Morning Devotional...From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the Lord's name is to be praised.Psalm 113:3
As the sun, from our perspective, dips below the horizon, we lay our praise aside and go to sleep. But our sunset is other Christians' sunrise and they take up the praising of the Lord's name.
In fact the sun never sets, and God's people form an endless overlapping chorus to our Saviour.
If you want to sing your part today, the Psalms provide wonderful lyrics for your songs of praise.
--J. B. N., Jr.
When earth has reached its final groan,
The sea its last, long sigh,
Then everything as one shall sing
His praise eternally.

Musician: Thomas Turton, 1780-1864
1 PRAISE ye the Lord: who serve the Lord,
O praise, the Lord's name praise.
2 The Lord's name, blessed let it be
From this time forth always.
3 From rising sun to where he sets
The Lord's name's to be praised.
4 'Bove nations all the Lord is high,
'Bove heavens his glory raised.
5 Unto the Lord our God that dwells
On high, who can compare?
6 Himself that humbleth things to see
In heaven and earth that are.
7 He lifts the helpless from the dust,
The poor from low estate;
8 That he may him with princes set,
His people's princes great.
9 The barren woman house to keep
He maketh, and to be
Of sons a mother full of joy.
Praise to the Lord give ye.
Wooohooo! My oldest son just won 2 tickets to a concert here in town by calling the radio station (Crosswind). He will be taking his brother. There will be 3 bands playing. Oh ya!!! Praise God!!!
Chandraya will be singing at church tomorrow. She is excited. I am bringing my camera so I can share with you all later. ;D
I got some really great pictures tonight. I will share them tomorrow in the photography area.
Welp! I am heading to bed. Night folks!
Have a good day at church tomorrow.
Good morning/night/evening, whatever it is wherever you are. :P
The devotional reminded me of an illustration I heard one time. So many times, we try to do "things" (good things, even, in service for God, for example), but we come upon a wall and can't seem to get past it. Inevitably, we get frustrated, and wonder if we heard correctly. What we forget is that God can see on the other side of the wall, so we have to look to HIM.
<----------------- I have a profile pic, see. And it really is me!
Oohh KARMA ! What a wonderful, beautiful picture ... and person ;) ... I say it was worth the wait! :P
I have been on and off line all day and evening, so this is just another fly by.... It has been raining off and on all day here on the Oregon Coast, but I did manage to get out long enough to take the bulletins over to the church so they'll be there in the morning when everyone arrives. I love doing them and I feel it is just one more thing I can do for the Lord to fulfill my purpose here.
I need to cruise the other forums for a while and then get to bed ... See y'all later... Have an awesome Lord's Day and don't ever forget that I love each and every one of you!

7.45 a.m. England.
Hello Dear Brothers and Sisters from a very cold but sunny England.
Today is Remembrance Sunday for us when we remember all the fallen Service men and women who died for their country. The One Minute's Silence will take place at 11 a.m. today and again on Tuesday the 11th November. The 11th day of the 11th Month! There will be a March Past the Cenotaph in London, England., Dignitaries from all over the Commonwealth will take part and place their Poppy Wreathes on the steps of the Cenotaph. I shall watch this on television.
The Archbishop of Canterbury and representatives of other religions will take part also.
I downloaded the Windows XP Update from Microsoft yesterday, it took 5 hours to complete. I kept getting cut off by Virgin.I also used "Clean-up Wizard" to clean out the files and compress them etc.,
I actually left the "puter" to itself for a while to pop over to the park to see Sidney., On the way I met dear old Tom walking his sweet little doggie. He told me it was his 83rd birthday. Well by the time we had talked I was late for Sidney so I stuck a stamp on a "cheer-up" card I had for him and popped it into the pillar box in the Old Village. There is a collection on Sundays. There was an icy cold wind blowing and I thought of our Pat, always warning me to "be careful".......I "scooted" home as fast as possible and en route I saw Tom and his dog again., another little chat. Back home I came then, across a very busy road ...I had to call on the Name of Jesus to get across safely. Then I found a spare Birthday Card and wrote a few words to Tom...then back across "that road" to pop it in his door. Whew! I was worn out and frozen.....I administered first aid to myself with a nice cup of tea!(No Lee, not coffee but you can take me for a meal I did spot your offer!)
Gosh that "Update" has certainly helped and has speeded my "puter" up!
Karma You are a very pretty girl and what a lovely head of hair..."crowning glory".
This day will be one of retrospectionand sadness for me in many ways. I shall pray for you all, especially Pat and all who grieve.
The Lord Bless and keep you,
Love Jenny.
Well, mornin all,
Saw some lovely black clouds last night, >:( no eclipse!
But the clouds are just in the sky :D,, not in my life :) :D
Off to worship, bless you all.
PS. who is the film star that Karmat has pasted into her post?????
Good morning all 11.15 AM
Pat thank you for the devotional and psalm 113.
I have not been to the church i have pain in my head.
Yesterday we have had a nice afternoon and evening.
I also have seen this night the eclipse of the moon
but now i am sleepy.
My father is just coming
I wandered in the shades of night
Till Jesus came to me
And with the sunlight of his love
Bid all my darkness flee.

I WISH YOU ALL A BLESSED SUNDAY

Prayers for Fellow Prisoners.
Dietrich Bonhoeffer
Early in the morning do I cry unto Thee.
Help me to pray and to think only of Thee.
In me there is darkness,
But with Thee there is light.
I am lonely but Thou leavest me not.
I am feeble in heart, but Thou leavest me not.
I am restless, but with Thee there is peace.
In me there is bitterness, but with Thee there is patience;
Thy ways are past understanding,
But Thou knowest the way for me.
O heavenly Father,I praise and thank Thee
For the peace of the night.
I praise and thank Thee for this new day.
I praise and thank Thee for all Thy goodness
and faithfulness throughout my life.
Thou hast granted me many blessings:
Now let me accept tribulation from Thy hand.

Lest We Forget
Good Sunday Morning everyone:
Karma - I'm looking forward to seeing your llittle son's picture.
That is a lovely one of you! You and Sonja must be around the same age...yes?
Is it a Christian group that your son is going to? Of course I have never heard of that group.
Well, time to get ready for church... Must have my coffee first though!...lol
- Judy M.
What a great surprise to see Karma's picture first thing. Now, all of you know that she IS beautiful outside as well as inside.
I forgot about the eclipse. :'( :-\ :'( :-[ :-\ :'(
I am on my way to get Jerry and then to church in just a few minutes. I told him I was leaving here at 7:55 a.m....easier to remember. Today is Ministry Sunday...tables will be set up so the congregation will know what ministries are available and what function they do in the church. This will be interesting. Hope we get some new people for the Audio/Visual Team...we do need help lots of times. I did remember to make a form for people to request audio tapes so we can duplicate them for them.
I have no idea what the rest of the day will be. Ooops! I see the word 'rest' in the sentence above. Hmmmm. That's an idea!

Just a quick hello for everybody....
Don't I have the beautifullest wife??? ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Yes, you do, Nards! And my grandma used to say "pretty is as pretty does."
Well, she does good things, too!
You're both blessed with each other and with your family.
And you bless our lives by being here.
Jenny, first time I was in England was on November 1 in 1984. How well I remember Remembrance Sunday. And, how well I remember all our thanksgiving that the war was over. My love and appreciation to all our veterans who have put themselves in harms way to ensure our freedoms.
Ruth Ann
Oh, Nards! You sure do have the most beautifullest wife!!! And we all love her so you can't keep her to yourself either!
Good Morning. It is wonderful to see Karma's profile photo.
I had a problem with my ISP the computer told me it was corrupted, so I tried to download the fix and it didn't work so I unistalled it, Then I had to install aol from a cd I happened to have to get on the internet so I could get to my ISP to download again. Then uninstall AOL. What a morning, Still had plenty of time to get ready for church,.
The rain has stopped for the time being, Maybe I will be able to get out to Blue Lake to get the car window put up and the plastic off.
Pat Thank you for the devotional, I love anything about the Psalms. So I will Praise Him wholeheartedly throughout the days of my life here on earth and more when I go home to Him.

JESUS FILLS ME WITH AWE
I have been reading Pastor Al's latest post on Mark's Gospel. Another good read brethren, fully recommended.
It is pouring with rain here this evening and very cold. A time to praise God and look forward in hope.
Marilyn I join with you." Praise the Lord, let all that is within me praise His Holy Name"
I watched the Cenotaph Service this morning and I thought of our boys now laying down their lives in Iraq and other war torn areas. "How long oh Lord, How long?"
May the Lord Bless and keep you all this night,
In His love,
Jenny..
Remembrance Sunday
"And soul by soul and silently her shining bounds increase,
And her ways are ways of gentleness, and all her paths are peace."
What a difference are the words, above, compared to the noise and brutality of war.
The Kingdom of our dear God increases so silently and steadily, no one can stand against the Church, the Body of Christ!
Neither angels, nor men, nor satan himself can defy Him Who builds His Church, yes we fight against sin and the world, but we will ALWAYS win, for He goes before us, and gives strength for the battle!
May God bless those Christians who gave their lives for our freedom.

We had a lovely Remembrance service at church this morning. The pastor called the children to the front to see if they knew why Pastor Tim was wearing a flower on his jacket". I was surprised; only one child knew....maybe others knew, but were too shy to say.
Church was too long though...2 hours....I was starting to nod off!
I have a funeral home visitation to go to. A doctor friend passed away., I am friends with his wife. Neither of them kne/know the Lord., so its always sad., and I'm never sure what to say at times like this.
I see that I am about to pass the 500 post mark!!.. Shouldn't there be a celebration of some sort??

HIP HIP HOORAY!!! HIP HIP HOORAY!! HIP HIP HOORAY!!! FOR JUDY MC. THE MAESTRO!! ;D ;D ;D
I hope lots of you who were "in the clear" last night got great photos of the lunar eclipse. All we could see was........nothing! Totally overcast skies here.
Karma, I LOVE your photo! Why have you been hiding that beautiful face from us??? Huh???
We went to church, now I'm switching my attention between TBN, the Chiefs game and CP! Whew! Maybe I should give up and take a nap!?!?!
Sonja: What fun for your son to get free tickets to a concert.
Janet: We were late but did see some of the eclipse.
Judy: Congrats on 500 posts.
Etta Sue: I lost all of my information on Paint Shop Pro and would like to print out some beginning instructions - could you send the site to my e-mail, please and thank you.
karmat: Wonderful picture!
Carol
If you all will look in Photos I have invited y-all to go to church with me.
I hope you enjoy your visit on this Lord's day.

Congratulations, JudyMc!!!! You are now a Maestro!!!!
Carol ~ I think this was what you were asking...
http://www.jasc.com/ (http://www.jasc.com/) Were you signed up for the Holiday classes? Was that what you wanted? The site above has tutorials, also.
Church was so uplifting. All the tables were set about in the main hallway with pamphlets and such to tell about their ministry...everything from Greeters to Property Caretakers. I commented today that since 'The 40 Days of Purpose' has started, it seems that there are more smiling faces and they also tend to hang around after services to visit more. This is great!!!
I came home after taking Jerry home. I did some things on PSP for the Audio/Visual Team. Then I made an animated Spikey on PSP. I have his whole body moving instead of just his face but that is okay, I guess. Now in an hour I am leaving with Ivalou and some friends to go to a small church south of me. 'The Shepherds' are singing. My nephew is one of the singers out of 4. They have been together for years and have stayed together even since two of them attend a different church. That is friendship.
Did anyone get the eclipse on camera? I didn't but Tony just sent a picture of the eclipse to me!!!
So I gotta go!!!!
Lets just praise the Lord
Lets just praaise the Lord,
Lets just lift our hands t'ward heaven
and praise the Lord.
We had a really good day at church, and later. Our college and carreer group took the service, complete with drums , guitar, keyboard, and piano. They were awesome. One young man did a Rap song. It was awesome the message was so good. We had the words on the overhead. even the elder population of the church enjoyed the rendition. One of the young men whom I call my 'nother son, gave the message. He spoke about the mountain top experiences, and how we need the valleys to learn the lessons God wants to eeach us. Wow he breathed a sigh of relief when done, but I know we will hear from him again.
Got to run, will be back and tell you more later.
Love JudyB
Hi everyone. I see it has been relatively quiet here today. This was our first day at our church with our revised schedule. Rather than leave for Sunday School at 9:30 we can now leave at 10. However, church is now getting out at least 15 minutes or so later than before. A group of 13 went to a restruant for lunch and had to wait for about 35 to 45 minutes. They had plenty of tables but were short of servers. It was after 3 pm when we got home and both Pat and I laid down for a nap.
Our minister gave a fine sermon this morning entitled "Whatever happened to childhood" based on Malachi 4:5-6 and Ephesians 6:1-4:
QuoteMalachi 4:5-6
Lo, I will send you the prophet Elijah before the great and terrible day of the LORD comes. He will turn the hearts of parents to their children and the hearts of children to their parents, so that I will not come and strike the land with a curse.
Ephesians 6:1-4
Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. "Hone or your father and mother"--this is the first commandment with a promise: "so that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth"
And fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
Apparently there are many families where the children no longer even eat a meal a week with their parents. I thought it was a very good sermon and I had to think of the parents with small children represented here on CP where I read of the loving times spent together and the focus on family life and how fortunate your children are to have such parents.
We sang a hymn I had never heard before called "Happy the Home When God Is There". Here are the lyrics:
QuoteHappy the home when God is there
And love filles everyone one,
When with united work and prayer
The master's will is done.
Happy the home where God's strong love
Is starting to appear.
Where all the children hear His fame
And parents hold HIm dear.
Happy the home where prayer is heard
And paise is everywhere,
Where parents love the sacred Word
And its tru wisdom share.
Lord, let us in our homes agree
This blessed peace to gain;
Unite our hearts in love to Thee,
And love to all will reign.
We also recognized our veterans and then had their families stand to be recognized as well at the beginning of our service this morning.
Karmat, glad to finally see your picture alongside your postings. It is so helpful to have a face to go with the name.
Judy, congrats on your new status as maestro! Was the 2 hours all one service this morning?
Jenny, I am sure your friend appreciated your special efforts to get the card to him. Your road crossing sounds very frightening. Is there a light where you have to cross?
Memorandum
From: GOD
To: My Children
Effective immediately, please be aware that there are changes YOU need
to make in YOUR life. These changes need to be completed in order that I
may fulfill My promises to you to grant you peace, joy and happiness in
this life.
I apologize for any inconvenience, but after all that I am doing, this
seems very little to ask of you. I know, I already gave you the 10
Commandments. Keep them. But follow these guidelines, also.
1. QUIT WORRYING
Life has dealt you a blow and all you do is sit and worry. Have you
forgotten that I am here to take all your burdens and carry them for
you? Or do you just enjoy fretting over every little thing that comes
your way?
2. PUT IT ON THE LIST
Something needs done or taken care of. Put it on the list. No, not YOUR
list. Put it on MY to-do-list. Let ME be the one to take care of the
problem. I can't help you until you turn it over to Me. And although My
to-do-list is long, I am after all... God. I can take care of anything
you put into My hands. In
fact, if the truth were ever really known, I take care of a lot of
things for you that you never even realize.
3. TRUST ME
Once you've given your burdens to Me, quit trying to take them back.
Trust in Me. Have the faith that I will take care of all your needs,
your problems and your trials. Problems with the kids? Put them on My
list. Problem with finances? Put it on My list. Problems with your
emotional roller coaster? For My sake, put it on My list. I want to help
you. All you have to do is ask.
4. LEAVE IT ALONE
Don't wake up one morning and say, "Well, I'm feeling much stronger now,
I think I can handle it from here." Why do you think you are feeling
stronger now? It's simple. You gave Me your burdens and I'm taking care
of them. I also renew your strength and cover you in my peace. Don't you
know that if I give you these problems back, you will be right back
where you started? Leave them with Me and forget about them. Just let Me
do my job.
5. TALK TO ME
I want you to forget a lot of things. Forget what was making you crazy.
Forget the worry and the fretting because you know I'm in control. But
there's one thing I pray you never forget. Please, don't forget to talk
to Me - OFTEN! I love YOU! I want to hear your voice. I want you to
include Me in on the things going on in your life. I want to hear you
talk about your friends and family. Prayer is simply you having a
conversation with Me. I want to be your dearest friend.
6. HAVE FAITH
I see a lot of things from up here that you can't see from where you
are. Have faith in Me that I know what I'm doing. Trust Me; you wouldn't
want the view from My eyes. I will continue to care for you, watch over
you, and meet your needs. You only have to trust Me. Although I have a
much bigger task than you, it seems as if you have so much trouble just
doing your simple part. How hard can trust be?
7. SHARE
You were taught to share when you were only two years old. When did you
forget? That rule still applies. Share with those who are less fortunate
than you. Share your joy with those who need encouragement. Share your
laughter with those who haven't heard any in such a long time. Share
your tears with those who have forgotten how to cry. Share your faith
with those who have none.
8. BE PATIENT
I managed to fix it so in just one lifetime you could have so many
diverse experiences. You grow from a child to an adult, have children,
change jobs many times, learn many trades, travel to so many places,
meet thousands of people, and experience so much. How can you be so
impatient then when it takes Me a little longer than you expect to
handle something on My to-do-list? Trust in My timing, for My timing is
perfect. Just because I created the entire universe in only six days,
everyone thinks I should always rush, rush, rush.
9. BE KIND
Be kind to others, for I love them just as much as I love you. They may
not dress like you, or talk like you, or live the same way you do, but I
still love you all. Please try to get along, for My sake. I created each
of you different in some way. It would be too boring if you were all
identical. Please, know I love each of your differences.
10. LOVE YOURSELF
As much as I love you, how can you not love yourself? You were created
by me for one reason only -- to be loved, and to love in return. I am a
God of Love. Love Me. Love your neighbors. But also love yourself. It
makes My heart ache when I see you so angry with yourself when things go
wrong. You are very precious to me. Don't ever forget that!
With all My heart ...I love YOU!
God
Amen and amen!
Thanks, MARILYN! All I can say to the above message is a heartfelt "AMEN" How true, how true ... if we could only "get it straight" for His sake!
I heard all the whistling, laughing and yelling congratulations as soon as I came online. I figured it was you guys....so came right to CP to see Judy doing the Maestro Dance. haha Did you know you were making so much noise? I could hear you all the way over in Ebay!
I was looking for the price of Photoshop. I found it. I don't need to look again. ::)
Church was very good this morning........then Jane and I met after and had church again for an hour or so.....at Fred Meyers...over coffee. And the Lord was there. :) I was blessed, Jane. I'm so glad we did this. Thank you.
Marilyn, that was so good. Thanks for posting it.
Nita ... Yes, the Lord was there ... right in Fred Meyer's deli with us drinking coffee out of paper cups! ::) ;) ;D I love Him so much. I am always, usually, often totally amazed and in awe of the way He works in us.
We sang a song at the nursing home the other day that has the phrase in the chorus: "Why He should care for me will always be a mystery. He holds the whole world in His hands, but who am I?" That's how I feel. :-\
[Note to Pat: That's an Ira Stanphil song titled "The King and I" in case you want to look for it. :P]
Hello to All
This has been a wonderful day of worship in our neck of the woods. I can tell by the posts that all the others here also had good worship services. :) :)
Marilyn That is really a good view and description of your Church. I am very sure you all have wonderful fellowship there. :)
I do not take pictures, hardly know which end of the camera to point, I do have a way for you to see our Church if you are interested.
We have a half hour National Broadcast (mostly of the sermon as our regular service is one hour in length) on the following places.
9:00 AM Sunday on Inspriation Network (INSP)
3:30 PM Sunday on Daystar Network
6:00 PM Sunday on Family Net
10:30 AM Tuesday Christian Television Network (CTN)
These are all recorded from our Sunday morning service.
I would be pleased if anyone has access to the above Broadcasts, and would take the time to visit our Church. :) :)
Oh yes our Church is called. Green Acres Baptist Church
Have a good evening
Boots
Thank you, thank you, thank you , (Judy takes a bow)., Actually., just what does that mean... becomin a Maestro?
Yes, Larry - 2 hours - that was all one service. Please don't think I'm complaining... I can sit in a theatre for 2 hours., the least I can do is sit "in God's house" for 2 hours, isn't it.
Marilyn - that was an excellent post., I'd like to copy it.
My neighbour directly behind me phoned to see if I like apple pie., she made 2 and wanted to give us one. It was right out of the oven, so we enjoyed it tonight with ice cream.
Its always interesting to read your posts describing what your Sunday services were like., I don't think I would enjoy Judy 's though....the rap singing I mean. I just can't see how thats honouring to the Lord.
Tomorrow is election day here in Ontario. I am praying that the right person will be elected as Mayor for our city. Sometimes the council here leaves a lot to be desired. I'd like to see the day when Christians would run for politics. Does anyone else feel the same? I'd like your opinions.....thanks., Judy Mc.
I haven't seen if anyone has figured out Lee's hymn.........Any more clues Lee?
I am home now. I posted the last post at Doug's.
I was talking to a wise lady today. Carol Schantz is a grandma figure to my girls. I told her that Melaura is sick AGAIN (puking and fever). She said something very interesting. "God is trying to teach Melaura a lesson. He will continue to allow her to be sick till she learns the lesson, and that God will not let her suffer more than she can handle. She said that we were to thank God for the sickness, and allow God to change what needs to be changed."
I found this to be interesting, because Melaura heard the call of God on her life just over a year ago. She has had continuous sickness for the past year. So lets see how things go for the next little while as we praise God for the illnesses. The Word says that we are to be thankful in all things. There is a specific verse to this effect but I have been unable to find it.
So begins a new chapter in Melaura's life. One of being thankful for adversity. I wonder what God is teaching both of us?
Have to go, John has become very deep tonight and needs a good listening ear.
Bye for now.
Love JudyB
Hmmm., giving God thanks for Melaura's illness?? I'll see what comments the others have about that. I couldn't thank God for my child's illness.!!
Sorry, Judy... My take on this? Get Melaura to a doctor and if the family doctor doesn't help insist on seeing a specialist and get to the bottom of her illness.
This isn't something to fool with. Thirteen year olds are not sick for a year without a reason. I lived with Ian being sick for the better part of 5 years and I'm so glad that he was under the doctor's care for all of that time.
Judy, I don't know your friend, but I feel she is WAY off track here, in advising you and Melaura to praise God FOR her illness!!! God is NOT the author of sickness!! That comes from the devil! He is the one who comes to steal, kill and destroy! Please don't thank God for what the enemy sends!
Also, God NEVER uses illness to teach us things! He only teaches and chastises through His word. He is a loving father, and His will is ALWAYS for us to prosper and be in health, even as our souls prosper.
I really feel bad that Melaura may be receiving wrong teachings about God. He loves us so much. He is her Father---no way would He want her to be sick.
The verse says IN everything give thanks---not FOR everything! Please reconsider..............
In the Love of Jesus,
Janet

Judy DO NOT listen to that woman. None of that is
scriptural. That part about God not giving her more than she can handle. Is balogne. 1 Corinthians 10:13 does not say that. It says "No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful who will not allow you to be
TEMPTED beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, that you may be able to endure it"
God does NOT make us sick to teach us a lesson. What does the Bible say about false teachers.? Tell Melaura that is not true what that woman said.
Thanks for the devotional Pat. I am a little late in getting here and had lots to read.
Congrats. Judy M. on becoming a member of the 500 Club. What does that mean???
Judy B., I agree with what the others have said. God doesn't work that way. Will pray for you daughter and hope you get a doctor who will find out the reason for her illness. LOL
We had a great Sunday School and Church service today. Our pastor is teaching the S.S. class and it is on 'The Renovation of The Heart.' All about how every choice we make is so important and how 'Choice is where sin dwells.'
There was also a moment of silence in our church this morning. Believe most Canadian faiths practise this to remember the war dead. Tragic that wars never stop.
The service was on Phil. 2:1-11, 'New Attitude, Serving God's People.' I quite like our new pastor. He is an intelligent teacher and has a good sense of humor.
I am concerned about getting to church when I move as the bus service will get me there too late for the S.S. and church service. Will have to hope there is some kind person in the area who will give me a ride to church. Can get home okay. Wish my daughter and family would go....or even back to their own church. Leaving that in God's hands and trust prayers will be answered. I absolutely will not interfere in their lives and that includes church matters.
Missed out on most of the eclipse as forgot to check. Could see clearly from my window and caught part of the show. Quite amazing!
God Bless and Pleasant Dreams all...
I just had to stop in and read today's posts.
We had 2 great services and childrens'/youths' choir practice.
Off to bed.
I love you all..May God bless each one of you :) :)

100% agreement. As a parent, I have a legal and moral responsibility to make sure my child's health is in the hands of professionals. God may indeed teach us lessons while we are sick, but I do not believe he sends illness for that purpose. Let a doctor make the necessary health care decisions, and then pray that they aren't necessary. To sit around and thank God that a child is ill would be very unwise.
If I were to believe the way that Mom believes on this subject, I would say that Mel is sick because of something she did wrong in her life......but I don't believe that either. If there is one thing that I have learned in the last several months, with doing the amount of soul searching, and praying that I have been doing it is that God is a God of Love, and doesn't purposely do things to hurt His children.
I know Grandma Shantz, and even I think that she is way off here. Get her into a doctor, and if her doctor doesn't know what is wrong, then insist on a specialist....I love her way to much to see her as sick as she has been, and it hurts me to think that you are going to thank God for something that isn't even His doing.
Love you both,
Heather
I believe we can learn through sickness, but the lesson is to lean more completely on Christ. Judy, I know this woman may be very wise, and yes, God may be teaching Melaura something, BUT being as sick as you say she has been is serious. Is she the one training for a biathlon? If so, she needs to see a dr., preferably one specializing in sports medicine, immediately.
I did a triathlon several years ago, and if the body is not up to snuff before you begin training, the physical exertion can literally tear you apart. A common cold will take a lot longer to "heal' because the body is tore down from training and simply does not have the reserve to fight it. Once the reserve is built up by training, she will heal faster, but until then, she needs to be paying attention to what her body is telling her. Fever means infection, of some kind, and infection is not good. I don't doubt that Melaura can come out of this stronger, but God lets us have doctors for a reason.
Hang in there!!
Hi there Karma! You staying up late tonight? I'm ready to head for my pillow! We just watched the movie about Elizabeth Smart. Such a sad story, but glad she got to come home........finally........and no thanks to the police!
Anything further on little Cecelia, Pat?
Time to close the door on yet another Lord's Day.
What are your plans for the week ahead? I hope to go to the Cenataph in Guelph on Remembrance Day.
