JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Morning Devotional...

The Lord said, I have surely seen the affliction of My people...and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows; And I am come down to deliver them.
Exodus 3:7-8

The blessed benefit of the Lord's omnipresence and omniscience are evident in this verse; He has seen; He has heard; He knows the pain of His people.

From this divine knowledge His compassion responds; He comes down to deliver them.

So too, He knows our condition and great need, and He has come down to deliver us, in the person of His Son, Jesus Christ.
—D. McCulloch

DOWN FROM HIS GLORY
(Click to hear music)

Down from His glory, ever living story,
My God and Savior came, and Jesus was His name;
Born in a manger to His own a stranger,
A man of sorrows, tears and agony!

Chorus
Oh how I love Him!  How I adore Him!
My breath, my sunshine, my all in all!
The great Creator became my Savior,
And all God's fullness dwelleth in Him!

What condescension, bringing us redemption,
That in the dead of night, not one faint hope in sight,
God gracious, tender laid aside His splendor,
Stooping to woo, to win, to save my soul!

Chorus
Oh how I love Him!  How I adore Him!
My breath, my sunshine, my all in all!
The great Creator became my Savior,
And all God's fullness dwelleth in Him!

Without reluctance, flesh and blood His substance,
He took the form of man, revealed the hidden plan;
O glorious myst'ry sacrifice of Calv'ry!
And now I know He is the great "I AM"!

Chorus
Oh how I love Him!  How I adore Him!
My breath, my sunshine, my all in all!
The great Creator became my Savior,
And all God's fullness dwelleth in Him!

Good Morning Folks

I'm going to my brother's surprise birthday party today plus another community even after church this morning so I won't be around much today.

Hope that there are lots of posts for me to read when I get home tonight.

I heard from Norm McKenna and he says that Judy is doing fairly well after her arm surgery.  He's not sure when she'll be home.

Hi everyone.  I will go to church this morning but I am sure Pat won't.  She was just about as miserable yesterday as I have seen her for sometime as she couldn't get the pain under control.  The last few days she has been living on pain pills.  She took a couple of pain pills last night when she went to bed and was able to sleep through the night but woke up with the pain and is sitting with an ice pack on her shoulder.  Sure hope this passes soon as the pain just goes from one area to another.

I was glad to see the word on Judy McKenna and hope she is able to come home soon.  I am sure we all miss her cheerfulness in her posts.

Marilyn, sorry to read that you had slipped and fallen again.

Well, guess I had better move on for today.

Carol

Pat:  What an appropriate devotion for today.

I have not been in here for several days and am sorry to hear about Norm's wife, Larry - your Pat isn't feeling well, and Marilyn had a fall, and Judy McKenna.  My prayers to each of you and others as well.

In listening to news reports on this massive disaster, the blame game has begun.  Such a waste of time and effort and it is so sad when there are so many people working their hearts out.

Carol

Oh Father, hear us as we pray for Larry's Pat.  We pray You'll alleviate this pain, and grant that the cause may quickly be corrected.  Oh heal her, Father, through our Lord Jesus Christ.

I hope your party for your brother is indeed a surprise and a happy time, Pat.

I need to wake up my wife now, and we need to get moving.

Marilyn

Good Morning It is my turn to pray at the front of the church during the service.  We have two people praying throughout the service. I don't like being up front I feel like I am the center oif attention. But this is what I have been called to do so I will do it without compalint.

It has been very quiet here my kids are away for the weekend at something called Tribal Stomp. It is some sort of concert I am sure.

Thank you for the devotion and song this morning Pat.

Larry I am praying for Pat. Also praying for Judy Mc.

I have not gone to our brother's party.  With the price of Gas ($5.78 per US gallon)  we are staying home.  We are thinking twice before going anywhere these days.

We had a wonderful time at church today.  It seems pastor Dennis is getting better every day.  He has today concluded a series on "Knowing the Will of God".  It seems so interesting that this is so basic.  Before knowing God's "unknown" will you have to obey His Known will.  As I think about that it causes me to explore what the "known" will is , remembering it is all in the Bible.  Pretty basic but necessary teaching.

This is the end of summer as we know it and the trees are showing us that.  I do not look forward to summer ending.  The trees have lost their vibrant fgreen and some are showing orange and red.  This is a day we are thinking about turning the furnace on for a bit to take off the chill in the house.  A little early and no wood stockpiled yet.

My heart goes out to the folks down south.  We have been told not to send anything yet.  Many of us would send clothing and furnishings but they are refusing all that.  It is so sad.

Well bye for now.

Love Judy

Wow!  Everyone must be out and about this lovely day.  Church was awesome.  I am tired.  I got to church at 7:15 a.m.  I got the Master tapes and CD's ready and delivered them where they were to go.  Then I printed the labels for two services...one service twice...28 labels and affixed them to the tapes.  Printed next weeks Master labels...3 services..one service twice...four labels.  Then I went up in the mezzanine of the Worship Center and adjusted the lights to ready them for the first service.  At the end of the service, I went to the audio desk and picked up the Master tape and CD.  Then off to the Audio/Visual kiosk.  We can copy 4 tapes at once.  Got them all done and then back to the mezzanine to man the lights for the second service.  Same thing...got the Master tape and CD after the service and even remembered to turn the Master lights switch off.  Back to the A/V kiosk.  The man that helps me was there and he went to the mezzanine in the Christian Live Center for the Master tape and CD.  We only duplicate the first service in the Worship Center...and only been requested a copy of the second service two times in two years.  We had 3 CD's to dupe for The Bridge...the teen service that is in the CLC and duped 16 tapes.  Then a man requested a tape from two weeks ago so printed labels for 4 tapes and duped 4 tapes.  And made 4 more Bridge tapes for today...we ran out...total of 20 tapes for The Bridge.  So it was a busy morning but so fulfilling once you are done.  You feel you made a difference when you hear the people tell you how much the tapes/CD's mean for someone.

That was a long read...but that was my morning.  Then I ate at Arby's and then went to the nursing home to see a church member.  I made a Lapghan this past month and took it to her.  Then to Home Depot.  On the way home, I drove by Jerry's place...his mobile home is still there...I have no idea what those two kids are thinking.  It has been empty 6 months now and it is getting close to being fall and freezing.  Hope they do something...it is still a very nice mobile home.  After that I went to Dollar General and spent a few dollars.  And home.

That's my day!!  I got my $2.99 a gallon gas worth today.

My prayers are for those who are sick and in pain.  God Bless You All.

Janet

I have been reading a little about the history of New Orleans, and it was flooded FOUR times during the very early settlement.  Seems they did not heed the obvious warning NOT to build a city in that bowl below sea level.  Add to that the terrible debauchery and sinfulness flaunted in public there, especially during Mardi Gras; and it was bound to come judgement time.  This is not to say I do not feel compassion for those hurting people--I know many of them are not evil people.  I'm just thinking that we all need to think about what we need to repent of, and pray that this nation turns back to God before it's too late.

We had an awesome service this morning, with three more being added to our church membership.  It is God Who builds His church, adding to it those He calls.  It is a happy time.  And it was wonderful to hear the prayers the pastor prayed for the hurricane victims, for our President and other leaders, and for the man God is now calling to take Judge Rhendquist's place on our Supreme Court.  I do pray we will have a Godly person in that position.

I want to go out to Beth's for an hour and continue working on that huge job.  She will be coming home before it is done if I don't get with it.

Hope you are all having a great day!  And I'm so sorry I missed our sweet Mieka!  :'(  Thanks for telling us her message, Jane.

Oops!  Hi, Etta Sue---what a busy morning you had today!  I'm sure your efforts are appreciated, and I know it pleases our Lord.  Yes, the mobile home has to be winterized, or it will no longer be "very nice!"  And time is fleeting!

Our church and other churches all over the country are involved in supporting and sending aid to the suffering. We sent a big trailer rig full of food, water, supplies to southern Alabama and Mississippi yesterday and have started filling another. We had a special contribution this morning. Also aid is being given to local refugees who have arrived by plane yesterday and today. Tennessee is getting many thousands of these people.

Anyway I am encouraged by the many things being done all over the country to help. But I am saddened by the human suffering of so many. I am reminded of the terrible plight of thousands of refugees in Africa where so many literally starve to death. I wonder if we are doing very much for them.

James 2:14-17
14   What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save him?
15   Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food.
16   If one of you says to him, "Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed," but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it?
17   In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.  (NIV)

Jane, thanks for the word from Mieka.  Mieka, if you check in here, we miss you.  God bless you.   ;D

Eph 2:8-9  For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-- and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-- not by works, so that no one can boast.(NIV)

I so heartily agree with your assessment of the New Oleans situation from a spiritual standpoing, Janet.  We are so used to the immoralism and debauchery in this country that we hardly notice it.  But God notices.  O God, grant merciful repentance before we are stricken again.

Marilyn

The grandkids are comimg to spend thenight so I won't be back on tonight, I am taking them to the Union picnic tomorrow but will try to check in here inthe morning before I go.
