JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

They found the stone rolled away from the sepulcher.
Luke 24:2
Did not our hearts burn within us...while He opened to us the Scriptures?
Luke 24:32
And their eyes were opened and they knew Him.
Luke 24:31
Then opened He their understanding.
Luke 24:45

This resurrection chapter is full of open things:

  • an open tomb;
  • open Scriptures;
  • open eyes;
  • open understanding.
Each carries a responsibility.

An empty tomb calls us to a relationship with a living Saviour.

Knowledge of Him is found in the opened Scriptures and with opened understanding, our hearts should burn to love Him more fully and serve Him more faithfully.
                                                                                                        ~S. McEachern~

The Lord is risen indeed!
Then justice asks no more;
Mercy and truth are now agreed,
which stood opposed before.

I got a good night's rest even though both kitties were active in my room and it was hot in the house.  I am all ready for church.  I told Jerry I would be leaving at 7:30 a.m. so that isn't far off.  We have nothing planned for this afternoon so I may just take a nap on Jerry's restful couch while he watches NASCAR on TV.  Sounds like a good plan.

Good morning everyone.  We are leaving early this morning for church for a pancake breakfast  to help support a group of our young people who are going to Honduras this summer.  I hope you all have a good Lord's day.

Sonja, thanks for stepping in and getting us started today.  The storms must be continuing up Pat's way.

Etta Sue, are you getting any of those storms.  The big weather pictures last night looked like you were right in the path of some very bad weather.  We did have some rain yesterday but it didn't last too long.  Hope we get a some more today.

Pat and I about did ourselves in yesterday in working up in our daughter's room to get ready for the contractor who is to be here tomorrow to start work on putting in a closet and adding a heat pump for the upstairs area over the garage.  He is also going to put slideout drawers in most of the bottom cabinets in our kitchen.  We have decided to wait on having any additions made on our house at this time.

We will be headed to Sunday School and Church shortly.  There is a special guest musician, Ronnie Freeman, who will be presenting a concert for the youth this morning and then participating in our worship services.  So our choir, while be in the choir loft, won't be doing any special music this week.

This afternoon I have to attend a Home Owner's Association meeting.  Hopefully it won't last for more than an hour and doesn't start until 3 pm.

Hope everyone will have a blessed Sunday.

Al Moak

The new and beautiful early morning sunlight is shining on the row of cedars across the way.  It's the Lord's Day, the day upon which He rose from the dead.  He reigns now and forever.  Helelujah!

I'll be preaching today at our church.  The text is Ephesians 4:11-16.  I consider it the most important message I'll ever preach, because it concerns God's purpose for the local church and how that purpose is to be carried out.  May our God bless His Word to each and every one today.  Amen.

Carol

Good Sunday to everyone!

Papa John:  Congratulations to you and Cornelia on your new grand baby - isn't it wonderful to watch the trust in the children's eyes - much like we look upon our dear Father.

Al Moak:  Might I suggest that you look for compression long socks in a large thrift store?  I find needful things like that given away as people don't always have use for them all the time.   Praying for your health and recovery.

Etta Sue:  Your posts are so cute - have a good visit with Jerry today.

Carol

Thanks so very much, Soni.  We had a very wild night here.  I'm going to read the posts from yesterday as soon as I can.  This is some weather for our first holiday weekend of the year.

Good afternoon!  We came home from church a little while ago, and I just read the posts.

We visited the Assembly of God church again this morning, Beth and Darrel and I.  They had a regional overseer (I don't know the exact title) there to install their new pastor.  It was interesting that the message he preached from II Kings 2 was the same thoughts that Jentzen Franklin was preaching on this morning on TV.  Jentzen was in Australia, and his sermon title was "Spirits make Men"........not talent, not wealth, etc., but the spirit within a man makes him what he is.  Very good sermon.

The preacher at church preached from the same text.  "In the mouths of two or three witnesses let every word be established."  Nothing is by chance, praise God.

I managed to post some photos last night, so I hope I get some comments on them, good or bad.  It is very discouraging to do all it takes to post photos, then only two or three people make any comment on them.  We don't even know if you look, if you don't post!

Graduation here is at 2:00.  I had planned to go, but now I think not.  I'm pretty tired.  Maybe the lost sleep is catching up with me today.

Hi everyone, It's a beautiful Sunday here! We are off to the zoo for family day.
Congratulations on the new baby, Papa John and Cornelia.  I like the name of Elsie, too. It's beautiful. I will be sure to take a look at the pictures in a moment.
Pray for Dalton my 6 year old. He fell getting out of the bathtub and hurt his head. He had to have 3 staples in it and is hurting today. I gave him tylenol. So I am praying that will work. He kept me up most of the night.

I'm off for now will talk to you all later.
Have a great Sunday!!
Hugs,
Shawnee

Nice devotional, Sonja.  We are lucky to have you take over for Pat.

We are having lovely weather today.  There was a nice rain during the night and it has made everything lovely and green.  The island is already on water restrictions and it is actually more like summer than spring.

I have still been having health problems, so did not press Wendy to attend church this morning.  She is always in so much pain when sitting for long periods.  At the moment, we are sort of a matched set!!

Miss Squeek (the cat) has decided that it is necessary to have equal time with both upstairs and down in my suite.  So I am going to get a scratching post for my place.  Now that she has settled in and feels we are nicely under her paw, she has been testing the waters of 'Going Where No Cat Fears To Tread'.  I keep the water spray bottle handy...

Are any of you familiar with the poetry of US poet, Lizette Woodworth Reese?  She was born in the 1800's.  I read some of her poetry the other day and one left a lasting impression.  It is called "Tears".  A couple of lines have stayed in my mind:

"When I consider life and it's few years...
I wonder at the idleness of tears."

Guess we can do more to spread our faith by being happy.  Sure takes effort these days, especially during election season...

God Bless.
Liz

Hi Everyone-
Ahhh that is where you were off to Shawnee I tried to call to see how Dalton was but, couldn't get through.
I hope you had a wonderful fun day with your family.
Hello to everyone else too-we had a beautiful service this morning and praying for one another-teaching the children to pray for others-Our church is kind of different we allow the kids to come into worship with us, we allow them to dance during worship along with us-its kind of cool-my 5 year old son put his hands on my fore head the other day when I wasn't feeling good and said in Jesus name-it was so sweet..Please pray for me for tomorrow-I get my results back from my blood test. I am still needing prayers that my blood pressure stabilizes too.
Blessings
Rachelle

Our pastor was totally surprised this morning - he never suspected a thing until he was told the service was being taken out of his hands.

The guest preacher, pastor of another small congregation in a nearby town, talked about "What John has learned in 30 years."  Our choir outdid itself (as usual) and there were many of his friends from other areas, including one of his sons who lives in Nashville, Tenn.

While his wife played the Postlude as usual, on the overhead screen there was a slideshow of pictures of John from infancy to recent times.

All in all, it was a great success.

Thanks, Carol, for the suggestion about bargain stores.  I'll definitely keep that in mind during the next few days, depending on what the wound care specialist says tomorrow.  I don't know what she's going to say when I tell her it was impossible to even get those stockings on!

Al Moak

Well I preched this morning, and it seemed like it was fairly well received.  We'll really see this evening, though, because we have a thing called the "forum," during which people are encouraged to ask questions or make comments re/the morning sermon.  That'll be interesting!

Jesus, Jesus, Jesus

Will all pass away
But there's something about that Name.

Good afternoon, friends,

I've rested today after coming in from church. It's been pretty busy lately and I needed the rest.

I've enjoyed the comments today.

Y'all have a good evening.

Good evening.

Larry, I don't think we had storms yesterday.  If we did, I slept right through them.  But today after church we had tornado watches until 4 p.m.  It rained while I napped at Jerry's.  I drove home in dry weather.  I had to put back down some landscaping cloth that was blown up.  Then it was annouced tornado watch until 8 p.m.  Then we got more high winds, rains coming down sideways and lots of thunder.  Still that way.

;D Isn't it funny how we remember the funny things during a sermon?  Today the Youth Minister was talking about how we sometimes are driving and you are 10 miles down the road and you can't remember how you got there.  AND sometimes we even nod off momentarily and suddenly wake up...hopefully!  He said, 'I remember someone telling me that his dad had passed away in his sleep.  Then he said when I die, I want to pass away just like my dad...not like the passengers in his car!'

Also the middle-school aged kids attend FRED.  I don't know what FRED means but they were discussing Matthew 5:13

QuoteSalt and Light

13"You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men.

Now how does salt lose its saltiness?  I have never thrown away salt because it wasn't salty anymore.  Two eighth grade girls came up with this a n alogy  ::) .....Everyone has used a yellow highlighter.  When you first start using it, it is a bright, clear yellow that highlights the letters and words on paper.  After some use, it starts to become black where it picks up the ink from the paper.  Finally, it is no good and you throw it away.  It has lost it highlightingness...(Danny's new word).  So keep your salt pure.  Don't let your saltiness be tarnished by the black, evil stuff.

Wow!!! I usually don't post twice on Sunday...must have been a great two sermons at church and I couldn't wait to tell you all about them tomorrow so told ya today!!!

Just another very quick post as more tornado warnings have been issued for my area here.  One touched down in Embro which is not too far away from me.

It's lightening and thundering outside something terrible.  I've got a couple of candles going in case I lose power again.

Pat, do you have a basement?  I would be pretty scared if I didn't.

Pat

I'm going down again, Soni.  Each time the weather settles a bit, I come up to check out CP and SeniorNet and my email and then I go back down with the cat and Geordie.  I slept down there last night and I will be sleeping down there again tonight.

Ohhhh, another big crash outside.

Gotta get off.
