Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

For I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.
Isaiah 41:13

In a desperate search to find new and beautiful flowers in the majestic Alps, a botanist discovered a large patch of exquisite blooms on a craggy mountain shelf, just beyond his reach. Calling a boy, he suggested a rope be tied around his waist and he be lowered to gather some.

With a look of apprehension he hurriedly left to return with an older man.

Then he said, "I'll go down now, but this man must hold the rope; he's my Dad".

How wonderful to know that our heavenly Father, who sends us on errands of life and faith, securely holds the rope.
—Arnot McIntee

My Times Are in Thy Hand
(Click to hear music)

Author:  William F. Lloyd, 1791-1853
Musician:  Joan J. Pinkston, b. 1947

My times are in Thy hand;
My God, I wish them there;
My life, my friends, my soul I leave
Entirely to Thy care.

My times are in Thy hand;
Whatever they may be,
In joy or pain; 'tho dark or bright,
As best may seem to Thee.

My times are in Thy hand;
Why should I doubt or fear?
My Father's hand will never cause
His child a needless tear.

My times are in Thy hand;
Jesus, the Crucified;
Those hands my cruel sins had pierced
Are now my guard and guide.

My times are in Thy hand;
I'll always trust in Thee;
And, after death, at Thy right hand
I shall forever be.

Pat, thank you for that beautiful devotional. I truly hope and pray you will soon recover.

Yesterday was better, so the imbalance must be easing and my system is recuperating.

Y'all have a good day.

Still not feeling well, woke up hours ago with a headach over my right eye. Fever seems to have gone down though.

Etta Sue

Good morning.  I slept better last night.  At least, didn't cough all night.  I have to get better.  Sure don't want to give Jerry anything.  I thought I was on the mend and stopped my cold medicines but I got more and now feel better.  I called my Urologist and I am going to get some more samples and an RX this morning.  Ivalou is going with me and we will stop at the grocery store.  AND WE AREN'T GOING TO EAT OUT!!!!  That will be a first.

Then this evening, us four musketeers...Ivalou, Betty, Marge and I....are going to a theater to hear The U S Army Field Band and Soldier's Chorus at Butler University in Indianapolis.  That will be fun.  Then maybe stop for something to eat at a 24 hour restaurant on the way back.

I am praying that everyone has a painfree day....a day exactly the way you want it.

Janet

Good morning!  It's a beautiful day here in the SW corner of Kansas, how is it where you are?

I don't really have anything to say, except to tell Ruth Ann, Pat, Marilyn, Etta Sue, and anyone else who isn't feeling well that I pray you will soon be feeling "on top of the world!"

Hi everyone.  Sorry to read about several of our members not feeling well at all.  Do hope that improves before the day is out.  Ruth Ann, you did seem to have a not of improvement in your comment.  Marilyn, glad the fever is down, although the headache doesn't sound very nice at all.

Etta Sue, the military bands and singing groups are just superb.  I have seen several different groups and they always put on a very professional and entertaining show.  Hope you all get to eat out afterwards.

Janet, you are a women of few words this morning.  Hope you have a wonderful day.

Pat, that is such a good devotional and the illustration so effectively makes the point that we can rely completely on our Heavenly Father.  Hope the spasms are better this morning.  Was sorry to read that you had to cancel your special evening dinner plans.

My Pat is sick with a cold again.  She is aching all over for the second day and, as she did yesterday, is spending it in bed.  I am trying not to get too close to her as sure don't want to get a cold, especially not until after my test next Tuesday.  Also want to be able to sing in the Messiah on Sunday.  I am looking forward to the dress rehearsal tomorrow morning with the chamber orchestra that will be accompanying us as well as the performance on Sunday morning.  Our 4 soloists are from the Atlanta Symphony Chorus and two of them are featured soloists with that group.

This afternoon is our monthly PC User Group and the program is on spam and that type of problem.  This is the third year that we have had this speaker.  He runs a company aimed at seniors, although is now forcusing on corporate accounts and his sister works in helping seniors fix computer problems.  He is excellent and very knowledgable.  I think after the meeting that my friend, Rod, and I are going up to Fry's again to check on a couple of things.  Hope I can resist the impulse to buy anything.

Hope everyone will have a nice day.

Janet

Let Our Requests Be Known
By Donna Kay Heath
     Service had started, and the minister began his sermon in our small country church in southeastern North Carolina.  Everyone's attention was on the intense words being delivered to us that would feed us for the week and enlighten us on God's word.
     Because our church was so small, there was no nursery.  This gave me the privilege of having my active three-year-old daughter sit with her father and me.  Along with being active, Tammie had a gift for words - that is, speaking them - and had not yet mastered the art of understanding that quietness was of the utmost importance in church, especially when the Sunday morning sermon was being delivered!
     After many admonishments to be quiet, Tammie's father picked her up to take her outside for a little conference.
     This was not the first time such an event had taken place, and she understood its significance.  She also obviously understood the significance of prayer!
     For as her father picked her up and was walking down the aisle to carry her outside, Tammie reached over his shoulders with her arms outstretched to the congregation and the minister.  She then proceeded to call out to all who would listen, "Ya'll pray for me!"
     Needless to say, it was a few minutes later before we could get back on track with the sermon.
     Guess it proves we are never too young to "let our requests be known"!

Pastoral Ministry: Spiritual Leadership of Anointed Men

Obey those who rule over you, and be submissive, for they watch out
for your souls, as those who must give account. Let them do so with
joy and not with grief, for that would be unprofitable for you.
--Hebrews 13:17

You cannot deny that the life and vitality of the Christian church
lie in the spiritual leadership of men anointed of the Holy Ghost.
I dare to tell you that there is danger in too much democracy in the
life of the church.

I am sure that some of you with a strong Baptist background will
curl up like a burning leaf in the autumn to hear me say this, but
that is all right: I am half Baptist myself!

But I do not believe that God expects the Christian church to thrive
and mature and grow just on plain democratic principles. If you will
check around you will find that even those who hold to democracy in
their church policy never get beyond first base unless they have
leaders within the denomination who are anointed men, strongly
spiritual in leadership.  Christ the Eternal Son, 100.

"Lord, it seems as though Christian leaders have failed so often and
so visibly that now the church is paranoid. I pray that leaders
today would be faithful and pure; I pray that the church today would
be willing to follow Godly leadership. Amen."

Fantastic, Janet...  And thanks Janet for your kind thoughts.

Isn't it awful all about Terry S. in Florida and the feeding tubes?  I wonder how this is going to turn out.

"Click for Waterloo Wellington, Ontario Forecast"

Janet

I don't know, Pat, but I do know there are so many praying for her, and a lot of good Christian lawyers and senators and representatives are working tirelessly trying to save Terri.

Please tell me what this painting says to you.

Terry's case hits close home to me, in one respect.  When my father had his massive heart attack 5 or so years ago, the swelling of his brain caused him to be in a semi-comatose/chronic vegatative state for over two years.  Obviously, he couldn't swallow and had a tube.  My uncles and aunt (his bros and sis) thought we were keeping him alive unnecessarily.  Feeding tubes are not, in my opinion, life support, as I know of some children with handicaps that require tube feedings and no one balks.  Basically, the courts have just ruled that terry can be starved and dehydrated to death, just as my uncles and aunt (and several doctors) wanted done to my father.  Janet,, your picture is so appropriate.  We kill our unborn babies and now we are killing those that can't speak for themselves.  Who's next?  Wheelchair bound people?  Alz. patients?  Cancer victims?  Developmentally disables (formely known as mentally retarded) people?  Those whose IQ isn't quiet high enough?  Talk about slippery slopes.

ENOUGH  I am off of my soapbox now.

I hope all that have been "suffering' with the different maladies are feeling much better -- that has been my prayer for you.  It is beautiful here in WNC right now, and I hope it stays this way over the weekend.  I wanna take some pictures!!!!!!

Take care and have an awesome day!

Pat

Exactly!  I agree with you.  This man is just wanting to have the legal rights to marry this woman.  I'm nauseated almost over this situation.

Thanks for telling us about your dad, Karma!

I am following with interest all your comments on the T.S. case.  I know very little about it here, and I don't really have time to look into it, so I'm dependent upon y'all.

Chris - thanks for that R.C. Sproul article.  He is one of my very favorites.  He has always been very close to the seminary from which I graduated.

Marilyn

I am in total agreement  about the Terri Schiavo case. I think to remove her feeding tube is so cruel and I hope they do not do that.

I feel somewhat better although my head I all stopped up. I can't go back to work until  am completely over this cold, I do not want to expose Fay to anything. So I am going to have my doctor file the disability papers so at least I can draw my disablilty.

Don't y-all just hate when you nose is all plugged up and you can't breathe?

So I am using this time at home to finish another quilt, (oops I forgot to take a photo of it.) It is in the car on the backseat to keepthe dog hair off the upholstry. Alo working on some PSP projects and crocheting a scarf.

Still taking mega doses of C and Zinc,

That really stinks about the Terry case.  I actually watched the news on it and find it territying..what if it was the judge in that situation.  I wonder if he thought about putting himself in that ladies shoes.  Scarey stuff!

The dvd's I have been burning actually work in a dvd player. I can now burn dvd's for the parents at the dance center to help their child practice and get better at dance.  pretty exciting stuff.

I am off to get ready to go have dinner at a friends house.  Have a wonderful evening, folks.

Sonja

PS..awesome painting, Janet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Marilyn, how much is mega doses?

Janet

The judge in Terri S.'s case would not relent, and her feeding tube was removed this afternoon.  As Karma said, what a slippery slope we are all on........legalized murder is all this can be called!  My heart aches for her family.  Pray something is done quickly so the tube can be reinserted.

I'm off to a play by our local theater company.  See you later!

Sonja Mega doses are 2 1000mg tablets of C, 1 50 mg tablet of Zinc every 3 hours. plus the Emer-gen-C packets 1 every 3 hours. Until 6PM (for me) then start all over again at 6 AM at every 4 hours. Today has been every 4 hours so will tomorrow etc. until I get over this stuff.

I've been thinking about Terri Schiavo during the day when I first found out about the feeding tube being removed. I've been praying for her each time I am reminded of her. I hope you do the same

Janet.....your talent with graphics is terrific.  One of these days I might be able to attempt it....till then I am completely satisified to let you do the good work.

My first immpression was/is that Christ is praying for our nation.   The eagle represents the USA and it/we are watching Christ kneel at our symbol of freedom.

Right, Eddie!  Only that isn't graphics, it is an oil painting.  ;D

Yes, we all need to keep praying for Terri Schiavo and her parents and siblings.
