"The clothes we wear are what people see. Only God can look on the heart. The outward signs are important. They reveal something of what is inside. If charity is there, it will become visible outwardly, but if you have no charitable feelings, you can still obey the command. Put it on as simply and consciously as you put on a coat. You choose it; you pick it up; you put it on. This is what you want to wear."

Morning Devotional...

..Jesus only.
Matthew 17:8

One solitary Figure in all human history stands majestically alone.   As man He is alone in His deity, the only One who is "God...in flesh."

Alone in His birth, for no one else chose to enter this fallen world.

Alone in His life, for only He did "those things that please the Father."

And He is unique in death and resurrection for, as He said, "I lay it down of Myself that I might take it again."
--J. Boyd Nicholson

He who died to set me free,
He who lives and loveth me,
He who comes--whom I shall see,
Jesus only, only He--
He shall bear the glory.

Seems like we all had a busy day.  It is late and I am tired, so will not say much....

Billy Graham was on this evening and I really enjoyed the program.  Hope others had a chance to watch.  George Beverly Shea sang and as usual, brought tears to most eyes.  How amazing that at 95 yrs. his voice is still so strong and true.  A living testimony to his faith.  The sermon was about Malachi....Malachi 3:6, "I am Jehovah, I change not." So many people seem to think that God changes, when in fact, it is people and the world that turns away.  James 1:17 states, "The Father of lights in whom there is no variableness, neither shadow of turning."  It is a great comfort to know that God remains the same.

We went into town with Amanda & her girlfriend to get them to the Big Valley Fair.  They are both in 4H and had to be there by 8 A.M.  Amanda won most everything in Art again .....  has one lady who wants a special picture done.  She is getting quite a fan club.  Good for her!!

Wendy visited her MIL and I waited in the hospital reception area.  Dot is having her serious operation Sunday morning and it is quite bad.  We have never gotten close as Dot holds that only Catholics are Christians and has not been much in the way of a MIL to Wendy and no kind of granddmother to Amanda.  Her loss....this second rate Christian will still pray for her tho' and I only hope things go well.  My daughter has a big heart and the least one can do is support the way she forgives and keeps trying...God will sort it all out in the end.

Time to go.  Pleasant evening/day and God Bless.

Liz

Hi everyone.

I have a good Catholic friend who I saw on Friday.  She said she hoped I didn't mind that after her choir practice Wednesday night all of their choir had prayed for me for the upcoming procedure on Tuesday.  I hugged her and told her I was most thankful.  Liz, it is a shame your daughter's MIL is so fixed in the thought that only Catholics have salvation.

My friend worked on my daughter's computer almost all day yesterday and after many checks determined that the motherboard was gone.  So tomorrow my son, my friend and I will go to Fry's and either find a new motherboard or I amy just get a new computer as they have one with Linspire software that we could simply change out the hard disk and make some other changes.  It may be about the same price as getting a motherboard since I will apparently have to buy a different type of memory.  I called the place we had the computer built and they said a replacement board couldn't use the memory we have.  I think I detect another example of bilking the public like the ink for printers.

Janet, glad you had the foods your mother wanted to eat.  I also hope that she will bounce back from this decline.  Having gone through similar experiences with both of my parents within the last 5 years the memories are still fresh so feel for you and your siblings as you deal with this situation.  It also sounds like you definitely need to take a day or two off for yourself and get rested up.

Pat and I are planning on going to church.  I will sing in the choir even though I had to miss practice Wednesday night.  We have practiced on the anthem we are doing several times and I can read music so think I will be able to keep up.  I expect we will go out to eat afterwards if Pat wants to do so.

Hope everyone has a worshipful day.

JudyB

Janet and Marilyn.  I am on my way.  Who has the closest deadline?

The tact I take is "If I haven't used it in a year or more it goes, and if I don't love it, it goes."  I have green garbage bags handy and start to toss, toss, toss.  Something like the 27 boogie fling.  It works and I have become quite ruthless with this.

We are all rushing to get ready for sunday school and church.  I have too drop 4 kittens off to Bonnie today to nursemaid.  Mommy has disappeared, been gone for 5 days now.  I am thankful that Cimi Melaura's dog and the other mother cat are helping with these responsibiities.

Talk later, Janet take today and rest.  You have been busy and your body is telling you so.  Marilyn be careful you don't overdo it.  Remember everything in moderatin, that includes the tossing and the work.  It is the excess that gets us into trouble.

Bye for now Love you all and have a God day

Marilyn

I don't think I will be going to church today, I have not slept well last night and my nose is all stuffed up. I feel like going beck to bed which is what I will do. I think the Lord is telling me to rest today and maybe I willfeel better by this afternoon and go to prayer meeting. I also want to go by thehouse and check on the work there.

Hmmmm.........for some reason, I had to go back and log in before I could get the reply button.  I have it checked to stay logged in "forever."  :-\  Oh, well.......

I am feeling very tired and my throat is still hurting.  We did go to church though.  I really, really need to go move stuff out of Beth's bedroom so the guys can yank up the carpet, but boy, I don't FEEL like doing anything. :(

September 11......so many memories.  I have a sweet young friend who is having her first baby today, and another young friend who is celebrating her 30th birthday today.  So life does go on, and they are making happier memories for Sept. 11.  Praise God that He never changes.

Thank you for that reminder, Liz, that God never changes.  He is always faithful, always loving, always forgiving.....and always JUST.  We cannot see the end from the beginning, but can be so grateful that He does.  And I am thankful that Wendy and Amanda have you as a stable Christian role model in their lives.  Give Amanda my congratulations on her winning artwork.

I am going to lie down for a while and see if I can feel better.

I voted Pat!

Janet and Marilyn, take time to rest.  Everything will happen when it is supposed to happen and the way it is supposed to happen and wearing yourself out shouldn't be a part of that plan!

Papa John, little Elsie is growing so fast but she is still quite adorable!

We were at the trailer this weekend and it was a gorgeous weekend.  The local fair was on, and what an enjoyable time we had.  We watched a bit of the light horse pull and then wandered around for a bit, had a hot dog and drink and just before we left for the day, paused to watch the highlight of the day (for us anyway).  A mini-peddle-tractor pull for kids.  There were various weight classifications and each child received a ribbon for their efforts.  There was no fee to enter and watching the expressions on each child's face as they struggled to do their best was priceless!  We then had a coffee and dinner by the waterfront and I wish I'd had my camera with me as a boat came in an docked that looked so very ornate.  I took a walk to look at it closer and discovered that it had been built in 1932.  Today we closed the trailer for the season and came home.  Now to get the mountain of laundry cleaned up and the rest of the housework and banking caught up and back into some kind of routine.....hehehe

Marilyn

I am still home and not planning on going anyplace today. I was so cold all morning that I finally went back to bed for an hour just to get warm. It looks so pretty outside that I was going to go to prayer meeting this afternoon but the wind is too cool. So today is a true day of rest for me. I've been sitting in my chair watching interesting stuff on the TV as well as reading up on Alternative medicine on my computer.

Papa John

We went to church and Bible class this morning.  Chris gave us a very moving sermon this morning as we looked at two events we are thinking about today, 9/11 and Katrina and how we turn to God and think of His will when we are faced with tragedy.

We are getting ready to go for evening service.  Beginning next Sunday night we will be having small group meetings on three Sunday evenings each month through the fall and winter.

Thank you for your kind remarks about Elsie.  When they ask her "Where is Papa John?" she turns to me and grins.  And I just eat it up.

Psalm 128:1-6
1   Blessed are all who fear the LORD, who walk in his ways.
2   You will eat the fruit of your labor; blessings and prosperity will be yours.
3   Your wife will be like a fruitful vine within your house; your sons will be like olive shoots around your table.
4   Thus is the man blessed who fears the LORD.
5   May the LORD bless you from Zion all the days of your life; may you see the prosperity of Jerusalem,
6   and may you live to see your children's children. Peace be upon Israel.   (NIV)

Just think, those of us who have great grandchildren have lived to see our children's children's children.

Janet

Yes, Papa John, and aren't they WONDERFUL??  ;D  Grandkids (and great grandkids!) are a special joy in life.

I had no luck trying to rest, so I got up and went out to Beth's and worked for an hour.  Darrel came out to help and we got the carpet yanked out and thrown away.  Did I tell you that one of the new pipes they installed didn't hold, and I cam in yesterday to another flood.  It soaked the new flooring they had just installed, plus soaked 2/3 of the bedroom floor.  >:( >:(  Plumbing problems are the pits!

It is almost time to go to church again.  Our Sunday evening services have been really special lately, and I don't want to miss out on what God is doing in our church!  (No, make that HIS church!)  :)

Sue, glad you had such a nice weekend.  You needed the rest and the break.  I also enjoy fairs.

A week from today we will be on our way to the black hills of South Dakota!  Going to visit Crazy Horse.........oh, yes, and the presidents, too.  HAHAHAHA.

God grant you special and extra grace to get Beth's place done, Janet - that was a frustration!

At church today, one of the young college fellows did the preaching.  Did pretty well.  Afterward, during the hymns, etc., when the kids came up from the basement to rejoin their parents, Johanna, my very favorite qseudo-grand came, stopped in the aisle next to me, and sat next to me.  I did indeed eat that up!

Right after the sermon and before she came, I was to go forward and introduce the Lord's Supper.  I told everybody that not only were we to remember what our Savior did for us, but that in going forward (we go forward to get the elements, then take them back to our seats) they were taking steps of faith, as it were saying to our Lord, "I need Your Body, broken for me, for I need Your rightsousness, and I need Your Blood, shed for me, for I need Your forgiveness.  Don't we all.

Hi Everyone...

I've had company today and I'm just free now for a few minutes.

Just wanted to touch base.  I have another lady coming for a cup of coffee with me in 15 minutes.

Talk to you later

We are just home from a friends.  They invited us over for a weiner roast after telling them we were taking mom out for dinner.  They thought  it would be nice for her to have an evening in the country.  Hot dogs, salad, smores (which Melaura makes so well), and lemon mirange pie.(sp)  The food was wonderful, and the company was refreshing.

Church was good.  Pastor Jeff spoke on how to stay young when you are old.  Whatever you sow you also reap.

We have 4 kittens that are about 2 weeks old.  Momma has disappeared, it has been 6 days now, and we are playing nursemaid to the things.  I don't have it in me to put them down, that seems unnecessarily cruel.  So the only other alternative is to play nursemaid.

Well It is 10:00 and I have meals to prepare for John, so gotta go.  (The food is cooked just need to dish it up and freeze it.)

Have a good night everyone.  Janet you really have to slow down.  when you do so much your mind keeps going 100 miles an hour and your body tries to keep up.  Slow down and get some rest.....soon.

Love y'all
JudyB

Janet

Oh, JudyB, I wish I could just stop for a while!  We simply HAVE to get that awful place fixed before Beth comes home on Oct. 5, and we will be gone all next week, so..........But it gives me nightmares just being over there in that mess!  Why on earth didn't she tell us things were leaking before the whole floor was gone????  AAARRRRGGGGGHHHHHH! >:(

For sure, there won't be so much STUFF there to clean around and behind when we get through.  What a pack rat that girl is.  :-\

I really hate to be away next Sunday, because our district superintendent is coming to install Pastor Kurt and JoLynn.  I told them it's really something when you don't even want to go on vacation because you don't want to miss church!  ;D

Time for more meds and bed, and I pray I can rest tonight, please Lord.
