Morning Devotional...

I am the door.
John 10:9

Recently my wife and I walked past several restaurants and in each case the menu was posted on the door. Clearly visible, they wanted you to know what they served and at what cost. Everything available on the inside was written on the outside.

It reminded me of the Lord Jesus who is the Door. By looking to the Door we see in Him all the blessings available to us.

But we see too the cost of those blessings. The Lord Jesus shows us His pierced hands and feet and we know that although His blessings to us are free, they cost Him His very life blood.

"I am the door, by Me if any man enter in, he shall be saved."
—Charlie Tempest

One door and only one
and yet its sides are two.
I'm on the inside;
on which side are you?

Heh!  I'm first. :)

Do you think we could take "Plumbersbut" off of the latest member stats?  I keep looking at that, and haven't seen a post from him yet.  Anyone else wondering about that?  Maybe I'm just being picky, picky. haha

Marilyn, awhile back you asked about my boys...when I said they were sitting at my feet while I drank my coffee, and you asked if they lick my feet.  Ty would if I let him.  He just wants to touch me all the time.  He stares into my eyes and just waits for me to hug him.  He's the sweetest little boy. (they are 9 months now)  His brother, Rocko can fly. He jumps on furniture, sails down and behind, runs in circles, jumps on his brother and around the room again.  He isn't still very often.  Ty will play when he wants and just watch Rocko with a wary eye when he doesn't.  I'm so glad I have two.  They play out in the back yard together a lot.  They eat together, sleep together, learn lessons together.  They're great and I love them more every day.

Al, what's this I read about you going to Mexico?  Did Marbeth make it back from the laundry with your clothes?  I guess we'll see you when you get back.....unless you decide to stay and live the simple life. :)      My daughter and her husband just got back from Puerta Vallarta.  It rained a lot. haha

My eyelids are trying to tell me something so I'll get off here and on to bed.  ' Night, everyone.

ALWAYS NOW

We ... beseech you that ye receive not the grace of God
     in vain.

     Corinthians 6:1

The grace you had yesterday will not do for to-day. Grace is the
overflowing favour of God; you can always reckon it is there to draw
upon. "In much patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in
distresses" - that is where the test for patience comes. Are you
failing the grace of God there? Are you saying - Oh, well, I won't
count this time? It is not a question of praying and asking God to
help you; it is taking the grace of God now. We make prayer the
preparation for work, it is never that in the Bible. Prayer is the
exercise of drawing on the grace of God. Don't say - I will endure
this until I can get away and pray. Pray now; draw on the grace of
God in the moment of need. Prayer is the most practical thing, it is
not the reflex action of devotion. Prayer is the last thing in which
we learn to draw on God's grace.

"In stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labours" - in all these
things manifest a drawing upon the grace of God that will make you a
marvel to yourself and to others. Draw now, not presently. The one
word in the spiritual vocabulary is Now. Let circumstances bring you
where they will, keep drawing on the grace of God in every
conceivable condition you may be in. One of the greatest proofs that
you are drawing on the grace of God is that you can be humiliated
without manifesting the slightest trace of anything but His grace.

"Having nothing . . ." Never reserve anything. Pour out the best you
have, and always be poor. Never be diplomatic and careful about the
treasure God gives. This is poverty triumphant.

Good Morning I was wondering the same thing Nita. I know he registered a long time ago but don't recall any posts that time either. I am so glad that you are enjoying your doggies. The only time Bebe tries to lick my feet in when I first get out of the shower. Notice I said tries.

Thanks Pat for  today's devotional Jesus is the door to everything.

Be back in awhile.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  We will soon be leaving to attend church.  This is our last Sunday to sing in the choir until August.

I was surprised to pick up the phone this morning and have our step grandson on the line.  He turned 20 yesterday and is planning on coming to see us this afternoon.  We haven't seen him for about 6 months.  He was in the National Guard and his unit was activated and he was in basic training at Fort Stewart.  However, things happened in his life and he was honorably discharged.

I am certainly glad to hear that Ruth Ann doesn't have a broken hip--not that a broken foot is in the least desirable.  A few days ago in the doctor's office we saw a lady come in with either a broken foot or a foot that had been operated on.  She had the neatest little scotter that is similar to one of the little seats with 4 wheels but just half width.  She put the knee of the bad foot on the heavily padded area and held on to the walker  handles and would push with the good foot.  It avoided the need to use crutches and certainly looked much more secure.  I tried to find a picture but didn't have any luck.  I think it is something new.

Marilyn, sorry to hear about your grandchildren's uncle.  I will be reading your prayer request.

Janet, what a day you had with the children.  That let you be a child for a few hours as well.  I sure it was a memorable experience for them.  I do hope Beth will be able to make her planned trip.  It sounds like it is probably a good idea not to have the bird to be responsible for if she cannot care for it.

Nita, it sounds like the pups are a lot of company to you.  I am sure they love all the attention.  It is interesting how each animal has a distinct personality.

Pat, it sounds like you got too hot.  I so well remember visiting my grandmotehr before she had any air-conditioning (we didn't either) and she would be baking pies or working in the kitchen and come to greet me with a lot of "glow" dripping off.

Karmat, it sounds like you had a busy day yesterday.  You are indeed an active family.

Well it is about time to leave for church so better sign off for now.

Marilyn

The fire trucks have arrived to begin their day of burning down those little houses. However I won't bee here this morning as I will be at church. I will take more photos when I get home. The photos may not turn out very clear. It si overcast today, the fog ya know.

Time to go now.

We had a wonderful service at church.  The church is continuing to grow, and we are so thankful for great pastors.

Abby's parents called this morning, she was so glad to hear from them.  They said they are getting a little tired, since it is light around the clock up there in Alaska this time of the year, and they don't know when to go to bed nor when to get up!  They were outdoors taking photos of some moose at 11:00 last night!  They are having awonderful time and will fly back to Denver Wednesday afternoon.

I need to see what I can find for us to eat, then go out and pick some more cherries!

Ruth Ann Bice

Hi, friends,

This is the first time I've been to the discussion since my fall on Thursday. Fortunately, I've figured out a way to get around with the crutches - after Leslie brought them down to size for a "li'l ole lady."

Fortunately, I'm getting about to move about a bit. After being online, though, I plan to settle into the recliner with my favorite christian book for a bit of reading, dozing, and prayer.

Thanks for praying for me.

Much love to all,
Ruth Ann

Larry:  Thank you for you note several days ago on Don's medical checkup.  I see that you are having or have had company - our house is ready once more for sleepovers.

Ruth Ann:  It is good to see you posting and resting well too.

One part of our sermon last night was on praying for others - not just the same ones we always pray for all the time.

Pat:  I hope that your responses from the survey help in your planning.

Good evening!!!  Church was great today as always.  I ate my lunch on the way home from church so I could be home by 1 p.m.  Today was Lapel's Home Tour.  Ivalou asked if we could call Marge and see if she would like to go....YES!!!  So Marge went with us.  There were only 5 homes...don't know why they 6th one backed out.  My second-cousins home was the one I would pick...had personal touches but a home I could live in and it was a livable home.  The others were all so full of stuff, I would go spastic.  And I wouldn't even want to think how long it would take to dust all the stuff in those houses.  A couple of houses didn't need to paint or wallpaper from a chair rail down...you couldn't see the walls...too much stuff in front of them.  Oh, well...to each their own.

Then we went to the Pizza King and got us a BIG cold Coke.  Pat, you talk about glowing.  Well, I am so tired of glowing.  Seems that any exertion at all and I glow very wetly.  Is wetly a word?  I bought me a Butterfly Bush yesterday but wasn't planning on putting it in the ground tonight but since my glowing was so much today with going in and out of A/C all afternoon, I decided that I would plant my Butterfly Bush and then water the rest of my flowers.  Then take a shower and wash my hair.  I did.  Now I am cooled down.

It is dark now...well, almost and still 88°.  Too hot for me!!!

Karma...I like that thought of "Jesus is coming today.  Yesterday is gone...tomorrow will never come so Jesus will come today."  Yes, I like that.

MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

Janet

Etta Sue, the home tour sounds like fun.  We have those here, too, but during the Christmas season.  We used to do them for the Art Association, but it sort of fell apart, so we gave it over to the DOVES. (Domestic Violence prevention group.)   They have a safehouse here somewhere.  Thankfully, I have no need to know where it is!  The older I get, the more I agree with you, simpler is better, more peaceful and easier to clean!

I am wanting to paint, but will wait until Abby goes home.  Wonder why??  hehehe.  Well, we could paint, but then it would be her painting and grandma teaching, and I am wanting to finish a couple of paintings that are started.

Tomorrow I will go talk to my doctor, if I can get in, also have to take Beth, as she has been sick for a couple of days with upset stomach and diarrhea, and her feet are so swollen she can't even get her socks on them.  So of course she didn't go to church today.

I picked more of our cherries today, and ate probably two cups of sour cherries.  Yum!  I may be having one of Beth's problems tomorrow.  ;)  Darrel is making cherry juice out of some of them.  We have probably five gallons more still on the trees.  This is the best cherry crop we have ever had; but we have not one single peach this year.  :(

Well, I am just jabbering, nothing really earth-shaking to say, so I'd best just get off here!  See you tomorrow.

Ohhh, nice to see you Ruth Ann.  Just lovely!

This is my first chance in here.  Was away nearly all day with the kids.  Now, I'm tired and ready for bed.  LOL
