Morning Devotional...

The God of your father.... Genesis 31:29

Was this merely a common term of the day, or had Jacob not given Laban any reason to believe that he had a relationship with this God?

Even though Laban admitted he had enjoyed the Lord's blessings for Jacob's sake (30:27) it seems he was reluctant to call the Lord the God of Jacob even when making a covenant with him (31:53).

Let it be a lesson to us who have the legacy of godly parents--are we following their example in such a way that our observers are prepared to acknowledge that the God of our fathers is our God too?

My spirit and faculties fail;
O finish what Love has begun!
Destroy what is sinful and frail,
And dwell in the soul Thou hast won!

I wanted to come in a say

Welcome Melvin and boyet quilon

Janice

Oh, Pat, thank you for putting that song on.  Now I will be humming it till I go to bed.  I love it.  and I would dearly love to hear you sing it too.  Are you a soprano or alto?  I have a feeling you are alto.  I sing soprano, though not very well because I can't read music.

Maybe I am not too bad though, because they keep trying to get me to join the sanctuary choir at church.  I am a member of the OASIS choir (Older Adults Still In Service).  That is so good for me, we sing the old songs that still have so much meaning to an old lady like me.

Mieka, I don't think I have told you - I like your new photo!  Very good.  and don't worry about making us smile.  After all, the Bible mentions how a merry heart doeth good like a medicine!  That's what you do!

Hi Janet, how did you fare during tonight's storm?  We had a small one, but very wet.

Hi Sonja!  I see you are up late too.

And now a big welcome to

Melvin

and

Boyet Quilon

Come on in and chat with us!

Happy Lord's Day, everybody!
Love,  Janice
This is the day the Lord has made, we will rejoice and be glad in it.   Ps 118:24

Oh PAT ... Thank you for today's devotional ... and a quote from Madame Guyon too!  I love  her writings.  I have read and reread several of her books and can't seem to get enough!   ;)

I, too, wish to extend a warm WELCOME to our newest members: Melvin and Boyet Quilon   How wonderful to see this fellowship of kindred souls growing!   :D :D :D :D
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

I will begin today by also welcoming our new members Melvin and boyet.  We will be looking forward to your postings and sharing with us here.  It is a wonderful day when we have new folks join with us.

Marilyn, congratulations on getting the job even before you have arrived in the area.  You have depended on the Lord to provide and that is exactly what has happened in connection with your move.

Jeanne Lee those graduation ceremonies can become very long and if it is hot very uncomfortable.  You were wise to stay at the back even if you didn't get any good pictures.

Mieka, we all enjoy good humor and getting a chuckle.  In my view you certainly did nothing wrong with your fun picture.  What will be next?  ::)

Pat, do hope you are getting some rest this weekend.  You are certainly being a servant for God as you help your neighbor get to his treatments.  How much longer will this series of treatments last?  I know I have appreciated my daughter (and the friend substituted one day) driving me to and from my treatments.  I am feeling stronger and believe I will be able to do the driving after this week when she starts back to school for the summer.

We will be leaving for church in a little bit.  This is the last day for our interim associate pastor to be with us.  He came to help us for a year or so and has been here five years.  We are having a reception for he and his wife and son after the service.  He had also been an interim pastor at the church we attended before we moved so we knew him when he came to our church.  It is his ministry to serve in these types of positions.  His wife is also a minister and is the registrar at Columbia Seminary in Decatur, GA, which isn't too far from our church.

Hope everyone has a good Lord's Day.

Carol

I am praying that some good will come out of our oldest son's accident yesterday.  He lost part of his ring finger while working on an olf Mustang car and is on heavy pain medication.  He is always cautious but this just happened and they were planning a sailboat trip in the Carribbean this week so losing a lot of money there.

Judy:  Thanks - I will sure try to check in a bit.

Melvin:  Welcome to this warm and caring group!

Marilyn:  It is just terrific for you - I am so happy to hear of your news.

Mieka:  Hello - Good Sunday morning to you!

boyet:  Welcome to this great group!

I feel a little stressed - that comes from being a parent and not being able to do anything about a situation when a child is hurting.   Have a lovely Sunday all.  Carol

This is the day the Lord hath made and I will rejoice and be glad in it.

I am looking forward to attending church this morning and hearing the messages that our Sunday school teacher and our Pastor has for us. I am so thankful to the Lord for providing me with a new place to live next door to my son and for providing a job for me. David said in one of the Psalms "Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart". I trusted in Him to give me the job that HE had for me and He couldn't have chosen a better job. Isn't our God an Awesome God.? :o

I will be back later. Must get ready now.

Karma, Nard and sweet, smiley face Travis are 'On the Road Again!'  And I just know that before they get home Travis will be saying 'Etta Sue'.   ::) He is a darling.  When he smiles and laughs, his whole body smiles and laughs.  Love that little guy and his parents ain't bad either!!!!!  ;D :D ;D ;)

Just wish we would have had more time to spend with each other.

Now I am off to Pendleton to get Jerry and off to 2nd service church.

WELCOME, BOYET!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, PAULETTE, AND MANY MORE!

Hello to all my dear friends (that includes each one of you!) here on CP.  We enjoyed an evening of music, songs from the 1950s, called "A Night at the Drive-In" along with a HUGE hamburger dinner last night in Dodge City.  Light-hearted and fun, totally enjoyable.  It began to rain and hail while we were there, and I quickly prayed the hail would not damage the cars outside in the lot, and the hail was all small, no damage.  We serve an awesome God!

On the way home, we drove through such a downpour of rain we could barely see the highway, and our road is such a bog we barely made it on to the house.  So rather than risk getting stuck in the mud, I have attended five church services this morning via TV.  Some really good food there!

Judy, I forgot to answer your question about Beth and John.  Yes, John is still very much in the picture.  They are such an encouragement to each other, and neither has ever dated.  So they can start with a clean slate!  You don't find folks in their 40s like that often these days!  They are still chatting via computer, and phoning!
And about ironing...........I must confess, I do very little ironing these days!  I learned to iron with an old gas iron that scalded my wrist, and absolutely hated it!  So I had an aversion to ironing.  I don't mind it now, just don't do much of it! ;)

Carol, I'm so sorry to hear about your son's finger!  Boy, does that sound painful!  And it's too bad they can't go on their trip.  Maybe they should go ahead, he can heal just as well away from home, and it might take his mind off the pain.

Marilyn, I'm joining in the Pentecostal Happy Dance with you over your new job!  Oh, how good our God is, and how we should continually praise Him!  I am so happy for you, dear sister!

My, I'm talking too much, so I will go away and look at photos now.  See you later!

No, you aren't talking too much, Janet!  I love it!  I'm so glad that you had such a nice time last night.

Happy Birthday
Paulette!

(You don't have your birthday filled in in your Profile so we would never have known if it weren't for Jen!  I hope you do put it there so we won't forget next year!)

Carol, I was so sorry to read of your son's finger!  That's got to be so painful.

Hello Marilyn, Jen and Etta Sue!

Janice, I'm sure you'd sing so beautifully.  I was a soprano but you know the old saying, "If you don't use it, you lose it!" and that's the case with me.  As Jack got more ill, I didn't do any singing and my voice has lowered and I'm just not up to snuff (as they say!).

So glad to see you posting, Jane!  I wish Nita would.  Give her a hug for me and tell her she's so missed.

Sonja, what are you doing today?  Taking photos?  LOL  (I'm still at the 5.00 mark on dpc!!!)

Great that you're feeling a wee bit better, Larry.  How much longer now do you have with these treatments?

Well, I'm in a huge rush.  I'm being picked up in about 10 minutes and going to the Guelph Hiking Trail Club year end pot luck supper and it's way out in the country and yes, Janet, I have my bathing suit packed but not sure if I'll put it on or not!  LOL

Talk to you later when I get home.

Where's our Mieka?

In the meantime, everyone fill in their preferences with birthdates!!!!!

Happy Birthday Paulette
Well we enjoyed our worship this morning.  The singing and the lesson were especially good today.

The last of our grandchildren, David, accepted Jesus and was baptized last evening.  We and all the family gathered at the church building where my son-in-law preaches.  Afterwards we gathered around and prayed over him.  He is 12 years old and a very sweet child if I do say so myself.  It truly was a happy day.  Now all of our children, grandchildren, son-in-laws, and grandson-in-laws are Christians

I hope you all are having a good day today.

Oh, Papa John!  What wonderful news!  Would that it were so in my family, but we have some way to go before we can be assured that all are in the fold.  I am so happy for you and Cornelia, and I know that all the angels are rejoicing over your sweet grandson's accepting the Lord.  God bless you all.

Our Sunday school lesson was on Psalm 77, and titled Dealing with Depression. Brother Al just posted Psalm 77 yesterday or was it the day before.. The sermon was on Psalm 95. Praising the Lord. The song service was Awesome, I gave my testimony about getting the job just before we sang"Awesome God" I am praising the Lord today for His goodness and for His provision in my life.

Thanks Janet for "Faith to Faith.

Good afternoon all.  We have a cool cloudy and windy day up here in the north.  This is a big relief for those who suffer with the weather.

Iain I love your photos, everyone should take the time to look at them.

We had a good day at church, our pastor finished a series on the Shepherd Psalm the 23rd.  It was interesting that he looked at it from a different view point that Jack did.  I think it is so wonderful that a selection of scripture can have so many applications.  I have asked him for a copy of his notes as well and he is graciously giving them to me.

Meika, Meika,where are you?

Hello to everyone else, have a good day, and God bless.

Happy Birthday Paulette

Welcome to our new members.

Carol

I have been baking cookies all afternoon - to bring to Minnesota.  As if they don't have enough cookies in that state but I want to bring my own to relatives.

Janet:  Whew!  Don't you just hold your breath when it begins to hail?  Just had a call from our son and he is in pain and only hoping that Kaiser will help him tomorrow - don't have this on a weekend.

Pat:  Yes - his finger area is throbbing and we can only pray for relief - he will try to get situation started tomorrow for hand surgeon to look into it.   Oh, go ahead and wear your bathing suit - I wear one all the time at the Senior Center - that is the only place I dare ;D

Papa John:  Such a sweet evening for you and your grandson.  I am so happy for you.

I prayed that something good would happen and my son and daughter talked to each other for 30 minutes - they have always been so competive with each other.  Carol

Good evening everyone!!  What a wonderful Lord's day.  Jerry and I attended the second service....seemed strange because we always go to the first service.  I saw people that I have never seen before!!!  The service started out with about 40 kids singing songs they learned at VBS this past week.  Videos were shown on the overhead and slide shows on the overhead.  What a wonderful weeks for the kids and it looked like the adults enjoyed it just as well.  Jerry was there every day for the sound systems.  It seems there were 260-275 kids every day.  They were divided up into 5 groups and has 5 different leaders that taught similar things in each group.  The theme was 3-2-1 Penguin!!!  A space theme.  Jerry can tell you more about it.

Jerry and I then had lunch and went to his place.  I promptly fell asleep on his couch.  If I ever need a bed, I think I will buy his couch.  It is so comfy!  We then got carry-out and went to the park and ate beside of Fall Creek on a picnic table and watch the kids play and the ducks in the water.  It even sprinkled a little rain but we didn't get wet.  We were under a sycamore tree with almost umbrella size leaves to keep us dry.  I got home before dark...in fact, it isn't dark yet.

Papa John ~ It is wonderful that everyone in your family has accepted Christ.  That is a family dedicated to Christ.  I think I only have a few more....less than a hand full.  Well, I guess you could say it is my parents family....us three kids, our kids and in-laws, grand kids and greats.

I am off to the photos before I get too windy in this thread.

I am praying that Karma, Nard and Travis make it back home safe and sound.

karmat

We are home!!!!

We had a great time this weekend, and it was fun seeing parts of the country that I had never seen before (even if I was constantly on the lookout for tornadoes!!).  Etta is a great hostess, and I hope Ali isn't too traumatized.   :-\  Travis tried so hard to play, and Ali tried so hard not too!  ;)

The trip was uneventful, except for a couple of embarrassing moments at a McDonald's.  Bernard gave me his wallet, and told me to order while he and Travis found a highchair and got seated.  The place was slam-full.  So, I got up, ordered, went to pay, and NO MONEY IN THE WALLET!!!!!  We got it straightened out, then, I was going to go to the little girls room before he started out.  I walk to the restrooms, push the door and look eye to eye with a man.   :-[  I hadn't read the signs on the door, just walked in.  I have never been so glad to get out of a place in my life.

I have some pics that I will post sometime in the next couple of days.

AGAIN, THANK YOU ETTA SUE!!!!!!!!!!  MAYBE NEXT TIME WE CAN SEE EACHOTHER MORE!

Tell Jerry, "Hello" for us!

Jerry L. Sowers

Karma ~ Hi to you and Bernard. Tell Travis hi and give that little guy a hug for me. I am so glad you are home and know God was riding with you all the way! I really enjoyed meeting the three of you and hope that we will be able to get together again someday! Before Travis graduates college!! ;)

Ruth Ann Bice

I am also thinking God for a safe trip home. The trip was half again as long as usual, for a wreck kept us as a crawl for 2 hours.

The good news is that I had a Max Lucado book to read, so read as we were stopped and drove as the traffic patterns allowed.

The business portion of the trip went well, and the family visit was good, too. I think Mark enjoyed his 38th birthday with family close by.

He sent me home with a bunch of fresh produce he just picked today from his garden. I'm off work tomorrow, so I know what my tasks are - slicing, dicing, cooking, and freezing. Yum, yum!
