Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father.
John 16:28

Eternity to eternity in twenty-two words!

Our Saviour was without beginning and is without end.

The One who was wrapped in swaddling clothes and laid in a manger was the Son of God who came forth from the Father.

He lived a perfect life and died the death of the cross.

But praise and thank God, that was not the end. He rose again and left the world and went to the Father.

He lives in the power of an endless life. One day He is coming for us to be with Him for eternity.

It could be today!
--John M. Clegg

Thou Art the Everlasting Word
(Click to hear music)

J. Condor (1789-1855)

Thou art the Everlasting Word,
The Father's only Son,
God manifestly seen and heard,
The heaven's beloved One;

Chorus:
Worthy, O Lamb of God, art Thou,
That every knee to Thee should bow!

In Thee, most perfectly expressed
The Father's glories shine:
O the full Deity possessed,
Eternally divine!

Chorus:

True image of the Infinite,
Whose essence is concealed;
Brightness of uncreated light,
The heart of God revealed.

Chorus:

But the high myst'ries of His Name
An angel's grasp transcend;
The Father only (glorious claim!)
The Son can comprehend.

Chorus:

Yet loving, Thee, on whom His love
Ineffable doth rest,
Thy members all, in Thee, above,
As one with Thee are blest!

Chorus:

Throughout the universe of bliss,
The centre Thou, and Sun,
Th'eternal theme of praise is this,
To heaven's beloved One.

Chorus:

Hi Pat!
I have been reading posts in NEM for 3/9/04 and just now got this far.
Hope you are feeling better.
Love, Janice
This is the day the Lord has made, we will rejoice and be glad in it.   Ps 118:24

It is snowing again... if it was not always so cold and overcast for so long!!!

Our house in Spain gets 350 days of sunny weather a year, it is a real shame we cannot get out there more often. The bad weather gets on top of us when it takes so long to clear up.  In many places there is a few days reprieve between cold spells but 5 months non stop is ridiculous.

My wife Carol has a birthday tomorrow, so if you ladies have any tips on how I can spoil her let me know.  I cannot take her to a restaurant because she counts her calories  :) and she will assume the box of chocs are for me :-[

Jenny

U.K.  9.30 a.m.

Pat.  Hello dear one.  I pray you feel a bit better today.  A bad cold is so lowering.
May "The joy of the Lord be your strength" Amen.

Thank you also dear sister for your kindness in posting a devotional despite feeling poorly.Thank-God for Our Jesus, for His finishing of His work. Such a perfect work. May we all finish our work for Him and be with Him in Glory...Amen.

Gareth. Hello brother. For me it's flowers every time.,with as much colour and perfume as possible.  Even a small bunch of freesias is a joy to me. You can also have a basket of fruit delivered from some flower shops or fruiterers. Marks and Spencer's do them also Tesco. No need to worry about cholesterol  then ...

Ria Hallo dear.  Hope Marcel is much improved today anmd that your computer problems are sorted out.

I had a wonderful surprise last night.  My Great Niece Sophie popped up on "Buddies" and we talked for over an hour.  She's 13.  She and my niece Claire's family are staying at my sister's home to look after the kennels for her and Roy while they have a holiday. They have a boarding kennels and they also breed Springer spaniels., so there is much to do.

A very cold morning here in Birmingham.  No sign of the sun.
Not to worry, we have the "Son" in our hearts.

Love you all.
Jenny.

Good Morning All!!!!

Monty ~ I see you are from Southern Indiana.  I am Central Indiana, about 25 miles northeast of Indy.  I have several unknown relatives in Scott county.  Are you from around there?

Kim ~ I see you are almost a Hoosier...near the Wabash and fairly close to Evansville!

We keep getting members from around here and we can have a mini-bash of CPers!!!

Pinkie ~ It took me a little while to get the joke also.  Also, I am retired from electronics...nothing to do with computers...but I am not afraid of computers.  I just try to remember what I did so if it didn't work, I can put it back the way it was.   ::)

Today is Dentist day.  I am all psyched up in telling him...No, I am not going to have two crowns put in my mouth.  No, I am not going to have a bridge put in my mouth.  No, I am not going to have old fillings taken out and new ones put in my mouth.  I don't have that kind of money to put into my mouth plus, if it doesn't hurt, don't fix it!!

Etta Sue...

I agree with you  the old adage over here is  "if it isn't broken do not mend it"....Posh eh?  Just semantics! Have you ever seen a poor dentist Etta Sue?  I hope all goes well for you.

Love Jenny  ;)

Sonifo

Gareth, clean and do the laundry.  Give her a bell, so when ever she wants something she can ring the bell and you can get it for her.  ;D While she sits and reads a book or something.

Happy Birthday, Gareth wife!

Oh my, Etta Sue!  You go girl.  No sense in making things worse.  I don't like shots they give when they do feel in a cavity.  I refuse! The last shot they gave me it made me have lock jaw and I was sore for a week.  >:(  Good luck.  I have to go to the dentist at 10:20 this morning too.

Hi Jenny!

Hi Ria, thank you for the kind comment about Lila Mae.  Kids can be pretty funny sometimes.

Morning Pat, Sarah and Janice!

I got to go for now.

Soni Hello dear.  Where's our dear friend Zach?
Before you ask I haven't been scooting.  too cold and much too dark looking.  It keeps trying to snow.

Well I am off now to make a cup of "hot" tea...and let our Marilyn get on board...hopefully!

Good morning!

Etta Sue, you are right, we are only 7 miles from the Indiana border, at New Harmony.  I go to Evansville when I have to visit a mall, since it's only about an hour away.

Good luck on the dentist, Etta Sue and Sonifo!  Dentists make me shake in my boots.

Ria, sorry to hear about your back.  I hope it gets better!

Gareth, I agree with the previous suggestions for gifts.  And, I'll add one...something sparkly!

Hi everyone!  I had a bit of trouble with the DSL connection in my brother's home yesterday so I was unable to get online.  I got it all sorted out today tho.

I have taken to heart all that everyone said about telemarketers.  Even tho I must answer to 2 objections in a call, I generally don't push as hard as I was.  I figure, the sales that I have been getting anyway, have been really easy...the person I was talking to simply said that the timing was perfect and they had been wanting a cell phone, so I am still going to run into those people, even if I don't push as hard on the people that immediately say "I'm not interested".  I hope all of that makes some kind of sence, because I am saying all of that, to say this.....thank you for your honesty.  I have always been a person who although I haven't been interested in what a telemarketer has been selling, I quietly sit and listen, just so I don't come across rude or impatient.  Every one who commented on this subject however gave me an alternate way of seeing things, and I thank you.

Anyway, I need to run, so I can start getting ready for work.  I will check in before I leave for the night.

Love to all
Heather

Hi everyone.  I was reading the messages earlier and then had a phone call from a man I had served on the Board at the SeniorNet Learning Center with and we talked for well over an hour.  His wife has Alzheimer's and is now in an assisted living home but doing well there.  Since my my mother had also been institutionalized with what we believe was Alzheimer's, we have a lot in common as well as our interests in our computer learning center.  I hadn't talked with him for a long while.

Welcome to Monty.  It is nice to see you already posting and sharing your thoughts.  I look forward to seeing your photos.

Gareth, it sounds like you have been given some pretty sound advice on what to get for your wife for her birthday.  Flowers always seem to go over well.  Currently I cannot give flowers to my wife as our cat keeps eating them if they are left down where they can be enjoyed.  In fact, yesterday at her painting class the instructor had given them each a little paper cup with two blooming pansies so they could paint a picture of a pansy.  She brought it home and last night she brought it in to show me and the cat had eaten one of the two blooms.  Just the stem was still there.  Several years ago we had a lovely shamrock plant and had had it for several years.  One day we looked at it and all the shamrock leaves were gone and we just had a planter full of stems.  We set it up and they grew back and it wasn't too long that the cat got to the plant again and once again eat early leaf.  Needless to say we just gave up on the shamrock.

Can't think of much to write today so will stop for now.  Good to see everyone posting.

Hello everyone.  A cool, crisp sunny day here in Western NC.  I'm at work, but I will try to pop in sometime later, after I get some paper work done. :-\

Take care all

Pat

Hi Everyone!

Great to get in here and read your messages to one another.

Gareth...Flowers every time for me.  I love flowers and just loved getting them from Jack on all of our special occasions.
HAHAHA!  I love Soni's suggestion of giving her a bell! LOL

I see Jenny thinks the same as I do...flowers and the ones with the most scent.

Great to have you in here reading our  messages, Janice!  Hope you and hubby are coping with all of your trials.

Etta Sue, you WILL be able to have a little CP Bash in your area soon.  But could me in if you do!  LOL

Sarah, enjoy your day at school.  Talk to you when you get home tonight.

Ria, what a lovely poem today...  I like it so much, I'm repeating it again...

Give me a spirit of thankfulness, Lord,
For numberless blessings given;
Blessings that daily come to me
Like dewdrops falling from from Heaven.

Love your little mice, Kim!  I've been going to the Dental College for over a year now but I'm nearly finished.

Well, I have two weeks of lessons to complete by March 13 in my Paint Shop Pro classes...  :o  I better get at them.

Hi Heather...  glad you are making sales in your job.  I was thinking of you this morning...  I had 4 telemarketing calls to my home!!! :o ;D

Larry, my cat used to eat the plants all the time.  I was in the pet store and they had a pot of grass growing there called "cat grass" and I bought it for her.  I yell "NO!" whenever she goes near my plants but encourage her to eat her own and it seems to be working now.

Hi Karma!  Don't work too hard today.  What happens with Trav when you work?  Do you have a babysitter you take him to?

Hi again to all,

Been very busy and when I had some time to come and chat ; my server started "acting up" and I couldn't.

Been busy looking around and trying to play catch up.

Hi to Monty--just noticed your post and I am pleased to see you here--this group is pretty decent group to hang out with and as Lee said --stay and join in.

Lee, glad you are here--I was trying to leave to come to work this morning, and we were stopped by JW at the door.  My husband always speak to them and they come back to hear more and more of his words. He really gives them the best biblical knowledge that he possess and they reallly seem to listen.

When I had to walk away and take a cell phone call--I heard them saying "but God is Jehovah to them--and they feel that Jesus was created by GOD and HE was there from the beginning-not created after the fall of man -they also hold literally
that Jesus is sitting at the right hand of GOD and I had to leave--

She was very passionate but also saw my love and passion for my Saviour coming through --I quietly explained that since I have Jesus Christ as my own personal saviour living inside of me; it is easier to discern HIS messages from the bible the way He wants me to discern them to better serve HIM for the reason He created me.

But she kept stressing that Jesus and GOD are separate people NOT the trinity as we know.

Anyone, what would have been your comment to that??

Really interested in knowing: I will talk to my hubby later and see what he said.

Going around forum --be back later.

Take care and as always,

Love in Christ,
JOycc

Jenny

Be careful of that Firewall Marilyn...it messed my puter up so much..slowed it down.  I had to buy McAfee Firewall Plus.  Its the only software I have paid for on the advice of my Manufacturer.

QuoteBy Joyce~But she kept stressing that Jesus and GOD are separate people NOT the trinity as we know.

I can see how this lady feels this way.  Some questions I have asked myself.  Why would Jesus pray to himself?  Why is Jesus called God's son?
It sure can be confusing.

I always give the J.Ws my blessing and tell them that I belong to the local church., which I do.

One thing which Reachout advised is to always bring the Holy Spirit into the conversation...they will either disappear fast or try to convict you otherwise...

I pray that Holy Spirit will convict them...

Cliff Richard was on the radio recently and he said we had better be prepared  ...there will be folks in  Heaven we dont expect...and he said we will see J.Ws in Heaven...and some of the folks we do expect won't be there....

"He who does not have the Son does not have the Father".....makes it difficult to accept Cliff's words.

I had some good neighbours in my old home who were J.Ws....they agreed to differ with me.

Bye...again..
Jenny.

Oh, by the way,

I saw postings on BPV --Marilyn, Lee and Janice--I was diagnosed with that syptom around 40 years ago.

Doctor prescribed Meclizine --(antihistimine--spelling??)but condition comes and goes--around ten years ago another bad attack and new doctor --still prescribed meclizine.

My employee had a bad spell and he was diagnosed with it and prescribed meclizine, too.

I know the medicine works but you would think by now there would be more info on BPV-Benign Positional Vertigo.

I am like Janice; I learned how to move around and not sit too long in one spot --always focus straight ahead, etc. --good advice.

Other advice I was given ;  not too much caffine or salty foods--seems like its a circulation or water build up in inner ear.

That is why , I admire Janet, who can go scuba diving--I think my ears would cause a problem; same as flying.

Love in Christ,

Joyce

Hi Jenny,

Thanks for your emails--very helpful.

Yes, Sonja and Jenny, it can be confusing when they speak--my hubby kept quoting out of Ephesians--when you speak to someone about your beliefs and they want to stretch their beliefs on you; to dust yourself off and move away and do not take anything from them.

They looked at him strangely.

They looked at me even more strange when I said that I am a Christian--I believe that Jesus was born , died and was resurrected for my sins for me.--
When GOD saw how evil man was; HE loved us so very much that HE send HIS only son (that confused them--they kept saying his first born son)--and when HE walked this earth; HE was called Jesus. Now Jesus could not stay and he absolutely loved us so very much that HE left us a comforter (they said conscience) I said NO--lets name it like it is --HE left us the HOLY SPIRIT living inside of us so HE may discern for us HIS messages.

You are so right, they would not talk about the Holy Spirit at all--.

I know it can be confusing but remember each and every one of us has been created by HIM to be special in HIS eyes; for each one of us to have a purpose and plan in our lives--yes, we are different--but it comes down to following HIM and discerning HIS messages individually to us to better serve HIM.

I can't think of a better way to live--serving the one who created me, died for me and will spend my eternity with.

Love in Christ,
Joyce

WELL!!!!!!!, IV'E SEARCHED THE SCRIPTURES AND I JUST CANT FIND THIS ANYWHERE!!!! :)

Three Rednecks just died,
and arrive at the Pearly Gates of Heaven.
St. Peter tells them that they can enter the gates
if they can answer one simple question.

St Peter asks the first Redneck,
"WHAT IS EASTER?"

The Redneck replies, "Oh, that's easy,
it's the holiday in November when
everybody gets together,
eats turkey, and is thankful..."

"WRONG," replies St. Peter,
and proceeds to ask the second Redneck
the same question,
"WHAT IS EASTER?

The second Redneck replies,
"No, Easter is the holiday in December
when we put up a nice tree, exchange presents,
and celebrate the birth of Jesus."

St. Peter looks at the second Redneck,
shakes his head in disgust,
looks at the third Redneck and asks,
"WHAT IS EASTER?"

The third Redneck smiles and looks St. Peter in the eye.

"I know what Easter is.
Easter is the Christian holiday that coincides with
the Jewish celebration of Passover.
Jesus and his disciples were eating
at the last supper
and Jesus was later deceived
and turned over to the Romans
by one of his disciples.
The Romans took him
to be crucified and he was
stabbed in the side, made to wear a crown of thorns,
and was hung on a cross with nails through his hands.
He was buried in a nearby cave
which was sealed off by a large boulder."

St. Peter smiles broadly with delight.

The third Redneck continues,
"Every year the boulder is moved aside
so that Jesus can come out... and, if he sees his shadow,
there will be six more weeks of winter."

Pastoral Ministry: Fencing With Masters

For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but
according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they
will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears
away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.
--2 Timothy 4:3-4

Every one who has come to the years of responsibility seems to have
gone on the defensive. Even some of you who have known me for years
are surely on the defensive--you have your guard up all the time!

I know that you are not afraid of me, but you are afraid,
nevertheless, of what I am going to say. Probably every faithful
preacher today is fencing with masters as he faces his congregation.
The guard is always up. The quick parry is always ready.

It is very hard for me to accept the fact that it is now very rare
for anyone to come into the house of God with guard completely down,
head bowed and with the silent confession: "Dear Lord, I am ready
and willing to hear what You will speak to my heart today!"

We have become so learned and so worldly and so sophisticated and
so blase and so bored and so religiously tired that the clouds of
glory seem to have gone from us.  Christ the Eternal Son, 108-109.

"Lord, quiet my own heart before You and give me that humble spirit
of listening. Whenever I come before You (including this morning!),
may it be with my 'guard completely down, head bowed.... ready and
willing to hear what You will speak to my heart today.' Amen."
