JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Oldiesmann: So sorry for your loss Carol. Praying for you and your family :( 2022-05-01, 17:13:05

From Believing to Perceiving

"Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us."
(Romans 8:37)

The Bible calls us kings and priests (Rev. 1:6) and world overcomers (1 John 5:4). For many of us, those phrases are still becoming real. We're still learning who we really are.

If you'll look in 1 Chronicles, chapter 14, you'll see that David had a similar problem. He'd been anointed king by the prophet Samuel when he was just a teenager. He'd known for years that someday he'd rule over Israel. Yet somehow, it hadn't really sunk in.

But look what happens in verse 2: "And David perceived that the Lord had confirmed him king over Israel, for his kingdom was lifted up on high, because of his people Israel." Finally, it dawned on him! David perceived that the Lord had confirmed him king. I can just imagine David saying to himself, "I'm king. I'm actually king! I AM KING!" At that moment, being king ceased to be something David had only thought about. It became something he really was. He could see himself king.

What does that have to do with you and me? Much like David, you and I have been given a royal office. But it's not until we believe it that we can exercise the power or authority that goes with that office.

If you're sick, you can yell, "By His stripes I'm healed," 50 times a day. You can hope for healing. You can try to believe for healing till your hair turns gray. But if you don't really perceive yourself as whole and healthy in Christ Jesus, if you don't see yourself as "the healed" instead of "the sick," you won't get any supernatural help. Yet once that realization hits you that you are, in fact, "the healed," no one--not even the devil himself--will be able to keep you from getting well.

Step over the line from trying to believe to actually knowing by dwelling on the Word of God. Read it and think about it. Practice seeing yourself through the eyes of the Word until the reality of your royalty in Christ rises up in you!

Thank you Janet.  WE are overcomers.  YEs that is good and Kings and Priests.  Yes.

Ritz thank you for that verse.  It is the right one.

Melaura is still asleep.  She is really sick with this flu.  The Dr's office said it has been known to hang on for 9 - 10 days.  Her attitude in life is "I don't have time to be sick!"  I think She is needing time to let her body catch up with her mantra.  I think that is the right word.

We didn't have the heat on after lunch yesterday at all.  It is c-c-c-cold in here and I need to head down and start the fire.  Be back later.

Praying for all of you folkstoday as I do my work.

Pastoral Ministry: Just a Huckster

Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I
do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forward to
those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize
of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
--Philippians 3:13-14
Some young preacher will study until he has to get thick glasses to
take care of his failing eyesight because he has an idea he wants to
become a famous preacher. He wants to use Jesus Christ to make him a
famous preacher. He's just a huckster buying and selling and getting
gain. They will ordain him and he will be known as Reverend and if he
writes a book, they will make him a doctor. And he will be known as
Doctor; but he's still a huckster buying and selling and getting
gain. And when the Lord comes back, He will drive him out of the
temple along with the other cattle.

We can use the Lord for anything--or try to use Him. But what I'm
preaching and what Paul taught and what was brought down through the
years and what gave breath to the modern missionary movement that
you and I know about and belong to was just the opposite: "O, God,
we don't want anything You have, we want You." That's the cry of a
soul on its way up.  Success and the Christian, 29.

"Lord, give us that hunger to know You; deliver us from the pride
that makes us want to use You. Let me pray today with John, 'He must
increase, but I must decrease.' Amen."

Good Morning Great Devotional Janet.

I couldn't get on CP this morning and had to run internet options and clean my cookies and files then I had to shut down and start all over again. Aha  Success.

Not much new here today. I am going to work at Jan's this morning and this afternoon is mine. I haven't gone to pick up the Heart Holter yet, I think it is better for me to wait until the Revival excitement is over.

Hi everyone.  Nothing much to write about since posting late last evening.  Our house guests left about 8 am on their way to Roanoke, Virginia for a visit with the cousin's daughter and grandchildren, then to the son's house in Virginia and finally home in Delaware in another week.

My wife just brought her cell phone in.  She had placed it on top of the toaster oven and our daugher turned the oven on without noticing the phone on top.  The phone got too hot and it apparently ruined the phone.  Always something.

Janet, thanks for the fine devotional today.

I plan a quiet day at home, after having had coffee this morning.

JudyB, sorry to read that your daughter has the flu.  I agree with her attitude that illness just gets in the way of the active life I want to live.

Hope everyone has a good day.  We are having a little rain but suppose to clear off this afternoon and be warmer all week.  The weather bureau says we should be free of frost as of now for this season.

Papa John

Good morning.  Things are warming up here today and it is about time.

Judy B. I think the passage you are looking for is:

Joel 2:25  And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you.

Papa John

Eph 2:8-9  For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-- and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-- not by works, so that no one can boast.(NIV)

Hello, friends.  I hope the wind isn't blowing where you live, unless you happen to like wind.  It is blowing hard here, and I hate it! :P >:( Bleaughhhh!

Darrel and I went and worked out, then stopped by my sister Jeanie's house to say goodbye to my older sister Shirley and her son who have been there all week putting new siding on Jeanie's house.  They were doing the final touches, and will be heading home soon.  It was fun to have her here for a few days, we don't see her often enough.

Pat, I hope both you and your computer are doing well today!  <3

Larry, sorry about Pat's cell phone.  That's a real downer, as is any unnecessary expense.  I know how frustrating it can be.

I think we might go eat at the Senior Citizens today---they are having roast beef, and that's usually one of their better meals.

Papa John ~ I am so happy that Cornelia went to church with you.  I am sure it was a happy tired and happy rest when she returned back home.

JudyB ~ Papa John is too speedy.  I found the same book, chaper and verse for your request.  My electronic Franklin Bible is a great concordance.

I got home from the Dentist in time to meet Mary Ann.  What a delightful woman.  Papa John, have you met Mary Ann...Norm's sister?  We talked here at my house and I asked her if she would like to go for Pizza and we could talk more before she left.  She had to eat somewhere before getting to Grand Rapids so we enjoyed pizza and talked some more.

Last evening was Small Groups Bible Study.  Our study book is titled 'The Best Question Ever' by Andy Stanley...Charles Stanley's son.  The lessons are accompanied with a DVD of Andy talking.  Then we have discussion questions to 'see' what was talked about.  Really awesome study.  I recommend it to anyone!

Tonight is Photography Lessons in Anderson.

NOW I remember what I forgot a day or so ago!!

CONGRATULATIONS, ETTA SUE for having your photo chosen for an award!!  How exciting!  I'm so proud of you!

And I'm so happy for you, Papa John and Cornelia, that she could go to church with you again.  I'm sure that made her feel she was truly back home.  (((hugs)))

Our snow is only a memory now.  And I hope this old wind doesn't suck every bit of moisture out of the soil.  Anybody have some rain they don't need?  Send it here!

Bad news........the people did the MRI of Beth's back when the order was for one of her NECK........now we have to go get another one on Thursday.  I hope they don't bill for both of them.  Those things cost $1400.00 EACH.  :ticked:

Nothing new around here, I guess.
My book Rising Above available at JanetDamon.com

Sue

Jasnet, they shouldn't bill you for both MRI's.  It was their mistake, not yours!  That is just my opinion however and probably doesn't hold much water in the grand scheme of things.   ;D

Marilyn, you said you were going to wait to get the Holter.  I remember when my husband had them (several over the 7 years he knowingly lived with heart disease) and his doctors said they didn't care what he was doing, they wanted him to weat it.  If the activity was unusual then they wanted an explanation but said that all situations could cause fluctuations in the electrics of the heart and that it really didn't matter what he was doing.  I probably haven't said this as well as it should be so please forgive me.

I'm just home from work, and must get busy and get laundry and housework finished.  Have a good day everyone!

Thank you Janet for the devotional today.  My Tuesday was spent helping a new member of our church move into his apartment.  He just arrived in Japan from the US via Korea, and will be working here and attending our church.

Add to the list of pastoral duties, moving!  And I have the sore shoulder to prove it ;D.  It is such a blessing, though, to be able to "minister" in ways that are "practical", as well as doing the bible teaching, praying, counseling.

Gotta finish my  :coffee: and get back into Jeremiah 11.  God is not playing with Judah!!

Ruth Ann Bice

Hi, friends,

It's a beautiful, warm day here in Nashville. I saw the doctor about my bad ear. We're going to try medications for the next 3 weeks, and if not lots better he's going to put a tube in it. I've had it done several times before, so won't be anything very out of the ordinary for me - just a big expense.

Y'all have a good evening.

Ruth Ann

Good evening to all and the morning devotional was great thank you.

Pappa John.  It is so good to here that your wife Corneila was able to go to church she must have been so excited to be there. Praise the Lord that he gave her the strength.

Again it was so ghreat to have more guests in our home this weekend.  Two ladies that we had one was From Ottawa Ontario and the other from the city of Hamilton Ontario they are both wonderful Christians and the older lady I met when I was still driving for Greyhound.  She will be 89 this July and you cannot slow her down and she always has some stories to tell you of how the Lord gives her oppertunities to witness for him.  She came from Holland 45 years ago with her husband and they were salvation army workers and the stories about those years are unbelievable so it was a real blessing to have them with us on Sunday and Monday morning.

If you missed it the other day we had missioneries at our house on Saturday also.

Please continue to pray that the Lord will keep our house busy for him and that souls will get save through our witness.

God is so good to all of us Praise his Name and God Bless you all.
