Hello All --- What a day... What a day... Spent most of the day in relax mode... Went to Barnes & Noble to pick up some books, found an accountabilty group that was meeting there and talked with them for a bit... It was encouraging for me to see a group that was meeting outside of a church or someone's home as a outward show of their faith. We got to chat for a bit and they invited me to their church (as I told them I was looking for a new church since I moved back up to San Jose from Los Angeles). And I was on my way.

Went over to meet with my friend Liz to have coffee at Starbucks and my mom called and told me she fell and broke her leg and ankle. She goes in tomorrow for surgery to place 2 pins in her ankle which will be there for 5 to 6 months. So if you could lift her up in prayer, I would appreciate it.

Picked up a book today that should help me in putting together my portfolio. Came recommended from one of my photo profs... He and I are going to meet together and to look over my portfolio, but I just want a guideline to start with. From there he will help me with my best choices.

Well... I think that about sums up my day.

You love the news about The royal family a lot people in Holland are saying the period of mourning is to great
and i think that is also 10 days. But the normal people must all work but the government is not working.
But today can the normal people take farewell from the
old Queen till Sunday. Monday is for the family.
But did you know that the youngest daughter from the old Queen is living in America. I think in New York also here 3 children. She is seeing very bad with one eye she is blind and with the other eye she i seeing very bad. She is divorced she has been married with and American coming from Cuba. In that time has she lived in Holand but after here divorce she is going back to
America.

It is a little bit sunny in Holland it is 8*C not so warm as yesterday.

Looks like it is going to be a bee-yoo-tee-ful day here in WNC today.  Maybe I can actually get outside for a few minutes at some point.

Cremation -- I don't know that I have an opinion either way.  If someone in my family wanted to be cremated, it wouldn't bother me to have it done (other than the sadness that they were gone,ya know).  I know here in the Appalachians, cremation was taboo until just a few years ago.  It has only been in the past year or so that funeral homes changed their names to Funeral home, burial and creamation services, or soemthing like that.  I figure God made man "out of dust" he can put me together from ashes, need be.

You all may not recognize that it's me, getting her so early in the day!  I am sitting here with my coffee trying to wake up!  Ria, thanks for that funny smiley of the coffee cup and sleepy eyes.  That describes me perfectly!  haha.  It is a joy to read your posts each day, thank you for your addition to this CP site.  

Gregg, I will also pray for your mother.  I know it's hard when your parent is having problems.  I pray they can mend your mom and she will soon be on her feet again.

We went to Lubbock, TX yesterday to accompany Earl's sister to get a medical procedure done.  (In the nursing home van.  That is quite an experience riding in that van!)  We have been spending time with her lots lately, seems like it is one thing after another.  At 94 though, that is to be expected.  I could not go to Bible study Tuesday because we had to go over there to talk to her about this procedure and let her decide on it.  She is so hard of hearing it is not easy to communicate.  Earl has POA for health care - well so do I - but we would rather she make the decisions as long as she is able.  Sometimes she is too confused to make a decision.  

I got the costume finished for the Easter pageant, by the skin of my teeth!  haha. They were to have dress rehearsal last night at church, so I got it delivered there yesterday afternoon late.  

Then from there I had to go to post office to pick up a certified envelope that came while we were gone to Lubbock, but they could not leave it here of course because of needing a signature.  It was from his sister's accountant from her former hometown where I had sent everything which I could find concerning her income tax records.  I was hoping I sent everything he needed, and I guess I did, because he had it all ready to e-file for her.  All we need to do now is take it to her for her signature to give her permission to e-file it.  We will do that on our way to Amarillo today, where we will be the next 2 days.  (Doctor appointments)   So goes my days - one thing after another!  

Hubby is up now, so I must get his breakfast ready.  See y'all when we get back.

Ria That smiley describes me too.  Trying to wake up.

The dog woke me this AM,"  Brumo wanted out at about 6:00am and woke Victor up.  Vic let him out and came and cuddled with me.  Isn't it sweet when a little one wants to cuddle? They are so warm and gentle.

The girls are slowly getting up and we have a lot I want to accomplish today.  I also have a Dr's appointment so........

Good morning!  It looks to be another beautiful and WARM day here.  Yesterday was downright HOT, with not a breath of wind stirring.  That is very unusual for this area.

I didn't comment on the cremation issue.  I had always felt somehow that it was wrong.  I don't exactly know why..........maybe because those in places like India pile the bodies up and burn them publicly.  I really don't know.  If there is anything about this in the Bible, I haven't seen it, or maybe I should say I didn't recognize it.

Very few in this area are cremated, as the nearest facility doing that is in Wichita, 200 miles away.  But this past few years, I have noticed several obituaries that ended with the words "cremation took place."  So I am thinking that it may just comne down to a matter of choice.

My mother-in-law came from Germany.  She said that in her country, they buy a plot for burial, then have to purchase it again after 30 years.  If it isn't reclaimed, others are buried in the same plot.  Her mother died and was buried; then when her father died, he was cremated and his ashes were buried on top of her grave.  (Or maybe I should say shallower in that grave.)  I have done quite a lot of thinking about this, and don't really know what I believe concerning cremation.  I wish there was something definite in the Word, then we wouldn't have to wonder!

I haven't heard if the Supreme court has made a decision yet concerning our Pledge.  God, grant them wisdom, and cause them to do the right thing this time!

This is getting too long, so I will come back later and tell you the latest about Beth's problems.

Gregg~I am so sorry about your mother.  I will keep her in my prayers.
That is great that you found a Christian group outside of church.  Isn't it great how God works.  He know you needed a church and is guiding you to one.

Janice~I wish you were here so you could teach me how to sew.  I have been looking at sewing machines but haven't got the guts up enough to buy one.  I seen some cute little summer dresses that I would love to make for the girls that cost about $60.00 if I was to buy them but less if I was to make them.  Way less!  Glad you got the costumes done.  

Karma~have fun with that little one of yours.  Do you folks have to worry about bears and mountain lions sinse your up in the mountains?  Folks this way do.  Just curious.

Ria~I agree Marilyn looks very young for her age.

Hi everyone.  Gregg I am certainly sorry to hear of the broken bones that your mother has experienced and I will be praying for her.  

My wife and I have made the decision to be cremated.  We have plots in Missouri that we have had for 40 years in the cementary where my family is buried and I want my ashes taken back there at a convenient time and scattered in the area where my family is buried.  I did inquire of our minister if there was any Biblical reason not to be cremated and was advised that the Presbyterian church does not feel there is anything wrong with it.  We will have new bodies when the Lord returns and certainly won't need the bodies we have had on the earth.


It is good to see all the posts this morning.  I have another very busy day ahead, including going to Calvin Cove for singing with the adult day-care folks this afternoon.  I am still working on webpage things for our church website and also have volunteered to setup a website for our homeowner's association, which I need to get busy on.  

It is another beautiful day here in Georgia and is suppose to get into the low 70s.  Unfortunately we are having the driest March in recorded history for our area.  We definitely need some cloudy and rainy days.  

Good Morning, it is raining here this morning. I can't stay,I am in pain this morning, I need to do my stretches and weight bearing excersizes, fix my hair, brush my teeth etc. before I go to work. So I will be back later.

Thank you one and all who have said I look so young in my new picture. I am really  27 in a 64 year old body.

Gregg -- I think i failed to mention your mother.  I pray she mends and heals quickly, and painlessly.

Soni -- We do have bears around here.  Not too much of a problem where we live, but in neighboring counties, when the food supply is short, they come down into town.  I don't know about mountain lions.  Bobcats, maybe.  (They are mean little rascals).

Marilyn --  hahahahahahhahahaha

RUTH yes when we wake up the is in Canada and America starting the night. With you Ruth there is a time different from 6 hours.

JUDYB when little children are coming in your bed that is very warm, that i know from Marcel when he was a little boy on saturday and sunday he always was coming early in the morning with us in bed and that was so warm. And children when they open here eyes they are also good wake up.

Gregg, I'm so sorry to read about your Mother.  I remember what it was like to be so completely dependent on others to help me when I broke my ankle many years ago.  I will be praying for her.  We maybe should put a prayer request over in our Prayer and Praise area where some of our members check very regularly.


I always look forward to your early morning posts, Ria as you always have such a nice little poem there.  I really like today's so I'm going to repeat it:

Ohhh, Soni...  Get a good sewing machine if you buy one.  I have an Elna and I've never been sorry that I paid extra those many, many years ago and bought one of the best.  It's made many, many outfits through the years for weddings and especially for me.  The money I've saved has been monumental by sewing for myself.   I hope you do well with your Digital Photo Challenge score.  


Some day, Larry, I'd love to go with you to Calvin Cove to sing with the seniors but I'm afraid that by the time I would ever be able to do this, I'll be a terrible old senior myself!  I'd sure like to be able to do this with you.  


Marilyn,  I really like your new photo!  I'd love to be able to see you in person but if that doesn't happen, I love to look at you here beside your posts!  


I hear that there is a gale warning off the coast of Washington today.  Will that have any effect on our West Coasters?  I'm thinking of Jane, Nita and you and Al, Marilyn.


It's interesting to read the comments about cremation.  I have no idea and thought it would be interesting to get other Christian's views on this subject.  Some people are so upset if they hear of another Christian being cremated and to tell you the truth, I've always felt like you, Janet but I don't know why!

Well, kids are all busy with work and other things so I'm here again without a car to get out in.  Hopefully John and Judy will be able to give me a hand when they come down tomorrow.

Pat~I will keep that in mind about the sewing machine.  Thanks for that advice.  My mom also has a great sewing machine, I wonder if she would let me borrow it.  
Hope you get that car fixed.

UNDER GOD

Have you read or clicked on the links above in today's devotional?  It's interesting to us up here north of the border between our two countries to read about the court case regarding these two words.

It's interesting too to read that the child in this case is a born again Christian according to the news I've been listening to as is the mother of the child but that the father is an avowed athiest.  I'm watching with interest to see how this court case goes along.

I'm praying too!  (as I would think that all of us on CP would be doing.)

Since most of our daily conversations together take place here in New Every Morning, I'm going to take the liberty to copy a post made by our newest member, Neal.  It's just such a wonderful blessing to read.

Well, I haven't been to Rochester Hills in a few years and probably won't be back in that neck of the woods, because my wife's Aunt & Uncle moved.

Now how I came to the Lord, is a long story, so let me summarize:

My family is not very observant, we only went to temple for Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur.  We did go for Shabat services and I attended the Hebrew school on Sunday.  I was also Bar Mitzvahed.  I never really enjoyed going to services.  I also wondered why it was that Jews were not supposed to believe that Jesus was God's Son.

In high school I was invited to a Young Life Club and felt something in that room that I never felt before, that I was loved!  The summer after graduating I went to a YL camp and came to Christ at camp.

My parents were not too pleased when they found out that I had given my life to Christ, but that was over 15 years ago and they have learned to live with it.  If they were strict observant Jews, they would have disowned me and actually would have had a funeral for me because I would have been "dead" to them.  I am now happily married to a gentile Christian girl and have two wonderful kids.  My parents are aware of our beliefs and try to honor them.

Well, I guess that's it in a nutshell!

Wow, that's great, Neal!  I didn't know that Jew's don't believe Jesus is the son of God.  Thanks for sharing that.  I have alot to learn.  

How do you follow a post like the one that Neal posted?  That is wonderful in more ways than one, Neal!!!

I have noticed reading the obituaries around here that a lot of people are being creamated.  Also, some are having just graveside services....no viewing.  Also people are having the funerals in the churches again.  I think a lot of it is expense because you are charged by the funeral director for everytime they open the door.  (Something like a specialist charging $10 a word...it seems...for an office call)  It can become quite an expense for the family.  Me, I have my cemetery plot just up the road from me.  I have insurance for burial.  But I don't care what happens on earth after I die.  I know I am going to heaven with a new body...(size 6!!!)

I am going out to lunch with my high school friend so I have to make this quick!!!

Neil It was wonderful to read of your conversion.  

Well the snow is melting quickly.  The creek is about half way up to the road.  If the melt continues then we could be flooded out.    We can at last see the fields without snow.

Well Back to laundry I have ironing to do, and that is so tedious.  John loves freshly ironed shirts so I had better get at it.

Pat I have a chiropractors appointment at 5:15.  That will take about 1/2 hour, add 4 and a half hours and we will be there.  One thing I need to know.  Are the battery cables attached to the top or the side?  I will pick up a battery for you, hoping that will "fix" the problem.

 Here are some tips that we all should learn.

If a dog were the teacher you would learn stuff like:

Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.
Eat with gusto and enthusiasm. Stop when you have had enough.
Be loyal. Never pretend to be something you're not.

When a very young minister, I asked the famous holiness preacher,
Joseph H. Smith, whether he would recommend that I read widely in the
secular field. He replied, "Young man, a bee can find nectar in the
weed as well as in the flower." I took his advice (or, to be frank,
I sought confirmation of my own instincts rather than advice) and I
am not sorry that I did.

John Wesley told the young ministers of the Wesleyan Societies to
read or get out of the ministry, and he himself read science and
history with a book propped against his saddle pommel as he rode
from one engagement to another. Andy Dolbow, the American Indian
preacher of considerable note, was a man of little education, but I
once heard him exhort his hearers to improve their minds for the
honor of God. "When you are chopping wood," he explained, "and you
have a dull axe you must work all the harder to cut the log. A sharp
axe makes easy work. So sharpen your axe all you can."  The Size of

Home from work now. Raining a lot. I stopped at the co-op to by veggies and tea, got soaked before I got back in the car.

Pat I don't think we are going to get the Gale force winds here. I heard that Oregon got them yesterday but don't know for sure. maybe Jane or Nita can tell us.

Going to work on tying  the rest of the quilt today then  do the binding on the machine maybe? ,might do it by hand.

We had all kinds of bears when I lived in Yosemite National Park. They came right into the back yards to turn over the trash cans. We had white tailed dear all around us.

My dad and my stepmother were both cremated.  We had no viewing for either of them, simply a celebration service at our church after the cremation.  Gene and I are looking into donating our bodies to a medical school for research and/or teaching and failing that we will be cremated and with the same kind of service as my folks.

Janet and Etta Sue:  I like your new pictures!  Thanks for your good words.

We are having more company for a few days and preparing to pack the car and meander back home.  It has been interesting to be in Arizona for two months as we both found that we have strong allergies & felt miserable while having so much fun visiting with cousins and friends.  

We did see "Passion" and I had to close my eyes - even the sound effects were jarring.  Bless Mel Gibson for being strong in faith.  A must film and I want to go again and really watch it better next time but not right away.  What an ordeal for Mary, and friends, also his brother James as well.  that is not to take away any of the suffering that Jesus had and he died for my sins but sometimes the other believers have not been shown until this film.  Still thinking about this!  I see that it is being banned in some countries.

I am so sorry to hear that you have lost your very good friend Al to cancer. I know how close you were and and how much you cared for him. I pray that you will be comforted to know that he is with the Lord now and without any more pain.  I will be praying for you and for his family.
