JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

And Elienai, and Zilthai, and Eliel. . . .
1 Chronicles 8:20

Do these sound like familiar names? Probably not. But God knows who they are and He even included them in His Word.

Do you think no one sees you or cares for you? God does.

He has another book called the Lamb's Book of Life in which are written the names of all who have put their trust in the Lord Jesus Christ for their salvation. As a result they will spend eternity with Him.

Whatever troubles you may be experiencing, however lonely you may feel, God sees.

You are not forgotten, because He cares for you.
--Warren Hagey

His Eye Is On The Sparrow

Piano Accompaniment

Why should I feel discouraged?
Why should the shadows come?
Why should my heart be lonely, and long for heaven and home,
When Jesus is my portion? My constant friend is He
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.

Chorus:
I sing because I'm happy,
I sing because I'm free,
For His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know He watches me.

"Let not your heart be troubled," His tender words I hear,
And resting on His goodness, I lose my doubts and fears
Tho' by the path He leadeth, but one step I may see;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.

Chorus:
I sing because I'm happy,
I sing because I'm free,
For His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know He watches me.

Whenever I am tempted, whenever clouds arise,
When songs give place to sighing, when hope within me dies,
I draw the closer to Him, from care He sets me free;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.

Chorus:
I sing because I'm happy,
I sing because I'm free,
For His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know He watches me.

Such a comforting devotional today.  Thank-you Pat.  I am glad of the comfort today.

"The Holy Spirit not only gives us strength to resist the devil, but wisdom to recognise him.  We need this help very sorely, for Satan can still appear what he was originally, "the light bearer."  "Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light" (2 Cor 11:14).

In the Wiertz Museum at Brussels, there is a wonderful picture of the devil as a beautiful, radiant angel, with wicked eyes, from which all the light of love and holiness had gone.

There is an old legend (some think true...I do) that he once appeared in this radiant glory to St. Martin, the great Bishop of Tours, claiming to be not onl an angel, but our blessed Lord Himself.  He demanded St. Martin's worship and the bishop, undazzled by his beauty, answered quietly: "Show me thy hands and thy feet."

PAT thank you very much for the very good devotional this morning. But it is true God is seeing everything. I say we sometimes forget that sometimes when we are lonely or sad. Also when we are together with other people then we can feel us lonely. But He is always with us He forget us never
I thank GOD for that.
Thank you also for the nice hymn "HIS EYES IS ON THE
SPARROW"

WE are busy upstairs we are chanching the bedrooms. One room there is staying a couch but there
from we can also make from a bed for 2 persons
but that is now also being the living room from my son
there he has his great TV and computer  there he can take a look to videos's , DVD's  playing with game computers. And on his sleeping room there he has a little TV so he can also take a look to TV when he is
lying on bed. But his livingsroom is greater there he can also sit with his friends.

EPHESIANS 1 : 4
For He chose us in Him before the creation of
the world to be holy and blameless in his sight.

 THE FORGIVING EYES OF LOVE

          How gratefull i am, Lord,
that when You look upon me,
You bypass my imperfect outward appearance
and my even less perfect heart
to see me as Your child,
             redeemed by the Cross,
made acceptable by the sacrifice of Your SON...
Thank You, Lord for looking at me
trough the forgiving eyes of love.

This morning I took a tour through the introductions. I'll post in there a bit about my journey with our Lord (but not this morning - not enough time to think through what I'd like to say).

I'm SO very thankful for this wonderful site - and even more thankful that I can read more consistently since my son worked on my computer a bit.

There's lots to praise Him for - life itself, love, friendship, the support of our Christian friends, worship, the Bible and wonderful Christian books, and for the measure of health we each have (some have better health, but for those of us with some problems, maybe it's because we need to focus more on Him).

Well, I must go, just wanted to praise Him for His goodness to me this morning.

Good Morning Everyone. Well home again. Had an uneventful trip this time but the weather in Va. was just great. Was even able to sleep at night without the truck running to stay warm. Thats a good thing.

Pat    I even went right through Danville this time to get to my pick up

Heather   I read your post about Mel Gibson again and that was an interesting bit of trivia. It is amazing how well he recovered from that ordeal as there doesn.t seem to be anything abnormal about his features today.

Well we are getting just a dusting of snow here this morning but spring is on it's way as I got bugs on my windshield for the first time since last fall on this trip to VA. I never knew that bugs on the windshield looked so beautiful. But I guess when one has had it with winter the way I have had it this year anything is an improvement.

Well I am going to be ho,e this time for 3 days at least, maybe if everything works well, it may even extend a couple of days, depending on how the trips line up next week. Judy will have to adjust to having me around for a bit. Oh well she will get used to it. My surgery to my hand has been cancelled again. This has been just over a year that we have been dealing with this matter. I told the Doctors office to take me off the list and if this becomes more urgent then the matter will be dealt with at that time. So much for Government assisted medicine. They seem to be into reactive medicine here in Ontarion rather than proactive. The thing is if the Government and the medical profession would stop slinging mud at each other, they would likely get more accomplished for the people.

Well got to go for now. Will be back on line over the next few days from time to time. Everyone have a Blessed Day.

Papa John

Good morning everyone.  Good to see each one of you today.

Pat, a very good devotional this morning to remind us that each person is important to God.  I thought of the fact that not only is every single person in the mind of God but no individual can hide from the very presence of God.

Ps 139:1-10
1   O LORD, you have searched me and you know me.
2   You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar.
3   You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways.
4   Before a word is on my tongue you know it completely, O LORD.
5   You hem me in-- behind and before; you have laid your hand upon me.
6   Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain.
7   Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence?
8   If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.
9   If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea,
10   even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.
 (NIV)

Well, Cornelia and I have decided to go see THE PASSION.  I think we will go on Monday.  It is going to be discussed in our Wednesday night Bible class.

--- Papa John    <:))))><<

Eph 2:8-9  For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-- and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-- not by works, so that no one can boast.(NIV)

Good Morning. Thank you Pat for the devotion today. God sees and knows everything we say or do even before we say or do it.  He knws even the people we as Cristians ten to over look.

Today I am dreading going to Bea's house. I have just about had it with her and her son's foul language and prejudice againt every nationality except Portuguese and whites. All my children are 1/2 Mexican and I am very offended by her prejedice. More than just offended at the foul language.

I am sorry to be unloading this on you but what are brothers and sisters in Christ for but to tell our troubles too and ask for prayer.

As I was praying this morning , I feel that the Lord spoke to my heart for me to tell them just how much it all is so offensive to me and to please show me some respect by not using my Lord's name in vain and the F word every sentence and speaking out the predudices. I do not want to hear anymore of it.

My it is slow here today.

Pat it is always good to know that He DOES see us and know our comings and goings.  I always tell the girls that it doesn't matter that I don't see everything that they do,  The Almighty God sees everything including what they don't want dad or I to see.  A good reminder for all of us.

It is so good to have John home.   Never fear John You are welcome home!

We have snow coming down here.  The melting snow has slowed, so the risk of flooding has eased for the moment.  BUT it is sure nice to see grass again!

Know that each of you are prayed for and each situation in the prayer forum.

Have a good Godly Day

I just received this from my cousin, and it is certainly worth passing on:

Recognizing a stroke

This might be a lifesaver if we can remember the three questions!
Is It a Stroke?
This was published in a monthly newsletter where a friend of mine lives and she sent it on. I had never heard this advice before and hadn't a clue. Perhaps you hadn't either and would like to file it away in the back of your head.
Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster. The stroke victim may suffer brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke. Now doctors say any bystander can recognize a stroke asking three simple questions:

* ask the individual to smile.
* ask him or her to raise both arms.
* ask the person to speak a simple sentence.

If he or she has trouble with any of these tasks, call 9-1-1 immediately and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher. After discovering that a group of nonmedical volunteers could identify facial weakness, arm weakness and speech problems, researchers urged the general public to learn the three questions. They presented their conclusions at the American
Stroke Association's annual meeting last February. Widespread use of this test could result in prompt diagnosis and treatment of the stroke and prevent brain damage."

You're welcome, Jenny.  I just wish that the friend my Mom called nearly five years ago when she had her stroke had recognized the signs.  She is a reflexologist, and wasted nearly an hour rubbing Mom's feet before she even called my sister!  Jeanie said "Well, call the ambulance and get her to the hospital!"  But too much time had been wasted, and Mom hasn't been able to walk since, and lost most of the use of her right hand and arm, and also her hearing in the right ear.  :(

Zach, I am looking forward to seeing your bay blades!!  And I love you, too!

I do not mean in any way to make anyone feel bad, but please go to snopes.com to check out that story about Mel Gibson.  It does have some basis in fact, but has been greatly exaggerated.  We need to be careful to stay with the truth.

It is raining here! :) :D ;D :o ::)  Yesss!!!  And has been raining since around midnight last night.  I am wondering if my ladies will come out for class today.

I will be back later.  I finally fell asleep in the wee hours of the morning, so slept in late today, and have lots to do, as usual.

I just got back from my annual exam at the doctor's office.  Fun and games!!!   ::) ::)  Now I am waiting for an appointment to have a colonoscopy done...routine for ages 50, 60 & 70.  I am 61.  Why didn't I have it done last year?  I had blood drawn and have to wait for the results from that before mailing in my renewal for my RX's.  Fun and games!!!

Jerry went with me then we had breakfast out.  Then the grocery, then AAA to order a Triptik for Precious Moments Chapel for April 1 when Ivalou, 2 other ladies and I are leaving.  Also picked up the new Missouri Tour Book.  I love going to AAA.  Get all that stuff and it is all free after your membership fee.  Then I had to go to the bank and we are now back home.  Gloomy, rainy weather but 46°.  I'll take that temperature.

Tomorrow Ivalou and I are leaving around 1 p.m. to go with some other ladies from her church for a Women's Retreat.  I think there are only 16 going.  That is a nice group....cozier since it is small.  We will be returning sometime Saturday....depends on if we stop at the Outlet Mall south of Indy.  The retreat is at Brown County.  The little town of Nashville, Indiana, is a tourist town.  Lots of novelty, craft, artist shops there.  Lots of walking.  Lots of food!  KaChing, KaChing!!

Janey I'm  glad that you mentioned Snoped.com I was going to say something when it was first posted but some how it slipped my mine. I think I have received that from 4-5 people for the second time around. The first was last summer. and I passed it on before  checking snopes.

TTYL got to go to work now. Would appreciate prayers re; the situation I described on page 1.

Hi everyone.  I am awaiting my wife to get home so I can help her unload some groceries.  She went to the church to prepare the children's packets for Sunday and was then going to Aldi's.  I wonder if she didn't stop somewhere else as well.

Marilyn, sorry to hear that your work environment is so undesirable.  It must make your hours very long there.  I hope you do speak to them and ask that they abstain from such language in your presence.  Prejudice is really terrible.

Etta Sue, hope you have a great time on the retreat and then on your upcoming trip.  We got a trip tik when we went to Kentucky last year and the maps are great.  Sure you are glad that your exam is over, at least part of it.

Janet, thanks for sharing the info on recognizing strokes.  We were in the room at the hosptial with my dad when he started to have a stroke.  Fortunately the cardiolgist came at that moment and instantly took charge or the situation and my dad didn't have any impairment from the experience.  Some years earlier he had lost hearing in one ear and some of his sight in one eye with a stroke.  Sorry that your mother didn't have a better experience.

JudyB and Bonesy, glad to hear that you will have a few days together.  Know it must be tough to be separated so much.

Papa John, I will be interested in your comments on "The Passion".  We haven't decided when to see it but probably will in a few days.  I heard on the radio this morning (and this may be another tale) that as the man who wrote the music for the film worked on his computer he would often get an image of satan on his screen but that he worked through it.  They told the source but don't remember what it was.

Sonja, it sounds like you are becoming known for your photography in your area.  Hope the job works out for you if that is something you want to do.  We will be waiting to hear what you decide.

Ria, it sounds like you will have a very nice setup for your son.  Don't make it too comfortable or he may decide not to get out on his own.  Having a daughter that is 39 and still living at home, not because we wish it to be that way but for economic necessity) I know what can happen.  ::) ::)

Ruth Ann, I know you experience so many health related matters in your life.  However, it is good to read your praises today.  Helps to keep things in perspective.

In my devotional reading this morning these two sentences really stood out and are so true:

QuoteThroughout time, the things that have remained essentially unchanged are the messages found in the Bible.  No matter what we do or where we go in our lives, the Bible will always remain true.  Source: These Days for March 4, 2004.

Jenny.............

Wow, did you ever touch on something most Christians and certainly the world, are neither aware of, or may not wish to believe.

Satan WILL show himself as an angel of light, and many Christians will fall away from their faith to apostasy because Satan may one day perfom one, two or more miracles in the world and they will witness them either in person, or will see them on TV.  How easy to then say "I saw it for myself, and only our Lord could do such works of wonder." Unbelievers may say, "I now know what the Christians were saying, and they will buy into Satan's great lies just before the end.  He IS beautiful, but stupid.

And once we were there.  Awesome when we think about it.  You don't have to put up with it.  Our Lord tells us not to fellowship with them, but we can (And you are) pray for them.  Your God given (new) ears don't have to listen to it.  Shake the dust from your feet and walk away.  I'm sure you also know that you can shower them with hot coals of the Lord's love.  You are a glowing light in a very dark room Marilyn, and your shining light is an offense to them, causing them to show their indignation toward your love of the Lord.  They know exactly what they are doing Marilyn.  You are being tested, and as "Our Daily Bread" says today: "Life's burdens are designed not to break us, but to bend us toward the Lord."

Hey Mr.Lee, Do you know any good Ideas for a website name. I am making my own website and need a good name. Ms.Jenny said it should be Zac's bey or Squadron Leader bey.

Janet...........

Your post regarding strokes is timely. We old ducks might not believe we are vulnerable to having a stroke, but oh how wrong we are.  Terrible things can happen quite suddenly, and we are not prepared when they do.  Your suggestions should be jotted down in our memory banks for future (future?) use.  After my heart surgery I had two Tias, and they happen in the twinkling of an eye.

Thanks

Lee Kirkwood

Zach........

The first thing that came to mind was, "Zach's Nest."  Why "Nest"? simply because not only your thoughts, but everyone else's thought will come to Your Nest to roost.  A nest is a place of rest.

What ever you choose will be appropriate.

      A W TOZER.

OH, FOR SPIRIT- FILLED LEADERS IN OUR CHURCHES, MAY WE DESERVE THEM. :)

The work of a minister is altogether too difficult for any man. We are driven to God for wisdom.

Pastoral Ministry: Worthy to Lead

Paul, an apostle (not from men nor through man, but through Jesus Christ and God the Father who raised Him from the dead).... --Galatians 1:1

Conformity to the Word of God is always right, but obedience to religious leaders is good only if those leaders prove themselves worthy to lead. Leadership in the church of Christ is a spiritual thing and should be so understood by everyone. It takes more than a ballot to make a leader....

If the church is to prosper spiritually she must have spiritual leadership, not leadership by majority vote. It is highly significant that when the apostle Paul found it necessary to ask for obedience among the young churches he never appealed to them on the grounds that he had been duly elected to office. He asserted his authority as an apostle appointed by the Head of the church. He held his position by right of sheer spiritual ascendancy, the only earthly right that should be honored among the children of the new creation. The Warfare of the Spirit, 162-164.

"Renew within me, even today, a sense of my divine call. Then help me to live a holy life, exemplary in faithfulness, so that I might indeed be a leader worthy to lead. Amen."

Thank you Mr.Lee. I will think on that.
