Morning Devotional...

The same day did the king hallow the middle of the court that was before the house of the Lord. . . because the brazen altar that was before the Lord was too little to receive the burnt offerings, and meat offerings, and the fat of the peace offerings.  1 Kings 8:64

Think of the blood that flowed that day and the aroma of those sacrifices ascending one after the other. Surely God must have been well pleased. Yet Hebrews 10:6 tells us, "In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin Thou hast had no pleasure." There was no satisfaction in all these offerings because they could never measure up to that once for all sacrifice made at the cross of Calvary. Oh the value of the death of the Lord Jesus Christ!
--Paul Robertson

No Blood, No Altar Now

Author:  Horatius Bonar, 1808-1889
Musician:  Composer Unknown

No blood, no altar now,
The sacrifice is o'er!
No flame, no smoke ascends on high,
The lamb is slain no more,
But richer blood has flow'd from nobler veins,
To purge the soul from guilt,
and cleanse the reddest stains.

We thank Thee for the blood,
The blood of Christ, Thy Son:
The blood by which our peace is made,
Our victory is won:
Great victory o'er hell, and sin, and woe,
That needs no second fight,
and leaves no second foe.

We thank Thee for the grace,
Descending from above,
That overflows our widest guilt,
Th'eternal Father's love.
Love of the Father's everlasting Son,
Love of the Holy Ghost,
Jehovah, Three in One.

We thank Thee for the hope,
So glad, and sure, and clear;
It holds the drooping spirit up
Till the long dawn appear;
Fair hope! with what a sunshine does it cheer
Our roughest path on earth,
our dreariest desert here.

We thank Thee for the crown
Of glory and of life;
'Tis no poor with'ring wreath of earth,
Man's prize in mortal strife,
'Tis incorruptible as is the throne,
The kingdom of our God
and His incarnate Son.

The common cold.  My Vivian has two very effective methods in either stopping a cold in it's tracks, and getting rid of one.  If the cold is just starting, I assure you Zicam no drip liquid nasal gel stops the symptoms in eight hours.  The other is Zinc.

Never overuse Zicam as it can cause loss of smell in some people.  I've used it and it's great.

Jane Walker

You're absolutely right. LEE!  My daughter told me about Zicam a couple years ago and it really does work ... FAST (or should I say quickly ???).

Well, I am not entirely sure where my last post disappeared to, but I did post a reply earlier this afternoon.

Mom is partially correct in her description of the employer I work for.  It is one of the largest places in North Bay to work for.  However, I am sure my mom didn't know, the new call center is now open, and only has about 20 empty seats for either the day shift or night shift.  I am almost positive, although I haven't been there in a few weeks, they are almost back up to capacity at the old call center as well now.

Also, the pay we are getting to start is only $1.85 above minimum wage, and IF we meet quota then we are "blessed" with a bonus of another $1.25.  It isn't a lot of pay for the verbal abuse we sometimes endure.  Some of the things that I hear on a nightly basis would make your toes curl.

Dad, I appreciate the fact that you mentioned you selling life insurance.  Although I don't remember that when I go to work at night, I do remember watching your frustration every time you came home, and listening you your stories about George.  I only remember his name because I remember calling him George of the Jungle....LOL

My career goal is to become a graphic design artist.  I don't know what the pay is like, and it really wouldn't be an issue anyway.  I have learned with playing with PSP, and having my printing business that I have a real passion for graphic art.  It is something that I would have no problem working on for hours and hours on end, and Jon can attest to the fact that I have, on many occasions.  I remember telling you a while ago that I was thinking about becoming a social worker.  I firmly believe this was an emotional reaction to what is going on with my family.  Although I am interested in what happens in the life of a social worker, I have learned how studying social work can turn a warm friendly caring individual into a cold unfriendly uncaring one, and I don't want that for my life or my family.

Anyway, it is again time for bed.

Love to all,
Heather

Good morning all.

I slept soooo good last night.  Probably because I was so tired from the lack of sleep the night of the retreat.  And from all the walking while shopping tires me as well.

I am ready to leave for church.  Really looking forward to hearing the word today.  We are all truly blessed to have our Lord in our lives.

Pat that is a hymn that I don't know.  Did we used to sing it at church?  It isn't one of the common ones.  Nice though.

EtteSue I am glad you had a good sleep last night.  Hope today is a good one as well.

Pat zinc works well as Lee said.  There are zinc lozenges you can get too.  Taste terrible but they work with throat soreness.   :P

Thanks Lee I had forgotten about zinc, a good reminder..

I had a rough night last night,  My hip was aching and I couldn't get comfortable.  All the usual ways were ineffective.  Two Tyleonal finally worked.

WE are having out College and Careers Sunday this week.  I am looking forward to this, these are the young people who are going to be the leaders of the future.  They are getting in the race, and in training to take the baton.  They will do well, as long as they get the training they need.   :)

Cute story from yesterday.  As most of you know we have 2 rottweillers.  Jake is not long tobe with us and Bruno is the young upstart.  These guys are buddies.  I rarely let them out alone together as I know Jake does like to go into the bush.  I don't want him to do this and wind up in trouble.   Anyway yesterday, they went out together and as they started down the road I let them go, and watched.  When it was evident that they were heading beyond hearing, I called.   Jake turned and started back.  Bruno stayed with Jake till he was almost at the deck. then Bruno came to the deck and waited with me.  Jake was taking too long so Bruno ran out to see where he was.  He went back and forth till Jake was coming up to the deck then and only then would Bruno come in the house.  He has become so protective of my buddy.

Well have to go,
Have a Godly day

Hi everyone and a special welcome to Kim and Stephen.  We are always happy to welcome new folks to the CP site.

We have a pretty and sunny Sunday morning.  We will be headed to Sunday School and Church in a little while.  We have two special musical guests at the church this morning and this evening who will take part in the services.   Kyle Matthews will give a concert at 7 pm, but we will also have Integrity Recording Artist Dave Lubben participating in our morning services and giving a special concert during the Sunday School hour.  I don't know who either of these gentlemen are but expect some of our younger folks will know of them.  Our youth minister is only part-time and he has a Christian recording artists agency as his other work.  I think this is why we have special concerts several times a year.

Pat, sorry to hear you have taken a bad cold.

A friend from church sent me the following and I thought I would share it this morning:

QuoteThe next time you feel like GOD can't use you, just remember...
Noah was a drunk,
Abraham was too old,
Isaac was a daydreamer,
Jacob was a liar,
Leah was ugly,
Joseph was abused,
Moses had a stuttering problem,
Gideon was afraid,
Sampson had long hair and was a womanizer,
Rahab was a prostitute,
Jeremiah and Timothy were too young,
David had an affair and was a murderer,
Elijah was suicidal,
Isaiah preached naked,
Jonah ran from God,
Naomi was a widow,
Job went bankrupt,
John the Baptist ate bugs,
Peter denied Christ,
The Disciples fell asleep while praying,
Martha worried about everything,
The Samaritan woman was divorced, more than once,
Zaccheus was too small,
Paul was too religious,
Timothy had an ulcer...AND
Lazarus was dead! ...no more excuses now.
God can use you to your full potential.
Besides you aren't the message, you are just the messenger. Share this with
a friend or two... In the Circle of God's love, God's waiting to use your
full potential.

"God grant me the serenity to accept the people I cannot change...the
courage to change the one I can ... and the wisdom to know it's me."

Hope everyone has a good day.

Kim

Good morning, and thank you all for the welcome!

I thought I would tell you a little about myself, if that's okay?

My husband, Dennis, has been a United Methodist pastor for the past 5 years.  Before that, he was in retail.  We have a son, Dustin, 22, a daughter Melissa, 19,  a son, Mitch, 18 and ....our grandbaby, Dylan, 1 year old on Mar. 3!

I work for a company that works with schools to teach technology.  Dennis and I also started a Christian website a little over a year ago, GoPraise.net.  I have a few of my photos on that site.

Not much more I can think of to say right now, which is good, since I need to get ready for church! :D

A friend and I were having a discussion and he was telling me how a person had wronged him and then threatened him.

My friend told this man that something bad was coming his way.  The man retorted with great anger, "From who?" My friend responded, "From God."

That led to the discussion of "getting even" or standing up for what is right when you being wronged.

I am reminded of this:  If there was ever a time for someone to do something to overcome a wrong, it was during punishment and cruxifiction of Jesus.

The movie "Passion of the Christ" depicts the terrible and painfull way that he was whipped and punished.  If ever there was a time for a bolt of lightning to strike the guard with the whip or the stone thrower.

While He carried the cross and was being spit upon and stoned, if there ever a time for Him to drop the cross and say to the crowd, "Now you've really made me mad."

While He hung on the cross and looked down and saw His mother crying, if ever there was a time for Him to jump down and run over and comfort His mother.

As he hung there and looked from side to side at the two thiefs.  One teased and taunted him and said, "If you are REALLY the Christ, save yourself and us."  If ever there was a time to jump down and prove to that man He really was who He said He was, surely this was the time.

The other man knew he was getting only what he rightly deserved, but "This Man did nothing to deserve His punishment."  If ever there was a time to say, "Yeah, you're right, this has to stop here and now."

The next time someone cuts you off or tells an untruth about you....before you react.

The next time someone says something to make you angry..before you lash out with your two-edged sword.

The next time you even think about evening the score...put it in perspective....

Do you really want to get even?   If ever there was a time!

There's something strange going on here in McKinleyville, CA this morning.  There's something bright and shining out there.  Someone said it was sun, but we know that went away months ago, so I doubt that.

Welcome Stephen I see you made it here.

Welcome Kim We are glad to meet you
---------------------------------------------------------------------

I am feeling a little bit better today. I also want to ay something about Zicam, I am using the  lozenges and they work great too.

I am going to try to stay up as along as I can today. Yesterday was the whole day and night in bed except  to get up for a few minutes when Gilbert brought me something to eat. I couldn't stand up long enough to fix it for my self.  I am still stumbling a  little bit when I first get up but then it goes away. I am staying home from church today  and taking it slow. I need to shower and wash my hair and if I feel up to it I will vacumm.

Janet to give you the rest of the story on the telemarketers. They usually hung up on me  but I did get one young man to let me pray for him.

Hi Everyone...

(Sniffle, cough, shivver!)

Just to let you know...

Some of our members were on Photo-World and have been enjoying that photo site.  Recently the site was put up for sale and after working on setting up a new site called Photo-Sense, Neil aka Tragicharpy on here, has bought the old site but right now we'd love to have as many photographers as possible to show your photos on the new site.

Here's a link for you...

Photo-Sense

It's free and you're all welcome!

If you set up a gallery there with photos that are the size for posting here on CP (500 pixels on longest side and no larger than 35K), you can deeplink from that site and post your photos on Christian Photographers!

Neat, eh?

OH, THIS IS SO TRUE, WE JUDGE OUR NEW PASTORS BY THE OLD ONES!
DO WE WANT THE OLD PASTOR'S FAULTS AND FAILINGS TOO? :)

March 7

Pastoral Ministry: Personal Identity

Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in
word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.
--1 Timothy 4:12

This problem of personal identity not infrequently troubles the
faithful minister. The congregation has called him as their pastor
and teacher, but the members have a hard time forgetting the saintly
predecessor who died or who was called to another ministry. They
find it hard to make room for the new minister--mainly because he is
not enough like the former one. His voice is different. So are his
gestures. His hair is not gray. His wife is not as friendly.

Be careful! God blesses people for their faith and obedience, not
because they are old or young, bald or gray, pleasant voiced or
raspy. God expects each one of us to let Him use us in helping
people to a walk of spiritual blessing and victory. Not necessarily
must we have had a long record as heroes in the faith to qualify.
Jesus, Author of our Faith, 70.

"Lord, I pray for any of my brothers who may be facing this
struggle today. Challenge the congregation to move on and love
their new pastor. Give grace to the pastor; help him to faithfully
demonstrate faith and obedience. Weld pastor and people together
in a deep love relationship. Amen."

Thank you Pat for the devotional this morning.   It speaks of how the blood of animals can never pay for the remission for sins.   After seeing The Passion of Christ and all the blood that was spilled, it gives me a greater love for Jesus my Lord.

Thank you Lee for your kind comments.

This morning I was truely blessed myself.  Charles Price gave an evangelistic message and quite a few people came into the counselling room.   I usually counsel women, but there was no man counsellor around, so I talked to a 25 year old young man.  He came from a Christian family and said "He had waited until now to accept Christ"  After talking to him for a while, he repeated the sinner's prayer with tears running down his face.   Later I prayed for him and said something like "Father, I thank you that David is a child of God now and someday will be in heaven with all the saints of all the ages for all eternity."   He had more tears.  He will join the young adults group and I know will grow in the Lord.   I was touched and blessed myself and felt the tears coming.   Please pray for David.  This is a new beginning for him.

Love Ruthie

Oh dear Poor Pat  :'(, I am sorry you are not well dear.
Surely one of Zach's pills and potions will do the trick for you!

Myself I find unfortunately that a cold has to sweat itself out of me. I use Hall's Mentholyptus  and paracetamol.,plus a few drops of Eucalyptus oil on a tissue, held over my nose at night in bed to help me breath., plus loads of tissues!

I popped in earlier but it was so quiet in here and I popped out again.

Ria are you home from Jan's yet?

Marilyn Have a good rest and get better soon. We can't have you going down on us...not allowed!

Later on tonight the film "Saving Private Ryan" is on t.v.  I have seen it but Chris hasn't so I will watch with him. He's just taken Sunday dog for a tiny walk on the green. She found some mandarin orange peel to investigate, so her scent is still working., I do thank God for that.  It's not much fun for a doggie when the sight and hearing have gone. The vet said that scent is more important to a dog then the other senses.

Papa John and all others who come in later I say "Hello".

Ruthie.  I do thank God for the work you are doing for His glory.  Every Blessing.

Until Next week,
God Bless,
Love Jenny.

Ruthie

Hi Jenny,   I saw that movie "Saving Private Ryan"    It is a good movie.   I would like to see it again.    The last time I started to get a cold I took garlic pills every 3 hours and I nipped it in the bud!  The garlic pills are called bear paw garlic from Aim Int. the Barley Green people.   I think they are alpine wild garlic.   Very good.
