Janet: Hello, Friends!  Let's get this going again!  I miss  hearing from all of you! 2025-01-23, 19:26:16

Don: Hey Judy, It's been a long time. Hope you are doing well. 2024-12-02, 22:41:41

JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

"HOSANNA"

The literal translation of the word hosanna would give us a cry of supplication, "Oh, save." or "save now!"  Through the years the word hosanna changed from a supplication to an acclamation.  It became a cry of exultation over deliverance already afforded.  It is the word which is found in Psalm 118:25, and it was closely associated with the national hope of Israel, and was used often in the special observance of great occasions in Israel's history.  It was used repeatedly in the observance of the Feast of Tabernacles and it was here that the use of palm branches was associated with it.  You can read it in Leviticus 23:40.  This, then, is the background of the shouts of "Hosanna" which rang through the streets of Jerusalem as Jesus entered on that first Palm Sunday.

Now near and nearer draws the throng,
Redoubling as it moves along.
It climbs the steep; the "Golden Gate,"
It passes, pleased to celebrate
That meek prince riding to His throne,
While rings, in ever rising tone,
"Hosanna!"

Still the same motley groups appear,
Blind, lame and poor are ever near;
Still venal traders plot for greed:
Stalk priest and scribe of slippery creed,
Oh, for the Christ and Christ-like men;
While sweet child-voices plead again,
"Hosanna!"

Thanks so much, Janet.

I asked about the tornado as I saw that one touched down in Kansas and it looked like it was close to your area.

My internet seems to be fixed now.  Geordie and I went for a walk this evening and the trucks have all left.  Must have been a very large cable problem as they were there since Saturday!

Hello and goodnight in one sentence.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Tuesday.   I have a dentist appointment, then I absolutely MUST clean up my house.  It looks like that Tornado came through my living room.  And I can't blame it all on Travis, this time.  Most of the stuff is mine or Bernard's.

Have a good 'un.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  It is suppose to be stormy in Georgia today but the weatherman last evening indicated it may not affect us until late afternoon.  I should be home from my vo2 test at the hospital by mid-afternoon as the appointment is at 12:30, although I have to be there around 11 am.  If the doctor fits the general mold then I will have to wait for the test.  I must admit I am not looking forward to it.  However, by mid-afternoon it will be over.  Tomorrow we have to make the long drive over past the hospital as Pat has a doctor's appointment to have the biopsy done on the fatty tumors on her hip.  Fortunately she started feeling better yesterday and is up this morning and seems better.  She still has the aftermath of a bad cold so know it will take several days for her to regain her stamina.

Pat, glad to see that you have your Internet back.

Janet, thanks for the devotional this morning.  I did not know that about the word Hosanna, very interesting. We always use palm fronds in the processional on Palm Sunday.  The choir follows the children down the center aisle and then files into the choir loft during the Introit.  Sure glad you didn't have tornados in your vicinity.

Liz, nice to see you posting.  Certainly sorry that you have been feeling under the weather and hope that the spring brings improvement in your general health.

Etta Sue, that is a stiff co-pay but anything to do with the hospital is now so expensive.  Glad to see you are feeling better.

Janet, what a wonder day for the ladies in the home with the red hats to wear.  Sure that must have brightened up what would otherwise been a very mundane day.  I know several ladies who belong to the red hat society and will have to remember to tell them of your experience as that sounds like a nice thing to do and I am sure the ladies of the society got more enjoyment than the residents in seeing those smiling faces.

Marilyn, sorry to hear that the little house may not be available.  It is good that you are keeping your eye out for other housing opportunities.

It will soon be time to leave for morning coffee at the cafe.  The traffic is getting so heavy around here that it takes longer to get over to pick up the man I take with me each morning.  I have to get through a very busy intersection.  Hope everyone has a good day.

Marilyn

March 22 - Only the Good Shepherd

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep" (John 10:11).

Who is our shepherd? Is it Jesus, the Good Shepherd? Is it the One who knows His sheep by name-the One who would care for His helpless sheep even if it meant dying for them? Jesus said, "I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine. As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep" (vv.14-15).

Or is our shepherd someone less loving-someone who might lead us in paths of righteousness for a while, but desert us when the going gets rough (v.13)?

Most of us at some notable times in our lives-or even at periodic intervals or as a natural lifelong habit-get off the path of righteousness. Just as sheep tend to go their own silly ways, we continually err and fall into ruts of sin and ignorance. Perhaps at those times more than any other, we look around for a shepherd. We feebly bleat until we find a leader we can look to-one who will guide us toward security. But in following anyone other than the Good Shepherd, grave danger lurks. How can we know who that one is? Whom does he follow? How firmly ingrained are his principles of righteousness? Will he never, never fail?

Anyone but the Good Shepherd will surely disappoint us and eventually lead us astray. None but the Lord Jesus is meant to be the Shepherd. Everyone else certainly will fail and step off the right path at some point. Only the Good Shepherd-sinless, One with the Father-knows and loves His sheep fully. He alone is worthy to be followed.

"My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand" (vv.27-28). KLB

Good Morning, Thank you Janet for the message on the word Hosanna.

I feel better today, slept better last night than I have for almost a week. However my hip has been hurting for the second day now. I think I may be falling apart ;D. Seriously I think my hip hurts from sitting for so long and being home for so long. This has been a nice little vacation for me though, I am thankful for the time off even if I did have to get sick to have this time.

Now I am going to read through the other threads here and stop inprayers to pray for those listed inthere.

If we got the snow they predicted, it melted before I got up.  :)  It is still pretty cold here, but will warm up again soon, I'm sure.

Larry, I hope you get a very good report from your test.  And Pat, too, from her biopsy.  These things are no fun at all, but we all have to endure a certain amount of medical testing at times.  Well, almost everyone, anyway.

Hi, Karma!  Time for us to see photos of your little ones again, don't you think??  ;D  We like to watch them grow!

Marilyn, hope you feel better soon.  Bet your ladies have missed you.

Boy, those weights felt much heavier than usual today.  It was all I could do to do three sets of 10 reps each this morning.  Whew!  It must be doing some good, but the scales are not showing a change as yet.  I can tell that my muscles are getting stronger, though, and good health is about more than weight, right?

Here is a little grin for you today...........

A couple of hours into a visit with my mother she noticed I hadn't lit up a cigarette once. "Are you trying to kick the habit?" "No," I replied, "I've got a cold and I don't smoke when I'm not feeling well." "You know," she observed, "you'd probably live longer if you were sick more often."

I slept in a little today.  Sometimes that is hard to do with two kitties.  But I have learned to get up and feed them. then go back and get a few more winks.  Kind of nice.

I, too, slept better last night than I have for a long time.  Perhaps and hopefully, I am getting rid of this cold.  I took my last cold pills this morning.  We will see.

It is cold and gloomy today.  No rain or wind, though.  In fact, I have solar heat also and it just shut off.  I makes me a little chilled because the incoming vent is in my dining room but the outgoing vent is in the hall about 3 feet from me so he brings cool air across me.  No, I am not changing the pc because this is the coolest room in the summer.   8)

Did I tell you all about Lapel?  They did win the Semi-Finals and if they win this Saturday at their game at Conseco Fieldhouse in downtown Indianapolis they will be State Champions for Class 1A Boys High School Basketball.  The tiny town is wild!!!!  You can read about here, if you so wish!

Well, I do need to do some house cleaning today....hope that gets done.  And then I will veg out.

I called the hospital this morning and Jerry was still having a time keeping his Blood oxygen up so he is doing about the same.

God Bless You All!!!

Good Morning Everyone...

I'm stuck to the TV news here watching about Terry S.  What a terrible happening.

Love your graphics today, Etta Sue!  They sure cheer me up.

Sorry you aren't feeling well, Marilyn.  Hope you feel "rosey" soon.  It's nice and sunny here today and that sure makes me feel good.

Again, Janet, thanks for the devotional.  I sure appreciate the help of the Moderators on this site.  It's just great to have such good ones to help with the running of the site.

Hope Pat is feeling much better soon, Larry.  Glad you had such a nice musical presentation too.  I would sure love to have been there.  I enjoy these very much.

I agree that it's time to see another photo, Karma!

I'm off to deliver some Avon and then I'll check in later.

God bless you all.  And happy photo'ing!

Etta Sue:  Thanks for the updates on Jerry.  That was great news for the school near you.

I am on wireless - we didn't realize that it could happen when on the new DSL  - We put DSL in for the regular desk computer upstairs.  When I get on here in the basement, it automatically goes to DSL since that is "on".  Now, to find a cheapie way to sign on when we take this laptop on the road.  the best part is that we can catch the telephone now and not be so limited spending time on the 'puter.

Thanks so much for the writing on "Hosanna" -

Janet - that was an excellent little devotional on "Hosanna."  Thank you very much.  I didn't have a good night, so I'm staying home today.  I iced my lower back a little bit ago, and my hope is that that will make it much better.  A buddy of mine from seminary years ago is pastor of a rather large church in Davis, CA.  He has me come and preach whenever he goes over to India for one of his regular mission trips (he's native from India).  One of the elders from that church called me and asked if I would be willing to edit my buddy's book of sermons, which they may publish.  So I'm hurrying to do that.  There are 28 sermons.  They'll publish it right there at the church, as they have the facilities for printing, copying, etc.  They might do my studies on Psalms, Mark, and Romans as well.  Nevertheless, it's keeping me very, very busy just now reediting the Psalms studies, editing my friends book, etc.  So gotta get back to work.  CUL

Pastoral Ministry: We Languish for Men

Then Paul answered, "What do you mean by weeping and breaking my
heart? For I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die at
Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus."
--Acts 21:13

The Church at this moment needs men, the right kind of men,
bold men....

We languish for men who feel themselves expendable in the warfare
of the soul, who cannot be frightened by threats of death because
they have already died to the allurements of this world. Such men
will be free from the compulsions that control weaker men. They
will not be forced to do things by the squeeze of circumstances;
their only compulsion will come from within--or from above.

This kind of freedom is necessary if we are to have prophets in
our pulpits again instead of mascots. These free men will serve
God and mankind from motives too high to be understood by the rank
and file of religious retainers who today shuttle in and out of
the sanctuary. They will make no decisions out of fear, take no
course out of a desire to please, accept no service for financial
considerations, perform no religious act out of mere custom; nor
will they allow themselves to be influenced by the love of
publicity or the desire for reputation. Of God and Men, 11-13.

"Lord, what would it take for me to be that kind of man? Do in me
whatever work You need to do today, that I might die to the
allurements of the world and serve You with high motives. Amen."

Janet, you are one sneaky gal!!!  That does look like great fun, though.  I've thought about contacting one of the red hatters I know to see if they do the pink hat thing, but when I think of putting one more thing on my plate, it is a bit overwhelming.

Travis and Bernard caught ya'lls colds.  So far, KRisti and I are okay.

It is cold and rainy here today.  My dentist appointmetn went well -- no cavities.  YEA!!!!

Hope everyone is feeling well or better, and I hop soemthing good happens to all ya'll today!!!

Karma, I've been told what the younger women's section is called and the colors they wear, but somehow these facts seem to elude me at the moment. :-\

I've worked steadily solving problems all day, so am very tired tonight. I think I'll call it a day as soon as I finish with the internet.

Y'all take care, now.

Thanks for the nice devotional.

Cool day here and the sun is coming and going....nice day though.  I went to town with Wendy as she had to have a physio treatment.  Managed a short walk and then came home to tackle my income tax.  The gov. sent my T4's to the old address, tho' sent the tax form to me here.  Had to spend ages trying to get a dept. that would correct the problem and sent duplicates.  Finally arrived.  Boy, are they ever efficient!! :-\

Squeek was ill this morning and barfed her breakfast by my shoe tray.  (Missed the shoes)  She was so upset and has been trying to love me to death since.  Now is sleeping on HER chair.  Think they forgot to give her the hairball medication again!!!  She doesn't like it.

Etta Sue, how is Jerry now?  I have been thinking about him and praying for his recovery.  Hope things are better.  Do pray for people here....not big on posting stuff.  Think about your housing problem also, Marilyn....and all the other folks who come here.

Getting Ready at the last Minute

A minister waited in line to have his car filled with gas just before a long holiday weekend.
The attendant worked quickly, but there were many cars ahead of him in front of the service station. Finally, the attendant motioned him toward a vacant pump.

"Reverend," said the young man, sorry about the delay. It seems as if everyone waits until the last minute to get ready for a long trip.

The minister chuckled, "I know what you mean. It's the same in my business."

Have a nice evening folks and God Bless.

Liz

Why is it that we are so eager to get on someone's case and get down on those who are rejoicing?

we should rejoice with those who rejoice and weep with those who weep but not grumble when people are joyful!

Just stopping by to see whats going on here. I had a delightful conversation with Ruth Ann on the phone. I have been taking it easy enjoying this time at home and doing the things I like to do not the things I have to do. (Well I still have to cook and eat and vacuum the house. ;D)

Tomorrow I go for another massage and an adjustment., I am also going back to my Tai Chi class tomorrow. When I miss just 1 day I can feel it in my legs when I go back, and I have missed 1 week. I have done some here at home but not enough nor the whole workout.

Yeah Pat it is disappointing to hear that the house will probably be rented to someone ele. She told me not to get my  hopes up, but I'm not letting that get me down.

I am really sleepy and do believe that the wind brings along pollen that makes me sneeze and feel sleepy.  Well, that is a self-diagnosis and something we should never do to ourselves.

Pat:  Howdy back to you!  It is so nice to see your cheery greeting.  You make everyone feel special.  That is a rare gift.

Janet:  I like the pictures of all the ladies in Red Hats, including you.  It looks like such a fun group.

Al:  If you have time to read this note, I want to wish you the best in all the work you have ahead  - all the editing.

Marilyn:  I bought a used tape with Tai Chi and now to get myself to do this - it would be good for aches and pains, I think.  How nice that you were able to chat with Ruth Ann.

We look forward to our Good Friday service, actually don't care to go to the Maundy Thursday one as it is not as uplifting.
