Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

What Is Salvation?

Romans 1:16.
  "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek."

No one is saved unless there is something to be saved from - and something to be saved unto.  Simply, salvation assumes that there was a problem, and it also assumes that there is something better.

Our Lord, in His high-priestly prayer, said, "Father, the hour has come.   Glorify Your Son, that Your Son also may glorify You, as You have given Him authority over all flesh, that He should give eternal life to as many as You have given Him.  And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the one true God, and Jesus Christ Whom You have sent." (John 17:1-3)  He was telling us what the problem was - we didn't know God.  And He's telling us the solution - He was to give eternal life to every person the Father had given Him, and that salvation was to come through their knowing the true God and Jesus Christ Whom He had sent.

So we see that the kind of salvation Christ came to provide was not to be merely a whole list of earthly benefits - health, a good marriage, wealth, etc., etc. - but it was to include becoming truly acquainted with God and with His Son!  By knowing the one true God, each one would know Who gave him his life and where that life was headed.  By knowing the Christ Whom God has sent he would know how he could live his life for God and how he could be forgiven his sins.  The Son could give Him REAL life!

Have you come to know the one true God as He is revealed in His Son?  Have you known the forgiveness of that holy God through the sacrifice of His Son?  Do you call upon Him first thing in the morning and last thing at night?  Do you echo the psalmist who said, "Bless the Lord, Oh my soul, and all that is within me - bless His holy Name!"

All That Thrills My Soul Is Jesus
(Click to hear music)

Who can cheer the heart like Jesus,
By His presence all divine?
True and tender, pure and precious,
O how blest to call Him mine!

Chorus:
All that thrills my soul is Jesus;
He is more than life to me;
And the fairest of ten thousand,
In my blessed Lord I see.

Love of Christ so freely given.
Grace of God beyond degree,
Mercy higher than the heaven,
Deeper then the deepest sea.

Chorus

What a wonderful redemption!
Never can a mortal know
How my sin, tho' red like crimson,
Can be whiter than the snow.

Chorus

Every need His hand supplying,
Every good in Him I see;
On His strength divine relying,
He is all in all to me.

Chorus

By the crystal flowing river
With the ransomed I will sing,
And forever and forever
Praise and glorify the King.

Chorus:
All that thrills my soul is Jesus;
He is more than life to me;
And the fairest of ten thousand,
In my blessed Lord I see.

Everyone must be sleeping.  Here it is 9:50 AM EST and I'm the first of the day...well first after Brother Al.

I so much appreciate this site.  And I appreciate being connected with christian friends.  Thanks for inviting me Pat.

I'm aglow this morning because yesterday I heard from an old friend who is now a medically retired Nazarene pastor.  We caught up on what has happened in his life for the last 20 years.  It was great hearing how God worked in his life while a traveling evangelist.

I am also sad as I just heard this morning of another friend with terminal cancer.

Life has its ups and downs, but God steady's the course and I am so thankful that he is my pilot not my co-pilot.

Good Morning Everyone...

Thanks Al for the great word this morning.

I'm so happy that you're enjoying CP, Ed.  Hope you keep coming in here.

I was very late getting back last night from London and so it was great that I didn't have to think of opening the NEM.

Great to see your post about Cornelia, Papa John.  I'm so happy that she's a little better.  I was always happy to see the large space start occuring between doctor's appointments when I was caring for Jack.  That to me meant he was a little better at that time.

Great verses on our left sidebar today:

Today's Verse

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

Hi everyone.  It is almost time for lunch and the whole morning is gone and I don't seem to have accomplished very much.

We have exciting news in our household in that our daughter received notice this morning that she has been hired by a big company and will be supervising the file room operations, which currently has 5 employees and plans to have as many as 20.  The pay is only $10 but this is the type of job that she wanted.  Pat and I are just hoping she will be physically able to handle working 8 hours a day 5 days a week.  While she will have health insurance it excludes pre-existing conditions but that is something she will have to deal with.  This should certainly benefit Pat and I as maybe we will no longer have to provide every penny that she spends.  Now if something happens for our son soon in terms of a job.

It is another beautiful day here in Georgia.  Pat has gone to get some flowers to put out in a planter in the front.  It is a good sign that she is feeling better.

Al, thanks for the devotional.

It is good seeing everyone post today.  I really need to get busy with a backlog of webwork for my church website so will be brief today.

This is my oldest grandson's 23rd birthday!  Very hard to believe that precious little baby is already a grown man.   :o  But my, how things have changed since that day in 1983.

We're still back almost all the way to winter here.  But at least looking at the calendar it's encouraging to realize it won't be for much longer. :laff:

Good afternoon.  We had beautiful sunshine this morning, but it's raining again now.

I just had my 110 gal oil barrel filled.  Actually, it was only 100 gals.  The cost was $290!!  I had taken $300 out of savings just to pay for oil.  I know that the Lord knows my needs and will provide, but it gets me to thinking of others who don't have any savings.  What do they do for heat?  I sure didn't know it was that high.

And on top of that, the oil man backed into my porch and knocked it askew. lol   He's coming over to fix it later.  I felt sorry for him because he was so sorry.

4 days till spring!  God, thank you for the seasons.

Blessings,  Nita

Hi Everyone!

Brrrr...  It's chilly here.  I'll be interested to see what my signature temperature is when I post this.

Just went to Judy's house to find out about checking her house while she's away in Florida.

Will talk again later,

Pat

Ohhh, it says minus 5 C or 23 F!!!

A man in  New York City decided to write a book about churches around

the  country. He started by taking photographs of a very large church in the

city and making notes. He spotted a golden telephone on the vestibule wall

and was intrigued with a sign which read "$10,000 a minute."

Seeking out the Priest he asked about the phone and the sign. The  Priest

answered that this golden phone is, in fact, a direct line to

Heaven and if he pays the price he can talk directly to God.

The man thanked the pastor and continued on his way. As he continued to

visit churches in Pittsburgh, Chicago, St. Louis, Kansas City,  Denver,
Seattle, San Francisco, LA, Phoenix, Santa Fe, Austin, and !  all around the United

States. He found more phones with the same  sign, and the same answer from
each pastor.

Finally, he  arrived in Minnesota. Upon entering a church in Ely,

Minnesota,  behold, he saw the usual golden telephone. But THIS time, the
sign read:

"Calls: 35 cents." Fascinated, he asked to talk to the pastor.  Reverend,

have been in cities all across the country and in each  church I have found

this golden telephone and have been told it is a  direct line to Heaven
and that

I could talk to God, but, in the  other churches the cost was $10,000 a

minute. Your sign reads 35  cents a minute. Why?"

(I just love this part) The pastor, smiling  benignly, replied, "Son,

you're in Minnesota now......it's a local  call."
