Morning Devotional...

When they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto Him, They have no wine...His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever He saith unto you, do it.
John 2:3, 5

As at this spring wedding in Cana, it is a common plight of humanity that the wine runs out.

The world's joys are disappointing in the end. But the One who gave the best wine on that occasion is the same who offers us the cup of communion today.

Our sweetest joys flow from Calvary's winepress. Drink deeply of His joys today and let your heart overflow in love for the Joy-giver. No need to wait; God's word is "now."
                                                                          --J. B. N., Jr.

We prove earth's joys a worthless waste
which once we thought so fine,
And now the more appreciate
the taste of heaven's better wine.

A HAPPY FATHER'S DAY TO ALL OUR MENFOLKS
This is the Lord's Day!  I pray that all will rejoice and be glad.  It will be a day of praise and thanksgiving for our many blessing, for our fathers who have gone on to be with the LORD, for our fathers here and for our fathers-to-be.
My father passed away 30 yrs ago when I was 33.  He was always there for me and he got to enjoy his grandchildren.  Many memories come to mind. I know others are also thinking about their dads...some good memories and some sad memories.
Well, off to bed for me..
Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth and the life.  No man cometh unto the Father but by me.  John 14:6

Janice

Hello, everyone.
I am late again....so what else is new! :-)
It looks like all of you had a busy day, and lots of activities.  It was a busy one here too.

Fathers Day!  What sweet memories of my dad.  He was a deacon in our little Baptist church there in Arkansas, and I remember the Sunday afternoon he was ordained.  I had never seen the "Laying on of hands" before and this little girl was impressed by the solemnity of it all.  What a wonderful dad he was to all of us seven kids.

Marilyn, I hope there was no confrontation for you with the landlord.  They seem to think they can just do as they please there at your house, that is so unreal.  How can you bear it?  You must have the patience of Job.  I will be so glad when you can get moved and leave all that nonsense behind.

I look forward to the worship sevice at church today.  Isn't it great to feel so close to your church family, and you hunger for that fellowship and the good preaching etc.  The Lord is so good!  More blessings daily.

Mieka, are you there?  I missed you!

Jeanne Lee, I hope you had a wonderful birthday.  Sorry to be greeting you this late, but as my dear auntie told me one time, that just makes it last longer!

I really must get to bed, it is so late.
G'Night!    Janice
This is the day the Lord has made, we will rejoice and be glad in it.   Ps 118:24

Hi Ms Janice, It is kind of you. I did not see you here, I was reading everything.

Eeew  >:( I have found a bug in my drink right now and I almost ate him. How gross.  :(

Ms Jeanne Lee, Everyone was so kind to wish for you a happy birthday yesterday. I was not here so I want to wish that all the days that are not your birthday are happy ones too. I hope it is ok.  ;D
-----------------------------------------

My heart is sad today. It is a wonderful sadness of things I do not undarstand. I love to hear the stories of everyone with their fathers. I love to see the pictures that you all share with me and know of the love you have in your hearts for this man, your father.

I did not ever know my mother or my father. These days are sometimes hard for me. Some say you can not miss that which you have never had. It is not true.  :'(

Pap is the one I call my father today. We all had three wonderful weeks together like a family. I ask Pap if he will be home with us for this father day. (he can not) It was our wish to honor him as a father for all he has done for each of us in this life. I told him he is my only father.

He said meeks, I love you more than life, but you DO have a father. He told me I have always have a father who loves me very much. He told me I should learn everything about him and share my father every day with as many as I can to honor Him.

I have this from my Pap I will like to share with everyone because it is his wish this father day to share with you My Father in Heaven.

I love you all, I am glad to be home today. It is a day of prayer for me this day to thank God for my family, and for all of you, my friends.

I gave up everything I loved that I might gain your love...Romans 8:31-32

If you receive the gift of my son Jesus, you receive me...1 John 2:23

And nothing will ever separate you from my love again...Romans 8:38-39

Come home and I'll throw the biggest party heaven has ever seen...Luke 15:7

I have always been Father, and will always be Father...Ephesians 3:14-15

My question is...Will you be my child?...John 1:12-13

Etta Sue

What a wonderful morning to come in here and read the posts since I posted last.  Jeanne, I love your kind of days....taking a nap.  Does that make me lazy?

Janice, I am so happy that you and Earl are going to church this morning.  Just a few weeks ago, that didn't seem possible.  Thank God for healing.

Mieka, you just don't know how good it is to read a post with a Chinese accent... ;)  Your words of wisdom are great and your way with English words are unbelievable.  Thanks for the new profile photo.  Each of your photos looks like a different person.  Are you sure they are all of you?  ??? ??? ;) I can't imagine what it would be like to not know my parents.  I can't sympathize with you.  BUT I know lots of parents that would love to have you as a daughter!  Me, for one!  You are sunshine!

Pat, thanks for the devotional.  My church has communion every Sunday...I really like that.  It is a time to reflect on the past, present and future with Christ in our lives and asking forgiveness of our sins and thanking Him for a new week  And sharing the bread and the cup with brothers and sisters makes it all the more special.

Today we are having just the men to sing our special music.  I love those bass, baritone and tenor voices.  Also we are having a skit.  And Jerry and I are manning the lights and sound.  So it will be a great day serving God in our special way.

I pray that everyone has an eventful Father's Day and Lord's Day.

Larry Hanna

Hi to everyone on this Sunday morning.  Pat and I are planning on going to church and hopefully out to eat with friends, unless they all have other plans.  I had one of my exhausted days yesterday and it sort of brought me back to reality from the first treatment I had where I felt good.  I will just have to be more patient and not be discouraged.

Mieka, that was a beautiful Father's Day presentation that you provided in that link.  It brought many related scriptures together and tells a wonderful story of God's love for us as a Father.

This is the second year without my earthly father.  I do miss him but rejoice that he is with the Lord and that I will see him one of these days in Heaven.

Etta Sue, hope you and Jerry have a great day at your church service.  We had communion last Sunday, rather than the 1st Sunday of the month as usual, because that Sunday was youth Sunday.  We have communion once a month and a few other times during the church year.

Janice and Kathy, glad to see you both posting.

Marilyn, hope the meeting with your landlords went well and that you are not too upset.  Just a few more days.

I had a message from our granddaughter that she is expecting our second great grandchild.  They are struggling to make ends meet now but they are optimistic.

My wife's cousin, Bruce, should be in surgery at this time having the brain tumor removed.  We are very concerned about him.

Ruth Ann Bice

How wonderful to see my friends gathering today. Mieka - welcome home. You're our beloved and we've missed you. Yes, I like the new photo also.

Communion, for me, Etta Sue, certainly is a time of soul searching, reflection on the love of God and the sacrifice of Jesus His Son for me. How precious to be a child of His!

Today's Mark's very first day to celebrate Fathers Day as a prospective father. Kassie is always with her dad on that day, so this will be special time for Mark and Pam.

I remember the first time I was pregnant, my husband literally beamed on Fathers Day - and he wore a boutonniere from me to celebrate his new soon-to-be father status.

Y'all have a good day.

Ruth Ann

Al Moak

I am sad, Mieka, that you cannot have memories of father or mother.  But I assure you that I would be proud and happy indeed if you were my daughter!  You are a breath of fresh air, scented with the flowers of heaven!  May God fill you with happiness - the happiness of relating to God the Father through Jesus Christ.  Today!

Pat

Well, how nice to read the posts that have been put in here so far...except your news, Larry, about Bruce.  That is so sad.  Good news though about your expected new great Grandchild.

Mieka, now there's an offer!  You'd sure have a wonderful father in Al Moak!  It sounds as if you have a fantastic male in your life now too that you call Pap.  I love to read your posts.  Nice new photo too.  That link you put in sure has a lovely Father's Day message on there.  It's good to know that even if our earthly father is no longer with us that we DO have a Heavenly Father as believers and He's with us constantly.

Kathy, my father was a special man as well and it's on days like today that I really miss him.  Father's Day was special to both of us when he was alive.  And I miss Jack too.

Janice, how's Earl?  Lovely Father's Day memories from you as well.  I think I'd like to hear you speak.  Don't the folks from Arkansas have a lovely southern drawl?

We have breaking of bread or communion every Sunday as well, Ruth Ann.  I won't be going today though as "Uncle Arther-itis" has set in with a vengeance this morning and my clutch foot is so painful when I depress the clutch so I will stay home this morning.

Good Morning, Etta Sue...  I pray you'll have a wonderful service this morning.  I always feel so badly if I can't attend the worship service.

Since I have no earthly father or no memorie of my earthly father to share I will say HAPPY FATHER'S DAY to my HEAVENLY FATHER. Dearest Father in Heaven I pray that I will be all that you want me to be, I love you so much and thank you for  lifting me up from the miry clay and  delivering me from the wilderness of the world that I was in. That was my personal Egypt you brought me out of and I thank you with all my  heart. Thank you for sending Jesus to earth to lay down His life for me, for greater love hath no man than to lay down his life for His friends, I thank you for being my very best friend. Happy Father's Day Abba Father. Love Marilyn

Hi, Pat!

Mieka - enjoyed very much the website and sent it to several of my email buddies.

Larry, you have a lot going on in your family too.  Hope Bruce comes through the surgery and on to a full recovery.  Congratulations on becoming a great grandfather again!

Sunny here today!  Enjoyed our church services this morning with the sermon about the Prodigal Son returning.  Our minister, Jimmy Miller, spoke of the new baby brought this morning and how his sermon 'put her to sleep'.  When the baby's mother responded that she wished the baby would sleep at night like that, Jimmy told the new mom to get a cassette tape of his sermon and play it at night for the baby!  We all had a good laugh.

Papa John

Marilyn, the SeniorNet is down for all of us right now.  I think that it will be back on before long.

Mieka, you have a good offer from Brother Al, but I'll make another.  I would also be happy to be your father.  I have three daughters, four granddaughters, and two grandsons.  So I am well practiced in this father business

We had a wonderful service this morning.  We have 55 young people and adults  who are leaving tomorrow for a mission work in Honduras.  We had all fifty-five come forward and we prayed for them.

Tonight after worship we meet for dinner with our small group.  We always look forward to that.

After church today we went out to a Chinese restaurant for lunch.  I had Hunan Lamb and it was delicious.

Right now I am going to look at the paper and take a nap.

A quick hello to everyone.  I want to tell you a quick story about what happened to my little/younger sister today.  It made us all  :'( but it was so sweet.

My little sister works in a convienence store/NASCAR store (it is two separate stores next door to each other and run by the same people).  She agreed to work today so the others could either be off with their fathers, or because they are fathers.

Around 1, a little girl about 7 came in with her father.  She looked up and said, "Do you have any wuums?"  Kasey chuckled and said, "No, honey, we don't sell worms. Why do you need some?"  She said, "Because I'm going fishing with my daddy for Father's Day."  Then, she looked at Kasey and said, "Why aren't you with your daddy?"

Kasey said, "Because he is with Jesus now."  The little girl looked up at her daddy and said, "If you can't be with me on Father's Day, I  hope you are in Heaven with Jesus."  Then, the little girl ran around behind the counter and gave Kasey a big hug.  Kasey asked what it was for, and the little girl said, "When my daddy got up this morning, the first thing he did was give me a hug.  Since your daddy can't hug you, I wanted to give you one."

Kasey is probably still crying, cause she is the "emotional" one of the family.

Aren't kids the greatest!

Ruth Ann Bice

Wonderful story. Kids have such warm hearts. It's a real blessing because they're also so spontaneous.

what a heart wrenching experience for your sister now I am  :'( :'(

Our message today was on James 1: 19-25 On Anger and Listening first.

19.} My dear brothers and sisters, always be willing to listen and slow to speak. Do not become angry easily, 10.} because anger will not help you live the right kind of life God wants.NCV

How many times we as humans,  are quick to speak and slow to listen letting anger be the first thing to come from our mouths.?

I think there is a message here for every one of us; as Christians have we failed to be righteous  examples to others of the ways of God.? How many of us  don't want to be thought of as "those crazy Jesus freaks?, and lose our tempers in front of the very ones we are to be setting an example for, our family, husbands, wives, or children?. What kind of an example are we setting for those we are trying to win for the Lord.

If any of this rings a bell with  anyone here, lets pray together for God to set a guard over our mouths and keep watch at the door of our lips., repent and be more like Jesus.

Ok that's my sermon for the day. :o

Karmat, what a touching experience your sister had.

Our son and daughter-in-law left a little while ago after spending a very pleasant couple of hours with us.  They brought over a beautiful bouqet of flowers and I will try to get a picture to share.  They also brought over their new little puppy and he is very cute and only a little over 2 months old.

We are still awaiting any word on how Pat's cousin Bruce came through the operation this morning.

Pat, sorry to hear you had that unpleasant visitor today and sure hope you are feeling better.

mercychild

What an adorable story.  Kids are wonderful.  What a joy.  Jen.

JudyB

This has been a rough day for me.  I woke up with a very sore right arm and sholder.  I don't know what the problem is but it has been swollen most of the day.

This is fathers day and I am sad.  I was never close to my father, we never seemed to click.  This has been a point of heartache for me for many years.  I do miss what "I wish had been." But you cannot live in the past. I must go on.

My darling John has been away this weekend.  He is heading down to Verginia  for a Monday morning delivery.  My girls have not taken his being away very well this year.

My friend Katie is going to Haiti in August for 8 days on a mission trip.  Wouldn't you know it her van broke down and she has to replace the rad.  Well she called this morning and asked me to take her to church.  That is always a joy, she is a quiet spirit and we always enjoy each others company.

We had a marvelous time of worship at church today.  Whe praise team was made up of children.  Hearing those young voices lifting their voices to the Almighty God was enough to bring more than one man to tears,  Our Pastor took a break in the first hymn and gave a history  lesson on the hymn "This Is My Fathers World" and told us that there are in fact 18 verses to that wonderful hymn.  The hystory of our favourite hymns is something to know especially when is tells the mental state of the composer.  The man who wrote This Is My Fathers World, looked at everything when he ran and said this is my Fathers world, he looked at his children and said this is my fathers world.  That is how he taught his children,

Our pastor was good with the message today encouraging men to be the leaders in their homes, and at their work so that everyone around them knows the stand that they take and where the boundaried are.  I can say that everyone knows where my darling husband stands, they may not like the stand but they know where it is.  Pastor Dennis didn't just direct the message to the men, he said as women we need to take a stand with those around us as well.

We have a very young youth pastor in training.  I was amazed when he took as his topis for last sunday morning Purity and how we have to live pure lives and that is a choice we make each day.  Pray for Andrew as he continues in this vein over the summer as the senior pastor takes holidays.

Well I must go for now,
Blessings to all
Happy Father's day to the men
Judy

Great to have all the posts on here today.  I sincerely hope that all the Fathers had a good day!  I miss my father and Jack a lot and so this was a quiet day for me as all the kids were with other fathers and husbands, etc.  Geordie is good company though!

It's time to start another thread.

So, Click Here to get there.
