JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
Mt.  3:17

This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
Mt.  17:5

Mark these same words coming from the same heaven about the same blessed Person, but on two separate occasions.

The one was beside a river, the other on a high mountain; the one at the commencement of the Lord's public ministry, the other towards the end.

In the first, the onlookers had to learn that Christ was distinct and different from the crowds who were confessing their sins when baptized by John.

In the second, the three favored disciples had to learn that Christ was distinct and different from every other man of God who had ever appeared on earth before.
--W. P. W. McVey

Among the sons of men;
Fairer is He than all the fair
That fill the heavenly train.

Majestic Sweetness Sits Enthroned
(Click to hear music)

Samuel Stennett

Majestic sweetness sits enthroned
Upon the Savior’s brow;
His head with radiant glories crowned,
His lips with grace o’erflow,
His lips with grace o’erflow.

To Christ, the Lord, let every tongue
Its noblest tribute bring
When He’s the subject of the song,
Who can refuse to sing?
Who can refuse to sing?

Survey the beauties of His face,
And on His glories dwell;
Think of the wonders of His grace,
And all His triumphs tell.
And all His triumphs tell.

No mortal can with Him compare
Among the sons of men;
Fairer is He than all the fair
Who fill the heav’nly train,
Who fill the heav’nly train.

He saw me plunged in deep distress
And flew to my relief;
For me He bore the shameful cross
And carried all my grief,
And carried all my grief.

His hand a thousand blessings pours
Upon my guilty head:
His presence gilds my darkest hours,
And guards my sleeping bed.
And guards my sleeping bed.

To Him I owe my life and breath
And all the joys I have;
He makes me triumph over death
And saves me from the grave,
And saves me from the grave.

To Heav’n, the place of His abode,
He brings my weary feet;
Shows me the glories of my God,
And makes my joys complete.
And makes my joys complete.

Since from His bounty I receive
Such proofs of love divine,
Had I a thousand hearts to give,
Lord, they should all be Thine.
Lord, they should all be Thine.

Spiritual Warfare and Sin: Dispositional Sins

Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put
away from you, with all malice.
--Ephesians 4:31

Dispositional sins are fully as injurious to the Christian cause as
the more overt acts of wickedness. These sins are as many as the
various facets of human nature. Just so there may be no
misunderstanding let us list a few of them: Sensitiveness,
irritability, churlishness, faultfinding, peevishness, temper,
resentfulness, cruelty, uncharitable attitudes; and of course
there are many more. These kill the spirit of the church and slow
down any progress which the gospel may be making in the community.
Many persons who had been secretly longing to find Christ have
been turned away and embittered by manifestations of ugly
dispositional flaws in the lives of the very persons who were
trying to win them....

Unsaintly saints are the tragedy of Christianity. People of the
world usually pass through the circle of disciples to reach
Christ, and if they find those disciples severe and sharp-tongued
they can hardly be blamed if they sigh and turn away from Him....
The low state of religion in our day is largely due to the lack of
public confidence in religious people.  Of God and Men, 84-85.

"Oh Lord, may I never be an 'unsaintly saint!' Give me a pleasant
disposition today, not that people would be attracted to me, but
that through me they may be irresistably drawn to Christ. Amen."

Very good devotion,  How much that scripture comes alive when you hhave a child.  I , as a father, can not fathom the Love of Father God to give his only begotten son to be sacrificed for a dirty generation such as ours.  My son means everything to me and I am upset even when he bumps his head, let alone take upon Himself a beating beyond recognition.  Jesus is worthy to be praised.
I put a photo of my son in the gallery I know you will get a better understanding why I love him so much.
Bless you all

Ruth Ann - I don't know how quickly you are needing to get that camera, but I would think that you would be very disappointed in a camera without a 'real' zoom.  Understand that when you hear 'Digital Zoom' it is not a real zoom.  All that happens is that the computer in the camera crops your picture, and then tries to guess what the color would be between two pixels.  For instance it would guess if the first pixel is yellow, and the next one is yellow, that if it was to digitally zoom into the pic, it would simply guess that the pixel between them was yellow.  Problem comes when there is a major difference in the colors, and it cannot figure it out.  You start getting blocky looking pictures.  Also understand that any 'digital zooming' can be done in a computer afterwards.

If you are looking for a camera in that price range, I have ordered from buydig.com several times.  They have a Konica-Minolta X-31 with a 3x optical (read real) zoom lens for $159 (http://www.buydig.com/shop/product.aspx?sku=MIDIMX31#description).  This is a very small, yet very good little camera that you can easily slip in a pocket or a purse and carry with you everywhere.  The reviews on it at http://www.dpreview.com are very good as well.  Now if you order from this site, you might receive a phone call trying to get you to buy extra accessories with it.  These accessories are more expensive than they should be, so if you get that phone call (I've only gotten it one time) simply say, "No thanks, just the camera please."

Remember though on all these cameras that you will need to buy a memory card for them and rechargeable batteries.  If you have any questions on that, simply send me an email and I can help you with that.  Hopefully this will help you, but I would really hesitate to buy a camera in that price range without a real zoom.  Just my humble opinion.
A watched clock never boils.

Janet

Mike, your advice sounds "right-on" to me!  The only complaint I had with the Kodak we have, was the zoom, and it is pretty good.  But my first HP, the zoom was difficult to use; you have to go into the menu, etc. and by the time you get it, the photo moment is gone!My new HP is a 5.1 MP and has a good zoom.  I love it!  And it cost around $500.00.  They have already decreased significantly in price, just since I got mine.

The man who spoke at church today has a ministry of speaking to jr. high and high school kids.  They go to the schools and conduct assemblies, then have a night meeting where they give the students the opportunity to receive Jesus.  They are having remarkable response.  He said that statistics show there are in the United States, 15 MILLION students who have never had even one verse of Scripture read to them!  So schools are the mission field God has called him and his wife to labor in for Him. And they work hard to get the students involved in ministering to other students, and to get them plugged into good churches after they receive Jesus.  God bless them!

Mmmmm..........good smells coming from the kitchen!  I just went to check on it, and Darrel is frying chicken.  So I'd better go make a salad or something.  See you later!

PAT,  I did as you said, re the gallery, and I can click on user galleries, even look at comments....but I can't find a place to leave a comment.  I know I did it before.  I even set up a gallery for myself.  I was going to add pictures today, but can't find it.  AGGGHHH!!     Oh, yes...and next to the Register, and Login buttons, I do see the Forums button.  I've used that to get back to the forums.

Could it be my browser?  Firefox?     Or could you give me a 1,2,3 list again. :)   I can't believe this is so hard for me. ???

OK!! I'm not losing my mind!  It's the browser.  I tried IE and get added buttons that aren't even there using Firefox.   That's so strange!  But I'm there, so that's what matters.  Just have to remember which browser to use for CP.  I feel sooooo much better. :) ;D

edit:
But, boy, is it slooooow compared to Firefox.

Hi everyone.  It is getting colder here in Georgia and will get close to freezing tonight.

We went to Sunday School and church this morning.  About 20 minutes before the end of the service I had the same thing happen to me as I had last Sunday and got sweaty but clammy and a bit nauseous.  I told my wife I didn't feel like going out to eat so we came home and by that time I was feeling better.  I checked my blood sugar and it was fine so suppose I must have had another adrenaline spike.  I was in the choir and didn't want to make a scene by sitting down or leaving the choir but was sure glad when the final Amen was said.  I took a nap this afternoon and then worked on the church webpage to get it updated.  I totally forgot a homeowner's meeting I was suppose to attend at 3 pm.

Matt, it is certainly nice to see you posting and I will check out your photos.

We had a call from our step grandson last night that he had become a father yesterday afternoon of a little son, named Adam.  So that is our third great grandchild.  He won't be able to see the new baby for about 5 weeks, when he comes back from military training in Fort Knox, TN.

Someone certainly goofed when they put up the $3 camera ad and it should have been over $3,000.

Hope everyone has a good evening.

Papa John

We have had a nice day here today.  This morning we ate breakfast in our apartment.  We went to church and afterwards found a very nice restaurant where we took our lunch.  Back at the Marriott Barony Beach Club we rested for awhile.  Cornelia had a nice nap.  I got in some reading.  Then we went down to the beach and she took a walk and I, wrapped up good, sat on the beach and read.

After while we are going to eat here.  We picked up some groceries at Publix yesterday.  It has been a beautiful day but windy and cool.  I’m not sure what all we will do tomorrow.  In the morning we will have a complimentary welcome breakfast.  On Wednesday I think we are going to take a tour of Savannah, Georgia, which is about 40 miles from here.  We have been there before but that was many years ago.

Janet

Larry, I hope you continue to feel better.  That's scary!  And next time, sit down!  People love you and they will understand, I'm sure.

Papa John, wish I could sit on the beach with you, or walk with Cornelia.  Enjoy your stay there.

I took a nasty fall this morning while taking Beth down her ramp to go to church.  I swept the snow off the ramp, but the boards were still wet and slick.  Now I am in pain, so I guess that means another trip to the chiropractor before we leave on our trip.  I want to be feeling good then so I can enjoy Thailand.  When I was 20 something, that wouldn't have bothered me much at all, but some years have gone by since then!  :-\

I am going to take more Tylenol and wrap up and put in a good movie on DVD.  See y'all tomorrow!

Larry~I hope you will take Janet's advice and take care of yourself regardless of what "it might look like" ... Congratulations on the new little great grandson!  :D

Janet~You need to be careful too!  :o  I sure do know about slick boards and the effect of years passing to emphasize the falls and bumps and bruises!   :-\

I just had a phone call from a friend who is bringing me some more wood!  This time it is hard wood and will hold a fire a long time.  I am so blessed!  Good friends, good provisions, and good health ... all coming from my Father in heaven who loves me!

I have had a very wonderful, refreshing day ... and now I need to get outside to receive this gift of firewood .... See y'all later.
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Hello Everyone!

I'm always so blessed to come here and read your posts but it's not nice to read of your fall, Janet.  That's terrible.

Papa John, I must have missed that you were away.  Have a great time.  I'd love to walk along the beach.  Such a nice memory of walking on the beach in Ireland.

I have company coming a little later so I better go and get ready for them.

I'll be back later.

Hi Matt.  I see you've changed your name.  I like how it looks now.

Larry, I sure hope they can figure out why your adrenline spikes like that.

Papa John,  it sounds as though you are having a good time.  Are you on vacation?

Jane, you sure won't go without wood this winter. :)  God is making sure of that.

Janet,  I'm sorry you fell.  I can't imagine your bones being anything but young and nimble....with all the physical things you do. :)  Hope your movie is a good one and the snuggling up works wonders.

Pat, I don't know that song, but like the lyrics.  We will see His Face.....we will see Him face to Face.   Can you, even in your most intimate times with the Lord, imagine what it will be like?   Wonderful Jesus.

My oldest cat died last night.  He was a rescue, and old when we got him.  He was huge.  My husband called him HOSS, and my grandaughter named him Cuddles.  He adopted the neighbor's kitties and spent as much time there as here. The kitties are all grown up now, but he continued being close to them all.  He died on the edge of her yard....she saw him and called me.  We know it was old age, and he died peacefully.  My grandson, Kyle, buried him for me at the edge of the property.  He said he saw a cat there last night, but didn't know it was ours so forgot to mention it.

Now I need a cup of tea and will watch the news.  It's been a thoughtful day.....

Sarah

hello everyone, been an uneventful day... went to church this morning then home watched some tv took a nap cleaned on my room now i'm going to do some homework.... sounds like everyones had an intersting day.... dad took a bad fall down our steps today... he was hurrying down them for church this morning and slipped on the ice.... he says he's ok but hurts... i can imagine he does...well i must get to work on the homework ttyl
Sarah

Janet

I watched a cute movie from "Feature Films for Families" called "Brainiacs."  And the snuggling up in a soft blanket in my recliner did help.  Now I think I'll go to bed early!

Abby called me this afternoon, all excited.  She said "Grandma, do you know all the books of the Old Testament?"  I told her I learned them when I was a kid, and thought I could still recite most of them, but might miss a few.  She said "I know them!  I just said ALL of them, about a half a minute ago!  Want to hear me?"

Of course, Grandma did want to hear, and she really has learned them, just in the past couple of days!  How about that??  She learned them for Sparks, her class in Awanas.  And, as part of my Grandma job, I told her how proud I am of her for that accomplishment!  ::)  I'm so thankful I get to share in this sweet little girl's life; she is a blessing.

I forgot to ask you,  Where did you stay in NY?  Me and my wife stayed on 27th and Broadway 1 block north of the Flat Iron bldg.  I believe it was a howard Johnson.
"Preach the gospel at all times -- If necessary, use words."
Francis of Assisi (1182-1226)

Nita

Janet, that little girl is such a blessing to you.  You have shared so much of your life together since I was first on CP.  Your posts show so well that she makes your heart shine.
I love reading of the things you do together, and I smile as I do.  She is blessed to have you as her very own gramma...that's for sure.  You two are a pair! :)

Matt, your little boy is so sweet and cute.   It really does make you see the Father's love in a different way, doesn't it?  Having your own child, I mean.

I'm still puzzled about why I can't see all the buttons in the Gallery, using my Firefox browser.  It must be in the configuration?  Maybe someone could tell me why that would be?  Does anyone else use anything but IE?  The buttons that are missing are the personal ones, like ordering/modifying your album, adding photos, etc. Oh, and also leaving comments in the User Gallery.   This is what kept me from doing anything.  I'm always curious about these techie things. lol

Only two pages today.  I guess it's just a quiet day.

Pat

I don't know, Nita, why you can't see all the buttons.  I'm sorry I can't help you.  Maybe someone else will be able to help.

Matt, I was staying with a friend's friend.  They lived on the north side of the same road the the Flat Iron Bldg is on the south side of.  And they were one block west of the Flat Iron Bldg.  I'm sorry I didn't get a photo of it.
