JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Morning Devotional...

Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, My God, why hast Thou forsaken Me?
Matthew 27:46

This piercing cry from the Saviour came from the depths of darkness into which He was plunged.

Oh the anguish of His soul as left alone. He was forsaken by His God! No other person in time or eternity received this humiliating experience.

He took on Him the whole world's sin and, because of this, God abandoned Him to bear it all.

Yes, for us He endured it all!

Have you returned to give Him thanks?
                                                                       --Jim Paul

It pierced the moral universe on high,
upon eternal shores the echoes brake,
That lone, that loud, that lamentable cry:
My God, My God, Why didst Thou Me forsake?

--I. Y. Ewan

Good Morning!  I pray that everyone will realize the sacrifice that Christ made for our Salvation while worshipping in our church homes today.

Late night.  Early morning.  Busy day.  I doubt if I will be back on today.  Church, visiting with Jerry's daughter, funeral visit and then a funeral at 6PM...never heard of that before.  Then probably eat something and come home so Ivalou and I can get up early in the morning and meet a cyberfriend we met in Calgary who is visiting her son down south and wants to have breakfast with us on her way to the airport.   Whew!  Long sentence.  Then Ivalou and I will shop 'til we drop and meet my step-daughter and step-SIL at the airport in the evening and take them home 45 minutes north of me.  So I will be busy, busy.

And it's raining.

So y'all take care, ya hear?

Just jumping in for a moment before I corral Travis and get him dressed for church.

It is another beeee uuuuu tteeeee full day in Western North Carolina.  Maybe i can take some pictures today, or something.

Take care all, and have an awesome Lord's day!

Etta -- you better be careful with all that running around.

Ruth Ann Bice

Well, it's a nice morning here in Nashville. It was raining earlier, but has cleared up, so driving to church will be a joy - no pollen, freshly "laundered" streets, and the expectation of receiving teaching, a blessing, and handshakes and hugs from friends.

What a great way to begin my Sabbath!

Etta Sue, I just read your posting I I am tired just thinking about all you have on your schedule today.  ::)  I also have never heard of a funeral at 6 pm bit see no reason it shouldn't be at that time.

Happy Birthday to Melvin and Mary.

Pat and I will be headed to church in a little while.  The father of our youth minister, who has long been retired, will be our guest minister this morning.  He also taught at Columbia Seminary for many years.  The choir is doing a great anthem this morning, just can't remember the title.  Then we will probably go out to eat with our friends.

Pat, I will try to get Jane, the lady I helped with her computer yesterday, to look at the CP site.  She is a fine Christian lady and know she would have a lot to share of her love of Jesus Christ and her involvement with a Christian Women's Organization.  She was telling my Pat about it on our trip and I overheard some of the conversation.

Judyb, glad you have your pump running again.  It sounds like you will be busy dealing with the bounty from the harvest.  My mother used to can and freeze a lot of food.  There was one jar of pickles left after we closed up their home and they were wonderful but it was a bit sad to know that was the end.  My mother was a wonderful cook and loved to garden.  Unfortunately I didn't get either trait but did marry a wonderful women who is a great cook.

Ruth Ann, we have had beautiful weather all week with clear, crisp mornings.  There is a chance of a little rain later today, which we can use now.

A special hi to Jenny, Ria, and Karmat, who I see have been here today and I look forward to reading many more postings this evening.

Marilyn

A beautiful day here on the lost coast of California. Cool and clear. A perfect day the Lord has made.

The first Sunday of October we go back to the regular schedule of Sunday School at 9:30 and Worship service at 10:30. That means I have to be there at 8:30 for prayer meeting.

We have wonderful prayer meetings before both Sunday services. The Holy Spirit nd the Glory of god are always present.

Going to check the other forums then get ready for church. be back later.

At least I got here a little before bedtime to post the birthday wishes.   :-\  Got them both ready last night and managed to get in a quick stop here before supper.

But horrors!  I just noticed I spelled it Francis instead of Frances.   :-[   Would have been better just to say "Mary", I guess.   However, the wish is sincere.  :-*

And now I've forgotten everything else I wanted to say. :'(

Papa John

#17
We really enjoyed our worship this morning,  With the praise in singing and prayers Jesus was with us and I felt close to God who, as we know, is always near.  In Athens Paul spoke of what God had done and said,   "God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us." Acts 17:27

Last Sunday with our two Sunday morning services we had 1,090 present and I think today we also went over 1,000.  Numbers are not that important but it is encouraging to see God working in the lives of so many.

We have had a restful afternoon.  Cornelia and Martha went walking in the park and I stayed home taking care of the recliner.  It is good to see so many here today.

I hope we can all share the sentiments of Paul in the following verses:

"What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ-- the righteousness that comes from God and is by faith.  I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death," Phil 3:8-10  (NIV)

--- Papa John    ;D          <:))))><<

Eph 2:8-9  For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-- and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-- not by works, so that no one can boast.(NIV)

11.05 P.M.

Dear Papa John,
I was thinking of you earlier on and I do want to thank-you for your encouraging postings.

Wow 1,090 souls...some of our churches hold about 9 - 12 persons in the congregation.

I am praying for more labourers in the harvest in this neighbourhood....so many young people needing the Lord.....such aimless lives.

God bless you and Cornelia and all your loved ones.

Is Mieka around....I hope she is alright.

Good night dear Brothers and sisters on C.P.
See you in the morning....

Jenny.

Papa John, I so appreciate the scriptures you quote here for us.  They are always applicable to our lives, and I thank you.  I am glad you and Cornelia have had a nice day today!

Thanks so much, Papa John for those good words.  It's wonderful how certain verses can be such a blessing at different times.

I'm so glad that you took care of that great recliner.  ;)  I took care of mine as well--after Andrew and Terena left.  I was just so tired, I fell right off to sleep.

Another wonderful Lord's Day with much praise and worship. I am so thankful to our Lord for my salvation and His love for me.

Thank you Papa John for your added words of wisdom and scriptures you wrote here. You always says something of importance to me. You are a blessing to know and a great man of God.

Our prayer meeting are going to increase in number, there have usually been only 4 of us there each meeting. tonight Pastor Dwayn told us that the church leadership will be joining the prayer warriors. I think he has insisted that they come as well.

He also told me that Pastor Oliver from down south has sent my transfer of membership to him and it will be taken to the Deacons meeting this week. He said that Pastor Oliver said they realy missed me and that I would be a benefit to this church as well. How nice of Pastor Oliver.

As for me all I really want is to be more like Jesus every day.

Good Night all See you tomorrow morning.

I've had several days worth of NEM's to catch up on.  You all have been a busy bunch!

Ruthie, I have written you an IM...found your post about People's church so interesting!  We have been there a few times to see their "Living Christmas Tree".  Do they still do that?

Marilyn:  Its great that you have found a new church already, and want to get involved.  That was a nice letter of recommendation that your former Pastor wrote.

This morning we had a very different church service.

There were about 100 Chinese people in attendance.  Our Pastor preached, then a Chinese Pastor translated in the Mandarin language.  Apparently, there is going to be a Chinese church taking part in the Sunday services each Sunday.  I don't know how thats going to work.
"I am too blessed to be stressed".

Hello...after a busy day.  I did find some time to rest even.  It rained until we got to church and stopped.  Then on my way home from Jerry's, it rained.  Beautiful rainbow but the camera was in the back seat.  KDon, Ivalou and I went to the funeral home.  The deceased was a cousin that was 97.  Her mother was our great-aunt.  Nice to know that Dortha is in heaven but sad for the family to say good-bye.  But also nice to see family members.  The funeral service was very poignant and touching.  The burial will be tomorrow for immediate family only.  Just her children and their families.  Then we went out to eat and home by 9PM.  So this is a quick stop in to say Hi and Bye!!!

Got to 'take care of the bed' so I can get up and go again tomorrow.

Ali was glad to see me come home.   ;)

Ruthie

Hi Everyone:

Tonight I was at People's Church again because of their 75th anniversary.  The church was packed to capacity, over 2,000 people.  The main speaker was Stuart Briscoe.  His wife Jill Briscoe is a well known ladies speaker.  He was so interesting.  He is British and usually they are interesting and funny.  He told us about people in his life that had a huge impact on his life.  The first was his mother, who led him to the Lord.

Again the music was amazing. We all sang so heartily that it's a wonder we didn't raise the roof.

God is so good.  We have tribute to O.J. Smith and Paul Smith but ultimately we give praise to Jesus our wonderful Lord and Saviour.  How wonderful one day when we all get together around the Throne and sing and worship Him, the Lamb.

Praise God.

Ruthie
The Lord is my light and my salvation Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
Ps. 27:1

Sounds like a wonderful day, Ruthie!

I went out to my car this morning all ready for church and found that I had left my interior lights on all night so needless to say, my car battery was dead!  I have CAA so called them but by the time they arrived, it was too late to go anywhere!
