

Ruthie, your cat will qualify for the 'Colours' challenge.  Hope you took a picture before removing the paint.  Did you remove it..... :'(

I had a busy day.  Went shopping at the mall.  Then made dinner for the kids.  Next went to get plants and herbs to plant in my newly made garden that the kids have provided.  Then watched Sue Thomas, FBI with Wendy, after making popcorn for the three of us....Amanda wandered downstairs.  Now I think that it is time to get into my PJ's and call it a day!

Pleasant dreams all and God Bless.  Also Happy 4th of July to all our American friends.  Hope it is a fun filled day.

Pat, I hope I didn't miss it but I don't think you closed July 3rd NEM and directed us to July 4th. 

I am all ready for church.  It is raining.  It was storming in the night.  Lots of water all around.  I feel like I am a lake district.  Also loud noises woke me around midnight.  I got up to investigate and there were fireworks to the southeast.  It had to be at Verizon Music Center...an outdoor amphitheater that has music such as country, pop, rock and heavy metal performers.  It was a long fireworks ...about an hour.

Thank you for the Fouth of July greetings this morning.  I call upon all Christians to pray for their country today. Following the directions of 2Chron. 7:14

"If my people who are called by my name  will humble themselves and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and forgive their sins and heal their land"


My church has a huge poster on the front wall of the church with this scripture on it, the poster is in America's colours of Red, White and Blue, There are 2 flags hanging from the side walls and one on the platform. When we meet for prayer meeting at 4 pm every Sunday afternoon it is to pray for the nation, our state, county and town.


I urge everyone to unite TODAY and pray for our nations.

Must get ready for church now.

Good morning, friends,

Yes, we celebrate the USA's independence and OH how proud I am to be an American.

Yet, I love and respect others from other lands. You, too, are justly proud of your home country.

Isn't it wonderful that here on CP we can unite in brotherhood and christian love, disregarding politics, political boundaries, nationalities, etc.

As Paul says in his writings, "I thank God always for you with prayer and supplication." (that's my paraphrase) And, yes, I pray often for each of us as we go through our lives.

Trials, pain, sufferings, triumphs, joys, these all abound in our everyday lives and I'm thankful for this forum that we can celebrate and support each other.

Margit, I appreciated the poem this morning.

Our war of independence from the ravages of sin's dominion is OVER!!![/size]!  By His grace we can now live to His glory and our own eternal happiness!

I thank our God for my native land, the United States.  It is no longer a Christian nation, but there are many, many of His people in it.  I pray He'll revive His work in her in these evil times.  Oh may Jesus Christ be praised!

We have no services this morning.  At 4PM we'll have our regular services, then a barbeque, then gather outside to see the locally presented fireworks.  Our church is on the side of a hill, and the place where the fireworks are displayed is just down the hill in plain view.  The kids love it!

Marylin you are right... I have seen prayer bring back a country from the brink of civil war.  Our hearts must be set on the will of God and not on our own agendas.  God must be filled with grief when He sees our wicked ways being deemed as acceptable and right in our modern world.  I whisper against a gale, but we must "never underestimate the power of prayer", it can change the world.

INDEPENDENCE
DAY!!!

I praise God for the privilege of having been born in the United States of America!!

We had an awesome service this morning, with patriotic songs from the children and the choir, a "human video" presented by the youth, and a very stirring and patriotic message from the pastor.  He also recognized those present who have served our country in the military.  He had them stand, then had each one give their name and where they served.  It was great!

This afternoon, we are having a picnic, games, etc. at the home of some of the members; then going to the backyard of other members whose home is very close to the Civic Center where the fireworks show will be.  Should be a good place to watch them.

Darrel and I went to a movie yesterday afternoon with the kids.  Sure seemed strange to come out of a movie and have the sun still shining!  I love the books of Nicholas Sparks, and this movie was based on his "The Notebook."  Great story of a lifetime love.........but why do they have to have sex scenes in even the best movies.  Very upsetting, and not necessary at all to the story.

Hi everyone.  Just another quick check-in as we are busy here in Denver.  I don't think I even made it here yesterday as we had a full day of visiting and then Pat and went to Colorado Springs and toured "The Garden of theGods" and it was well worth the trip. 

This morning we visited with my one remaining aunt at her place in a retirement community in Wheat Ridge, Colorado.  In a little while we are going to go to Canon City and take a dinner train up the Royal Gorge.  It is a 2 1/2 hour trip thru the Royal Gorg e with dinner served on the train.  This is our wedding anniversary treat to each other as it is a bit pricey.  This is the last year they are going to be doing this according to the recording.

I am going to have a lot of reading to do when I get home as am a couple of days behind in reading here and on SeniorNet.

Hello all!  We had a good service this morning at church.  I played the National Anthem on trumpet, then the choir sang arrangements of "Battle Hymn of the Republic" and "America, the Beautiful."  Then Bernard sang "Statue of Liberty."  I don't know if any of you have heard it or not, it is a cool song.  The first verse talks about how the Statue of Liberty is a symbol of freedom for all who see it, and the chorus talks about being proud to be an American.  Then, the second verse talks about the "statue" at Golgotha with the Savior stretched toward the sky.  The cross is my statue of liberty.  Through Christ we are free, etc.  Then the chorus talks about being glad to be a Christian, and the freedom we get from Christ.

Afterwards, we went to my mom's for hot dogs, then tonight, we will watch fireworks from my sister's store which is right across the street from where they will be shooting them off.  Hopefully, the rain will hold off and I can get some good pictures!!!

Then, tomorrow, we are off to the lake for the day.  My older sister and her family, and my brother and his family will both be there, so it should be a trip adn a half (7 kids, the oldest is 16).

American Independence Day.


Have you ever wondered what happened to the 56 men who signed the Declaration of Independence?

- Five signers were captured by the British as traitors, and tortured before they died.

- Twelve had their homes ransacked and burned.

- Two lost their sons serving in the Revolutionary Army; another had two sons captured.

- Nine of the 56 fought and died from wounds or hardships of the Revolutionary War.

- They signed and they pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor. What kind of men were they?

- Twenty-four were lawyers and jurists. Eleven were merchants, nine were farmers and large plantation owners; men of means, well educated, but they signed the Declaration of Independence knowing full well that the penalty would be death if they were captured.

- Carter Braxton of Virginia, a wealthy planter and trader, saw his Ships swept from the seas by the British Navy. He sold his home and properties to pay his debts, and died in rags. Thomas McKeam was so hounded by the British that he was forced to move his family almost constantly. He served in the Congress without pay, and his family was kept in hiding. His possessions were taken from him, and poverty was his reward.

- Vandals or soldiers looted the properties of Dillery, Hall, Clymer, Walton, Gwinnett, Heyward, Ruttledge, and Middleton.

- At the battle of Yorktown, Thomas Nelson, Jr., noted that the British General Cornwallis had taken over the Nelson home for his headquarters. He quietly urged General George Washington to open fire. The home was destroyed, and Nelson died bankrupt. Francis Lewis had his home and properties destroyed. The enemy jailed his wife, and she died within a few months.

- John Hart was driven from his wife's bedside as she was dying. Their 13 children fled for their lives. His fields and his gristmill were laid to waste. For more than a year he lived in forests and caves, returning home to find his wife dead and his children vanished.

Most of us take these liberties so much for granted, but we shouldn't. So, take a few minutes while enjoying your 4th of July holiday and silently thank these patriots. It's not much to ask for the price they paid.

Remember: freedom is never free!

It is good to see each one today.  For the Americans here, Happy 4th of July.  We are fortunate to live in a great country of freedom and opportunities.  But we must always remember that our true citizenship is in Heaven and we are fellow citizens with all our brothers and sisters in Christ.

Well, it has been a very nice 4th of July here. This morning we went to church and we were honored for celebrating our 55 years of marriage. The minister presented Cornelia with a dozen beautiful roses.

We went to Rachel's house for dinner today. All three of our daughters were there and some of the grandchildren. We had some great barbeque along with other goodies and also homemade ice-cream.

Tonight, at 8:00 we are meeting on the lawn at the church for a devotional under the stars.  Afterwards we will have a  big fireworks display.  One of our members is a professional fireworks person and runs a company who does professional fireworks and he is doing it and has donated all the fireworks.

After church My friend Willa and her husband Orville took me to lunch at the Hometown Buffet in the Mall.  Since then I have been relaxing here at home watching TV.

I was going to take Gloria to church with me this morning, but when I went to pick her up she was waiting for her Doctor to come to change the dressing on her foot, he was supposed to come yesterday and didn't.

Nothing else new here.

We're home from the church picnic, it was really nice.  The people who hosted it have a nice place out near the river, quite a distance from even another farm place.  They had two big fish ponds which fascinated the kids, and we all felt sure one of them would fall in, but they never did!  They thought they could catch the fish---of course, the fish were much too quick for them.

How nice, that Cornelia was presented with roses for your 55th anniversary, Papa John.  And that you had a nice afternoon with your family.

I'm tired, and want to go to the fireworks yet tonight, so I feel a little nap coming on, I think.  ;)

Hi Everyone, I just got in from church.   Pastor Charles Price was talking about eternal security.   He is amazing.   You can buy a CD of the message for $5.00.    There was a line up of 40 people waiting for their CD.

Liz, I didn't take a picture of my cat Jolson, but something has happened to him and I don't know what.  His back foot is swollen and he is licking it.  It I try to touch it he hisses at me.  The paint is still on it.  I can't make out what happened.  I think on Saturday I will drive to Beaton, a little town about 45 min. away and take Jolson to have a check over and get his booster shot and have the vet cut out all the fur mats.  Poor boy!  I go to Beaton because the vet is 1/2 the price of Toronto.

Well we have had an afternoon and evening of rain, rain, rain.  This is a blessing for the farmers.  My garden is doing well.

The rain reminds me of the verse, "The rain falls on the just as well as the unjust".  Anybody have a reference?

Our church has a Spanish mission church that also meets in our building.  Today our main service was at 4PM, and it was in combination with the Spanish church.  Our pastor read the Scripture in English, then their pastor read it in Spanish.  Our pastor then spoke a few words, then the other pastor translated, then our pastor, then translation.  So went the entire message about "freedom" - the Christian's true liberty in Christ - liberty from condemnation, liberty from bondage to sin, liberty to actually please Christ.
We then had a BBQ with the other church, and everyone ate too much.  They're still there, but we came home.  They'll be there until the fireworks displays in a couple of hours.
