Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

One can never pay in gratitude; one can only pay "in kind' somewhere else in life.~~~Anne Morrow Lindbergh

Life is a series of payments.  The common expression, "What goes around, comes around," is a truth that governs each of our lives.  As women and as members of the human family, we have received untold "payments" from others.  On occasion, the payment may not have been we'd have chosen for ourselves.  It takes the distance of time to realize that our payments are meant for our good.  And we can share the goodness; in fact, we need to share the goodness with one another.  If we give to another the joy given to us, if we give to another the understanding given to us, if we give to another the friendship given to us, we will be ready to receive more in kind.

You and I meet today to make payments.  I will receive yours gladly.

Jesus has a "come as you are" party---then He changes you from the inside out!

Good food for thought, Janet. Hope your travels are safe.

Sue

Some good news....my car will be fixed tomorrow, and the used vehicle insurance package is picking up most of the tab.  I only have to pay the first $150 of the repair, and they will pay the other $300.

Time for bed.

Night everyone.

Jane Walker

Thanks for the devotional, Janet.  Life is, indeed, a series of payments ... both by me and to me.  I echo Ruth Ann in wishing you safe travels today!

Hey there Ruth Ann ...I pray you have a God blessed day today!

Hi Sue ... I'm glad you are getting your car back and that it isn't costing you too terribly much.  God is good ... All the time!
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Marilyn

Good Morning to one and all who will enter in today. Janet thank you for the good thoughts for today.  Jane have a great day. Ruth Ann may your day also be blessed.

Nothing much new on my agenda today. Fay gave me the afternoon off yesterday so I got a few things accomplished around here. Laundry weed wacked the back yard, vacuumed the carpets. Sunday I cut out squares for a quilt and today I will cut the rest of them and get that started.

So have a Blessed day everyone.

karmat

Good morning all.  It just occurred to me that I have been reading over the past couple of days and have not posted.

We are doing pretty good.  It is snowing right now, with high winds (predicted to be up to 50mph.)

To those of you that are sick/were sick -- I hope you are feeling better, now.  Being sick is no fun, whatever the circumstances.

To those that are just busy -- here's  a quick "HI"  HI.

janet, thanks for posting the devotion.

Laters, all.  Take care.

Nita

Good morning.  It looks like it'll be another beautiful day here where Jane and I live.

I don't have anything to say, but wanted to say hi.

Papa John

Good to see each one this morning.  Janet, Ruth Ann, Sue, Jane, Marilyn, T-Bear,  Karma and Nita.

It is cold here this morning and the sun was shining but I think some clouds have moved in.

Marilyn, my Social Security comes in on the 3rd of the month every time.  I can check my balance on line and it is always there.  That is one thing the government does well.  Sometimes a bill has to wait a few days until the 3rd to be paid.

I hope you all have a good day.  Cornelia and I are now in the book of Judges in our daily reading.  Characteristic of those days is the statement:
"In those days there was no king in Israel, but every man did that which was right in his own eyes."  Judges  17:6

We all need to understand today that there IS a King.  He is the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords.  Instead of doing what is right in our own eyes we need to do what is right in the sight of God.

Isa 55:7-9
7   Let the wicked forsake his way and the evil man his thoughts. Let him turn to the LORD, and he will have mercy on him, and to our God, for he will freely pardon.
8   "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the LORD.
9   "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.  (NIV)

Eph 2:8-9  For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-- and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-- not by works, so that no one can boast.(NIV)

It does seem like an intriguing conversation that Marilyn had with her landlord.  God is good all the time.  And, thanks, Jane, for welcoming me back to the fold.  I have a cold but I am doing fine.  I didn't melt, Larry.  Not sweet enough to melt.  Burst my bubble.  I thought I was.  Thanks, Chris, for the Mel Gibson news.  Why did they have to put...
QuoteThe follow-up to last year's gory depiction of Christ's crucifixion?
They could have used a different word than 'gory'.  Whew!  Puff!  Puff! Janet wears me out with all her comings and goings.  No wonder she is little!!!  Liz, I was disappointed that Mel Gibson's Passion of the Christ didn't win any Oscars but it was great that it was nominated a few times.  The girls are different, Judy.  Inky has been sleeping on my lap...she never did that much before.  And Ali is the room wherever I go.  I do think they missed me.  Hi, Sonja.  Take all the time you want with those wonderful children.  I remember doing what you did, Ruth Ann, while I was working.  Hurrying around isn't fun.  Sue, so happy that your insurance is helping with getting your car repaired.  It is difficult without wheels.  Wow!  Glad to hear that things are back to normal at TBears home.  This cold weather may kill those germs without opening windows.  Karma, it is snowing here too.  Cold...only 23°.  Brrrr!  Hi, to Nita, who has nothing to say....Hi to Papa John.  I always love to see his green posts.  Such interesting scriptures and devotions. [/size][/b]

Well, today I have an appointment to get squeezed.  The ladies know what I am talking about.  It is cold so I need to remember I am in Indiana and not in Florida.

Nice devotional, Janet.  Also thanks to Papa John.  I get so much from your postings.

Slightly cloudy here on the island, nice though!  Misty is outside enjoying the backyard.  She chased a male cat out the other day.  (heh, heh)  Lots of dogs and cats in the area and we do not want them coming in the yard.....This cat got quite bold and was coming on the patio.

Speaking of pets, do any of you folks go to:   www.Dogster.com

                                                              www.Catster.com

They are interesting sites for pet lovers.

Yes, it was sad that Passion did not get more notice at the awards.  Wonder how this new movie will be treated?  Will be interesting to follow it's progress.

I enjoyed reading all the posts this morning and find it is possible to sit a little longer at the computer.  Here is a small smile:

Blaming God for Messes
My husband and I are always talking to our son about all the wonderful things God has made. We ask him questions like "Who made the sun?" and "Who made the rain?"

One evening, I looked at the toys scattered on the floor and asked, "Who made this mess?"

After thinking for a few minutes, my son said, "God did!"

Pleasant day all and God Bless.

Liz

Pastoral Ministry: A Shaky Foundation

Thus says the Lord: "Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, let not
the mighty man glory in his might, nor let the rich man glory in his
riches; but let him who glories glory in this, that he understands
and knows Me...."
--Jeremiah 9:23-24

It is true that much church activity is thrown back upon a shaky
foundation of psychology and natural talents. It is sad but true that
many a mother-in-law is actually praying that her handsome son-in-law
may be called to preach because "he would have such a marvelous
pulpit presence."

We live in a day when charm is supposed to cover almost the entire
multitude of sins. Charm has taken a great place in religious
expression. I am convinced that our Lord expects us to be tough
enough and cynical enough to recognize all of this that pleases the
unthinking in our churches: the charm stuff, the stage presence in
the pulpit, the golden qualities of voice....

I feel sorry for the church that decides to call a pastor because "his
personality simply sparkles!" I have watched quite a few of those
sparklers through the years. In reality, as every kid knows at Fourth
of July time, sparklers can be an excitement in the neighborhood--but
only for about one minute! Then you are left holding a hot stick that
quickly cools off in your hand.  Tragedy in the Church: The Missing
Gifts, 32-33.

"Lord, confirm for each of us as pastors our divine call, that we
might indeed build on a strong foundation. Then bring conviction and
repentance to any in our congregations who are judging us with the
wrong criteria. Amen."

Hi everyone.  I have had a very busy day but wanted to at least stop in and say hi.  Good to see everyone posting and welcome to ynnad777.

We just got back from going out to eat with the friends we visited in Florida.  I think I mentioned they had made a fast trip back on Wednesday as a home in the retirement community where they want to live had become available.  However, that did not work out as the house was located right next to a very busy street and they decided to pass on it and wait for another to become available.  They didn't stop in after we ate as they wanted to get their car packed up to return to Florida in the morning as it has turned cold here.

Today was Calvin Cove day and this morning I had to go to the medical facility to have some blood drawn in preparation for seeing the urologist next week to check on the progress of my cancer treatment and to pick up some medicine.  My friend Rod went with me and we stopped at the computer store.  I got a USB 2 card with 4 hubs and an external hard drive that they had on sale. As soon as I finish here I am going to install the card in my desktop and then try out my new hard drive.

Hope that Janet has had a good trip today with Beth.  Tbear, glad to see your positive news.

Samantha

I have a bible question?

Matthew 18: 19.  Does it just apply to the verses around it (15-20)?  Or in everday situations?  Any help is greatly appreciated?

Thanks,
Samantha

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not on thy own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him and he will direct thy paths.

Samantha - it's my opinion that verse 19 applies almost exclusively to vss. 15-18.  The particular local church is viewed as judge and jury.  It has already dealt, at that point, with the "brother" who would not hear even the church after offending another brother.  We need to remember, though, that the offended brother must have already followed out the rest of the procedure prescribed  here.  Not only must he have gone to the offending one, but, having been rebuffed, he must have taken one or two more, and they too must have judged the situation.  The church then hears it again and judges.  If the offending one will not hear them, then he is to be excommunicated - and Heaven will also excommunicate him.  This is serious business, which absolutely must be conducted in the fear of the Lord.

Samantha

Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.

Does this apply to all prayers -  healing? loved ones salvation?  Example - my husband and I agree to ask for healing for a sick friend.   My husband and his friend agreeing for healing for friends mother.  Does it apply to these also?

Sorry to be a pain.

Samantha

Just for the sake of any others reading here - I tend to think that to apply the "agreement" clause to ordinary prayers is to take it out of context.  I believe it applies to the church'es judging of the offending brother.  My opinion, not final dogma!  I say "for the sake of others reading," because Samantha and I have already dealt with this via PM.

Nice picture, Babycakes!

Hi Rachelle!  Come back and visit more often. (hug)

Great devotion, Janet!

I have been so busy these days. I am not ignoring anyone, just trying to keep my family life running with all the other things I have going on.

We danced for a charity and got 1st place last friday.  Won $2,500.00 and gave it to a man that was recently in an accident and is now paralized and also back to GARF.

hmm..i wonder if that was said already?  Oh well.

I will be gone all day tomorrow. I am going down with the dance team and cheerleaders to a competition.  I am the official photographer. hehehe.. what a job.  I love it!

Well, off I go. I have to get my laptop, camera and bags packed.

Have a wonderful day all!
Soni
