Morning Devotional...

Jesus was not come to them.
John 6:17

He saith unto them, it is I; be not afraid.
John 6:20

The disciples had rowed three to four miles toward the western shore of the Sea of Galilee when boisterous winds pounded their boat, taking it from trough to crest of mountainous waves.

Then, above the swell they heard His voice, "It is I; be not afraid."

Soon they landed at Capernaum ("village of comfort").

Today listen for His voice rising above the winds of circumstance. He says, "It is I; be not afraid." He can take you to the place of comfort.
--A. McIntee

Looking off unto Jesus, my spirit is blessed;
In the world I have turmoil, in Him I have rest;
The sea of my life all about me may roar;
When I look unto Jesus, I sorrow no more.

Blessings crown the head of the righteous.

      EVERY BLESING OF GOODNESS

                       Rich beyond measure,
                          we daily receive
                       every blesing of goodness

1 John 4 : 21
And He has given us this command: Whoever
loves God must also love his brother.

  Some things are very simple.
We can't love God and refuse to love each other.
This is not hard to understand.
On the other hand, some of our kinfolks in the Lord
are just down right hard to love because they can be
so difficult.
But, we need to remember who we were when
Christ died for us -- powerless, ungodly, sinners,
enemies (Romans 5 : 6-11) yet God loved us and
send Jesus to save us.
So before we whine about our "hard-to-live-with"
fellow Christians, we had better give thanks that
God loved us when we were sinners.
Then we need to thank God for His grace by being
more loving with each other.

Prayer...
  Almighty God, please give me the strength,
compassion, and courage to love my fellow
Christians as you have loved me.
In Jesus name i pray    AMEN

Bye Love Ria

43 years ago...O! My Goodness.  I had to subtract to get to the year 1961 and Larry was 5, Andy was 4, Henry was 3 and Martha was 9 mos.  My husband was still farming but we were barely able to make it.  I think that this was the very last year we farmed before he tried to get a mill job.  We were struggling mightily.

Pat, your picture shows so much love. I know today will bring back many wonderful memories of that special day in your life.

Ria, I didn't get on to tell you yesterday that I do enjoy your devotionals.  Keep up the good work.  God uses you to speak to others and  be an encourager through them :) :)

Now for bath and devotionals.  God bless all of you

Pat, 43 years ago, just about this time, was the Mothers Day sunday when my hubby gave me a beautiful orchid to wear - to announce the impending birth of our first child. We had told no one prior to that.

Thanks for causing me to reflect on happy memories.

Hayley, 3 of my 4 children are asthmatics, the 4th has asthmatic bronchitis, and I myself was diagnosed with asthma only a few years ago. So I most certainly can empathize with you and your fears for Emma.

Take care, my friends. I love you all.

Papa John

Well, Pat, 43 years ago we lived in Nashville and all three of our children were here.  I was 34 years old and working as the minister of Trinity Lane Church of Christ here in Nashville.  That year in the summer I preached in revivals in Illinois and Minnesota.  Later in the year we moved to Chattanooga to work with a church in that city.  Time passes by so fast.  The picture of you and Jack is great!

Right now I have to write a letter recommending a young couple who are trying to adopt a baby.  I will come back later.

Congratulations Pat!!  I know this is a bittersweet day for you.

43 years?  I was -9years old.  Don't guess I was doing much of anything!!!!

My son woke up running full speed this morning.  He just came in and said, "Hurt my finner (finger).  Me need ban-daid.  I beeding to deaf."  A little over-reactionary, me believes.  Now he is telling me he wants to go to the bank and get sucker-candy.  Going to be a day!!!  I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Gotta go.  Have a good un!

Janet

43 years ago, I was living in Boise City, Oklahoma, had a little girl one year old, and was working very hard helping my husband in the greenhouse he had just built.  As for this exact day, I have no idea what I was doing!  ;)

Pat, your wedding photos are lovely, and it is good you have them to help you recall fond memories.  But God still has great things in store for you, my dear friend!  :)

I almost feel like my old self today, but tummy still a little sore.  I made my half mile today without a problem, though, so I know I'm much better.

Today is class day, so the afternoon will be full.  I wish all of you a wonderful day.

43 years ago?   In 1961 I preached my first sermon at our old church in San Jose, California.  At that point we had 4 out of the eventual 6 kids.  We were living in Portland, Oregon, driving down to San Jose fairly often to see the folks, go to our old church, etc.  I worked for ESI (Electro-Scientific Industries) as a technical writer.  Had a brother Chistian there with whom I took breaks.  We walked and memorized Psalms while we walked!  Wow that's a long time ago!  After preaching in San Jose that one time, word travelled north, and I was asked to preach up there also.  Continued preaching about once per month until we went to seminary in 1966.

Hi all

43 years ago I was 11  and 2  months off my 12th birthday.  I was full of butterflies and as excited as an 11+ child can be, as I prepared to walk down the church isle just ahead of my sister.  I was one of the few who knew she was planning on singing at her own wedding.  She looked like an angel and sang like one too.  Even our singing teacher Aunt Margaret was impressed!

Pat do you have a midi of that song?

My how time flys!

43 years ago!  I was a new mom with a 3½ month old.  My husband, son and I were staying with a SIL who had been in an auto accident and had a cast from her waist down.  Also she had 5 children to cook and clean and keep clothes clean for AND take care of her needs.  That was hard work on a new wife and mother.  But SIL is fine today.   Pat, thanks for taking us down memory lane as I know you have happy memories of 43 years ago.

JudyB ~ How great to see you today!!!!  Prayers have been answered because last night I was praying that you were okay and that we hear from you soon.  God answers prayers.

Today is gloomy and cloudy.  This evening DIL Charlene and I are going to my ex-husband's daughters house to a Pampered Chef party.  Yes, ex-husband.  Life is too short to have enemies.  Him and his family are great friends.

Pat, you got lots of reminiscing going here--good for you!

Today's CyberSmile. . .

AS an airline reservation agent, I took a call from a man who wanted to book a flight for two but wasn't happy with the price of $59 per ticket. "I want the $49 fare I saw advertised," he insisted, saying he would accept a flight at any time. I managed to find two seats on a 6 a.m. flight. "I'll take it," he said, then worried his wife might not like the early hour. I warned there was a $25 fee per person if he changed the reservation. "Oh, that's no problem," he said dismissively. "What's fifty bucks?"

Sorry I wasn't able to make it in here yesterday.  I was busy.  Today won't be so bad.  I pretty much get the morning to myself and the afternoon will be busy from 2:00 on up.  Not to bad.  We have been getting tons of rain, which I just love.  (More flowers)

Ria~I am sorry you had a bad night.  I hope your night goes better tonight.  (hug)

Pat~Wow!  43 years ago I wasn't even thought of. My hubby was 8 months old.  :D  Beautiful wedding pictures of Jack and you.

Karma~Ouch!  Those booboo's can hurt.  Lila Mae needs a bandaide for almost every sore she gets, but the it only stays on for about 5 minutes.   ::)  Have fun with your son today.

Thanks Guys...

Yes, Judy, that was some day!  I hid my words for "Take My Life and Let It Be" behind my bouquet and Dad said, "Hey!  What are you doing?  Don't tell me you're going to sing!  When do I sit down?  Do I have to stand up there at the front the whole time?"  Poor Daddy.  He really didn't enjoy being in the limelight and just wanted to be seated beside Mum.  ;D

Yes, lots of nice memories today.

Here'a a photo to prove that once I had a waist!

HAHAHAHA!  ('scuse me for posting photos in here!)  :-[

This is how Jack asked me to marry him and why I sang at our wedding...

Our Love Story

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  It is going to be a warm and humid day here in Georgia and in the last hour or so it has become overcast.  However, no rain is predicted.  We have heard thunder the last few days but only had sprinkles.

Pat, 43 years ago today I would probably have been taking finals for my junior year in college.  Pat and I were dating and I knew I wanted her to be my wife.  I continued on with summer school that year, as I had the previous summer and then was able to graduate in 3 years rather than 4.

Have often wondered why I was in such a hurry to get out of college.  Think it had something to do with getting away from the farm, which was not something I ever really liked.  However, I realize the farm was a great place to grow up and to be taught the work ethic.

I forgot to take my nitro tablet before I got on the treadmill this morning and as a result haven't felt very good today and have taken a couple more nitros.  Will take it easy the rest of the day and should be fine tomorrow.

We were expecting guest this evening.  A friend of ours for over 25 years, who lives around Washington, DC, was to be here for supper and a nice visit.  However he called last evening saying they had to change plans as his wife's father, who suffers with Alzheimer's has a touch of pnumonia and had to have tests today and they didn't feel they should be away.

So we will be having a delightful meal this evening as Pat worked a lot yesterday getting the meal ready so she wouldn't be exhausted this evening.

Chris, sure sorry to hear you have a setback with your throat and do hope it is a short-lived thing.

karstmom27, I am curious as to what you met by mickey and minnie came to visit a guest but it now dawns on me that a guest must have seen a couple of mice.  Sure that is one of the banes of your husbands business along with difficult guests.

Ria, sorry you had a bad night.  Have you thought about getting ear plugs?  :D

Welcome Annette to the CP site.

Janet, glad you are feeling better today.

Pat, just read your last posting above and remember reading your wonderful love story on SeniorNet.  You still have a waist. :) :)

Guess I better stop here before this turns into a book.  Hope everyone has a nice day.

Good to see everyone today.  I have already written about where we were 43 years ago.  I have enjoyed the stories each one has had to tell.

Victory in Jesus
(Click to hear music)

Words and Music by Eugene. M. Bartlett

I heard an old, old story, How a Saviour came from glory,
How He gave His life on Calvary To save a wretch like me;
I heard about His groaning, Of His precious blood's atoning,
Then I repented of my sins And won the victory.

Chorus:
O victory in Jesus, My Saviour, forever,
He sought me and bought me With His redeeming blood;
He loved me ere I knew Him And all my love is due Him,
He plunged me to victory, Beneath the cleansing flood.

I heard about His healing, Of His cleansing pow'r revealing,
How He made the lame to walk again And caused the blind to see;
And then I cried "Dear Jesus, Come and heal my broken spirit,"
And somehow Jesus came and bro't To me the victory.

Chorus:
O victory in Jesus, My Saviour, forever,
He sought me and bought me With His redeeming blood;
He loved me ere I knew Him And all my love is due Him,
He plunged me to victory, Beneath the cleansing flood.

I heard about a mansion He has built for me in glory,
And I heard about the streets of gold Beyond the crystal sea;
About the angels singing, And the old, redemption story,
And some sweet day I'll sing up there The song of victory.

Chorus:
O victory in Jesus, My Saviour, forever,
He sought me and bought me With His redeeming blood;
He loved me ere I knew Him And all my love is due Him,
He plunged me to victory, Beneath the cleansing flood.
