Morning Devotional...

They will not frame their doings to turn unto their God: for the spirit of whoredoms is in the midst of them, and they have not known the Lord.
Hosea 5:4

This is a New Testament truth dressed in Old Testament words! The sins of Gomer, where Israel is pictured as an unfaithful wife are replaced by the sins of Ephraim, where Israel is pictured as a rebellious son.

The act of harlotry had been replaced by the spirit of harlotry. One was blatantly out in the open, the other was quietly done in secret.

God condemns both. Too often we may appear to look and act holy but, like the Pharisees, our hearts are far from Christ.

Let's make sure that our actions and our attitudes match.

I Surrender All

Author:  Judson W. Van DeVenter, 1855-1939 alt.
Musician:  Winfield S. Weeden, 1847-1908

All to Jesus, I surrender;
All to Him I freely give;
I will ever love and trust Him,
In His presence daily live.

Refrain
I surrender all, I surrender all,
All to Thee, my blessèd Savior,
I surrender all.

All to Jesus I surrender;
Humbly at His feet I bow,
Worldly pleasures all forsaken;
Take me, Jesus, take me now.

Refrain

All to Jesus, I surrender;
Make me, Savior, wholly Thine;
Let me feel the Holy Spirit,
Truly know that Thou art mine.

Refrain

All to Jesus, I surrender;
Lord, I give myself to Thee;
Fill me with Thy love and power;
Let Thy blessing fall on me.

Refrain

All to Jesus I surrender;
Now I feel the sacred flame.
O the joy of full salvation!
Glory, glory, to His Name!

Good morning...  :D  Hope you all have a wonderful day.  Could I ask you to pray for a lady at work?  She told me yesterday that her son has cancer spreading around his body.  He's already had one lung removed, and it looks like the other is getting it now too. His name is Paul.  Thank you so much...

Of course, Jim ... We serve a mighty God and He is able to do exceeding abundant above all that we could ask or think... I'm praying.

Good Morning Folks...

I had a great sleep last night for about the first time in six weeks!

It's cold and a bit blustery at the moment.  Not sure what it's going to be like later but I have an Avon order to pack and then I'll be back to visit with you all.

I'm praying Jim.

Good Morning, Pat great devotional this morning thanks.

March 2 - Songs in the Night
From Days of Praise devotional.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Deep calleth unto deep at the noise of thy waterspouts: all thy waves and thy billows are gone over me. Yet the Lord will command His lovingkindness in the daytime, and in the night His song shall be with me, and my prayer unto the God of my life" (Psalm 42:7-8).

There are times in the life of a believer when he seems about to sink under great avalanches of trouble and sorrow. But then "I call to remembrance my song in the night" (Psalm 77:6), and God answers once again. In the book of Psalms, the theme of conflict and suffering is prominent, but always there is also the note of hope and ultimate triumph.

The very first psalm, for example, notes the conflict of the righteous with the ungodly, but promises that "the way of the ungodly shall perish" (v.6). The second psalm foretells the final rebellion of the heathen against God and His anointed, but assures us that God will "vex them in His sore displeasure" (vv.2,5). In Psalm 3, the believer says: "Many are they that rise up against me." But then he remembers that "Salvation belongeth unto the Lord" (vv.1,8). He cries in Psalm 4: "Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness: thou hast enlarged me when I was in distress; have mercy upon me, and hear my prayer" (v.1).

In Psalm 5, immediately after the first imprecation in the psalms ("cast them out in the multitude of their transgressions") occurs the first specific mention of singing in the book of Psalms: "Let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout [literally `sing'] for joy, because thou defendest them" (vv.10-11).

The Lord Jesus and His disciples sang a psalm, even as they went out into the night of His betrayal and condemnation (Mark 14:26). This is His gracious promise: "Ye shall have a song, as in the night. . . . And the Lord shall cause His glorious voice to be heard" (Isaiah 30:29-30). HMM

Twice this morning God has given me Jeremiah 29:11

"Surely I know the thoughts and plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope." NLT

First in the devotional calender then in my daily Promises box. This prayer was with the  quote. "If I could see the future, it would be easy to have hope. Lord remind me that real hope is when I can't see the end of the road, but still trust you to lead me there."

That's a good Scripture, Marilyn.  Many people in our wolrd think that "God is so great that He's not interested in the small things."  Actually, God is so great that He IS interested in even the smallest things! He's so great that nothing escapes His interest and sovereign control, from the waving of a blade of grass in the field to the secret intentions of the wicked in their plots.  Praise Him!  He's LORD OF ALL!

Then, with His sovereignty in mind, sing, "God is so good."

Marilyn

I AM singing Al. Thanks you Pat that song is perfect for Jeremiah 29:11 and for the devotional above it. God is truly Awesome

I ran into a man in K-Mart yesterday that come to our church occasionally and we had a great conversation. I think I have convinced him to stop going to a different church every Sunday and commit to attending every meeting held by one church for one month so he will get to know what is really going on and to know the people. Of course I befriend everyone who comesd through the doors at church since I am the first person they see and the first person to greet them.

Time to get going to work.

Pastoral Ministry: In Need of a Physician

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in
green pastures; He leads my beside the still waters. He restores my
soul....
--Psalm 23:1-3

Human nature being what it is, the man of God may soon adopt an air
of constant piety and try to appear what the public thinks he is.
The fixed smile and hollow tones of the professional cleric are too
well known to require further mention.

All this show of godliness, by the squeeze of circumstances and
through no fault of the man himself, may become a front behind
which the man hides, a plaintive, secretly discouraged and lonely
soul. Here is no hypocrisy, no intentional double living, no actual
desire to deceive. The man has been mastered by the circumstances.
He has been made the keeper of other people's vineyards but his own
vineyard has not been kept. So many demands have been made upon him
that they have long ago exhausted his supply. He has been compelled
to minister to others while he himself is in desperate need of a
physician.  God Tells the Man Who Cares, 115.

"Lord, I pray for pastors everywhere today who are indeed exhausted
and depleted. The task is so overwhelming and the demands so
extreme. Come today with a fresh breath of Your Spirit to refresh,
renew, and restore. Amen."

Marilyn:  Isn't it funny how God sends people our way?

On Monday morning, Donna (my B.W.) and I asked God to put people on our path for us to talk to.  Monday afternoon, on two separate occasions God placed someone in front of me and each time we had as you say "A good conversation."

Design trade,
please don't let unkind people put you off.
Kind people make up for them, never retaliate is my advice, just show love for the loveless unlovable, God's love poured into your heart will melt the ice, we cannot love as we ought to either, but His love poured into our heart by the Holy Spirit enables us to love.
Remember that some folks have just enough religion to make them miserable, and not enough to make them happy!
Cheer up lass, turn your eyes upon Jesus and remember what He has saved you from.
Think on these things and once again your heart will lift in praise to God and you will love the unlovable again. :) ;) :D

Marilyn

Janie I totally agree with what Chris has said inthe above post. Some people forget that the wagging tongue  can bring life as well as death.  You should go tho that teachers supervisor on let them know what is being said to your child. No child should recieve that kind of treatment from any adult.I would tell you to turn the other cheek but in this cas you can't becuse you child is being hurt. Pray for God to lead you in the right direction and ask God if you should speak to this woman. God will put the right words into your mouth and you will be able to speak to her with love. Or else speak to the Pastor.

Marilyn:  Jeremiah 29:11 has mean't so much to me especially this year.  I LOVE that verse!

Janie:  I feel just terrible for your child.  I agree with what Marilyn has said.  No one should EVER talk to a child like that.  That woman who spoke like that, needs for someone to inform her of the harm like that can do to a child. :'(

My posts tonight are very brief.

I have a very sore back....and can't sit here for very long.

Janie, love you.  Please don't be put off by these silly people.  Remember that your closest Friend is our Heavenly Father and He's a Friend that sticketh closer than any other.

I've sure learned that too in the past 4 years since my husband died.

Janie, how old are your 4 again?

Al Moak

Janie - be sure of this - we definitely and unequivocally love you.  I agree with the others here - don't be put off by one (or two or three) who do not reflect the love of our Lord.  Keep trying churches until you find one in which the love of Christ is obvious.  There are some.  In fact, there are many.  God has given us the Church as our nursery, our place and means of growth, and we need it very, very much.  Other Christians are our encouragers, correctors, helpers, etc., and God will give you some of those in the church He has for you.  Ask Him where He wants you to go and what He wants you to do.

Jane Walker

Oh, JANIE ... I am just now reading your post.  My heart aches with yours over the unthinking remarks made by people who really don't even know the harm they are inflicting.  I agree wholeheartedly with those who have posted before me ... Please know that we love you and your family and I, personally, pray that you will feel the loving arms of our Lord holding you close to His heart as He comforts your heart and erases the memories from your daughter.  Take heart, my friend, and know that Jesus was despised and afflicted for us and he opened not his mouth!  I love you ... Jesus loves you more.  Go in peace.

Hi,

Just reading on another photo forum in the off-topic section and I found out that a member of the band "Korn" (Don't worry, I've hardly heard of them, but I guess they're pretty popular worldwide)...anyhow, a member had left the band because he accept Jesus as his savior!

From the official Korn website: "Korn has parted ways with Brian, who has chosen Jesus Christ as his savior, and will be dedicating his musical pursuits to that end. Korn respects Brian's wishes, and hopes he finds the happiness he's searching for."

Pretty cool to hear of a mainstream rock and roll band member converting!

P.S. On the topic of mainstream rock bands, I never realized that the members of U2 are Christian!

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  Another very busy day and I am about ready to seek my bed for the night but wanted to at least say hi.

Janie, I agree with what the others have said.  It is easy to understand why you feel hurt, especially as it impacts your child but if you like the church perhaps you could be the catalyst to help the church turn from a cold one to visitors to a warm church.  A friendly smile and a word or two goes a long way in making a person feel comfortable in a church.

I have had a long and busy day.  I taught for two hours this afternoon and then we had choir practice this evening.  So I am going to say goodnight.

Matt

Janie
Believe me when I say I feel your pain..  I am with you all the way.  I think I learned through these experiences that these people are in every church because God is Light and we all know that light also attracts the bugs.   I think Larry said it very well,  You have the power in Christ Jesus to make an impact.   Be strong Jamie and don't let the bugs make an impact on you.  Pray for those bugs and I promise you something will happen.  May the strength and the confort from Holy Spirit be with you..
I heard just yesturday
"A man is at his highest when he stoops down to help a child."
I also heard this yesturday
" it is always hard to do the right thing"
I have heard that a million times but this time it stuck.

It's so refreshing to read the posts in here when you are all helping one of our group who is hurting.

Janie, just share and share with all of us, sweetie.  We love you.

As far as U2 is concerned, if find it very difficult to believe that they are really living for the Lord Jesus Christ but I also realize that we aren't to judge.  I do think though that by "their fruit we shall know them" and I sometimes wonder about these groups who say that they are Christians.  U2 are from Ireland and not many in Ireland who are Bible believing Christians feel that they are living for the Lord.

Ryan, I saw this on TV the other night as well about this person from Corn/Korn (not sure how you spell it).   It was nice to hear.
