Morning Devotional...

Why have I found grace in thine eyes, that thou shouldest take knowledge of me, seeing I am a stranger? Ruth 2:10

These words of Ruth, a Gentile stranger, long ago, could be repeated by any Christian believer today.

Like Ruth, a woman who by nature had no claims on God's covenant with Israel, so we were partakers of Adam's fallen nature, but now we have been brought near to God. Best of all, she came to know and love Boaz, the mighty man of wealth, and hence was overcome with thankfulness.

When we consider that we too have been redeemed by Christ's saving grace, when many all around us are perishing, we might exclaim, "Why have I found grace in Thy sight?"
                                                                         --Robert Steele

Marvelous Grace
(Click to hear music)

Marvelous grace of our loving Lord,
grace that exceeds our sin and our guilt!
Yonder on Calvary's mount outpoured,
there where the blood of the Lamb was spilt.

Chorus:
Grace, grace, God's grace,
grace that will pardon and cleanse within;
grace, grace, God's grace,
grace that is greater than all our sin!

Sin and despair, like the sea waves cold,
threaten the soul with infinite loss;
grace that is greater, yes, grace untold,
points to the refuge, the mighty cross.

Chorus:
Grace, grace, God's grace,
grace that will pardon and cleanse within;
grace, grace, God's grace,
grace that is greater than all our sin!

Dark is the stain that we cannot hide.
What can avail to wash it away?
Look! There is flowing a crimson tide,
brighter than snow you may be today.

Chorus:
Grace, grace, God's grace,
grace that will pardon and cleanse within;
grace, grace, God's grace,
grace that is greater than all our sin!

Welcome back, Pat!  I KNOW you had a good time.  I have already seen photos!  But with the group you were with, you were sure to have a great time.    ;) ;D

Jerry and I are ready for church.  I ran the lights last week for the man that ran the lights for me while I was in Canada.  This week I am running the lights for me.  Jerry is going...he may not sit in the santuary for both services.  But we have a coffee area and tables and chairs.  He can go there and chat with some other members.

It started out a foggy morning but the sun is up and bright now.  Oh, yes!  My son came yesterday and cleaned out my gutters.  I mentioned that the mower that he gave me scares me a little on the first two rounds in my yard.  Bless his heart, he went home...called me and said he was bringing his other mower up and exchanging with me.  This one is a newer mower and I sit lower to the ground.  I love it!!!  May have to buy it off of him....

A Blessed Lord's Day to all

This weekend we have had some rain, I'm sure due to Henri and I am thankful for it.

Our Sunday School lesson is taken from the Beatitudes, Jesus' Sermon on the Mount.  I have always loved these verses and am learning just what this teacher has to tell us in his lesson.  The 'poor in spirit' meaning that I need to recognize myspritirual bankruptcy as essential for entering the kindgom of heaven.

May all of you have a wonderful, wonderful day.

Welcome back Pat  ;) ;) ;)

and HAPPY GRANDPARENT"S DAY to some of us

Just dropping in for a very quick minute as I just got in from church and company may be coming.

Thought that we could sing a song together.

When You Pray
(Click for music)

At the close of the day, when you kneel to pray
Will you remember me?
I need help every day, this is why I pray
Will you remember me?

When you pray, will you pray for me
For I need His love and His care
When you pray, will you pray for me
Will you whisper my name in your prayer

At the close of the day, when I kneel to pray
I will remember you
You need help every day, this is why I pray
And I will remember you

When I pray, I will pray for you
For you need His love and His care
When I pray, I will pray for you
I will whisper your name in my prayer.

At the close of the day, when you kneel to pray
Will you remember me?
I need help every day, this is why I pray
Will you remember me?

When you pray, will you pray for me
For I need His love and His care
When you pray, will you pray for me
Will you whisper my name in your prayer

Hello to all here this afternoon!  I hope you are all having an uplifting day in the Lord.  Welcome home, Pat, how was your little trip?  I will take you up on that offer of having coffee sometime!  And if you need help cleaning out your hutch, I'm here.

I went out with my mom for lunch today, just the two of us and the little ones.  We had a great chat.  With so many kids in the family, sometimes it can be difficult to secure a "solitary" time with her.  But it's worth it when one does come up!

I begin a new course tomorrow on food handling because I applied for a job at a retirement community.  Even if I don't get the job I applied for, the course will be very useful for future possibilities job-wise.  My prayers are with the rest of this family.  God bless you.  Jen.

Ria,

I do apologise for missing posting over the past couple of days.  I have been doing some work for the church.

I had a funny experience that sorts of fits in with the message this morning.  I went to the barber the other day and when the lady had finished cutting my hair (we have lady barbers in the UK) she asked if I wanted some stuff on my hair.  I said no, but she said I ought to have it because it will hide all of the grey.  Well, I chuckled to myself, but it reminded me of some verses from Isaiah:

"Listen to Me, O house of Jacob, and all the remnant of the house of Israel, who have been upheld by Me from birth.  Who have been carried from the womb.  Even to your old age, I am He, and even to gray hairs I will carry you!  I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver you."  Isaiah 46: 3 & 4.

Just like Ruth, we have found grace even though we were strangers and I am glad that it is the grace of God that will follow us right to the very end.

I just thought I would like to share that funny story with you.

Thank you Pat for the songs too.  Yes, how we need to pray for one another today.  I am glad that I don't have to compete with fellow christians, but I rather I can pray for my brothers and sisters.

It is getting near to bed time over here, so God bless and y'all have a good evening.

Anthony.

Hi Anthony!

Grey?  I thought you were my little bro!   Little bro's don't have grey hair!  Only we older CP'ers have grey hair.  HAHAHA!

Thanks for sharing though.  That was great!  I love it when people share scripture with us all.  It's so wonderful to know that our God looks after us even into old age.

Hello Ria!

I used to listen to Jim Reeves a lot.  He passed away so very young.

I've been trying to get caught up on the posts in here and I'm sorry that you are very tired, Papa John.  Stay well, my friend.  Get lots of rest and don't overdo it.  Forget about Cornelia's lists for awhile!  LOL

Thinking about Jane right now.  I expect that the memorial service for Bev is going on right now.

Pat, thank you for reminding us about the memorial service.  It must be very difficult for the whole church at the moment.  We can put the words of the hymn into practice and pray for them during this time.

On my way to church this morning we passed a police notice asking if there were any witnesses to a severe car accident that occured on Saturday morning.  When I arrived at church, the pastor informed us that the man in the car was the son of one of the ladies who attend the church.  He is in intensive care at the moment.  He needs to be moved to a bigger hospital in Birmingham (where Jenny lives) but he is too ill to be moved at the moment.  Perhaps people could pray that he could gain enough strength to get to this other hospital so that he can get the best treatment available.

Thanks for listening to that request.

Anthony.

JudyB

Anthony that is too bad about the young man.  I will be praying.

To everyone else I say, have a good day, and enjoy the beautiful wweather we are having.  Here isn the north it is still over 70 degrees F amd bright and sunny.  We have yet to have our first frost, so the trees are still green.  The geese are not moving south from here yet and the squirrels are not too busy.  Looks like a late winter.  Perhaps with all the rain we have had there will be less snow.  The evenings are quite cool, not cold yet, and that makes for good sleeping weather.

Bye for now,
JudyB

Elizabeth

Hi to all.  Enjoyed the devotional and music Pat.  Could not get to church this morning.  Sometimes not well.  I went golfing with Al yesterday (against better judgement).  He is fighting so hard against the weakness that is taking over his body.  I try to help him not give up....hard when one is also not feeling great.  Certain that he will soon not be able to do physical activities.  He is growing weaker every day.  I pray that God will give me the health to see him thro' this and be there till the end.  His other friends are not Christians and that bond isn't there.

We had some rain last night and this morning and I hope there will be more...The island is very dry and we need cooler temps. and moisture.

This is an especially nice place to come on Sunday when not able to get to church.  Love the music and hearing about people's day.  Great sites Chris & Margit.  Loved your site Jeanne Lee and sent it to a friend in my email this morning.

Take care all and God Bless, Liz.

Jeanne Lee

Anthony, I hope they're able to find witnesses to that accident.

A lovely autumn day - sunny and cool.  Won't be long now before the colors are ready for photos.  :-)

Hello to all. Had a wonderful service at church this morning, went to taco bell after church and picked up some food to bring home and eat. Then I worked on  some photos for the challenge but had to send them to Pat to compress for me. All except one.

Raining here when we got out of church and still raining some. Looks like the sun just might peek out a little bit now.

I am very pleased with the  church here. I am getting to know the people.

Marilyn, so sorry that I didn't answer yesterday...probably outside with Tony...he traded lawn mowers with me and that was the only time Jerry was outside also.  But, thank God, we were home today so Jerry could talk to you.  I sent you an email.

Jerry and I were at both services today.  I worked the lights today.  The sermon was on Jonah and how our life today is similar to Jonah...how God sends us trials and problems when we disobey Him.  We all had to laugh when David read about the big fish vomiting Jonah on dry land and David said he got this vivid picture of this huge fish regurgitating Jonah.  Said the fish didn't 'skip' Jonah, he 'heaved' Jonah way in the air so he would land on dry land and not the water.  David pictures weird things sometimes but that is what the Bible states.  Just glad that God doesn't hand out problems that involves being inside of a big fish often!!!

Jerry sat in the coffee area the second service and talked with friends.  Then we went to El Rodeo for lunch.  Then picked up his mail.  We were both tired and took a nap when we got back here.  Marilyn, that was probably why I thought you were my cousin...I hadn't been awake very long when the phone rang... ::)

President Bush is on TV....I don't know why!

God Bless All of You!!!

Good Evening Everyone...

Anthony, I certainly hope that they get a witness or witnesses to that accident.  How awful!

Glad you liked the music, Ruthie.

Hi to JudyB, Ria and Jeanne!

Elizabeth, did you see where I asked you if you painted and if you have any photos if you do?  Glad you found the devotional and music posted today a blessing to you.

I'm so happy that you are able to help Jerry, Etta Sue.  Please let him know that we're continuing to pray for him.

Bless you, PAT and ANTHONY, for thinking of our church community today, and for the scriptures and songs.  The church was packed out...standing room only...and there were pastors and people from many churches (even a Catholic priest), gathered together to pay tribute to our Pastor Bev.  This has long been a prayer of Ron and Bev: that there would be unity among the believers of this community.  This prayer was answered today, and we are anticipating this is only the beginning.  Bev always believed that her journey with cancer and the witness of her faith would be the catalyst for just such unity.  None of us could have anticipated it would take her death to bring it about.   :-\  I will share with you the article from the obituary page in our newspaper.  There will be a photo of Bev forthcoming...I promise!  ;)
