Morning Devotional...

The unsearchable riches of Christ.
Ephesians 3:8

No human mind can fully comprehend the dimensions--the breadth, and length, and depth, and height of "the unsearchable riches of Christ."

We can't comprehend or repay those riches, but we can claim and appreciate them through faith and worship.

As we gather today at His Supper, may His Person be magnified by His Spirit in our hearts, that they might overflow in worship pleasing to the Father.
--Milton Haack

O that the world might taste and see
the riches of His grace;
The arms of love that compass me,
would all mankind embrace.
His only righteousness I show--
His saving truth proclaim:
'Tis all my business here below,
to cry, "Behold the Lamb!"

There are so many things I can't comprehend. You would think that the bible would be easier to read but it is the most complex book ever, for me that is.

I have had so much trouble with my Christmas tree lights.  Not sure why they keep blowing a fuse.

I am headed to bed.  Night folks.

Hi Jane!

Hey, Everyone!  There isn't much time left to show us your photos for the two challenges.  I've added some in the Thanksgiving Challenge and might add some tomorrow for the other one.

Spiritual Warfare and Sin: The Cleansed Conscience

Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having
our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed
with pure water.
--Hebrews 10:22

What a relief to find the writer to the Hebrews encouraging us to
"draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith,
having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience"
(Hebrews 10:22).

A sprinkled conscience-surely this is a gracious thing for men and
women in the world to know!

One of the most relieving, enriching, wholesome, wondrous things we
can know is that sudden sense of the lifting of the burden as the
conscience goes free-God giving freedom to that conscience which
has been evil, diseased and protesting.

Peter wrote about this and called it "the pledge of a good
conscience toward God. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus
Christ" (1 Peter 3:21).

This is the kind of conversion I believe in-when your sins are
cleansed and forgiven through the blood of the Lamb, you will know
it!...

A transaction has taken place within the human spirit. The heart
suddenly knows itself clean and the burden lifts from the mind and
there is a true sense that heaven is pleased and God is smiling and
the sins are gone.

A transaction within the human spirit-that is the kind of
forgiveness I believe in!  Echoes from Eden, 65-66.

"Lord, I'm overwhelmed this morning with this 'sense that heaven
is pleased and God is smiling and the sins are gone.' I fall on my
face before You in heartfelt worship. Amen."

Lord Jesus,

I pray for all the "little birds" that come here today.  That they may rest under Your branches. (see  Psalm 91:4)

Al Moak

Good to see everyone posting this AM.  In just a few moments I have to start getting ready to go up the street here to our church.  I'm preaching today on Jesus' cleansing of the temple - a very different view of Jesus than we usually contemplate.  If you think of it, pray for me and pray for all of us to hear this Word from the heart and conscience.

Sonifo

Awww!
How sweet to come here and see all this.
Thank you all

Hi everyone.  We are about ready to leave for Sunday School and Church but wanted to at least say hi.  I didn't get a posting done yesterday but did ready all of the postings.  There was a lot of richness in the postings yesterday and Jenny, your last posting yesterday was right on as I felt I had heard a sermon when I read it.

Happy Birthday, Sonja.

Al, I am praying for you as you preach this morning.  We have a guest minister again this morning, actually he is the father of our youth minsiter, and is the retired professor of preaching (there are some bigger words for it but can't remember what they are) at Columbia Seminary.  He is really a fine preacher and a fine man.

There was a little article in the paper this morning on our local Methodist church that has a mail box on their property where people can drive by and leave prayer requests.

Etta Sue, I know you are probably not too lonely as you have Ali and can converse with Jerry as well.  I expect you know most of the people in the town where you live as well.  However, I understand what you are saying about not having your close relatives close by for a few days.

Time to go so will stop for now.

Ria, I can understand job difficulties. Believe me, when my 60th birthday came and went, then I felt a bit safer, for there is no income security here in the States - if no work, then no pay.

But, as a widow, I could have applied for my husband's pension beginning at age 60 (however, at a greatly reduced rate, since my correct retirement age will be 65 yr, 6 months.

I'm continuing to work because I need medical coverage - I have several medical conditions that require monitoring and medication. So, although I'm beginning to feel the years, it's much more appropriate to work than to retire at this time.

Like Marilyn, I don't know why I said all that.  ???

No, Pat, there's a driver that I can't get until I come up with a CD with my operating system. Mine is an OEM version and that driver didn't come with it. I'm hoping a friend can help me to finish the process to get hooked up to the faster network.

Y'all have a good day. I need to prepare for worship.

Good Morning

Happy Birthday Sonja

I had a wonderful day yesterday, visiting with my girlfriend over dinner.  It made me realize how little I do that, and how much it means.

Today, I must visit a funeral home for the father of a co-worker.  I am really not looking forward to this but will do what I must.

I hope everyone has a great day.

Marilyn

Good Morning. Thank you  Pat and Chris for the devotionals this morning.

I am running behind this morning, stayed in bed an extra half hour so now I have to finish getting ready for church.

There are several members of my pastors family that are very sick with the flu, his sisters family and his uncles family. Some have been hospitalized and some havent'. Please remember them in your prayers today.

Must run/walk now and finish my hair.

Etta Sue I really enjoy these comments you put below your post.  :)

Papa John Thank you so much for your comments on my post yesterday.  You got to the meat of the thing in such a great way.  :)

Lee I thank you for clearing up what you meant in the post.  I admit I was a bit confused. ??? ???

Hello everyone I have enjoyed reading the post this glorious day.  :)

I have been reading Oswald Chambers, "My Utmost for His Highest"  for over 10 years.  I always manage to come away from these readings refreshed, with a better understanding of just why God sent Jesus to us.

Yes it is true, Jesus came to give us more than a one way ticket to Heaven and Eternity.

I must quote a portion of today's reading from the book.

"The way we continually talk about our own inability is an insult to the Creator.  The deploring of our own incompetence is a slander against God for having overlooked us.  Get into the habit of  examining in the sight of God the things that sound humble before men, and you will be amazed at how staggeringly impertinent they are."

"Oh, I shouldn't like to say I am sanctified; I'm not a saint."

"Say that before God; and it means—"No, Lord, it is impossible for You to save and sanctify me; there are chances I have not had; so many imperfections in my brain and body; no, Lord it isn't possible."
"That may sound wonderfully humble before men, but before God it is an attitude of defiance."

The lesson from this, for me, is to be humble before God, and not worry about being humble before men.  Being humble before God, means getting on your knees.

I read one time, that we tend to think that God's gifts are on a shelf, one above the other; so the taller we grow in Christian character, the more easily we can reach them.   The truth of the matter is, God's gifts are on shelves, one beneath the other.  It is not a question of growing taller, but of stooping lower.  The more time on your knees the closer you are to God's guidance and His blessings.

Getting the personal relationship with the Lord and keeping it (by spending time on your knees) is all that matters.  In this position God will fulfill His purpose through your life.

Rescue The Perishing.  (A fine song by Fannie Crosby)

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your understanding; In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths.

Boots, I read that Oswald Chambers devotional twice this morning and felt it was so profound.  I thought as I read it that it was something that should be shared here but didn't have time this morning.  Thanks for posting that portion of the reading.  Not having the book "Utmost for the Highest" does not prevent any of us from readings these devotionals as there is a website where you can find the readings daily.  Here is the link: Oswald Chamber's "Utmost for the Highest".
