Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Carol: Thankful:  Don is home from hospital.  I found him unconscious with head outside on the floor and the rest was in the shower.  At the same moment, one son was walking through the front door to visit.  Two fire trucks came racing in and they took over After 2021-12-29, 22:01:26

I want to express my heartfelt thanks to all of you for praying for Beth, and for rejoicing with us over her good news!  She still has a long way to go to full health, but at least "the big C" isn't in the picture!  God is so good.

Let's sing...

It Will Be Worth It All

Words and music by Esther Kerr Rusthoi

Oft times the day seems long, our trials hard to bear,
We're tempted to complain, to murmur and despair;
But Christ will soon appear to catch His Bride away,
All tears forever over in God's eternal day.

Refrain
It will be worth it all when we see Jesus,
Life's trials will seem so small when we see Christ;
One gliimpse of His dear face all sorrow will erase,
So bravely run the race till we see Christ.

Sometimes the sky looks dark with not a ray of light,
We're tossed and driven on , no human help in sight;
But there is one in heav'n who knows our deepest care,
Let Jesus solve your problem - just go to Him in pray'r.

Refrain
It will be worth it all when we see Jesus,
Life's trials will seem so small when we see Christ;
One gliimpse of His dear face all sorrow will erase,
So bravely run the race till we see Christ.

Life's day will soon be o'er, all storms forever past,
We'll cross the great divide, to glory, safe at last;
We'll share the joys of heav'n - a harp, a home, a crown,
The tempter will be banished, we'll lay our burden down.

Refrain
It will be worth it all when we see Jesus,
Life's trials will seem so small when we see Christ;
One gliimpse of His dear face all sorrow will erase,
So bravely run the race till we see Christ.

Praise the Lord in all that we do.  God's command but my very weakness.

About cremation I feel about the same as Denise so
it really is a personal choice and we should not condemn what ever is done.  Mel has always wanted to be cremated and I have always struggled with that  but as times are changing I am now seeing why it would be the easier way to go.

My heart is heavy tonight.  Today, around 4, another state trooper was killed when he stopped someone for a routine traffic thing.  He was the second in about as many years.  A tractor trailor broadsided him and the car he had pulled.  The trooper's cruiser ignited immediately and the he was killed at the scene. (Ironic after a discussion of cremation). The person he had pulled was in the hospital in serious condition.

That in itself was sad enough.  It was moreso for me because I grew up with the trooper.  He lived two or three doors down from me and I played with him, his brother and another neighbor boy (I was a tomboy) everyday almost for the first 12 or 14 years of my life.  I don't remember NOT knowing Anthony.   :'(

He was a Christian, as was his wife, though I think they were separated at the time. :(  He also leaves behind a three year old son, Cody. :(

Thank you for letting me share.  I'm sorry to be so gloomy this evening.

I hope everyone has a nice weekend.

Love
karmat

PS -- At first I thought you were serious, Al. >:(  You were kidding weren't you? :o

Karma, I'm so sorry.  I really am.  Because you knew Anthony all these years, it's like losing a brother...actually, if he was a Christian and you say he was, he WAS a brother.

My deepest sympathy, Karma...

My friend Martha's service is tomorrow at 3 pm. Then we are going to have a potluck at the Senior Center. Her Grandson from florida, who is a Pastor is going to officiate, with Pastor Oliver opening. I am driving 3 of the older ladies as thier car is in the shop.  I wish I could remember the name of the song, they are having sung. Something about a Great something Bird. I found it on the internet for them. Ah the memory isn't what it used to be. I was a Roy Acuff song.

Karma I am so sorry to hear about you friend. What a shock for you I know how you feel. God Bless you Sister. May our God give you the comfort and peace only He can give.

My Only thoughts about cremation and why I don't think it a bad choice for christians is, the body came from dust and returns to dust and as the preacher lays you to rest in most of the funerals I have been to, he recites From dust to dust and from ashes to ashes! I know in most cases the body has deteriated and is not even in the grave after a time so. what is wrong with it being turned to ashes or dust a little sooner? That is my only thought on why I don't think I am wrong in choosing that as my method of burial!

Goodnight all!!!!!

Tomorrow will be a difficult day for you, Marilyn.  But how wonderful to know that she's in the Lord's presence now.  I'll be praying for you tomorrow.

Okay, I did some research.  My conclusions are:

1)  Most Biblical reasons for not having cremation were taken slightly out of context, or stretched.  (Disclaimor:  Not necessarily the reasons here, just reasons I found when I did a search on google for "Christian + cremation."

2)  There are some very strong societal views about cremation in other countries.

3)  Cremation does seem to have its beginning in pagan/heathen culture.  (Of course so does celebrating Christmas on Dec. 25, and Easter in the Spring :-\)

4)  I am still not sure that it is a wrong thing to do.  I personally couldn't do it for one of my family members, unless they made it very clear and was adamant about it, but it is more of a cultural thing, I think, than a biblical one for me.

I found this information on the BGEA webpage.  It is not a lot, but it does look fairly objectively at the situation I think:  http://www.billygraham.org/qna/qna.asp?i=482

Having said all of that, if you wish to think cremation is wrong, so be it.  If you thin it is okay, so be it.  I don't mean to sound wishy washy, and I appreciate Pat for posing hte question, as I was getting lack in my "searching" during Mieka's vacation, but that is my conclusion.

Now, two really controversial questions:
1)  Should churches have stained glass windows or not?
2)  Should a church serve turkey or ham at their Thanksgiving dinner?

(I am just kidding with those last two, though I know two churches that almost split over those things.  And I am not trying to make light of the question Pat posed, and I apologive if I offend anyone with what may seem like glibness.  I truly do like questions that force us to find some Biblical answers to situation facing Christians  in what has been called a Post-Christian society.)

Night all --
