Morning Devotional...

Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew Him not.
1 John 3:1

The young believer revels in this--I was a lost sinner, at enmity with God, and now I am called a son of God, a child in God's family.

Here is marvellous love indeed "that brings a poor, vile sinner into His house of wine."

It, however, is not only for the young, because the more we mature in the things of the Lord, the more we marvel at the wonders of His love.

No matter how old we are in the faith, may we never look on His love in any lesser degree.
                                                                  --Reg. L. Jordan

Behold, What Love! (http://christianphotographers.com/sounds/beholdwhatlove.mpga)
(Click to hear music)

Author:  Robert Boswell, 19th Century
Musician:  James McGranahan, 1840-1907

Behold, what love, what boundless love,
The Father hath bestowed
On sinners lost, that we should be
Now called "the sons of God!"

Refrain
Behold, what manner of love!
What manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us,
That we, that we should be called,
Should be called the sons of God!

No longer far from Him but now
By "precious blood" made nigh,
Accepted in the "Well beloved,"
Near to God's heart we lie.

Refrain

What we in glory soon shall be,
It doth not yet appear;
But when our precious Lord we see,
We shall His image bear.

Refrain

With such a blessèd hope in view,
We would more holy be,
More like our risen, glorious Lord,
Whose face we soon shall see.

Refrain

Rachelle -- If we were never needy, we would oftentimes not know how wonderful our brothers and sisters in Christ are!!!

I read an awesome book tonight.  It was called "The Dream Giver" and it is by the same person that wrote "The Prayer of Jabez,"  Bruce Wilkinson.  If you feel that there is "something" you are supposed to do, or something that you have always wanted to do, YOU NEED TO READ THIS BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!  I am not joking.  I was in tears, adn that was just the preface :-\.  It helped me to see that God wants me to be a "Somebody" not just a "Nobody" and He will help me get there!!!!

Click this link and go here --  NOW

What are you waiting for?

Why are you still reading this??

It is NEVER too late to pursue your dreams.  GO!!

karmat~What is up with all these new books with Jabez.? What does it mean?  I was looking at all the books and there are so many. I didn't have time to look at any of them.  Could you explain a little? Thanks

I was at a craft show with my Mother and Great-Aunt for most of the day and had an enjoyable time.  While there, we saw a table that was just full of angels crafted of various materials to be used as ornaments and my Mother commented that it would have been nice to have had a digital camera to snapa photo with for posting here.

Sarah, I loved your verse yesterday.

Pat, nice work on your PSP lessons.  I am not a photographer, and enjoy looking at the special effects of those that are.

Sonja, I will post a banana bread recipe in the food section for you.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha Pat you are too funny.

Rachelle about the glasses.  My 10 year old has had glasses for over a year.  She never takes them off. I was concerned too but she was so pleased to be able to read the overheads at church and to sing, that meant more to her than anything kids have said.  Elizabeth is outspoken and once she was teased she simply said "Well anyway, I can see!"  I believe we underestimate the spirit of our kids.

Pat that was another of Jack's favourite hymns wasn't it?

Night all,  Hope I sleep tonight, these nights laying awake are brutal.

Love and {{{{{HUGS}}}}}

Sonja -- "the Prayer of Jabez" was a little book he wrote a few years ago that literally took the Christian community by storm.  I never read the whole thing, but it is basically about trusting God enough to pray for him to "expand your territories" and is based on a short prayer in the Old Testament by a man named <drumroll> Jabez.  I'm sure some of the others have read it and can tell more about it.

It was so popular, they "rewrote" it for teens, children, etc.

Rachelle, my daugher also has required glasses for about 10-12 years.  At first she didn't want to wear them, and quite often didn't.   Once she realized that she really could see better with them than without them, the ridiculing and teasing no longer mattered.  All I can advise is to have patience and be supportive.

Karmat-
Thank You for the advice on the book- I checked the website out and the book looks interesting. I will look at the bookstore on Friday and read a little more about it.
I hope I didn't give the impression that I didn't like being a Mom at all because I wouldn't trade it for anything-I feel that being a Mom is one of the highest callings that God gave to us.
But, sometimes we have hard days..But, I know that I do have the victory in Jesus and that like Judy said THIS TO SHALL PASS.. I totally believe that JUDY was right in its Halloween time and things get stirred up-I know that the enemy is out there to attack.

Hi Sonja...  The Prayer of Jabez is a book written by this man that Karma mentions and it is based on a couple of verses in the Bible in 1 Chronicles 4:9, 10...

9Now Jabez was more honorable than his brothers, and his mother called his name Jabez,[1] saying, "Because I bore him in pain." 10And Jabez called on the God of Israel saying, "Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain!" So God granted him what he requested.

The movement that is spreading across the globe suggests that this is a "model" prayer.

There are conflicting schools of thought on this among evangelicals.

I urge people to read and memorize the verse in 1 Thes. 5:21 which says, "Test all things; hold fast what is good."

I won't say more about this tonight.

I think I'll go and find a sermon that I found some months ago about this prayer.  If I find it, I'll post it here and you must have Real Audio to listen to it.  I know I enjoyed it.

I don't believe that it was God's intention for us to quote this prayer daily as the book suggests that we do.

Now, I must get to bed!  But first I will look for the link if I can find it.

And these are my thoughts on this and my opinion only.  I have the book.  I personally don't recommend the book.

It's very easy to listen to and lots of scripture to relate to.

Oohhh, Y'all are so wonderful here!  I love all the hugs and support for one another ... and the fun, too! <Pat>  This is, indeed, the best place on the internet ... bar none!

I would love to respond to each post I've read this evening ... and I really have, here in my own little home.  It would fill up this page and spill over into the next one if I did, though.  Just be assured that I love each and every one of you and count it a great privelege to be a part of this happy family.

RACHELLE~
I know there are times when our nerves and stamina are put to the test ... especially when we have family!  I want you to know that everything that has been posted for you is exactly what I'd say, too!  I just got here too late, that's all.   :-\

PAT~I really love looking at your lessons for PSP... You are so gifted in this area and I am just the very best "audience" you could ask for!  I love the photos of you and Papa John!  I remember that meeting in Atlanta, too!  Yup, you really did kiss him...or was it the other way around?  hmmmm And, weren't you sitting on his lap????   ::)

I heard from my youngest daughter tonight, and things are going along pretty well there again.  She had some good news for me about my granddaughter (her eldest) in Southern California.  I am blessed and praising the Lord for His loving care.  God is good ... all the time!

I'm off to look at some of the other forums ... Nita told me she put a photo someplace here ... I gotta see it!   :D

Y'all have an awesome day tomorrow (today) and I'll be back ... promise!!

My dear and loving friends in Christ...........

Please allow me a couple of minutes to give you my thoughts on "Joining in on purchasing every book that comes down the pike".

Jesus Christ called me just exactly as I am.  I may, or may not have sufficient finances to purchase more things to improve my satus.  Improve it?  How can I improve Lee Kirkwood's status by buying more things?  God said He will provide my needs, and He will answer every prayer I present to Him.  NO, He hasn't said He will give me my selfish wants, but He will keep me clothed, with  food for my health, and shelter from the elements.  A new car?  That's not a good prayer.  Hey, He may take the one I have away from me and provide a bicycle.  He may even allow me to suffer physically, or through the loss of a loved one like Job, or suffer any number of other ways for the purpose of bringing me to what He WANTS me to be.  I ask you:  Who was the richest woman in the bible?  If you happen to tell me that it was a litttle old lady who gave the widows "mite" you are 100% correct.  Do we want to be richer than her?  It's impossible, she gave her all.  Jesus also said to the rich young ruler: "Give all you have and come, follow after Me."  He didn't tell him to improve himself with more.

Christians all to often jump from one fad to another and only give a wink at their "First Love", in their exploration of [new ways] to "FIND Him", or to "Get MORE of Him."  We all know that we [got] )Received) ALL of Him upon our salvation.  Each one of us has four of the most important treasures on earth, and they are: The Lord God Almighty, Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit, and a Bible.  Please, you tell me what more do we need?  The Lord through His Holy Spirit has provided each one of us all the wisdom we need [in] His Bible that will last a lifetime.  Who on earth can tell us (Born Again Christians) how we can improve our lives any better than Jesus Christ?   I'll say it.......There are many, many preachers like Robert Schuler who will be in their pulpits the Sunday after the Rapture.  Why? Simply because he, like so many others, are "False Teachers" dragging potential children of God into the ibis with their feel good, get more preaching.  Our Lord tells us they will say Lord, Lord, I prophecied in your name, and He will tell them: "Depart from me ya acursed, I never knew you".  I may be opening a can of worms here and I apologize if I have stepped on anyone's feet, but I am telling you not like Lee says it, but in love as God says it.  BTW, I won't buy the book.

Karmat................

We are already "somebody", and in the Lord's  and our eyes, nobody's don't exist.  Everyone is loved by the Lord, even the lost.  My pastor always says...."There are two kinds of people in this world, the saints and the aints".  That covers everyone in the world.  Do you agree?  And might I add Karmat, you and I, through the Holy Spirit, are doing our best to reach the aints that God has been calling all their lives.

LEE~Can of worms or not, I fully understand what you are saying!  I have never read the Prayer of Jabez; I saw one video on the Secrets of the Vine; and I don't have the $$$ to buy "every book that comes down the pike!"   :-\ ::) :P  God knows my heart ... I am His and He is mine.  I love Him so much more every moment of every day ... all I want is more of Him!

PAT~I am downloading the MP3 version of that sermon ... I think I will enjoy listening to it!

What I've discovered about books: lol

From the time I first met the Lord, I've read books that have moved me in the direction the Holy Spirit was leading.  It would be as though God had led me to hear about the book, and as Karmat has felt, it excites you because it's as though God, Himself, was speaking through it.   And again......I've bought books that everyone else was talking about, saying how it blessed them, and was sorry I did.    When I purchased Tommy Tenny's book, The God Chasers, I wasn't sorry.  That's because it spoke to my heart on the need for desiring God with all my heart.  Usually when a book really blesses me, is when God has already started speaking to me an an area, and the author is writing about that same thing.

(like when Iain writes from his own pain and speaks into us what we are saying to God, or He is saying to us.....or what we are feeling, and not saying....you know what I mean)

Maybe that's why the book that Etta Sue is speaking is so exciting to her.  It's speaking to her.......and many others from what I've read here.

I've always wondered about the Prayer Of Jabez because I know that the prayer of Jabez was just a few verses in the OT, and though he does show us how it isn't selfish to pray for God's blessing,  it is just one prayer.....certainly not what my conversation with God would be every day.  I've never bought the book, but have heard others talking.

I have always been so blessed and inspired by Tozer's books, and Oswald Chambers, Phillip Yancy, and also it is, again, because they are writing the same things that seems to be the dialogue between my spirit and the Holy Spirit.  Does that make sense?  I sure hope so.

And I would guess we've all had books, tried to read them, couldn't concentrate on them, so put them away.  Then one day, you pick it up again, and can't believe you had not felt interest the first time.   I think it's just that it wasn't God's timing for you to read it then.  Or maybe this has just happened to me.  lol   I certainly won't speak for anyone but me.

I still don't know what I'll do about my camera.  It's according to how much it costs for repair.  That's when I'll know if I'm getting a new one, or fixing the old one. :)

Rachelle,  my grandaughter, Angel,  needs to wear her glasses too.  She has 20/200 vision.  She absolutely won't wear her glasses because it makes one of her eyes huge.  The first time she wore them, a boy called her frog eyes.  She has large eyes anyway, and has had things said about them.  She told her mom she'd rather be blind.  Angel is almost 14, so I think Kim will check into contacs for her.  She sure needs to do something.  Can you imagine...20/200?????   How can she see?  She goes to her eye doctor soon to talk about contacts.  And, honey.....you can be needy here all you want.  There are lots of hugs to go around.  Isn't it good that we are never all down at the same time. ? :)  God is good.

 Praying for Beth...

GOOD MORNING ON THE FIRST OFFICIAL DAY OF WINTER.

Thank-you Pat for the inspiring words once more.

                      SECRETS OF THE VINE

"new branches have a natural tendancy to trail down and grow along the ground" he explained."But they don't grow fruit down there.  When branches grow along the ground , the leaves get coated in dust .
When it rains they grow muddy  and mildewed. The branch becomes sick and useless"
"What do you do " I asked, "Cut it off and throw it away?"
"Oh no" he exclaimed . "The branch is much too valuable for that . We go through the vineyard with a bucket of water looking for those branches. We lift them up and wash them off ". He demonstrated for me with dark, calloused hands. "Then we wrap them around the trellis or tie them up. Pretty soon they're thriving".

As he talked I could picture Jesus' own hand motions when He taught in the vineyard that night .  He was showing how the Father makes sure His crop comes in sure and sweet.  When the branches fall into the dirt , God doesn't throw them away or abandon them.  He lifts them up , cleans them off, and HELPS them flourish again.

Suddenly I had a burst of insight ....LIFT UP...CLEAN....I have never read JOHN 15 in the same way again.

                                   Secrets of the Vine
                                     Bruce Wilkinson.

I have both Secrets of the Vine and Prayer of Jabez and I have enjoyed each of them.  I DO NOT RUSH TO EVERY NEW ITEM ON THE AGENDA...I DIDN'T RUSH OFF TO GET THE TORONTO BLESSING  either!!! However, I do recommend these books and I shall indeed get hold of a copy of "The Dream Giver" as recommended by Karmat because I find Bruce is a very READABLE  writer.

I suppose as we discuss the Toronto Blessing I should say in closing...

                     CATCH THE SPIRIT

                   THE JABEZ PRAYER
.Or as B.W. expresses it "The cry of a Gimper named Jabez"

AND JABEZ CALLED ON THE GOD OF ISRAEL SAYING,
"OH THAT YOU WOULD BLESS ME INDEED,
AND ENLARGE MY TERRITORY,
THAT YOUR HAND WOULD BE WITH ME,
AND THAT YOU WOULD KEEP ME FROM EVIL,
THAT I MAY NOT CAUSE PAIN!

So God granted him what he requested.

                        1 CHRON 4:10 (NKJV)

There is a time in our lives for the use of this prayer...It does work! Not as a testing of God but as an act of faith....

May the Lord Bless you all Indeed
This Sabbath.

Jenny.

Well, it never does to just read what everyone else is reading in Christian circles, because as Nita says if the Lord is leading you to learn something, there are Christian Authors who have "been there".
But just to jump on the bandwagon of the "BOOK THATS HOT TODAY!"
Well you will either get nothing out of it or put it down part read.
Basically Lee is correct, although  I do insist that we can get a great deal of teaching from many great Christian Authors just for the fact that many passages in Scripture can be difficult to understand and a good Concordance alongside our Bible is really essential.
It is all too easy to read every popular book or novel that is advertised as the essential book for todays Christian and thereby making wealthy some not very good authors! lol
But the classics like "Pilgrim's Progress," and Oswald Chambers, are very helpful also some devotionals like "Streams in the Desert."
Great books by great Believers who have suffered for their faith "CORRIE Ten Boom" for instance and Dietrich Bonhoeffer the German Pastor who died under the hands of an evil regime, these help us to understand how suffering for Christ makes us the people we are.
Suffering is not always a good word among todays Authors because if you write a book calling Christians to experience suffering for the Lord you find that you won't sell many books lol!
But we all as Believers suffer, in many different ways as those who use this board can testify.
May God encourage us by many different means to walk the Christian path "looking unto Jesus THE AUTHOR and finisher of our faith."
May God the Holy Spirit guide us into ALL Truth
and guard and inspire our reading too.
Regards Chris.

I have just heard a lovely recording on our local Radio Station...and would love to get it...it was a choice of Bishop Joe Aldred on Ed Doolan's programme.

      "COME BEAR THE WOUNDED SOLDIER".
any info please?

I am glad to see dear DIETRICH  Bonhoeffer mentioned..the Lord Bless his memory at this time! His words are such comfort to me...HE IS AN INSPIRATION FOR ALL OF US to "STAND UP AND BE COUNTED."...and of course dear "Auntie" CORRIE and her family including  dear sister Betsie who died in Ravensbruck must be remembered also.

I agree to some point....an author writes to make money.  BUT 4200 church....not individuals are doing this '40 Days of Purpose' all at the same time.  That is powerful in itself.  It has scripture throughout.  I have read each of those scriptures several times.  But when put in this manner it seems to me to give me more meaning.

I just know that 15 days into this book, 'The Purpose Driven Life' has made ME have multiple more thoughts of God.  And I believe when you are thinking of God then you are aware of God's presence.

Why is it when I have an idea, it seems someone always shoots it down?  But God is with me.  He loves me.  He knows what is in my heart.  That is all that matters.

I don't have time to do my daily thing today.  I am off to church to hear another sermon on 'The Purpose Driven Life' along with 700- 800 others who will be in our services today.

John (who is not a reader) has read The Prayer of Jabez and thoroughly enjoyed it.  There has been a lot of hoopla about it but he thoroughly enjoyed it.

It always seems that something good that God has given us  enemy takes and perverts.  It is so sad when that happens.

I have a busy day ahead.  I have to pick up Megan and then grab a film (I forgot yesterday) to take pictures of the Sundayschool classes.  One of the teachers has requested this so that she can put them on the bulletin board.  Sounds interesting eh?

We have s misty rain here today.  Not a nice day at all, +7 in the shade so it would be nice if the rain stopped.

Got to get going, God bless all of you and your families.

I had to wear glasses from when i was 3 (when i had eye surgery) til when i was 12 or so i don't wear them now b/c the Dr said they aren't helping me any. so the vision in my right eye is 10/20 and in my left 20/100 . so my vision is terrible but they say there is nothing they can do about it unless we want to spend some big time money  :(. anyways thanks for the comments on the email about moses and the computer! i need to finish getting ready to go we leave for Kingfisher in 30 minutes and i still have a few things left to pack!

Good morning.  Books are interesting.  Some are good and some are bad.  I used to buy a lot of books but no longer.  One reason is $$$$, and another reason is I like to read so much that I use our library more and more.

As I have mentioned I am getting stronger each day.  This week instead of the wheel chair I'm going to try to just use my cane.  Earlier this morning we are having a ground breaking for an addition to our building but we will not go to that.

I hope you all have a good day.

Karmat................

Lee, I agree.  I know I am "somebody." And I know that no one is "nobody."  BUT, there are people (Christians) walking through this world without victory because they think they are nobody.  I know I am somebody, and I know God has called me to do something only I can do.  And I have been trying to do it.  BUT, I was meeting with discouragement upon discouragement upon discouragement and wondering why God wasn't making it easier.  In my head, I know why, but my heart was working to absorb that message.

In "Experiencing God," Henry Blackaby talks alot about callings and prayer.  One thing that he has taught that makes a lot of sense to me, is that when God call you to do something, he will confirm in four possible ways.  Bible study, prayer, circumstances, and other believers.  Yes, before anyone says it, I know that Bible study is enough.  But God, in his grace and mercy knows that we humans doubt and worry, so I think he will let us have confirmation through other ways as well.  Ways beyond Bible study and prayer are important as well because sometimes, if not all the time, if one person is called to do something, someone else is probably called with them (especially in the instance of God calling a church to do something.)

So what does that have to do with "The Dream Giver?"  Everything.  For several weeks, I felt that God had pointed me in the direction of something I needed to do.  I wanted to double and triple check, because it could look like I was pursuing material wealth, or material things, and I wnated to "try" my heart and make sure it was pure.

Not long after I had prayed the prayer that I did, and felt the nudging from God that I did, I heard a scripture that supported it fully.  Then, a fellow believer confirmed it as well.  Then, I read this book, and now I feel I have a clearer vision.

Mind you, I was settled after the Bible verse.  The other two "just came along."

About reading every book that comes down the pike.  This book is the first one I have read since I requested "She Said Yes" from the book exchange, so I hardly think I do that.  When I do read something though, and I enjoy it, and find value in it, and I know I associate with others who enjoy reading and may be facing the same issues I am, I will recommend it.  I also don't recommend buying everybook that someone recommends.  However, when the local library gets it, it doesn't cost a thing to read it.   ;)

I have also read almost every book that Chris mentions at some point in my walk.  Each one also encouraged me and strengthened my faith in Christ in some form or fashion.  He is correct, they are classics, but they were new too, at some point.

I guess my point is, this book helped me in my spiritual walk, and to have even more confidence in my Christ and to work more effectively and victoriously for Him.  I also know there are people on this board struggling with what Christ has for them, and I felt that this book would help them with that.  If recommending it means that to you (plural, not Lee specifically) I am somehow pushing to do what everyone else it doing, all I can say is I am sorry you feel that way.  It was an eye opening book, and is very valuable reading, I think.

It is not a fad to read a new book.  It is not a fad to participate in something new.  The only difference between a fad and a classic is about 25 years.  I would agree that the Bible is all we need.  There is no reading material in the world that compares in any way to it.  So, I guess if all we read is the Bible, and we don't need outside reading, this whole bulleting board would be pretty much unnecessary, wouldn't it? Yet, everyone in here, I think, at some point has expressed that this forum did something for us. A book, in printed form can do the same.

Thanks for the devotional Pat and your words of advise.  I spent a restless night and with more time this morning to get ready for church, stopped by early and seem to have stepped into another muddle.

It has been my experience that we can take the good from books and leave alone the part that doesn't touch our heart or spirit.  Mine is a quiet faith and I don't rush after everything that comes along....but when people are blessed and grow from something...then trust that God is involved.  Even if we don't read the books, we can be blessed from the growth of those who do!

Do not agree with you about Robert Schuller Lee.  Not my choice of church but have had many blessings from his TV Ministry when unable to attend church.  I believe in postitive thinking when Jesus is the leader.
Would never doubt the salvation of others, based on their prosperity.  Nor would I be so bold as to judge....

Must go now.  Chris, you have a wonderful way of stating truth, thanks dear brother.

Gods Blessings to all.

Good Morning Everyone!

I've never had my computer do what it did!  It went back TWO hours!  I was so mixed up when I came here thinking that it would be right but it isn't!

What interesting conversations we get in here!  I must hurry now but will be back later.

It's taken me awhile to figure out WHAT the time really is and it's later than I thought!

Well everyone, Allison and little Simon are home now.  They had a great night last night, and Simon only woke three times through the night, which is pretty good for a two day old.  They're getting settled in pretty comfortably.  I'm going to stay home with Allison this morning so I can watch Simon while she gets a bath.  He's soooo adorable!  Jen.

I am not going to comment right now on the book issue, except to say that I have read many Christian books, some held my interest and some put me to sleep. I read the Prayer of Jabez and it blessed me in that it was very informative in the way to pray at times especially for others who are in need, also for myself. I know there are those out there in the world that used this prayer for material gain and even the tabloids have had stories of the riches to be gained in praying this prayer and have exploited the whole purpose. I think it is all in how you apply it to your own life in your spiritual needs not your material wants.

The thing on my mind this morning and last night is that soon I will have to be moving again this place is only for 1 year. The trailer is going to be moved off the property and the owner is going to build a house here.

So I will be looking for a place to live where I can have my dogs. As long as there is a fenced yard to keep them safe I will be happy. Although I would like a place where I do not have to move again and can stay for the rest of my life. So if anyone here is moved to  pray in agreement with me that the Lord is going to provide my every need and that I will be keeping my dogs with me I would appreciate it. God knows what I will be able to afford and I know that He will supply my every need.

Must get ready for church now be back later.

I have only a couple of minutes before we leave for church.  We will be joining our friends at Celebration Baptist this morning, along with Beth.

On the book issue, I must say I agree with Karma and Jenny.  I was really blessed by reading the Prayer of Jabez and Secrets of the Vine, and will look for the Dream Giver as well.  Many times, reading a book by a Christian who has faced the same trials in life I am facing at a particular time has been very helpful to me.  And I agree, I don't buy them all, I do use the library, too.

This is the day the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it!

Etta Sue, I think maybe you misunderstood something here.......I got the impression that many here are very interested in reading the book you are now studying.  I know I am!  I don't think anyone is criticizing you.  But my focus just now is on HEALING!!

Talk to y'all after church!

QuoteTozer's books, and Oswald Chambers, Phillip Yancy, and also it is, again, because they are writing the same things that seems to be the dialogue between my spirit and the Holy Spirit.  Does that make sense?  I sure hope so.

Thank you very much dear sister. I know in my heart that you do hear from the Lord. The word of knowledge is powerful as well as discernment. God bless you my sister.

Everything in my life has a purpose and I know that God will "NEVER LEAVE ME NOR FORSAKE ME" and that He "WILL WORK ALL THINGS TOGETHER FOR THE GOOD OF THOSE WHO LOVE HIM AND ARE  CALLED TO HIS PURPOSE."

My needs are so small compared to those whose needs are so great. Like the people who have no home at all.

Much of what you say I agree.  We here in this forum are also aware that the "evil one" whould like nothing  more than to seperate us by causing a minor disagreement (In our thinking) to be blown out of porportions by piting one against another.  Our Lord has warned us against this, and I for one have become very attached to not only you, but everyone else in this froum.  Let's call it a draw and move on. :-*

Margit and I are about to read "The Purpose Driven Life"
It was  recommended by a faithful, long time, friend, we feel thankful for her advice, and we will read it out aloud together as we did the last one-"The Call" by Os Guiness, yes it is good too.

So Etta Sue,
God bless you in your studying, for all reading should be edifying, and of use in our Christian life and of use in loving and understanding others.
In Him,
Chris.

The talk today of the books and the words from others are much to think about for me. I know many times God will take me to do for Him the work that a nother Christian did not think to do. Perhaps it was not Gods wish for them to do it?

I know in my heart when I am close to God. And sadly, at times I do not do what is the wish of other Christians every time. I have a wonder at times if it is that I am a new Christian and perhaps I do not yet undarstand what is Gods wish as a Christian. So I pray.

I do know today that God will speak to us each in a different way. I do know that we can all read from the same words of a book and take from these words each a different task.
One who is close to God will know how to honor him. We will know what we are to do when it is Gods wish to teach us. Seek and ye shall find.

I love you all.

There is much fire here again today. The air it is very bad. There is many families today without a home at all. The power it is on only sometimes and it is hard for me to get the internet.  I hope you will help to pray for the families.

I did do a picture for the DPC this week. It is a Grace challenge, and my wish to Honor God. I am excite for my picture. I hope it will honor all my friends here at the Christian Photographers too. My picture, it is what I did learn here at the CP. I will not ever think to make a picture as I did, without you all here to teach me as you do.

Hi Ms Janet (hug), I am blessed each day to know each of you here as my friends. I thank you all, from my heart.

Well, hello all you guys!  It's 4 pm here and I haven't posted yet today.  Hmm...  I'm slipping I guess :)

Kinda feel like I'm stepping into the middle of a boxing ring, of sorts.  Of course, there's been a truce called, so I'm not sure I'm free to interject my two cents worth without angering someone???  For some reason, when there's a slight disagreement that involves my sweetheart, I always feel a strange need to come to her defense.  Not sure if that's a side effect of love, or exactly what ???

Gotta go for now; the boy wants to go to his room and play :)

Bye now!

A man from Norfolk, VA called a local radio station to share this on Sept 11th, 2003.  His Name was Robert Matthews.  These are his words:
"A few weeks before Sept 11th, my wife and I found
out we were going to have our first child.  She planned a trip out to California to visit her sister.  On our way to the airport, we prayed that God would grant my wife a safe trip and be with her. Shortly after I said 'Amen' we both heard a
loud pop and the car shook violently.  We had blown out a tire.  I replaced the tire as quickly as I could, but we still missed her flight.  Both very upset, we drove home.  I received a call from my father who was retired FDNY.  He asked what
my wife's flight number was, but explained that we missed the flight.  My father informed me that her flight was the one that crashed into the southern tower.

I was too shocked to speak.  My father also had more news for me; he was going to help.  'This is not something I can just sit by for, I have to do something.'  I was concerned for his safety, of course, but more because he had never given his
life to Christ.  After a brief debate, I knew his mind was made up.  Before he got off of the phone, he said, 'take good care of my grandchild.'  Thosewere the last words I ever heard my father say; he died while helping in the rescue effort.

My joy that my prayer of safety for my wife had been answered quickly became anger -- Anger at God, at my father, and at myself.  I had gone for nearly 2
years blaming God for taking my father away.  My son would never know his grandfather, my father had never accepted Christ, and I never got to say good-bye.  Then something happened.

About 2 months ago, I was sitting at home with mywife and my son, when there was a knock on the door.  I looked at my wife, but I could tell she wasn't expecting anyone.  I opened the door to a couple with a small child.  The man looked at me and asked if my father's name was Jake Matthews.  I told him it was.  He quickly grabbed my hand and said, 'I never got the chance to meet your
father, but it is an honor to meet his son.'  He explained to me that his wife had worked in the World Trade Center and had been caught inside after the attack.
She was pregnant and had been caught under debris. He then explained that my father had been the one to find his wife and free her.  My eyes welled up with tears as I thought of my father giving his life for people like this.  He then said,
'There is something else you need to know.'  His wife then told me that as my father worked to free her, she talked to him and lead him to Christ.  I began
sobbing at the news.  Now I know that when I get to heaven, my father will be standing beside Jesus to welcome me, and that this family would be able to
thank him themselves. "

When their baby boy was born, they named him Jacob Matthew in honor of the man who gave his life so mother and baby could live.  This story should help
us to realize two things: First, that though it has been two years since the attacks, we should never let it become a mere tragic memory.  And second, but most important, God is always in control.  We may not see the reason behind things, and we may never know this side of heaven, but God is ALWAYS in control.

Please take time to share this amazing story with those you love. You may
never know the impact it may have on someone.

Our sermon today was taken from John:14 where Jesus healed Peter's mother in law. And that Jesus  "Noticed" that she needed a healing.

Are there people around you that you have NOT noticed that may be in need of prayer, a friend, someone in your church,or someone with a need  to be acknowledged that they are there? Do you know a lonely person who has no friends?

Can we reach out to someone in our church that we don't know and "Notice" them? The Pastor challenged each of us to reach out to someone every Sunday, go visit them in their home, take them to lunch, sit with them in church. "Notice" them.

Some of  us know the people we work with more thatn we know the people in our churches or our neighbors. Jesus said to "Love you neighbor as yourself"

Do you need to reach out to your neighbor? Do you pray for your neighbors? Do you even know your neighbors?

I am guilty of all of the above. I do not know my neighbor on one side, I have not prayed for my nwighbor. I know you all here better than I know those in my church. I stay to myself not going out of my way to meet people.

Oh, I smile at them when passing them in a store or on the street but I haven't loved them as myself.

Jesus said "if you have done this unto one of these my children you have done it unto me".

I am going to be a better person and "Notice" those around me, pray for them and make friends with them.

For me it will be an effort on my part to be more outgoing  and less of a loner who spends all her time on the internet. I will begin to call church members from the church directory and introduce myself and ask if I can pray for them.

How may I pray for each of you? Do you have a prayer need today?

"May the God of peace himself sanctify you entirely, spirt soul and body. May He find you sound and blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. For He who calls you is faithful and will do this." 1 Thess. 5:23-24

Good evening brothers and sisters.  I'm not going to get into the book discussion except to say that God uses everything we read, whether the Bible, spiritual lessons, fictionalized scripture or any other writing, to speak or not speak to each of us in a unique way.  What may be just "the thing" for me at a given moment may mean absolutely nothing for someone else and vice-versa.  :)

Last night, when I could have taken advantage of the extra hour and stayed online a little longer, the cable company had scheduled a 12 hour shutdown for "upgrading" cutting off all TV and internet access.  :(

Well, I've just come in from having lunch with Nita after this morning's church service.  I have wanted to comment on several of the things you each have written, but I believe what Janet and Mieka and Chris have said most recently is "where it's at" <as the young'uns used to say> whenever the Holy Spirit directs it is always good!

MIEKA~You say it so well.  Thank you!   :-*

JANET~That is a wonderful story and only serves to re emphasize the fact that we never know the spiritual state of someone else.  A good friend of mine says that not one of those people in the 9/11 tragedy died alone.  Jesus was right with each one and gave them the opportunity to know Him.  Thank you for posting that, my friend.

And ... MARILYN~Some more very thought provoking words.  It is so very important that we stay aware of "others" all about us as we go about our daily life.  We need to allow the Jesus in us to reach out and touch someone.  Thanks for sharing your pastor's sermon.

Hi JEANNE~You came in while I had my head down "composing" I guess!   :-\  You said it well, my friend.  It's all about where you're at at any given moment.  God is the one who quickens the word to our own special need.

Thanks God, this is once again the CP that I have come to love!

Papa John, it is wonderful to read your postings and see your face again.  Even one covered with lipstick...

Mieka, you have told it like it is and must be a joy to God as well as to all of us.

Marilyn, I will pray for your need and can relate to being a loner.  Hesitate to attempt new friendships and do more smiling than talking, most days.  God has met your needs and will continue to do so.  You have great depth and I get so much from your posting.

Sarah, I loved 'Moses & The Computer' and you sound like a real great gal.  Much more talkative than my granddaughter.  She seems to express herself with her paintings....

Jenny, I will continue to pray for Helen.  Also Janet & Beth.  How it hurts when our children have problems.  More than anything else in the world!

Etta Sue, my church has started teaching 'The Purpose Driven Life' in a Bible Study on Tuesday mornings.  I will hop on the bus and attend and know it will be helpful.  Can't go this Tues. as a realtor is coming, but will try for the next week.  My Baptist Church is somewhat conservative but  has a great outreach ministry.  We are taught to be:  gentle, loving, respectful, based on the firm foundation of Jesus.  We are a small church of about 200 people and have a nice mix of young, old and older.  The music is both modern and sometimes the old hymns are played by piano and flute.  Wonderful stuff....

Must go now.  God Bless.

Our pastor weaved the following story into his sermon this morning.  I didn't mean to, but when he told it I openly said "Oh wow"

"If you want to know how God might feel when mankind rejects  His Son, How would you feel if your own son ran into a burning house and died saving the people inside, and the people he saved refused to go to his funeral?"

Well it has been a busy couple of days.  I haven't had time to get online and check out the posts, but I caught up this evening.  It is good to be back, and I am thankful that so many people mentioned that it was good to have me back.

There have been a number of things that we (My hubby and I)have been working through.  We need to find a place to live, really soon.  We have been staying in Jon's sister's pool house that is not heated, so with the weather getting cooler, it is becoming necessary that someplace that we can afford come available soon.  We have been down to one income over the last month or so, because my car hasn't been safe enough to do my job.  We did the work to the car this weekend, and it is now drivable enough so that I can go back to work.  It is a good feeling to know that I can get back to work, and can start helping out in saving some of the money necessary to get a home of our own.

Anyway, it is time for me to run, Jon and I are wanting to spend some quiet time together.

Love to all
Heather

Good evening all!  What a bright sunshining day here.  I drove home from Jerry's during the sun setting and it was awesome.  A perfect ending to the day.

Jerry and I are doing the tape recordings of the pastor's sermons.  WheW!  We started this the first week of "The 40 Days of Purpose'.  Used to we only made 12 duplicates of the sermon.  Now people are asking for last week and the week before.  Plus 36 or more for the present sermon.  It really keeps us on the ball!  We print the label by a computer and printer and then our duplicating machine duplicates 3 tapes in about 3 minutes.  Really neat how people think they are pre-recorded...but not.

Jerry and I ate breakfast out and then I felt like unwinding by driving around Greenfield.  I lived there for 32 years but haven't drove around for over 2 years.  My, the new stuff!  New homes and businesses.  Mind boggling.

Then when we were south of me and west of Jerry, he said he thought he could drive his car home today.  It has been in my garage since his stroke.  I followed him...I didn't see any brown metal along the side of the road.  He did fine!

I then took a nap on his couch while he watched NASCAR racing...then I came on home.

Ali missed me!!!  She is a sweetie-pie!

It pleases me that so many are reading 'The Purpose Driven Life'.  I am praying that you are blessed by reading this book.  What is one man's trash, is another man's treasure.  I am praying that this is a book all of you will treasure.

Okay, I will do this tonight!!!!

Marilyn...........

What is your trade?  I ask this so I can make a fair assessment as to whether you can make a living by moving to Sandpoint or other parts nearby.  Jobs are better in Spokane, and living in Post Falls or Coeur d' Alene, would be better.  Rather hard to make a living in Sandpoint.

Liz..........

Vivian and I also attend a Baptist church that is conservative.  We are not Baptist, but are attending a church where our pastor has the two requirements we look for. #1, He must treach the Word as written, and #2, he must be loving and have compassion.  We initially went through a culture shock from having attended a 10,000 memeber church with close to a hundred choir members and several solo and group singers, including Joni Erickson Tady, to a church of 36 people.

Jenny.........

Like Janet, you are in the middle of the storm.  Every Sunday morning Vivian and I watch Adrian Rogers on TV just before we leave for church.  His message today was "Finding calm in the middle of the storm".  The emphesis was on our Lord's having either allowing the storm, or causing the storm on Galilee where He walked on the water, and calmed the storm.  Jesus is there in the middle of our storms of life and wants us to look to Him.  I loved it when He said that Jesus Christ has us on His prayer list.

I respect you for this, and can only say Bravo my brother.

This has been a strange day for me.  Before leaving for church I did something not usual, I taped Hour of Power.  Do not do this when attending church.  Guess who was on...Bruce Wilkinson, talking about the Dreammaker .....

My dream was to be a journalist and due to finances, that was not possible.  So went into the world of accounting and computers....When I was forced to retire early in life, due to health problems, I decided to try seriously writing and took a correspondence course.  Did okay, but again health got in the way.  When that happened, continued writing for my own pleasure.  Wrote this one day and it was published in small unimportant places, not for money.  Might be of interest:

THE  REALITY  OF  A  DREAM

Everyone needs a dream.  'Writing' is a pleasant dream for some.  Something to tempt the fancy.  To become a reality, words must be put on the paper.  Sentences to form a picture describing the complexity of our universe.  Even dreamers must make a clear connection with truth.  Dreams can be hard work.

Take a simple dream and add reality.  Suddenly it becomes a goal.  Goals are serious.  There must be dedication and commitment.  Our world is filled with educated derelicts.  They forgot the importance of perseverance.  Dreams can be hard work.

Motivation is the stuff of fulfillment.  Make a schedule, put the dreams into neat time slots.  Have faith in the dream.  Have faith in yourself.  HAVE FAITH IN GOD.  Jesus taught, 'If you have faith you can accomplish anything."  Dreams can be hard work.  They can also be fun!

Ideas are different from dreams.  They are like a work-in-progress....

IDEAS

A presence
waiting
in the dark.
Words
dangling,
creeping
into dreams.
Strange twists
impossible
to resist.
Ideas
will not stay.
Like shadows,
dance
away.

Lee: I am currently working as a Caregiver. I have been a Library page too among other things.

I really want to stay in this part of of California where I am close to my youngest son and not that far (5-6 hour) away from my other children and grandkids.

I spent 10 years in the Mojave Desert away from all my family and that was 10 years too long. During that time I went back on drugs and was arrested for manufacturing Meth. The man I was with took the charges off me because he was the one cooking and I got 3 yrs. felony probation. During that time I met Jesus and he saved me and delivered me from drugs and I became a new person in Christ.

My youngest son is the one who wanted me to be near him as I get older(64 in Feb.) in order for his kids to know me and because he also wanted to know me again. So you can understand why I prefer to stay here.

I don't have a whole lot to say about "The Prayer of Jabez."  But I would like to ask this: we know that "The Lord's Prayer" was taught by our Lord to His disciples, and it has therefore become a "model" prayer.  Besides that, it covers almost every need that could possibly come into a Christian's life.  We were never told to repeat it weekly, though, and, although some churches do so, yet some also don't, and I don't think one is better than the other for it.
However, how about the prayer Jabez prayed?  Was it given as a model prayer?  Was any mention made of it elsewhere?  There were and are good teachings that can be found in the passage, but the prayer itself was not presented as something everyone should pray.  Is God's ability lacking, so that a certain prayer alone can release it?  Are our needs so great that He cannot do anything without this specific prayer?  I'll leave the answers to you.

Hello Everyone...

This has been a busy Sunday for me with company, phone calls and also still trying to get rid of my headache.  It's nearly gone.

Etta Sue, you certainly are a busy lady along with Jerry at your church!  Making tape copies is a big job.  How many can you do at one time?  In the church I used to attend, I used to help with this and we did 12 at a time with the machine that they had.  I never saw another one like that.

Great to see everyone posting.

It IS good to hear the different opinions on things.  Let's always be kind in our posts setting out our differences.  I felt strongly when Sonja asked last night that I put forward my opinion on the Prayer of Jabez book (and on no other book as I haven't even heard of the other two mentioned) as I became involved in it last spring and did some research into it at that time.  But some of you do differ and that's your prerogative.

We all have our opinions.  My caution is that everything be tried to see if they ARE from the Holy Spirit and from the scripture as it was written.    Some are and some aren't but still sound good. Read 1 Thes. 5:51 again and again.  That's my caution.

I don't know of an internet site where people all agree 100%.  Is there one?  I just don't know of it.  And it's difficult when people all come from various churches where different doctrines, etc. are taught.  But up until now, we haven't had any big problems on CP and that's really good.  Let's keep it up.  I've learned so much from many of you.  We're nearly SEVEN MONTHS old!  I know that on the other CP, we were nearly a year there but with my owning this website, it's nearly 7 months.

Liz, I got your photos!  They were delivered in error by my postman to 229 instead of 299 (you had it addressed correctly) and the man just brought them up a few minutes ago.

I'm so far behind in my PSP lessons but I do really want to complete this course.  I will try this week to get caught up.

Wow, Lee!  What a huge church!  You can sure get lost in a church of that size.  Give me the small ones anyday!   ;)

It's too late now to reply to everyone's post but just will say that I enjoyed reading all of your comments.

I don't think we spoke about the devotional today at all so maybe we could just sing this hymn again together?  With real meaning?

Behold, what love, what boundless love,
The Father hath bestowed
On sinners lost, that we should be
Now called "the sons of God!"

Refrain
Behold, what manner of love!
What manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us,
That we, that we should be called,
Should be called the sons of God!

No longer far from Him but now
By "precious blood" made nigh,
Accepted in the "Well beloved,"
Near to God's heart we lie.

Refrain

What we in glory soon shall be,
It doth not yet appear;
But when our precious Lord we see,
We shall His image bear.

With such a blessèd hope in view,
We would more holy be,
More like our risen, glorious Lord,
Whose face we soon shall see.

Mr Moak, I love you,

It is my wonder if perhaps it is a easy prayer for many to say because they do not yet often talk with God.
The journey of a thousand miles will always begin with the first step.
Perhaps for some it is a way to show God they want for him. Any time with God is a good time, yes?
It is my thought that any tiny thing it is not a matter how small, can be a great help to those who ask and to those who seek and to those who look for God in any way.
It is my prayer that they will all find Him and Grow in His love for them.

Ms Judy,

It is Mieka, it was safe here at my home not long ago. There are today 4 famlies here that did have the house burn and they have no place to go tonight.

I am to leave is some days and my room it is for them to stay, i will not need it any more for many month.

Now there is a fire in the Malibu too  :'(
Not long ago it was SO bad here in the Malibu from the fire. I see the houses that are gone each day, but i did not see the fire then. Many talk of it for my time here, but I did not see it as I do today.

I pray God will help with this. I pray He will help the ones that make this fires everywhere so they can know it is so bad that they do this.  :'(

My heart is heavy for so many tonight. There are more than 500 houses are gone here and a new fire tonight in the Malibu where i live.   :-[

Meeks, I am so sorry to hear about the fire.  I pray for your safety.  When are you leaving :'(?  You will be missed greatly.

I took a picture of a boat, yesterday.  Thought of you!!!

I just submitted to the "Shadows" challenge at DPC.  This picture is one of those that I don't expect to score well, but I captured my idea (well, Nards' idea) like I saw it in my head, and that is always a small victory.

Hi...
Thank You Lee about what you said about being careful about getting into reading alot of the books that are out there-I do think that there are alot of good books out there and alot of good information on things that are happening now-I am familar with the bookstore at the Healing rooms in Spokane, Washington-they have alot of good books there ..and My husband and I have purchased some there-He has read more than I-For me-I find it hard to read because I am focused all day long teaching the children and I find it hard to sit down in the evening to read a book-I also think that the most important book is the word of God  and for me I need to study Gods word and rely on his words for my life. He gives us the road map for our lives.

I feel kinda stupid right now because I have absolutely nothing of any worth to say.  I simply have the opportunity to post and so I guess I will.

Mi - we're gonna miss you girl.  I pray God protects you from the fires, too.  Go with God and focus everything you do on Jesus Christ.

Lee - I confess I was a little upset with you earlier today, brother, but Jesus and time can heal those kinda things, and we're cool now :)  I like those 36 person churches, too.  Ours is more like 80, but I went to a 25 member church for many years.

Pat - if my personal willingness to "challenge" folk I disagree with is something that I need to back off on to preserve the general atmosphere, please let me know and I'll swallow some pride and deal with it. I personally think it's okay, appropriate, and sometimes required to discuss some differences and learn how to really do it in love.  I'm working hard on the love part; I'm a good arguer but often lose contact with compassion and gentleness.

Marilyn - thanks so much for your "confession" about being a loner with a computer.  Karma and I are both very much the same kind of people.  In my opinion, it's an appropriate use of technology for people like us to come together.  Our doctrines may have their differences, but our love for Jesus is strong, and we can all certainly encourage and help each other.  Let's continue to do that.

Al - to be honest, I have always thought the prayer of Jabez was rather selfish.  To propose it as the "answer to the Christian struggle" would seem rather silly to me.  However, I have NOT read that book, and so I hesitate to judge Bruce Wilkinson.  It SEEMS to me, though, that such a prayer would focus on material wealth, and that doesn't SEEM appropriate.  It is a definite conviction of mine that liturgical prayers serve little use - apologies to those who feel otherwise.  I think liturgical prayers in general can teach us HOW to pray, but should never take the place of one-on-one communication with God.  I also agree that Jabez' prayer is not presented as a model prayer while "the Lord's prayer" was.

"Books" discussion - "The Dream Giver" doesn't seem to be doctrinally off track (I've only read the first half), it is really written as an "encouragement" to keep pursuing God's will ("the Big Dream"), and it is definitely NOT New Age as the title might imply.  At this point my take on it is that some of it's advice could be wrongly applied to physical issues rather than the spiritual issues that I think the author intends.  At this point I would not recommend against or for reading of it.  It definitely seemed to spark a little life in my spiritually frustrated sweetheart.  One of her dreams, for those who don't know, is writing.  To attack books outside the Bible as being questionable struck home on a level much deeper than the writers may have realized.  Not only was the book she read at stake, but the very validity of what she believes is part of her calling was put at stake.  Nuff said, just wanted to explain why this was somewhat of a big deal around the Shuford household today :)

Everybody - love you guys for the life you bring to our home.  I suppose it's strange for two mid-thirties parents not to have a social life, but ours is quite honestly limited.  There are a million reasons, it seems, but it's great to have you guys here and not be constrained by church schedules and committee meetings when we talk to you.  Thanks for being our friends!

I may be back later, who knows.  This is a pretty enduring post for someone who had absolutely nothing to say... and that wasn't a lie either.  It all came as I typed, but I guess it was buried somewhere!

Hi Everyone......I have been reading all the discussions about books and other things.   There are some fantastic books out there.    If you ever get a chance to read books by Ravi Zacharias, you will be blessed.   But be prepared, he is called a thinker and is very deep.   He writes about apologetics and has debated on the radio and TV.  He has written a book called "Jesus amongst other gods"    Great book if you want to lead someone to Christ.   Of course his books defend the Bible and draw people to investigate it further.

Well for someone who was only going to say goodnight, I've already said too much.

Goodnight

Tucson, Arizona
I am posting this in "Have You Prayed", but I am hoping to readh as many as possible who will pray.

My daughter just called from San Diego saying the fires there are raging out of control. 10 people have died, 4 burned in their cars as fire is jumping the roads. Many roads are closed, flights are cancelled, people are being evacuated, many homes have burned to the ground. She lives in Point Loma, a mile from the ocean, and she said the ash and smoke is so bad that their cars are covered with ash. The original fire started in Ramona, north of San Diego in the mountains, and has spread very quickly.

Please pray for the people there that they will remain calm as they

Please pray for the people there that they will remain calm as they are evacuated, and pray for the firefighters. Amy said the firefighters have all but given up as the wind is strong and new fires are springing up all the time.

Jenny---I am praying for your dear daughter Helen!  And (((hugs))) to you!

Marilyn, good posts today; thanks!  I so appreciated your call last night.  It helps to hear a voice!

Beth and I went to a movie at church tonight.  It was Time Changers and a really good Christian movie.  I recommend it.

Nards, I really appreciate your posts today.  And I hope that everyone has had their say now, and this particular book discussion is over!  It makes me nervous when something like this starts, I don't want anything to happen to our beloved CP, nor to any of our members!  I don't really think any of us is any more qualified than any of the rest of us to say what books someone should or shouldn't read.  (Christian books, I mean.)  If they get something from the Lord out of it, then praise God!

Hey, I am watching the KC Chiefs beat the stuffin' out of Buffalo!  They are going to be 8 and 0 after this game!!  GO CHIEFS!!!  (And this from a person who rarely watches any sports!)

Thanks for your posts!

I don't want to curb anyone for having their say in how they feel about a certain topic but just want to say that this should be done with love and special care.

In the past, I've learned from other posters about something I had no idea about and upon contemplating on the subject in my time of meditating on God's Word, I realized that one of you was correct and yet I didn't think that at the beginning.  This was good.

As Janet has said, I get a bit "nervous" too but at the same time, discussion is good--especially about certain books and I know that I can learn from others.  If I feel that something is absolutely against the teaching of our Saviour, I won't hesitate to say that and then I'll leave the decisions to you.

I remember Jack going to the Christian Book Store here in town and paying over $30.00 for a specific book that was going the rounds in evangelical circles at the time, just to have it as proof that a certain preacher was teaching false teachings.  He wrote in big red letters in the front cover of the book, "Beware, this book contains false teachings" and then he listed the scripture to prove it.

Anyway, I've posted many photos in the FOOD CHALLENGE and also in the AUTUMN COLOURS CHALLENGE.  Mieka is going to call me a Picture Pig!  HAHAHA!

Now, the next time you hear from me, I'll be locking the door but it will be a little while yet.
