How To Be Blessed

Everyone wants to be blessed (approved, made happy) - but not everyone achieves that status.  In the salvation provided by Jesus Christ, though, there is included "every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ . . . redemption through His Blood, and the forgiveness of sins according to the riches of His grace."  (Eph. 1:1, 7).

We need to know certain things about this Christian status that all believers have.  We need to know

       It's Benefit:  Christ's spiritual blessings in heaven - the                        forgiveness of sin.

   It's Origin:  Divine choice from eternity past and the "good    pleasure of God's will."

   It's Purpose:  Holiness and blemelessness; to be joined with    Christ.

   It's Privilege:  Adoption into God's family as beneficiaries of    Christ

   It's Cost:  The Blood of Christ.

   It's means:  Preaching of the Word leading to faith in Christ.

   It's Assurance:  The Holy Spirit as the down payment of our    inheritance

Because He Lives
(Click to hear music)

Words and music by William J. Gaither
copyright 1971

"He is not here: for he is risen, as he said.
Come, see the place where the Lord lay."
Matthew 28:6

God sent His son, they called Him, Jesus;
He came to love, heal and forgive;
He lived and died to buy my pardon,
An empty grave is there to prove my Savior lives!

Chorus
Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives, all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future,
And life is worth the living,
Just because He lives!

How sweet to hold a newborn baby,
And feel the pride and joy he gives;
But greater still the calm assurance:
This child can face uncertain days because He Lives!

Chorus
Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives, all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future,
And life is worth the living,
Just because He lives!

And then one day, I'll cross the river,
I'll fight life's final war with pain;
And then, as death gives way to vict'ry,
I'll see the lights of glory and I'll know He lives!

Chorus
Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives, all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future,
And life is worth the living,
Just because He lives!

Pastoral Ministry: Some New Mystery Bagged
For all the Athenians and the foreigners who were there spent their
time in nothing else but either to tell or to hear some new thing.
--Acts 17:21
The temptation to forget the few spiritual essentials and to go
wandering off after unimportant things is very strong, especially
to Christians of a certain curious type of mind. Such persons find
the great majors of the faith of our fathers altogether too tame
for them. Their souls loathe that light bread; their appetites
crave the gamy tang of fresh-killed meat. They take great pride in
their reputation as being mighty hunters before the Lord, and any
time we look out we may see them returning from the chase with some
new mystery hanging limply over their shoulder.
Usually the game they bring down is something on which there is a
biblical closed season. Some vague hint in the Scriptures, some
obscure verse about which the translators disagree, some marginal
note for which there is not much scholarly authority: these are
their favorite meat. They are especially skillful at propounding
notions which have never been a part of the Christian heritage of
truth. Their enthusiasm mounts with the uncertainty of their
position, and their dogmatism grows firmer in proportion to the
mystery which surrounds their subject.  The Next Chapter After the
Last, 12-13.

"Lord, keep me faithful to Your Word, give me understanding of the
unfathomable truths contained therein, but deliver me from that
danger of seeking some new insight to enhance my reputation as some
kind of brilliant scholar. Amen."

I entered a photo in the Indiana Historical Society in January.  I received a letter Saturday saying I got second place.  Now I don't know how many got first place, second place and so forth but I do know that no one in our photography guild has gotten a placing!!  And I get to go May 13 to the Center to receive my award...whatever that is!

When I got to church yesterday, there was a laptop at the duping kiosk.  That is great but what is best is the printer is super fast now.  Before it would take minutes to print 12 cassette labels....today was seconds.  The sermons were on The Sinful Woman...the prostitue washing Jesus' feet with tears, drying them with her hair and anointing his head and feet with expensive perfume.  Awesome messages.

Then last night was a bus trip to Louisville to see the Southeast Christian Church's Easter Pageant.  Again....awesome.

We didn't get home until 12:30 a.m. and since trash day was changed to Monday's, I was up at 7 a.m.  I am leaving for the dentist in a few minutes and then hopefully meeting a SrNetter who is stopping by the house on their way home to Grand Rapids Michigan...Mary Ann Tock.  Then I am going to relax!

SIN NO MORE SIN NO MORE SIN NO MORE SIN NO MORE

Janet

It sounds as if you are "off to the races", Etta Sue!  I don't have anything planned for my day, except going to work out in a little while.  I did maintenance on my computer, to get rid of all the cookies, etc, from the boys playing on it.  So far, the curser is working. :thumbsup:

We had another wonderful service last night; lots of soul searching.  The pastor propped a full length mirror up on the platform; and talked about looking in the mirror, going on our way and forgetting what manner of man we are.  The Lord led him to finish by having everyone walk up to the mirror and look at ourselves for a second or two, and then if convicted of anything in our lives; finding a place to pray about it.  Very powerful, and very good response.

I need to call and see how Beth made it through her night.

Good words today, Al.  Thanks!  :thumbsup:

Papa John

Yesterday morning we all got ready and for the first time since January Cornelia  was able to attend worship with us.  Everyone was delighted to see her and many came around and said our prayers were answered..

She was very tired.  We had a portable oxygen tank and a wheel chair and everything went very well.  She slept for two hours in the afternoon.

Ps 4:6-8
6   Many are asking, "Who can show us any good?" Let the light of your face shine upon us, O LORD.
7   You have filled my heart with greater joy than when their grain and new wine abound.
8   I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety. (NIV)    :sleep:

Eph 2:8-9  For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-- and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-- not by works, so that no one can boast.(NIV)

Good Morning. Thanks Al for the devotional today.

We had another terrific service last night,  a few more of the youth gave their hearts to Jesus. The whole service was directed to the youth.

I am going to have a talk with Pastor Leroy today. I am getting very uncomfortable about certain things, so just please keep me in your prayers today that the Holy spirit will put the words in my mouth. I want to be able to say what I have to say in a very nice way.

Good day .
Hello Pat -
Glad for this devotional; today.
Good to know you and your wife Papa John were able to go to church. i pray each day your wife will feel stronger.
  Janet-  Glad to hear of your grandson decision for the Lord

We  had a great service last night ,  our Pastor spoke about asking the Lord for a miracle in our lives. As we gathered around the altar each one asked the Lord for a miracle in their life-some wanted  a healing  miracle-others fiancial- some needed to see a salvation miracle in their family. One brother said he had asked for  a miracle in his business.
We are believing to come back and report great things God has done.

Its snowing here today and we are expecting some nasty weather in the next few days.
But this too shall pass :)

Hi All I am home again. I went by the church after work to see if the WM"S needed anymore help with the Easter Baskets and had lunch there, visited for awhile then went into Pastor Danny's office to get him to print up some more of his letters for the Welcome Folders that I hand out the Visitors, While he was doing that I visited with the Evangelist, Craig Lorick, for awhile. His sermon tonight is titled "Who's you Daddy?

The talk I had with Pastor Leroy today went very well. Before I could even get it out he said what I wanted to say. Thank you Jesus.

Right now my next door neighbor is mowing my front yard. She said she wanted to get it done before the rain started again, there is another storm coming in that is supposed to drop at least an inch of rain tonight and tomorrow . I am so grateful for such nice neighbors. Now all I have to do is get someone to mow the backyard.

Hi, friends,

I'm thankful today for a small but significant blessing. One of the reasons I haven't been here much is that I couldn't get the type to enlarge enough for me to see it.

Tonight it's perfect!

Love to all,
Ruth Ann

Oh dear!  Looks like I've missed a couple of days.   :'(

Not much happening here - Saturday putting up two more cows and changing the card showing the total amount collected so far ($1,047), Sunday service and trying to figure out my computer's problem.

When I shut down the computer it snaps and snarls like there's a short in it someplace but when I watch the inside I can't see any sparks or anything.  Then when I boot up the next day instead of a black background for the dos screens it's lavender.  But then everything seems to work fine.  I think I have all the important files backed up on CD's, but tomorrow I'm going to see if I can get an external hard drive and make sure everyting gets backed up...  just in case.   :-\  Actually, I suspect it's either the monitor or the video card.

Fortunately I can still use the Mac to get online if the PC does give up.  It's just that so much of my free-lance work requires Microsoft Word and Excell, and a later version of Word Perfect than is available for the Mac.  On well, the Lord will direct me.  I just hope I hear Him and don't mistake my own wishes for His leading.   :idiot:

Hmmm.  That little weather stickie isn't very accurate.  It's showing 43 at 8:55 and it's actually 33 here.

Hi, all.  Nothing much happening here.  God is on His Throne, and I belong to Him. :)  All things work together......

We had sunshine today and it warmed up some.  It's supposed to rain again tonight.

Papa John, so glad to hear that Corneilia went to church yesterday.  Bless her heart.

And that's all I have to say, I guess.  I'm reading, however, so don't stop writing. lol    Nita

Well we didn't go to small group.  Melaura came home from school feavered amd really sick.  I cancelled cadets and paid a bill then headed home.

Does anyone know where the verse is located that goes something like this?  "The Lord has restored the years the locusts have stollen".  I believe it is in one of the minor prophets but the esearches I have done are to no avail.

I am still overwhelmed at all that God has done.  I stand in awe.

GTG the sickie needs me
God Bless

Hi everyone.  This has been a most frustrating day.  Pat's aunt brought the computer here and the last time she tried to get online she couldn't.  I thought it would be simple to solve but when I booted the computer the Adminstrator logon screen came up (and it shouldn't have) so I had to run Windows in repair mode.  That didn't work.  So I tried reinstalling Windows and that didn't work.  My friend Rod, who is pretty much an expert, came over but he had no success in getting the modem to be recognized.  Then my son was over for dinner tonight and he remembered I had a card modem for that computer.  I found it and we installed it but the computer still couldn't see it.  We finally had to give up in frustration.  She can still play games on the computer but no longer access the Internet.  She needs to buy a new computer but seriously doubt that she will.  We had given her this computer to start with.

Papa John, glad to see that Cornelia was able to attend the service.

Pat and Ruth Ann good to see you both back online.

Al, thanks for the devotional.  I have read all the postings.
