Morning Devotional...

That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God.
. . they remembered. . . he remembered. . . They remembered not.

Psalm 78:7, 35, 39, 42

We are all guilty of short-term memory loss from time to time.

"This do in remembrance of me" was given to the Church because we are prone to forgetfulness.

He who chooses not to remember our sins against us any more, has asked us to take time on a weekly basis to meet with the saints in worship and remembrance.

The fact that,"He will ever be mindful of his covenant" (Ps. 111:5) guarantees our acceptance at His table.

Don't forget the One who died on Calvary's cross to cleanse you from all your sin!

Gathered to Thy name, Lord Jesus[/u]

Words by C. A. Wellesley

Gathered to Thy name, Lord Jesus,
Losing sight of all but Thee,
Oh, what joy Thy presence gives us,
Calling up our hearts to Thee!

Loved with love which knows no measure
Save the Father's love to Thee,
Blessed Lord, our hearts would treasure
All the Father's thoughts of Thee.

All His joy, His rest, His pleasure,
All His deep delight in Thee;
Lord, Thy heart alone can measure
What Thy Father found in Thee.

How He set His love upon Thee,
Called Thee His beloved Son;
Yet for us He did not spare Thee,
By Thy death our life was won.

Oh, the joy, the wondrous singing
When we see Thee as Thou art,
Thy blest name, Lord Jesus, bringing
Sweetest music to God's heart!

Notes of gladness, songs unceasing,
Hymns of everlasting praise,
Psalms of glory, joy increasing,
Through God's endless day of days!

Pastoral Ministry: Supernatural Energies

But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall
mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary,
they shall walk and not faint.
--Isaiah 40:31

It is possible to work far beyond the normal strength of the human
constitution and yet experience little or no fatigue because the
energy for the work has been provided, not by the burning up of
human tissue, but by the indwelling Spirit of power. This has been
realized by a few unusual souls, and the pity is that they are
unusual.

Attention has recently been focused upon the fact that ministers
suffer a disproportionately high number of nervous breakdowns
compared with other men. The reasons are many, and for the most part
they reflect credit on the men of God. Still I wonder if it is all
necessary. I wonder whether we who claim to be sons of the new
creation are not allowing ourselves to be cheated out of our
heritage. Surely it should not be necessary to do spiritual work in
the strength of our natural talents. God has provided supernatural
energies for supernatural tasks. The attempt to do the work of the
Spirit without the Spirit's enabling may explain the propensity to
nervous collapse on the part of Christian ministers.  The Size of
the Soul, 184-185.

"Lord, today I pray for that pastor who is about to give up and quit
from sheer exhaustion (as I write I think of the close friend
suffering with cluster headaches, exacerbated by the stress of
heavy responsibility). For my friend, and any others, give that
supernatural enabling. Amen."

Good Morning everyone.  Am ready for church this morning but it is still a couple of hours away.  The sun in shining and it is warmer than it has been for awhile.

Janet, I wish you could visit us and hear the Messiah also.  We will have paid soloists and a small orchestra, mainly strings, to help us.  I am really looking forward to it and it is coming together nicely.  Our choir director is a professional musician and certainly knows how to bring things all together.  We will be singing at the late service next Sunday.

Today is a big day in our church, as I mentioned yesterday.  We install our new senior pastor.  He has been here since early January and is already making a significant impact.  His preaching is powerful and I understand he is also a good Bible teacher.  We did have some very unpleasant news this week when our youth pastor's wife was diagnosed with stage 2 endrometial cancer.  She is only 42 years old and they have two young children.  Also my good friend, who had the stent put into his heart about 10 days ago, had to go back into the hospital and have another stent put in.

Marilyn, nice to read you had such a good time with the red hatters.  It is fun to be a part of a group like that, I am sure.

Pat, it sounds like you had a nice visit and a nice meal out.  Just hope you were up to all that.

Hope everyone will have a nice day.

Larry,

I had cancer 5 years ago. Chemo didn't work, and at the Lord's leading, we used Laetrile with an accompanying diet to treat the cancer. (I was basically given a death sentence by my doctors...life expectancy of months, maybe weeks in Feb of 2001).
I am alive and very well. Here is a link to where you can get the book "Alive and Well" by Dr. Philip Binzel (which explains the whole diet and the use of Laetrile):

P.S. The cancer didn't do that to my face, that's a result of being a crazy fan of the Cincinnati Bengals. I took that picture after painting my face to watch a game at home. When we went to see them play in 2003, my wife wouldn't let me do that in public.
Trust in God, and He shall bring it to pass.

Nice to see you posting in here, Cincinnati Bengal Tiger fan!  LOL  Daniel, I'm happy that your cancer is gone.  That's great news.  Thanks for the links.

Etta Sue, I am so sorry to hear about Jerry again.  I just got back and read your email.  I will be praying for you all.  Tell Jerry to be strong and that I am thinking of him.

Chandraya won 1st place with her solo performance.  It was awesome.  I am so proud of her.  Of course I would be proud if she took last too. :)

I am going to lay down and try to get some sleep.

Janet

Well, congratulations to little sweetheart Chandraya!!!  All of us grandmas and grandpas here are proud of you, too!  Rest well, Soni!

Larry, that sounds like such a wonderful production of the Messiah your church will be doing.  Will you only have the one performance, or will there be more?  Do you usually have a lot of people who normally don't attend your church there for it?  Will it be recorded?  (Questions, questions!)

Etta Sue, give Jerry my very best wishes, too.  I'm so sorry he has suffered another stroke, and pray he will again be restored to health.  Be sure to take care of yourself while looking out for him, okay?  Sometimes the caregiver needs a break as well.  (((hugs))) to both of you.

Daniel, thanks for your good report.  Those always encourage the rest of us.  It is such a blessing that cancer is no longer the death sentence it once was---there are now millions of survivors, and I believe that a cure will be found.  I'm so glad one was available for you.

Abby is wanting to work on her sewing project for a while, so I will see you all later.

Etta Sue, I'm so sorry to hear about Jerry.

For those who might not have received the email from Etta Sue, I'm going to put it in here.  I've also put it in our Prayer Area.  Please pray for Jerry.

Here's an email I received from Etta Sue...

    Hi All,

Jerry has had another stroke.  I got my last email from him Thursday evening at 6:41 p.m.  He knew I was going to the doctor on Friday so I wasn't online.  He wasn't online when I came home.  Yesterday I didn't get any emails from him nor was he online.  I called him after lunch and no one answered.  I waited.  Called again...no answer.  I went to his house leaving here at 1:15 p.m.  I prayed.  I stopped at the old managers house but no one came to the door.  There was a man with a Bobcat moving dirt.  I asked him if he would go with me to Jerry's.  He was the manager of his park.  I have a key so I went in.  I called JERRY!  No answer.  The bed was made.  But he was down in the bathroom.  The manager called 911.  He was taken to Anderson.  A brain scan showed he had another stroke and they Lifelined him to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.  I had called Lynn, his daughter and she got to Anderson before taking him.  We left her car at Jerry's and I drove to Indy.  The doctor's there don't think surgery is needed just yet.  His BP was low...59/45.  His body temp low...90.5°.  He has some of his vomit in his lungs.  Watching that for pneumonia.  I am estimating he had been down for at least 24 hours....maybe more.  He has bruising on his left side.  His right side responds to stimulation but not his left.  He responds to pain.  Before leaving last evening his BP was 129/68.  Body temp was up.  When saying JERRY he opened his eyes.  The doctors are waiting until we know how he is responding to meds and eventually removing some things.  He is on a ventilator, IV's, catheter...I don't know what all.  But he was breathing some on his own also last night.  So it sounds better than first was told us.  But he has a long way to go.

God is the ultimate healer.  He healed Jerry once.  Jerry is a fighter.  Pray for God's will.

I will let you all know more when I can
    .

Etta Sue

Jery is still in ICU and in critical condition.  Jerry still has the tube down his throat but he is breathing on his own.  When I talk to him, he opens his eyes.  I told him if he knew who I was to blink his eyes once.  He did.  He can squeeze your hand with his right hand but not his left.  He moves his right leg...he has nervous legs...but not his left.  His temp is normal.  Later I asked him if he wanted me to bring Ali to see him and I saw an attempt for a smile.  He has a long way to go but, God willing, he will get there.

Thanks to all of you for your prayers.

Marilyn

Etta Sue  I have put Jerry on the prayer chain at my church.

No update on the crash victims yet.

Papa John

Etta Sue and Pat, I just now learned of Jerry's stroke and I am so sorry.  Jerry is the kind of person you can't help but like even though we know only through the web.  I think of him as a friend and brother.  I will keep him in my prayers.  I know when I was so sick in the hospital our elders came many times and gathered around and prayed over me and God heard the prayers of so many  ---- and I am convinced if it were not for prayer I wouldn't be here today.

Marilyn I was sorry to learn of the terrible wreck and the serious injuries of Joann and her daughter Jennifer.  I will also pray for them.

Ruth Ann Bice

I just have returned from the hospital in Medical Intensive Care for 3 days. A medication for leg pain, coupled with my desire to drink only water, which flushed the sodium out of my body, caused a very bad mental, nervous reaction.

I'm now stable, on different meds, and will take the day off tomorrow to regain my "land legs."

May God bless us all. More details later.
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.
