Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

Real Ant Farms

"Go to the ant, you sluggard! Consider her ways and be wise, which, having no captain, overseer or ruler, provides her supplies in the summer, and gathers her food in the harvest."
Proverbs 6:6

There are more than 200 ant species in the attine family of ants. All of them farm for a living. And they are as sophisticated about their farming as any modern human farmer. They are found anywhere from the tropics to New Jersey. The specialization shown by these ants makes an evolutionary explanation for them impossible.

One example is the famous leaf?cutting ants found in the tropics. Leaf cutters use the leaf pieces they collect to make mulch. Once the mulch is ready, they grow a fungus in it, which they eat. That fungus grew from a bit of fungus that was stored in a special pouch in the mouth of the queen who began that colony; in turn she brought it from the colony where she grew up. That she has this special pouch for seed material for her children is a witness to God's intelligent design. The ants' digestive system is specialized, too, so that its waste is a ready?to?use fertilizer for the crop. The ants also weed their crop. Certain ants inspect the fungus ball searching for invading molds. When one is found, the ant will remove it. To make sure that she does not return any contaminating bit of the mold to her crop, the ant then cleans herself before returning to the crop. This, again, is a powerful witness to divine design. The ants also generate herbicides and antibiotics which they! use as needed on the crop, another witness to design. Finally, they also prune their crop in a way that has been shown to improve its productivity. All these special design features and behaviors seem to have been put into one creature as a witness against evolution.

Prayer: I praise and glorify You, Father for the evidence of Your great glory. Amen.

Hello everybody!  We have been having some serious thunderstorms here.  scary.  Fortunately, nards remembered to disconned the phone line that connects to the modem, so we didn't blow another one.  It seems like the smallest of storms fries our modems.  I think we went through two or three last year, though I'm not sure.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day and gets ready for a great weekend!!karmat

I remember it well.

44 years ago today was such a very hot day.  My wedding dress was so heavy and hot.  But it was a nice day.

How are you all?

It's nice today here.  It's not too hot and I may try to cut the lawn.  At least my new electric mower isn't difficult to push.

It feels as if it's nearly lunch time for me.  I've been up since about 5 am.  I went out and sat on my garden swing with the dog and read my Bible while the sun came up.  It was so nice.

Glad you enjoyed that devotional today, Marilyn.

While I was sitting on my swing this morning with Geordie, I was also humming this hymn.

He Hideth My Soul
(Click to hear music)

I will put you in a cleft in the rock
and cover you with my hand until I have passed by.
Exodus 33:22

Words: Fanny Crosby
Music: William J. Kirkpatrick

This hymn is unique in that it was a poem written to fit the tune. Kirkpatrick brought the music to Fanny Crosby, asking her to write a poem to fit his music.

She, the blind musician who wrote 8000 music, did!

A wonderful Savior is Jesus my Lord,
A wonderful Savior to me;
He hideth my soul in the cleft of the rock,
Where rivers of pleasure I see.

Refrain
He hideth my soul in the cleft of the rock
That shadows a dry, thirsty land;
He hideth my life with the depths of His love,
And covers me there with His hand,
And covers me there with His hand.

A wonderful Savior is Jesus my Lord,
He taketh my burden away;
He holdeth me up, and I shall not be moved,
He giveth me strength as my day.[/i]

Refrain

With numberless blessings each moment He crowns,
And filled with His fullness divine,
I sing in my rapture, oh, glory to God
For such a Redeemer as mine!

Refrain

When clothed in His brightness, transported I rise
To meet Him in clouds of the sky,
His perfect salvation, His wonderful love
I?ll shout with the millions on high.

That's a beautiful old hymn, Pat!  Thank you!  Oh may that day come soon when we "shout with the millions on high!"

Janet

Good morning!  Such an interesting study about the ants!  There is a species of fish who also are farmers.  They grow algae, and sre very protective of it.  I have had those little guys (or gals) come up and bump into my face mask to try to chase me away when I got too close to their little "farm."  So cute.

Pat it is so good to "hear" you feeling better.  Now, please do NOT go and overdo it today!  We want your improvement to continue.

I am going to attend first grade again today.  Abby thinks it's very important for Grandma to come one more time before school is out, so I called her teacher last night, and she said this will be a great day to visit.  They are going to the Pizza Hut for a tour, then each gets to make their own personal pan pizza and eat them.  ;D ;D

I have a busy day ahead, so may not be back until night, if then.  Have a wonderful day, y'all!

Pat good to see you feeling a little better today, well enough to possibly do your lawn.

Hi Karma, hope tp hear that you have weathered the storms, (pun intended) and that you computers survive.

AL thanks for the call this morning. Good to hear of your progress.

Our wonderful Governor Arnie, has a bill on the table before the state senate to cut the pay of all the home care workers back to the minimum wage and take away the health benefits. The union Rep called me yesterday and asked if I would get some signatures on Letters of Support for the Home Care workers. So I will be picking some up today. I will take them tothe senior center and get my Tai  Chi class to sign some and take some to the church as well. I am already at minimum wage with no benefits so it won't effect me, our county never did get the raises that some of the other counties got. I sure do hope that Arnie does NOT get reelected. I didn't vote for him anyway. Please keep this situation in prayer.

Be careful there, Marilyn!  We don't want our discussions here in NEM to turn "political!"   ;)

I thought this story was so............good.

AS MY BROTHER-IN-LAW prepared to board his plane, he noticed a little girl clutching a large bouquet of balloons. The flight attendant reluctantly told her that only one balloon per person could be taken on board. Crying, the child selected her two favorites one for her father and one for herself and left the remaining ones behind. Another passenger had witnessed the incident. Gathering up the balloons, he distributed them to others who were boarding. Destination reached, the happy youngster left the airport, once again clutching her colorful bouquet.

Janet ~ It is so remarkable how the Bible is for today the same as it was in its day.  Talk about life's lesson.  It is all in the Bible.  Mmmm! Pizza does sound good!!

Marilyn ~ I know you get a lot enjoyment doing for others but sometimes there comes a time to take time for yourself.  If the money won't be missed, go for it!

Sue ~ I love eating out...who doesn't?...and eating out with family is the best.  I am sure you and your Great Aunt enjoyed each others company no matter what you did together.

Pat ~ Hi there.  We sure do miss you.  I sure am praying you have your good health back soon....with no pain.  I love sitting on my deck for my Bible reading early in the morning.  Those birds sure do sing purty!!

Chris ~ That is so true of ministers.  Our minister lets us know every Sunday, every sermon that he has his faults and he prays that God forgives him for them.

Ruth Ann ~ Your dinner sounds great!  Better than mine, by far.

Karma ~ We had lots of rain and thunderstorms yesterday too.  Today is overcast but no rain.  Hope the weekend is nice for those who have the weekend off from working.   And time trials for the Indy 500!!

Al ~ How are your legs today?  Hope you aren't having a swell time with them...teehee!

I had a lovely evening last evening talking to girls...uh, women...that I graduated from high schoo with back in '60.  Forty-five years ago.  I have seen them since but not talked to them on the phone.  Such a wonderful time.  Looks like our Girls Lunch for June 11th will be a success.  I can hardly wait!

I tried to find some phone numbers online with no success.  The President of our class is on vacation this week but I am impatient....didn't want to wait for phone numbers.  But I guess I will.

Cloudy and overcast and a little cool...60°F.  Glad I am staying in for the day.

Whew!  I wasn't posting the above correctly and then discovered I had an '{' instead of an '[' in it.  What a difference that makes!!!!!!!!!!

Pat

Thanks for your nice comments folks.  My lawnmower is so easy to push.  It's electric.  I got it last year and if necessary, I could use only one hand if I wanted to.  LOL

Love the little graphics, Etta Sue.

Preaching: Too Timid To Tell the Truth
Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that
they were uneducated and untrained men, they marveled. And they
realized that they had been with Jesus.
--Acts 4:13
The contemporary moral climate does not favor a faith as tough and
fibrous as that taught by our Lord and His apostles. The delicate,
brittle saints being produced in our religious hothouses today are
hardly to be compared with the committed, expendable believers who
once gave their witness among men. And the fault lies with our
leaders. They are too timid to tell the people all the truth. They
are now asking men to give to God that which costs them nothing.
Our churches these days are filled (or one-quarter filled) with a
soft breed of Christian that must be fed on a diet of harmless fun
to keep them interested. About theology they know little. Scarcely
any of them have read even one of the great Christian classics,
but most of them are familiar with religious fiction and
spinetingling films. No wonder their moral and spiritual
constitution is so frail. Such can only be called weak adherents
of a faith they never really understood.  That Incredible
Christian, 76.
"How much more true this is today, Lord, than in Tozer's day! How
long before we see a movement of the Holy Spirit to give a depth
and seriousness again in our pulpits? Send it, I pray, for Jesus'
sake. Amen."

Cold and raining here on the island.  We have been having the strangest weather lately.  Sort of four seasons in every day.....gives a whole new meaning to layering clothes  :-\

Interesting devotional, Pat.  I have been having an ongoing battle with ants in the garage feeding on Misty's food.  She sleeps and eats there.  While in the doctor's office, I read that ants will not cross a line of salt or cloves.  So am trying that.  The cloves seem to be doing the trick.  Will have to wait and see.......

Nothing much to say except that I hope everyone feels better, if not now, then soon.

Here is a small 'non' political joke:

Kenny and His Donkey

A hillbilly, young Kenny, moved to Texas and bought a donkey from a farmer for $100.00. The farmer agreed to deliver the donkey the next day.

The next day he drove up and said, "Sorry son, but I have some bad news, the donkey died."

Kenny replied, "Well, then, just give me my money back."

The farmer said, "Can't do that. I went and spent it already."

Kenny said, "Ok, then, just bring me the dead donkey."

The farmer asked, "What ya gonna do with him?"

Kenny, "I'm going to raffle him off."

The farmer said, "You can't raffle off a dead donkey!"

Kenny said, "Sure I can. Watch me. I just won't tell anybody he is dead."

A month later, the farmer met up with Kenny and asked, "What happened with that dead donkey?"

Kenny said, "I raffled him off. I sold 500 tickets at two dollars a piece and made a profit of $998.00."

The farmer said, "Didn't anyone complain?"

Kenny said, "Just the guy who won. So I gave him his two dollars back."

Kenny grew up and eventually became the chairman of Enron.

::) ::)

Pleasant day and God Bless.

CHANGE NOT THY FAITH WITH CHANGING TIMES

karmat

Pat, I guess this is a bittersweet day for you.  Sad, but with many happy memories.  I do hope you are feeling better soon.

Trying to get travis to take a nap, but kristi keeps "talking" to him!

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  This was another day spent mostly waiting in the doctor's office.  Pat saw her internist today and he diagnosed possible bilateral oestio arthritis and is sending her to a specialist.  He also changed her medicine.  He was running an hour behind time and then she had to have x-rays done, get a prescription filled, and drop off the referral.  We stopped at a very good bar-b-q place for a pulled pork plate lunch.  Don't think we will need any supper.  By the time we got home we were both ready for a nap.

Pat, that was a very interesting devotional.  There are so many things in nature that speak so loudly of divine creation.  These things just couldn't develop by random chance.  Glad to hear you are feeling well enough to mow your yard.  Do you have to deal with an electrical cord with your mower or does it have a battery on which it runs.  I used to have an electric mower (and it may still be out in the shed) but had to use a very long extension cord and it was a job to keep from cutting it in half.

Not much else new here.  We have had a cloudy and rainy day and apparently they had a lot of trees blown over in Atlanta but we didn't have the wind here.

Pat

Thanks Karma.   :-*

Larry, my mower has the cord.  It was very much more expensive to look at the ones that had the battery.  And I couldn't even begin to consider it so I am careful with the cord.  ;D  I didn't do it today.  I had a friend drop in and I was trying to get laundry done--sheets from several beds from having company and I also put a loaf of bread into the bread machine.  I'll do the lawn tomorrow.

Thanks, Etta Sue, for your concern.  No, I'm not having a "swell time" with the legs!  Actually, thanks be to our God, there's no swelling left!  I looked down on the legs when they took the wrap off, and they look 20 years younger!  I've lost 12 pounds, too, so it must all have been water.  Now we just have to get the diuretic ballanced so that it stays off.  I'm supposed to get back to compression stockings only as of about next Tuesday, so these wraps will be done with.  Thank You, Lord!

I certainly understand about wedding days, Pat. I was a young, thin, dedicated christian who married a young, handsome, dedicated christian on June 12. It, too, was a very hot day and my wedding dress was made of "slipper satin." The only way I stayed "cool" was that I wore folded washcloths under my arms to keep the perspiration from making huge circles on that beautiful, long-sleeved dress.

Later, my best friend used the same dress for her own wedding.

Ah, sweet memories!  :)

I've really enjoyed the comments today. Larry, I certainly hope Pat begins feeling much better right away.

And Marilyn and Janet, I also understand the conversation. However, I try not to be "offensive" with my comments. I love too many of my friends here and really respect their differences of opinion from my own. So, I don't make many pointed remarks.

I've read every post (as I do each day), but don't have the time to comment on each one. Please understand that I read and absorb what you've said and posted, and am so VERY grateful for each one of you and your contributions.

Thank y'all for praying for Leslie's situation. This week, I found an organization sponsored by the local academy of medicine that locates care for the uninsured. Hopefully, we'll finish filling out the forms and make appointments to see the intake person shortly.  Maybe this will be of great assistance, for being uninsured, with a medical condition, and limited resources is a most precarious position in which to be in our country, that's for sure!

Y'all have a great evening.

Ruth Ann
