Morning Devotional...

Too Timid To Tell the Truth

Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marveled. And they realized that they had been with Jesus.

The contemporary moral climate does not favor a faith as tough and fibrous as that taught by our Lord and His apostles. The delicate, brittle saints being produced in our religious hothouses today are hardly to be compared with the committed, expendable believers who once gave their witness among men.

And the fault lies with our leaders. They are too timid to tell the people all the truth. They are now asking men to give to God that which costs them nothing.

Our churches these days are filled (or one-quarter filled) with a soft breed of Christian that must be fed on a diet of harmless fun to keep them interested. About theology they know little.

Scarcely any of them have read even one of the great Christian classics, but most of them are familiar with religious fiction and spinetingling films. No wonder their moral and spiritual constitution is so frail. Such can only be called weak adherents of a faith they never really understood.

I seem to be getting in too late several times in a row. I should be getting ready for bed, but our sweet Abby is here, and wanted to bake cookies. So we have to wait until they come out of the oven to get our showers and get to bed.

I have done better today..........think I only cried maybe four times, instead of every few minutes.

Tomorrow, her church is having a pot luck dinner in honor of my Mom's 90th birthday. If they will let her go, I will take Beth out of the hospital for that. She is to ask them in the morning whether they will allow her to leave the hospital and then come back in an hour or so. If not, I promised to take her a plate of food.

A budgie is a parakeet. That reminds me....they have some really colorful little birds at the care home, love birds, finches and others I don't know. Really pretty little things. They have a company that places them, cleans the habitat, takes out some when they hatch too many, etc. Wonder what they call that? Rent-a-Bird??

Oops, there goes the timer! Cookies are done!

Hi Pat and Janet.

Woke up this morning with a massive sinus migraine. It has
taken all day to get over it. It has been a long time since I have had one so intense.

Elizabeth, Kassie and I watched the Cronicles of Narnia this evening. That is a really good movie well worth watching.

Melaura is at a camp site near Paris for Pitch and Praise. I think I mentioned that earlier in the week. She will be home on Monday.

Well I need to go get some sleep. Be back tomorrow.

It is good to be busy about God's Work, though.

Thanks for the devotional thoughts for today. The believers at my church, not only witness of Jesus Christ, their lives shout Jesus Christ!

Larry ~ Sounds like your Guardian Angel was with you, too. Isn't that an awesome feeling? My near accident comes to mind quite often. I only know that after driving almost 6 hours that day, I know my mind didn't think to swerve and speed up!

Church today was awesome. I really didn't get to hear the second sermon, the teen sermon, since I was training a new gal to print cassette labels and affix them to the cassettes. I was tired, rushed but a different tired and rushed today than usual. My back didn't seem to hurt at all. Probably because I was doing different things.

I even got home early from church!

Another busy week coming up. Lots of things to do but not near what others have to do....just doing!

Are you all enjoying the Lord's Day? I hope you are.

They gave Beth permission to leave for the dinner, so we went to get her, and she was sitting out in front of the hospital in her power chair. She seemed to have a good time (as much as possible, given the circumstances) but when we had to take her back, she was crying before we got to the doors of the hospital---and so was I. She said "Why do I have to come back here? Why can't I go to my own house?" Sigh.........It is just SO HARD.

I guess tomorrow we will be talking to the people at the care home, they will do their assessment of Beth, her doctor will be back, and things will move along....I think. $:-\$ My prayer is that Beth will be more content after she gets settled in. But I so wish we had other options. Dr. Plumlee said she can have her dog at the Home......I said "REALLY??? They'll let her have her DOG??" and he said "I'll tell them it's NECESSARY!" So I hope that works out in her favor. I know there is a cat on the premises, and some rabbits who live in the enclosed courtyard. So I hope Mieka will be welcome there too.

I think I will lie down, if Miss Abby will let me.

Janet I too am glad you were able to take the pup to Beth, that would be good medicine. Get some rest. I pray you have had the opportunity to have a rest this afternoon.

Larry the song "Jesus Take the Wheel" by Carrie Underwood is a song you would relate to, I know I certainly do.

Well It is late and I am taking it easy today. Bye for now.

I agree Al. It's sickening.

I heard a man last night being interviewed and he said he always believe in Jesus and his birth, etc. but now after seeing the movie, he's definitely changed his mind.

On CJTK in the evening there are several people discussing the book. I have found it to be quite interesting. I believe one of the people is Lee Stroble. Pat do you have the song "The Bible Stands" This would be a good time to sing it.

Well I see the only thing have posted today in NEM was the Good Morning graphic.

I had a good day today although my back hurt me to sit down and I had to keep getting up in church and standing. The pain is gone now. If any of you have prayed for me I appreciate the prayers and Thank you very much.

I took Jan to the grocery store this afternoon before I went to prayer meeting. I have to take her to the eye Dr. tomorrow morning early and then we are going on our monthly girls day out. We will go shopping and to breakfast after the eye Dr and just make it a nice day. I enjoy so much the job I have with Jan she is so positive and we always have one day a month where we just go have fun.

Our Pastor had some things to say today about the DaVinci Code JUNK, too.

Jeff and Diane came to get Abby and we all went to Subway and ate supper. Then Jeff hooked up Darrel's trailer (going to move Curtis this coming Friday) and they went home, so I took Beth some long-sleeved pajamas and now I'm headed to bed. She said she was cold last night.

Please, Lord, let tomorrow be a better day. I am tired of feeling so profoundly sad and of crying all day...........
