Morning Devotional...

If a man love Me, he will keep My words.
John 14:23

I can of Mine own self do nothing.
John 5:30

Our Lord lived His life in total dependence on His Father. Such dependence is hard for the human mind to grasp and harder still to emulate.

Jesus Christ was the only One to fully live out this pattern.

But, as beloved children, we are to follow His example.

Major Ian Thomas writes of a rule called "the threefold interlock." "A life of faith is: our love for God, resulting in our dependence on God, resulting in obedience to God."

Love for Christ is the foremost motivation for willing obedience and through dependence we experience the source of power, and His grace transforms us.

More Love to Thee
(Click to hear music)

Author:  Elizabeth P. Prentiss, 1818-1878
Musician:  William H. Doane, 1832-1915

More love to Thee, O Christ,
More love to Thee!
Hear Thou the prayer I make
On bended knee;
This is my earnest plea:

Refrain:
More love, O Christ, to Thee,
More love to Thee,
More love to Thee!

Once earthly joy I craved,
Sought peace and rest;
Now Thee alone I seek,
Give what is best;
This all my prayer shall be:

Let sorrow do its work,
Send grief and pain;
Sweet are Thy messengers,
Sweet their refrain,
When they can sing with me:

Then shall my latest breath
Whisper Thy praise;
This be the parting cry
My heart shall raise;
This still its prayer shall be:

Soni, HAPPY 104th BIRTHDAY    :o   ;D   ;)   :)   :-*   :-X   ::)

104?  Did I miss something?   Soni, you're holding on pretty good.

John, great to see you pop in.  I agree with Pat......hurry and open a Lucas folder so we can watch him grow. :)

Wonderful devotionals and thoughts today.

I'm headed to bed, but wanted to come say good night first.

Mike.....Your vacation time with the other missionaries sounded like fun.........but I sure agree with you about home.  There's no place like home.....and no place like my own bed.   Bless you and your family for the work you're doing for our Lord.

Jane, are you back yet?  I couldn't remember when you were coming home.  That shocks you, huh?  Or maybe you didn't say.  Hope you had a good time with Dot and the girls.  Did you eat turkey?  :D

What a short night.  I got a bit earlier for church because I am manning the lights in the santuary today.  Then Jerry and I will be staying after church for a baptism.  I love baptisms...another one for God.

Have a great God Day!

Welcome TBear!

It is blowing snow here and we are trying to decide if we want to meet our daughter half-way to her house.  They forgot our granddaughter's winter coat and the temp is rather chilly.  25 degrees now.  I don't know - it is times like this that I wish we would have a cell phone.

Good Sunday morning to all.

Special Greetings to Jenny!!!!!  I was wondering if you have tasted turkey as I know it is very pricey in England.

Hello Skief!  It sounds like you had a good gathering of many friends.

Carol

I think that as a Christian that I am very fortunate to have a loving God to call upon. Does that mean that he is going to spoil us and give us our every whim? No, that does mean that he will always do what is best for us. They were times in my life that I blamed God for situations and predicaments that happened to me. I look back now and I realize that I was acting childish and acting spoiled. I will say that I will try to do better in the future, but I probably won’t. I am just glad that I have a loving and forgiving God who will patiently wait for me to finish my pity party and come to my senses and then he will forgive me.

Happy B-day Soni, May your next 104 be as goodas your last 104 was! ;D

Good Morning
How is everyone doing today? I love the Lord's day when I can got to my Father's house and worship Him in song and in prayer. I love the 2 prayer meetings that we have each Sunday. Where we gather together as a group and invite Jesus into our midst and pray all in one accord.

I got an email last night from a friend in Lucerne Valley where I used to live, and he told me that there was 17 inches of snow there last sunday and none of the churches had services. I don't think I ever saw that much snow at one time while I lived there. It is cold here this morning ice on my car windows that I will have to get off before I go to church.

I am thinking that I should get my Christmas decorations up before too much more time goes by. I don't do a lot but I do decorate a little bit.

Must go now.

Spiritual Warfare and Sin: Grace and Forgiveness

And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were
sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus
and by the Spirit of our God.
--1 Corinthians 6:11

I do not know all of the Savior's reasons for choosing the woman
at the well. I know that His revelation of Himself to her
constituted an everlasting rebuke to human self-righteousness. I
know that every smug woman who walks down the street in pride
and status ought to be ashamed of herself. I know that every
self-righteous man who looks into his mirror each morning to
shave what he believes to be an honest face ought to be ashamed
of himself....

Jesus was able to see potential in the woman at the well that we
could never have sensed. What a gracious thing for us that Jesus
Christ never thinks about what we have been! He always thinks
about what we are going to be. You and I are slaves to time and
space and records and reputations and publicity and the past-all
that we call the case history. Jesus Christ cares absolutely
nothing about anyone's moral case history. He forgives it and
starts from there as though the person had been born one minute
before.  Faith Beyond Reason, 103-104.

"Again I worship You today, great God, for Your matchless grace.
No matter what my past, thank You, thank You, thank You, that
'Jesus Christ cares absolutely nothing about anyone's moral case
history.' Amen."

I am sitting, resting, and watching figure skating.

Paul Wylie had Micharl W. Smith sing "Falling Rain" as he sKated.  It is wonderful to see Christians in entertainment pair up to testify for Christ in a secular environment.  Those two are among the best.

Just over in the glory land
(Click to hear music)

I've a home prepared where the saints abide
Just over in the glory land
And I long to be by my Saviour's side
Just over in the glory land

Just over in the glory land
I'll join the happy angel band
Just over in the glory land
Just over in the glory land
There with the mighty host I'll stand
Just over in the glory land

I am on my way to those mansions fair
Just over in the glory land
There to sing God's praises and his glory share
Just over in the glory land

Refrain

What a joyful thought that my Lord I'll see
Just over in the glory land
And with kindred saved, there forever be
Just over in the glory land

Refrain

With the blood washed throng I will shout and sing
Just over in the glory land
Glad hosannas to Christ, the Lord and King
Just over in the glory land

THIS IS FOR SONI...the "DASHING THROUGH THE SNOW" part!  HAHAHAHA!

Jingle Bells
(Click to hear music)

Dashing through the snow
In a one-horse open sleigh
Through the fields we go
Laughing all the way.
Bells on bob-tail ring
Making spirits bright
What fun it is to ride and sing
A sleighing song tonight.

cho: Jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way,
Oh what fun it is to ride
In a one-horse open sleigh, O
Jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way,
Oh what fun it is to ride
In a one-horse open sleigh.

A day or two ago
I thought I'd take a ride
And soon Miss Fanny Bright
Was seated by my side;
The horse was lean and lank
Misfortune seemed his lot,
We ran into a drifted bank
And there we got upsot.

A day or two ago
The story I must tell
I went out on the snow
And on my back I fell;
A gent was riding by
In a one-horse open sleigh
He laughed at me as
I there sprawling laid
But quickly drove away.

Now the ground is white,
Go it while you're young,
Take the girls along
And sing this sleighing song.
Just bet a bob-tailed bay,
Two-forty as his speed,
Hitch him to an open sleigh
and crack! You'll take the lead.

Hi everyone.  Am sitting here in my easy chair watching the Atlanta Falcons play the New Orleans Saints in pro football.  Right now Atlanta is behind.

We had the most glorious day here today as it has been sunny and the air so clear.  We had a fine worship service this morning and then went out with 3 other couples to our favorite Bar-B-Que place for a very delicious lunch.  It was about 2:30 when we got home and then I decided I needed a little nap.

Sonja, that is just too much snow.  Please don't send it this way.  I am sure the snow out west has made travel difficult for many people today as they try to get home from the holiday weekend.

Our son and his wife went to the Orlando, Florida area to spend a week at their time share.  This is there third year and he really looks forward to the week.  Our daughter-in-law wasn't too excited about going this year as a few weeks ago she got a new Pomeranian puppy and hated to leave it.  She is hoping they can come home a couple of days early but don't think my son favored that idea.

Nards and Karma, sure glad to see you have your phone line fixed and hope the computer is also fixed.

Tbear, glad to read you are enjoying spending time with us here on CP.  It doesn't take long until we all become very good cyber firiends.

Carol, my wife and I each have a prepaid cell phone.  I usually carry mine in the car in case of emergencies and usually don't keep it on.  I feel it is worth the cost in the event I am out and become ill or have car trouble.  I found the prepaid was about 1/3 the cost of having the full time service, especially since we don't use it that much.

Hope everyone has a nice evening.

Etta Sue

The one for today IS my own creation with PSP.  But, sorry to say, I can't take credit for all my animations and graphics.  Glad you enjoy it.

Church was awesome and lunch was awesome.  When we got to Jerry's, I took a nap starting out with his resident Pretty Girl cat sleeping ON me.  Pretty Girl would have a great home if she would just remember to use the litter box ALL THE TIME!  She is such a loving kitty...nothing like my two touch-me-nots!!!  Ali is crying for the faucet to be turned on so I had better do that.

Will be back later to start a new place for ya'll!!!
