Don: Hey Judy, It's been a long time. Hope you are doing well. 2024-12-02, 22:41:41

JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Oldiesmann: So sorry for your loss Carol. Praying for you and your family :( 2022-05-01, 17:13:05

Joy: A Very Real Force

"The joy of the Lord is your strength."
(Nehemiah 8:10)
[/b][/color]

Joy. It's not a warm, happy feeling you're supposed to have now and then when things are going well. It's much more than that. Joy is one of the most powerful spiritual forces in the world.

Look again at Nehemiah 8:10 and I'll show you why. If you were to diagram that scripture and remove the phrase, "of the Lord," you would find what it's truly saying is this: Joy is strength. The two are interchangeable.

That's what makes joy so crucial. You can't live a life of faith without being strong in the Lord--and when God wants to make you strong, joy is what He uses to do the job!

Joy is not just a state of mind. It is not a fleeting emotion. Joy is a very real force, and the devil doesn't have anything that can stand up against it. Just as fear has to yield to faith, discouragement has to yield to joy.

Since joy is one of the fruits of the Holy Spirit, you already have it residing within you. But you must develop it, confess it, and live by it if you want to enjoy its power.

Whatever circumstances you are facing today, you can be full of joy. You can be strong in the Lord. You can draw on the supply of the Holy Spirit within you and come out on top.

Rejoice!

I am reminded of the old saying
J esus
O thers
Y ourself

by putting Jesus first (on top) the rest of joy follows
You might be a dog lover if:
You have more dog toys in your bed than people.

Janet

Trying again----I wrote a post, but when I tried to post, I got Page not Found.....and of course the post disappeared. :-\

I wanted to add the song "The Joy of the Lord is My Strength" today, but it doesn't seem to be on our lists.  I'm sure you all know it, anyway, so just sing away!!  ;) ;D

Just for grins, here are the rest of the eleven year olds' answers on science exams:

Before giving a blood transfusion, find out if the blood is affirmative or negative."

"To remove dust from the eye, pull the eye down over the nose."   (Ouch!)

"For a nosebleed:  Put the nose much lower than the body until the heart stops."

"For asphyxiation:  Apply artificial respiration until the patient is dead."

"For head cold:  Use an agonizer to spray the nose until it drops in your throat."

Now, like the girls said above, I must get some work done!

Pastoral Ministry: A Different Man in the Pulpit

You are witnesses, and God also, how devoutly and justly and
blamelessly we behaved ourselves among you who believe....
--1 Thessalonians 2:10

I am afraid of the pastor that is another man when he enters the
pulpit from what he was before. Reverend, you should never think
a thought or do a deed or be caught in any situation that you
couldn't carry into the pulpit with you without embarrassment.
You should never have to be a different man or get a new voice
and a new sense of solemnity when you enter the pulpit. You
should be able to enter the pulpit with the same spirit and the
same sense of reverence that you had just before when you were
talking to someone about the common affairs of life. Worship:
The Missing Jewel of the Evangelical Church, 29.

"Lord, help me to be a man of impeccable integrity. Give me the
grace to be the same man, whether in the pulpit, in a board
meeting, caught in rush hour traffic, or at dinner with my wife.
Amen."

sarah

Jim

I think I'm going to have to hold my nose lower than my body till my heart stops...  Sounds like a good idea  :o

Hope you all are having a good day.  I'm looking at sunshine mixed in with the clouds, so I'm going back outside to see more!

Jim

Ruth Ann Bice

Hey, Jim! Take care of yourself - Tbear, you too.

Because of really icy roads and 3-4 hour backups on the roads, I stayed home and worked. I got a good bit done, since I can connect to the network. But, now it's 3:30 and my boss has to have something that requires a screen capture. And, of course, the presentation is tomorrow morning in Ohio! The laptop does not have a monitor attached to it here at home, so, off I am to the wars.  :P

The weather has cleared and roads are not icy any more.

I wish I could remain home 30 more minutes. The news media has info to play at 4 about a girl I've prayed for to either be found or return home from her long, long absence. Poor Tabitha's family! Maybe it will be on the radio when I get to work.

Y'all have a great day.

Forgot to comment on both Janet's devotional and the great acronym. I've tried to live by that principle all my life.

Well I am home from work since 11:30 and Fay has told me not to come out in the rain to go back to work this afternoon. So I have been busy hered at home doing somethings that needed doing.

I have let down 6 pairs of pants, pressed them all, created my today's PSP Tube and graphic for Masters nd now sat down here to read for a bit, look at photos ann prayer for those who need prayer.

Janet, Pat's internist thinks it is a a lapoma (sp), i.e., non-malignant fatty tumor.  The surgeon wasn't sure what it is and wants more tests and possibly a biopsy.  She has one very large growth and under it another is getting pretty large.  It is causing her a lot of pain.  Very good devotional today.  Janet, I look forward to seeing your new photos in  a few minutes.

Marilyn, thanks for the prayers for Pat.

Pat, hope you had a nice safe trip home today.  We had a covering of snow when I left for coffee and it melted off and then again in midmorning it covered the ground again but again didn't last.  No problem with the roads.  Now the sun is out.

SmokeytheDog, that is a nice saying and so true.

designtrade, hope you get your work done today.  I know how easy it is for the hours to slip away and not to get done what I wanted to accomplish.

Sonja, after you finish organizating your paperwork, I could use a hand in getting my paperwork organized.  Of course, after I do organize it I can't find anything for awhile.

Karmat, is Travis a lot of help with the new baby?

Tbear, so sorry to read that you have taken a bad cold.  However it sounds like you are taking the right actions in getting a lot of rest.

Hi Joyce, hope the snow doesn't stay on too long.

Chris, thanks for the Tozar piece today and your continued ministry with the photos and scripture verses.

Sarah, it sounds like you are pretty hard on yourself.  Take care of yourself.

Jim, that sun does look good doesn't it.  We also have some today after several days of cloudy and wet weather.

Ruth Ann, glad you were able to work from home.  Perhaps you could encourage your boss to let you work at home a couple of days a week.  I worked at home for about 18 months before I retired.  With a fax machine, computer and highspeed line (and perhaps webcams at both ends) you probably could very effectively work at home.  I finally had to give that up as well and go ahead and retire on disability but I did enjoy it and it extended my work life.  I was doing staff work and special projects and usually went to the office on Friday morning for half a day or if there was a special need.

Hope everyone has a nice evening.  I just got back from the "Y" and then had to go and do grocery shopping so am about worn out.  I don't have to go anywhere tonight.

Pat

Well, I got home from Ian's this afternoone.

We had a few things to do on Photography Cafe to have it's official Launch and now I'm all done.  But my car is out on the road.

it snowed so much that I can't get the car in off the road so will have to try and figure out that.

Talk to you a little later.

Thanks Janet...Great devotional.

I had lots of time to pray last night while at my son's home.  What a night.  Anyway, this hymn I hummed most of the night.

Sweet Hour of Prayer
(Click to hear music)

Pray continually.
1 Thessalonians 5:17

Words: William Walford, 1845; appeared in The New York Observer, September 13, 1845, accompanied by the following, written by Thomas Salmon:

During my residence at Coleshill, Warwickshire, England, I became acquainted with W. W. Walford, the blind preacher, a man of obscure birth and connections and no education, but of strong mind and most retentive memory.

In the pulpit he never failed to select a lesson well adapted to his subject, giving chapter and verse with unerring precision and scarcely ever misplacing a word in his repetition of the Psalms, every part of the New Testament, the prophecies, and some of the histories, so as to have the reputation of "knowing the whole Bible by heart."

He actually sat in the chimney corner, employing his mind in composing a sermon or two for Sabbath delivery, and his hands in cutting, shaping and polishing bones for shoe horns and other little useful implements. At intervals he attempted poetry.

On one occasion, paying him a visit, he repeated two or three pieces which he had composed, and having no friend at home to commit them to paper, he had laid them up in the storehouse within.

"How will this do?" asked he, as he repeated the following lines, with a complacent smile touched with some light lines of fear lest he subject himself to criticism. I rapidly copied the lines with my pencil, as he uttered them, and sent them for insertion in the Observer, if you should think them worthy of preservation.

Music: William B. Bradbury, Golden Chain (New York: 1861)

Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
That calls me from a world of care,
And bids me at my Father's throne
Make all my wants and wishes known.
In seasons of distress and grief,
My soul has often found relief
And oft escaped the tempter's snare
By thy return, sweet hour of prayer!

Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
The joys I feel, the bliss I share,
Of those whose anxious spirits burn
With strong desires for thy return!
With such I hasten to the place
Where God my Savior shows His face,
And gladly take my station there,
And wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer!

Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
Thy wings shall my petition bear
To Him whose truth and faithfulness
Engage the waiting soul to bless.
And since He bids me seek His face,
Believe His Word and trust His grace,
I'll cast on Him my every care,
And wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer!

Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
May I thy consolation share,
Till, from Mount Pisgah's lofty height,
I view my home and take my flight:
This robe of flesh I'll drop and rise
To seize the everlasting prize;
And shout, while passing through the air,
"Farewell, farewell, sweet hour of prayer!"

I'm feeling good tonight because I got a lot of work done today.  I had some framing jobs waiting, and had not been able to contact one customer to see what she wanted.  She called and now I have everything matted and all the frames ordered.  YIPPEE!!

Pat, I'm glad you made it home safely.  Please take care of yourself and don't you DARE go out and try to shovel that snow, you hear me???  God will send someone by to help you, I feel sure of it.  If I were there, it would be me.

Ruth Ann, glad you got to work at home, for a while, anyway.  Stay safe!  Glad you got your meds adjusted and am praying that your health will keep on improving.

Chris, great words today from Tozer.  Thanks!  And you found the song, too!  Good on 'ya!

Sarah, you do beat yourself up a lot!  How about taking it a bit easier?  ;)

Larry, thanks for the way you always address so many of us individually.  You're a great friend and a wonderful brother in the Lord.  I appreciate you!

Marilyn, you want to come and do some alterations and some mending for me?  That's a job I am bad about putting off till another day.

I think I will go see if anyone looked at my pictures.  See you later!

Larry, I will continue to pray for Pat.  Tumors are not fun, anywhere or anytime!  :(

Here is a grin for you---can any of you relate?

One of my fourth graders asked my teacher's assistant, "How old are you, Mrs. Glass?" "You should never ask an adult's age," I broke in. "That's okay." Harriett smiled. "I'm fifty." "Wow, you don't look that old," the boy said. I was breathing a sigh of relief when another child chimed in, "Parts of her do."

Thanks, JANET.  I've enjoyed all your photos and especially these latest.  I know how proud you must be of your grandsons and their achievements and who can blame you?  They're wonderful young people and examples of hope for our future.
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Thanks Janet...  "Someone" did come and dig my driveway!  It was nice but just wish I could say "Thanks"!
