Goodness Is Beautiful

Galatians 5:22, 23.  "But the fruit of the Spirit is love joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self control."

I'm going to coin a word:  it's "beneficialness," and it means "good for," "helpful to," bringing benefits to."  Obviously (I hope),  the very best Source of "beneficialness" is God.  The Bible calls it His goodness.  To know God is to know the Source and even the very definition of all goodness.

Let's think about it for a minute.  If my friendship is "good" for you, it means that knowing me and experiencing my friendship will be of real benefit to your life.  It doesn't mean you'll always like what I do for you, but it means that it'll be good for you nevertheless.

Is there anyone like that in your life?  Do you know someone whose friendship blesses you in many, many ways?  How about Jesus?  To really know Jesus Christ is eternal life - it's a relationship that blesses you now and eternally.  That's what Jesus meant when He said to His Father, "And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ Whom You have sent." (John 17:3)  He does you good - His relationship to you displays His goodness.

How about your relationship to other people?  Does it benefit them?  The apostle told us that one of the results of the Spirit's indwelling, one of its fruits, is goodness - you are beneficial to others as your Lord is beneficial to you.  It means you'll love them - that Jesus Himself will love them through you.

If you truly relate to Jesus Christ, then this fruit of His Spirit will be present to bless those around you.  Pray today for more of Him and less of you.  Pray that He will more and more live in you to bless others.

Well Folks we are home.  The time at Peoples Church was inspiring, and refreshing.  I believe everyone come out of the service with something to think about.

It is late and we have been up since 5:30 AM.  I got up and was about to have a shower and promptly fell in the tub.  My left sholder is bruised as is my elbow.  I just thank God that there was no break and we were able to continue with the day as planned.

Good night/morning and have a good day.

Pastor Al:  Thank you for today's devotions. Actually, I have several relatives - cousins - who are beneficial in the word of the Lord.  They are wonderful to be around and so uplifting in spirt - always living good lives and it is so pleasant to visit with them.  My greatest benefit, of course, is what I received and still receive from the Lord.  A sense of peace and a volce telling me that everything is going to be alright.

Judy:  Thank heaven you are alright after a slip in the tub.  Scarey.  Glad that you had a good day at your church yesterday.

We are driving to the Denver suburbs today to stay two nights.  Lots of think about before we get underway.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.

I got to the Cafe late today as Pat was going to the school but wanted to catch a little blurb on the local news that was to air between 8-8:30 am about the quilt guild she is in and the charity project they have.  They make quilts and donate them to the children's hospital.  Last year they donated 200 quilts and hope for more this year.  She has made a quilt and will take it tomorrow as they have a show of the quilts before they are donated.  The piece was maybe 3 minutes long and didn't air until about 8:35 but at least she saw it.

Today is the day I go to the Braves game with my friend Rod.  His church is taking a bus and so we won't have to drive and hopefully they will drop us at the curb.  I am a bit concerned about how far I will have to walk and especially about navigating any ramps.  I hope I can get in an elevator to get to the level where are seats are located.  I am having trouble dealing with inclines.

Yesterday at church we had rocks the youth had given us and we each wrote a concern on them.  Then later in the service they provided wet naps to wipe off what we had written and then had us take the rocks up and place them under a cross that was on the platform.  I then had to walk back up the aisle to where I was sitting with Pat and ended up a little breathless but it didn't last.  What the youth did in the service was quite impressive and was all based on the theme that Christ is the rock.

Janet and others, please don't be worrying about my daugther when your plate is so full and Beth's situation is so much worse that my daughters.  She is still mobile and can take care of herself.  Pat thinks the staph infection sites are looking better so hopefully the new antibiotic is working.  Then she has to deal with a severe kidney infection.  Needless to say she isn't feeling peppy or at all good but did go to class this morning and plans to attend a graduation ceremony for the little girl she has been a surogate mother to all her life.  Janet, I will be praying for Beth and you all over the next few days as I know this is such a difficult week for you all.

Etta Sue, you don't need to remove Firefox to use Internet Explorer.  Just load Internet Explorer and then click on tools and Internet Options and on the first screen you see is where you set the 6th tab over under Programs you will see where you can check to make IE your default browser.  I don't know why your Outbook isn't working.  It sounds like you may need to change a setting or something.

Etta Sue, I don't know why you wouldn't want to delete files with Windows Explorer from a photo memory chip.  It is just a storage device.  However, I am certainly no expert.

Al, thanks for the fine devotional today.  As usual you have written a very meaningful devotional.

JudyB, sure glad you didn't break a bone.  At our ages we don't want to be falling.

Yesterday in church they recognized the mothers in attendance and started with the great grandmothers.  We had quite a shock when Pat was the only great grandmother there.

Carol, I am sure Pat would love to have you come and quilt with her.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Etta Sue

Can everyone see my animations?  I uploaded them to my earthlink webspace.  Can ya?

Al ~ What am I suppose to not do again?  What you sent me a PM about?  Sorry about that.  Just happy you caught it!

Judy B ~ Stop that!  That is a great way to get broken bones and bruises!  Be very careful when getting in and out of your tub!

Ritz ~ Great Choo-Choo photo!

Carol ~ Have a safe drive to Denver and back!

Marilyn ~ Will Speers is in my prayers.

Larry ~ Thanks to Marilyn's clickable, I downloaded the new version of IE.  Then I set it as default per your instructions.  Everything is working dandy so far!!

My, but everthing on CP is bigger and larger on IE than it was on Firefox!  I like this.  Seems where you view the posts they are wider and larger print!  Hmmmmm!

Tonight is Small Groups.  We are done with our Bible Study so we are just fellowshipping!!

Pat

Ohhh, I'm late!

Had a nice evening last night with my eldest son, Ian (our webhoster) and didn't get home till late.

And today so far, I've been running errands all over the place!  My Avon order just arrived at the same time as I drove in the driveway.

Hope you are all well.

I'll be back.

Etta Sue....i saw it too. :) :)   Started to post, but decided not to go that far ahead. HAHAHA

If feels much warmer than it actually is here where I am.  We're just staying inside so far.  I have all kinds of flowers to plant but will wait till it's cooler to put them in.  Early evening should be good.   It "feels" like it's close to 80, but weatherman is saying much cooler.  What does he know?

Hope you are all having a wonderful day in the Lord!   Nita

JudyB

John and the two eldest have gont to N Bay, it is Cadet and small group night.  Always busy.  Elizabeth takes exception to Melaura, being senior in rank, giving her orders.  Unfortunately that is how cadets are and she will have to get used to it.  Melaura is fair and not pushy, but Eizabeth gets cross anyway.  This is a learning experience.

It has been a busy day, getting back into the groove of our weekday schecules.  We are hitting the bed early tonight. Alsoo tonight is the last episode of Seventh Heaven.  It has had a 10 year run, and we have watched the kids grow up.  I for one will miss this show.

Pat I am glad you had a good time with Ian.  enjoy your time together, Did you get to see Janice and Andrew?

I hope everyone had a good day, I am praying for each of you as I continue this evening.

BTW Pat where is Judy Mc?

Judy

Marilyn

Nita according tomy temperature widget n my computer it says it is 68° but it sure feels a lot warmer than that.

JudyB be careful sister, at our age  wee sure don't need any broken bones, You are too busy to have to stop and let yourself heal.

Etta Sue my friends name is WILLA not Will.

Today is Happy's 7th Birthday. I had thought he was born in 98 but it was 99. I sang the Birthday song to him this morning and gave him some special things to eat this afternoon and extra pets. Dogster sent him Birthday wishes too as did te vets office reminders of shot needed updating.

Etta Sue I am so glad yo got the updated IE7-beta, I think you will really like it.

Larry I hope you enjoy the braves game. I have always liked baseball.

Al you old goat,  <3  you sure do write some fantastic devotionals, did anyone ever tell you that? Are you there? Really there?

Gotta go now.

Etta Sue - sorry - I had you as the one that fell, but it was Judy.  Well, don't do it anyway.

Thanks Marilyn - those devotionals are good for me while I'm studying.

Ok, now, JudyB - no more falling.

Nita

Well, Al...I was thinking of something else all together.  Last night I came in for a minute, and saw a NEM for May 18th, with Etta Sue's devotional.  I actually posted, being funny, but decided not to so erased it.   Now, I suppose not a soul knows what I'm talking about????   :)   When you said don't do it again, I thought you were teasing her or something.    Was I dreaming?  Did it really even happen?  Ya never know. haha

Local weatherman says we were at 81 today!  The wind has come up so it's cooled considerable.  Still very nice.  We finally got the cherry tomato planted, and I put some flowers in a hanging basket.  Sue watered some things that were looking wilty from the heat.  Joy!!  Summer is almost here!

Al, that Something Beautiful song always brings me to tears.  It's just so very true.  He is beautiful and makes beauty.  Praise you, Lord.

Happy Birthday, Happy!  Ty and Rocko send their best wishes and tail wags for the birthday boy.

Oh, JudyB, I'm really glad you are ok.  As Al said, don't do that again...ok?

Gotta go and watch the news.  Blessings,  Nita

Ruth Ann Bice

I love the song Something Beautiful, too. So many of the Gaither songs from that era had wonderful messages to them.

I'm thankful for a beautiful black necklace from the kids in Georgia - it has a beautiful black cross.

Mothers Day was very nice and now it's back to work and busy, busy as usual.

I enjoyed reading all the posts and Al's devotional today.

I think everyone is messed up  :idiot:  I didn't fall in the bathtub and I certainly wouldn't post a NEM for May 18 if it weren't May 18....on purpose anyway!   :-[  And on reply #5, it says Will not Willa!  Whew!  Am I the only sane one around?

Well, this pc is giving me fits.  I have never froze up this pc and it just kept on freezing.  I don't know what I did but I finally went to Restore and restored it back to before downloading the new version of IE.  It was still freezing up this evening.  Then I noticed Java something or other was on my pc and used to Java messed my pc up.  So I removed Java 2 Runtime Environment and it is running faster and all since.  Maybe tomorrow I will try the new version of IE again.

PC's....can't live with 'em.   :ticked:  Can't live without 'em!    <3

Judy McKenna

Hi Judy B... its me ... I've been very lax in replying, - even reading here in CP.  So many new ones - I can't keep up.

I do enjoy your devontionals Al - there is always good "meat" to chew on. I heard this expression on here awhile back - not sure who said it though.

Janet - I often think of Beth.... how is she doing?

Marilyn, I appreciate your emails to me.

"I am too blessed to be stressed".

Etta Sue

No one has posted since I last posted?

I see Judy Mc just posted while I was composing.  Hi, Judy!

Hope I didn't upset anyone with my 'tried to be funny'!

Where is everyone?

Marilyn

Etta Sue sorry about that it was my own mistake. I have been having lots of problems with my keyboard it is not typing all the keys  hit. I don't know if the keyboard is on it's way out or if it needs to be cleaned out. Once before you said you took yours apart and cleaned it; how do you do that without messing it all up? Please email me and tell me how to clean it out. I have done it in the past with my shop vac.

I think someone fell asleep too early last night and forgot to do their NEM, so Hey Pat why not just keep it going today?

Please don't forget to click on the prayer request above. Suzanne has lost another stepson. It is a tragic situaion.

Good Morning folks!

Been a really busy few days for me and my son-in-law just left so thought I'd drop in and say "Hi".

Is this the day Janet leaves for Amarillo? or yesterday?

I certainly hope that she gets some good news for once.

"Click for Waterloo Wellington, Ontario Forecast"

Al Moak

Yes, let's pray that she gets definite direction, real hope and confidence.  Amen.

JudyB

Ok OK I promise not to fall again.

Etta Sue I laughed at your funny.  I also read it to John!

JudyMc I am glad to see you, Have been praying for you as I thought there was a health prob.  Good to know there isn't.

Ruth Ann Good to see you.

We all slept in today.  Even Melaura,....she must be tired.

We received bad news last night.  A close friend's son got beaten up.  He refuses to name names, and that is to protect his mom, dad and 3 young siblings.  If he names the kids who beat him the lives of his family will be at risk.  So sad to see youth not out of grade 8 terrorizing like that.

Well I will continue to pray for the needs here.
JudyB

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  I am here alone this morning as Pat has gone to her quilt guild and our daughter is attending class.

We had an interesting day yesterday.  After I picked up Pat from her volunteering at the school we took her sewing machine to have it serviced.  When we came out of the quilt shop it wouldn't start.  I tried for 45 minutes or so every 10 minutes but no luck.  I called the motor club and they sent a two truck to take it to the dealer.  I heard from them this morning that it needs something fixed in the ignition and also there is a problem with the transmission that needs repair.  So by tomorrow we will be about $1200 poorer but hopefully will have  a serviceable car that will take us on the two trips we have planned this summer.  I thought it was my computer chip but the service department said it was the other problem as the security works through the transmission.  Sure hope they are right.

So I am here today without a car.  Our daughter loaned me her car so I could go to coffee at the cafe (and fill her car with gas).  She then took her mother to the quilting guild and will meet her and another friend for lunch.

My good friend and I had a nice time at the ballgame last night.  The Braves won after it appeared the game was probably lost when they got behind 5-0 in the 5th inning.  It was a bit chilly at the game but I had worn my leather coat and a sweatshirt and took a hat so will too uncomfortable.  We had dinner at the famous Variety Drive-In downtown, another place I had never been in all the years I have lived in this area.

Etta Sue, sorry to hear that you are having some computer problems.  I want to caution you that occasionally the IE 7 Beta will stop working and you have to close it and then reopen it.  Also, when you go to download something you will likely see a little yellow bar under the header that requires you to click on it and then say yes it is ok to download.  I particularly like the tabs and use the little gold star feature at the left for the Favorites Center.

JudyB, there are some really visous kids out there now and some really terrible things happen.  I hope the boy recovers.  We are having quite a problem with gangs in our area and county which is a really bad thing to have.

Marilyn, fortunately keyboards are very inexpensive anymore if you are not able to clean yours.

Pat, I think Janet, Beth and Darrel left yesterday for the hospital.

Judy McKenna, always a ray of sunshine to see you posting.

Ruth Ann, glad you had such a nice mother's day and the jewelry sounds very nice.

Nita, it sounds like summer is arriving in your area.  I think we are suppose to warm up later in the week but still not too warm here and it was right down chilly last evening.

Guess I had better get a bite to eat and I think I feel a nap coming on as didn't get home until after midnight last night.  Been a long time since I stayed out that late.

JudyB

Pat needs to check out her profile picture.  Is it just me or is there a red x where her picture should be?

Melaura is out mowing.....drat that is my job.  I had too many other things to do,so she went at it.

I am off for the balance of the day.  Will talk at a later.

Pat

Well, here I am again just up from lying down.  One of those crazy days with a headache you can't get rid of.

I'm going to make a cup of tea and see if that helps.

I see my profile pic just fine, Judy.
