Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

The Essence Of God's Being

We know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love (Romans 5:5, NLT).

Dear friends:

Loving God is a commandment in the Bible. But "We love him, because he first loved us" (1 John 4:19, KJV).

Many years ago I spoke at the famous Park Street Church in Boston. That day my topic was God's unconditional love, one of my favorite topics.

A missionary with whom I had gone to seminary twenty years earlier came up to me afterwards. "I could never preach a sermon like that," he scolded. "I leave talking about God's love to the theological liberals. I just talk about faith."

Faith is important, but this poor man had lost sight of one of God's greatest qualities. The apostle Paul writes, "We know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love" (Romans 5:5, NLT).

God's love for us, and His love through us, have always been the main focus of my ministry. His love is the central message of the gospel. "For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16, NLT).

God not only loves us, but it is noteworthy that His very Person is love. The Bible says, "God is love" (1 John 4:8, NLT). Love is the essence of His being, the driving force behind everything He does. That is why He wants this chief attribute to be the driving force behind all that we do.

Many people already know that they are lost and that they are sinners. Many do not need to be reminded. This includes many who are in other countries with dominant, non-Christian religious systems. But many have never been told of God's great, unconditional love for them and what He has done for them. The revelation of God's love has no doubt brought more souls into the kingdom and caused more repentance and personal healing than any other message.

As God leads, we must proclaim the whole counsel of God and tell of hell and eternal punishment, but the good news is that because of His great love, God wants to redeem us. That is not because we deserve it, because we do not, but only because of His love and grace.

"But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners" (Romans 5:8, NLT).

Yours for helping to fulfill the Great Commission
each year until our Lord returns,

Bill Bright

Wow!  Everyone must be getting snow.  I am first after Janet last night!!!

Janet ~ Thanks for the welcome home.  Well, this morning it is snowing here, too.  Expecting 3-5 inches by evening.  I got a call from the plumber at 7:15 a.m. asking if they could delay coming for a couple of days.  I told them NO!  I can't use my kitchen drain, utility drain or do laundry because the drain in the basement going to the field tile is stopped up completely and I have 2-3 inches of water in my basement now because the surface sump pump won't pump lower than that.  The plumbers are here now and I hear a sump pump running.  Funny, the man I talk to this morning didn't tell these men they needed rubber boots!!

Nita ~ After all the driving I just did, I would love to take the SN bus to anywhere...especially where it is warmer!  My stickie is 6 minutes off!  I, too, like accuracy but I like the temps on there.

Marilyn ~ That is great that your WM are making Easter baskets for those who wont get any.  What a great gift for little ones.

Ruth ~ I love making baby afghans/blankets but I crochet.  The only knitting I do are those dish clothes.  I made two of them while in Florida.

Jeanne Lee ~ Yep, let Pat be the pilot and you and I will navigate.  Give me a map and I can get you anywhere!!

Jane ~ You say Jeanne doesn't navigate well.  Okay!  Depend on me!  I only went the wrong way once coming back from Florida and thank God, it was only 4 miles to the next/last exit to get turned around and go in the right direction.

Liz ~ When I got back from Florida, Kitty had brought a catnip plant for my girls.  I haven't noticed anything different with them other than they are closerthanthis with me now.  Must be afraid I will leave again!

And to all of you who hadn't posted since my last post, have a God-filled day!

A lot of banging and sawing going on under me.  Hopefully I will be able to do laundry soon!

Just popping in to say hi!

HI!

Back later, I hope.

Papa John

Good morning.  We are having a busy day here.  The cleaning lady is here and also the hair dresser has come to fix Cornelia's hair.  Martha is home for spring break.  Cornelia continues to do well.

Good to see everyone.  Janet, a nice devotional.  We could not be saved by faith if it weren't for God's love.  Hope you are all doing good today.

Papa John
Eph 2:8-9  For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-- and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-- not by works, so that no one can boast.(NIV)

Al Moak

The wonderful thing is that God's love is a holy love - it is completely right and just, despite our sin.  It's holy because it comes in and through our Lord Jesus Christ.  Oh how wonderful is our Savior!  As Papa John's line always says, "For by grace are you saved through faith."  God's grace is Jesus Christ, given for us.

Not raining here at the moment, but probably will off and on today.  But not cold, just wet.  Pat - if someone could tell me how to do it, I'd put that weather thingy in my sig. line.

Al I sent you an IM telling to how to put it in and the code for McKinleyville.

I can see the little squares with the red x's where the temp thing is supposed to be so I put mine back in and it doesn't show on my sig.

Ritz

Morning eveyone!  :coffee: I think all the temp thingys are on the blink. Peace, Ritz.

Pat

I see yours, Ritz.  It's 61 F  (Wish you had chosen one with both C and F as that's what's used up here in Canada but no worries.  I still think in F sometimes :) )  At 11:35 your time, it's flashing away there.

But that happens sometimes too.  The site that they are linked to sometimes "hiccups".  We have these in all of the headings on SeniorNet for the various countries and states/provinces.

Pastoral Ministry: A New Type of Preacher
But none of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to
myself, so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry
which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of
the grace of God.
--Acts 20:24
If Christianity is to receive a rejuvenation, it must be by other
means than any now being used. If the Church in the second half
of this century is to recover from the injuries she suffered in
the first half, there must appear a new type of preacher. The
proper, ruler-of-the-synagogue type will never do. Neither will
the priestly type of man who carries out his duties, takes his
pay and asks no questions, nor the smooth-talking pastoral type
who knows how to make the Christian religion acceptable to
everyone. All these have been tried and found wanting.
Another kind of religious leader must arise among us. He must be
of the old prophet type, a man who has seen visions of God and
has heard a voice from the Throne. When he comes (and I pray God
there will be not one but many), he will stand in flat
contradiction to everything our smirking, smooth civilization
holds dear. He will contradict, denounce and protest in the name
of God and will earn the hatred and opposition of a large segment
of Christendom. Such a man is likely to be lean, rugged, blunt-
spoken and a little bit angry with the world. He will love Christ
and the souls of men to the point of willingness to die for the
glory of the One and the salvation of the other. But he will
fear nothing that breathes with mortal breath.  The Size of the
Soul, 128-129.

"Lord, in the first half of this current century this need is
even greater. Send to Your church today many who have 'seen
visions of God and...heard a voice from the Throne.' Amen."

Janet

Well, hello everyone!  Hope you are all having a God-blessed day today.

I spent the entire morning doing errands!  Boy, they do not make things easy for you to get a new vehicle registered, insured and tagged, do they?  But I got the job done, anyway.

The boys went with me, so we stopped at the donut shop and indulged a bit.  Now I will need to walk at least five more miles to get it back off.  :idiot:  Shame on me.   :-[  Oh, well..........

Jeff just called to say the other grandsons, Curtis and Mark, are coming up with some of Darrel's equipment they had borrowed, so I will get to see them, too!  YIPPEE!!  Love those grandkids!! <3

The snow is rapidly melting around here, and they say we have a 50% chance for more tomorrow.  That would be so nice, too.  Beth has a Dr.'s app't tomorrow, so if it does snow, she will need to reschedule.

I'm just yammering on here, so..........bye!

I have accomplished all but my Doctors appointment. I have some time before I have to be there. It has been sprinkling all day that is sure better that what it was last week.

Nothing else on my agenda for today, I may take a few  more things out of my closet. I am getting ready to take a bunch of clothes to the Rescue Mission in Eureka for the women there, I also have some boxes to take to the thrift store when I get everything done and loaded into the car for my next trip to Eureka.

Well This has been a very bu7sr couole of weeks. I haven't read all the posts to catch up, I will do that later tonight.

Sunday was a very difficult day in Church.  It was the last official Sunday that Pastor Dennis was to preach.  I don't think there was a dry eye in the congregation.  Oyr praise team leader sang the song Thank you,  We all stood a standing ovation  for pastor D. as Bobn insweted his name into the chorus.  Then He preached.  This is a highly respecter and well loved man.  He will be really missed.

Need to get back to puter work, will be back later
Love Judy

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  It is late and I am tired.

Marilyn, I see a temperature graphic for you but it is very tiny.  Hope what Pat suggested solved your problem.

Etta Sue, glad to see you home safely and sure hope they got your plumbing problems solved.  You would think plumbers would always have boots with them

Janet, 4 grandsons at once ought to be quite an experience.  I can see you are having a wonderful time.  Glad you got some moisture.

Papa John, glad to see your good report and sure the hairdresser helped Cornelia feel even better today. These ladies like to look pretty and we men appreicate the efforts our wives make.

I had a very busy day as spent all morning at Fry's getting gifts to give away at our PC User Group meeting in April.  While there I decided to get the Vonage adapter so I can use VoiP for our home system.  I had to buy new phones where four wireless phones work off one main base.  Then had problems trying to set up my account this evening and spent a frustrating hour with someone in India who couldn't understand me and I sure couldn't understand him.  I asked to speak to his supervisor but he declined to allow that so I just hung up on him as I was so peeved.  I will take the device back to the store tomorrow and see if I can get one that has a valid MAC address so I can get registered.  It will save me over half on my monthly telephone bill and I will recover the costs of the new phones and the adapter in about 8 months.  Sure hope it works well.  They offer a free month and a money back guarantee.  I will let you know how all this turns out once we start using the system.

Pat

I'm locking the door a bit early tonight.  I've been to a meeting and came home with a dilly of a headache.
