Morning Devotional...

Yea and if I be offered (poured out) upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I joy and rejoice with you all.
Philippians 2:17

In accord with the theme of this epistle--humility that brings joy and unity--Paul takes the lowest of views regarding his work as an apostle.

Whether upon the altar (sacrifice) or behind the plow (service), Paul saw his contribution as simply a libation poured upon the great burnt offering of their faith.

His work was an aid to others' consecration, not the means of it. The drink offering speaks of joy, but does not and cannot take the place of the true sacrifice.

It was God who was producing fruit in their lives (2:13) not Paul.

Oh, to be poured out in this way.
--Rick Morse

You will be called Hepzibah,

Isaiah 62:4

Words: Fanny Crosby
Music: John R. Sweney

Oh, my cup is overflowing
With the goodness of the Lord;
I am trusting in His mercy,
And rejoicing in His Word.

Refrain
I have climbed the rugged mountain,
On its summit now I stand;
Hallelujah! hallelujah!
I have entered Beulah land.

From the sighing and the longing,
That so oft my heart oppressed,
With my Savior and Redeemer
Now in perfect peace I rest.

Refrain

There’s a palace o’er the river
And its jasper walls I see,
And among its many mansions
There is one prepared for me.

Refrain

I have climbed the rugged mountain,
But my Savior led the way;
Unto Him shall be the glory,
When I reach eternal day.

Thankyou Pat.

                      Please Pray for Holland

I have a full heart this morning.  I watched the news from Holland last night and the situation there is escalating.  Not only are extremists attacking Christian Churches but Jews and the synagogues are under threat., also the Mayor of Amsterdam, he is Jewish.  Another school has been fired in Holland.
Holland is a very tiny country, smaller than Wales. i.e. Ria can take a short walk and do her Christmas shopping in Germany.  It must be a very frightening place at this time, especially for those who remember the Nazi occupation and for the small Jewish community in that country.

I gather also that the situation in Fallujah is now such that some of the general public who have been unable to leave that city have now joined the rebels.  One shopkeeper was interviewed by a BBC news reporter this morning and he said that he and others like him have now taken as much as they can stand and have joined the extremists.,  he saw his next door neighbours home destroyed and the family of 8 killed yesterday...He said it is his duty to fight against the invaders.  We must realise that there are various aspects to the situation there.  I feel for all concerned....especially those who could not escape the city, some had no-where to run and no money to do it. I will not get into the politics of this as I know we all have differing opinions and as Christians may we continue to love one another and Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem at this time.

Tomorrow is the 11th of November.  Heavenly Father forgive us.

Yours with a full heart.
In the Name of Jesus.

Jenny.

May all who visit this site find the love of God shed abroad in Jesus Name, who gave His life for the sins of all men everywhere.

May God the Holy Spirit reveal Himself in His Son Jesus Christ to all who come this way and are seeking peace, forgiveness and mercy.

Good morning, friends,

Jenny, such sobering news from your post! How sad to see Ria's beloved homeland in turmoil.

I must be at work long hours today - now I have not one but 2 deadlines, and the computer's not due to be fixed until 10 am.

If y'all have an HP laptop, and if you're having problems with it, we've learned from my experience that HP just put a bulletin out that some laptops were shipped with defective memory chips.

I kinda laughed yesterday and said that like its user, the computer seems to be having more and more problems with remembering what to do!  ;D

Y'all have a good day. I'll return this evening, if not too tired.

Hi Pat, Ruth Ann, Jenny,

I'm back after a few days of a hectic schedule.  I really missed reading the posts and working the puzzles.  Finally had time to upload a personal picture.  I'm not one to have my picture taken, but this was one at a Laua?  Hawaiian party at a local senior citizens home.
Guess it'll have to do.

Hope to have a little more time to join in here.  I still have leaves to burn and the trees on my hill to cut,  & wood to move for heating the house (they say it'll drop down into the lower 20's Thursday, so need to get that wood moved.) At least it's good exercise for staying in shape.

Will go browse for a while and hopefully pop back in later.

Good Morning , Than you Pat for posting today's devotional.  I love Paul's humility and his love of Christ.

Well another mortgage  broker told me that he cannot find 100% financing for me for a mobile home. I have 2 more places to contact and then I will stop. I prefer not to have all those uneccessary hits on my Credit report because it takes aways from the score. God is in control and if he doesn't want me to have this place then he has something better for me later on.

Fay came home yesterday, She is so determined to try to do things for herself. She was very excited to be at home. after 5 weeks int he hospitals I don't blame her. Today and tomorrow will be long days for me so I won;t get back her  but only in the mornings for awhile.

Jane I called you a couple of times last night but your line was busy, I will try again another time.

Hi Gwen, Ruthann, Pat, and Jenny. Love your photo gwen.

Beth and John, congratulations on becoming a twosome!  That is great.  You have taken the 'love your neighbor' to a whole other level and that is great!

Jenny, it is sad to think that Ria is living so close to turmoil.  And I found out that a neighbor boy that I have known since birth is in Fallujah.  I knew he had been to Iraq fighting and I knew he was home but was called back.  I didn't realize he was in Fallujah until yesterday.  Brings things to a personal perspective to know someone who is there fighting for the world's freedom.  And, yes, he is a great Christian guy!

Gwen, I thought you were wearing a lei.  Have you been to Hawaii?  Awesome place.  Everyone should go to Hawaii at least once in their lifetime.  I see that you are in Arkansas.  I have a step-son and his family living in Shirley, 38.5 miles south of you.

Ruth Ann, you would think that the cost of pc's would make them more reliable but that isn't always the case.  But it is still mind-boggling the advancement in electronics in the last 12 years since I retired from electronics.  Hope you got both deadlines accomplished in record time.

Marilyn, God is in control.  He knows what is best for you.  He will provide.  Tell Fay hello and tell her we are so glad she is home again.

Ivalou called yesterday while I was eating lunch and asked me if I wanted to go to Kohl's?  Sure, why not?  So off to a shopping experience.  I only purchased a really soft pillow for the couch but with all the %'s off, it was really cheap!  But, of course, the beginning price was way overpriced!!!

Another sunny cool day in Indiana.

Good morning.  We had a nice rain last night, so everything is wet outside.  We needed it!

Gwen, nice photo--lovely looking lady, and we are so glad you are back!  I hope you get all those chores done.  I surely know how that is!  I have felt like I've been "chasing my tail" this week, trying to get lots of things done.

Ria, I'm so sorry about all the turmoil the Muslims are creating in your dear homeland.  We are praying for your safety in this time of storm.  (((hugs)))

Jenny, I hope you realize that a lot of the news you hear is skewed to the left, big time!  We know that everyone (civilians) in Fallujah had ample warning and time to leave the city before the assault began.  We also know that the Iraqis are so happy to have our troops there, they are doing all kinds of humanitarian work, and guarding schools and hospitals, building the infrastructure of the country, in general being a saving force for that poor, embattled country.  It is sad that so many terrorists from so many other countries have rushed into Iraq to cause more trouble and try to keep them from becoming a free country.   I regret every death of every innocent, and I also realize that is part of the price of war.  But our guys are doing EVERTYHING possible to prevent loss of innocent life.

That said, I love you, Jenny---just had to get that off my chest!  :-*

Papa John, I was awake during the night and was thinking about you.  I'm so sorry you have had to live with pain for years, but the verses you posted yesterday contain such bright promise for us all.  Hallelujah!  No more pain!  Won't heaven be wonderful?

Marilyn, keep your hope in Him.  He surely has a plan for you, and your living arrangements.

Ruth Ann, with the twists and turns your life has been taking lately, you are DUE that vacation!  I'm so glad you will get to be away a while and "regroup."  God bless.

Back to that framing!  I'm gaining on it!

Oops, I almost tripped over you, Etta Sue!  Good to see you today, and I love those emails you have been sending me!

Hi everyone.  I will try to write more today as have just read through the messages.  I was planning on going to Calvin Cove today but am short of breath again today and don't think I have the breath to lead in singing so called and canceled for this week.  I hate to miss as know they enjoy the singing but the director has a couple of tapes that she can use and they can sing from the song sheets with the tapes.  I started breathing better last evening and hoped to get in some walking today but the problem has returned.  I will see my internist tomorrow afternoon.

Beth, I was delighted to read your bubbling message and the following one from John.  It sounds like you are bringing each other a lot of joy.  John, it is great that you are going to be able to visit Beth for the Christmas holidays.

Janet, hope your framing goes well today and that it doesn't cause you additional pain.  I was just thinking how fortunate it was that the W.C. problem occurred before you all left on your trip.

Etta Sue, we do a lot of our shopping at Kohl's as they seem to have good prices and quality merchandise.  That is where we have done the majority of our Christmas shopping the last couple of years.  Enjoy your sunny cool day.  We are having the same and we had our first frost of the season last evening.

Marilyn, I know you are saddened that the loans have not yet been approved but don't lose hope.  I agree with you that if it isn't met to be then the loan denials are a good thing.  Glad to read that Fay was able to come home.

Gwen, I think that is a very nice photo and it is nice to have a face to relate to the name.  I can't image trying to move wood.  Hope that goes well.  A wood fire certainly keeps one warm.

Etta Sue, sure understand the frustration of having a computer that doesn't work.  I am surprised your company doesn't backup your data nightly and have a spare computer with your programs on it.  Do hope they were able to fix it today and that you are not overly stressed.  You can't get the work done if you don't have the tools to use.

Jenny, the situation in Iraq is indeed difficult but I agree with Janet that the news media is working really hard to be sure we see only the dark side of the situation.  War is always ugly.  The USA, Great Britian and the other countries that have sent troops are paying a tremendous price to try to bring a better life for many people.  I fully understand that we each see the siatuation from the perspective of our own background and the information we have and that we all will have our own opinions.  Amen to your second posting.

Pat, thanks for the devotional this morning and the new word and letter games.

Nita, if you are having trouble with your C-Pap machine you might want to try using the "Breathe-Right" strips on your nose.  My wife used the C-Pap for several years and started having such difficulty with her eyes that she had to stop using it and found that using the strip each night allowed her to breath much better and to get adequate rest.  Your tiredness certainly could be due to your sleep apnea.  Your grandson being with you is going to help you stay young.

Jane, congrats on the new great-grandchild.  I can certainly relate a bit to your family situation.  You have quite a group of grandchildren and great grandchildren.  We have only one granddaughter and a step grandson.  We now have two great grandchildren and in a matter of weeks will have a step great grandchild.

JudyMc, good to see you posting and hope you are feeling reasonably well although understand that your arm is probably bothering you.  You are always a bright ray of sunshine here.

Sonja, hope Zachery had good news from his doctor and that your photo shoot went well.  Are you still having snow out your way?

Chris, thanks once again for the Tozar devotional thoughts.  There can certainly be little doubt that satan is very busy creating chaos over this entire world.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Larry Hanna

I thought I was probably done posting on CP for today but just read something that my wife forwarded to me that she received in e-mail that is very beautiful and brought a tear to my eye.  This is fairly long but it is worth reading to the end and the music is beautiful as well.  Just click on the following link.

A Beautiful Story

gwen

Etta Sue, I've only been to Hawaii once and it was more years ago than I care to remember.  I'm sure it has all changed so much since we were there.

Marilyn, I'm glad you liked the photo.  It isn't current, but I don't think I've changed very much...a few more wrinkles maybe. I sure hope you get your loan.

Janet, do we ever get all our chores done?  Just when I think I'm going to get caught up, here come three more I'd completely forgotten about. I did get some of the trees on my hill cut down.  Usually take me about two solid weeks to finish it. I think I'm getting too old for this kind of hard labor.

Larry, here's my woodpile. We heat the house almost exclusively with wood in the winter.  We have a heat pump but it's electric and only runs when it gets below 10 degrees.  I love the warmness of a wood stove and am willing to haul it in and the ashes out.

Hi Marilyn, and all. Good morning from another foggy BC day.

Marilyn, you've probably thought of all this already, but I'm wondering - when we bought our first house 4 years ago (we were close to 50 years old and had never owned much except our cars and personal belongings), we did have a savings accound for retirement (something like that), and we were able to borrow against the value of that for the downpayment (I think, I'm not sure exactly how it worked).  It wasn't a big savings account, but it gave us just enough to squeak by and put down a small down-payment - otherwise we would not have been able to buy a house, as financing 100% was not an option for us.  I never looked at buying a house in the USA when we lived there, but aren't there options for first time buyers out there, where you can get by with putting down a very small portion (e.g. 5%) for downpayment?  My brother bought his house a couple years ago (in Chicago) by getting two loans, one for the downpayment, the other for the mortgage.  It seems to me there have to be options out there for you.  But, I don't know your whole situation, so I'm probably just talking dumb here.

I really hope everything works out well for you, Marilyn.

Take care,

Ursula

@Jenny, I very much agree with you that we all need to pray for peace, everywhere.  I very much like what you said, "Father, forgive us all."

@Janet and Larry, I do agree that the media is trying to do a good job, but I also think that people are never entirely objective, and that the media is not immune to this.  The media of any country, including the US media, is going to present things slanted in that countries interest, that countries point of view.  And words are powerful, they take on a life of their own.  I think it is interesting to note that what is "liberation" for one group, is "occupation" or "invasion" for another; what's "insurgent" for one group is "freedom-fighter" for another.  IMVHO, I don't think "good intentions" are necessarily so good often.  I also think that violence breeds more violence; problems are not solved by violent means, not in my family, not in my community, not in the world at large.  That's why I think it's so important to keep praying for peace, for peaceful solutions by peaceful means.  I also think, again IMVHO, that it's simply too easy to blame stuff with which we don't agree on "the left".

And I am SO GLAD that we Christians are able to express differing opinions and have different opinions on worldly issues :)

Janet

Larry, I'm so glad you are feeling enough better to post your interesting post today.  Now, that didn't sound the way I meant it---I meant your LONGER interesting post!  Your posts are always so enjoyable.

I took Beth to the doctor this morning, and he was really surprised how much better she's doing.  He said "You're doing awesome!"  He gave her some samples of Fosamax, because he said one of the side effects of the steriods is thinning of the bones.  So good of him to give her samples, because that drug is VERY costly.  He also gave her a form to fill out to the pharmaceutical company, asking them to supply her with that drug.  Such a nice young man!  He was in Beth's younger sister, Kerri's class in high school, now here he is doctoring us! ;D ;D  How time flies!

Ursula, I do not agree that our country's media slant things to look good for our country.  Quite the opposite is true, except for a few outlets such as Fox News.  That said, I agree that it is good we can express differing opinions and still be friends.

Well, back to the framing!!

A grin for today...........

I've been hauling trash for years, so when the sign "Garbage" appeared on a trash can, I replaced it with my own note: "After 20 years on the job, I know garbage when I see it!" I emptied the can and left. The next week, a new note appeared on the same can: "Dear Professor Trash, the garbage can is the garbage!"

Spiritual Warfare and Sin: Preparation Is Vital

Moreover David said, "The Lord, who delivered me from the paw of the
lion and from the paw of the bear, He will deliver me from the hand
of this Philistine."
--1 Samuel 17:37

The whole Bible and all past history unite to teach that battles are
always won before the armies take the field. The critical moment for
any army is not the day it engages the foe in actual combat; it is
the day before or the month before or the year before....

Preparation is vital. The rule is, prepare or fail. Luck and bluster
will do for a while, but the law will catch up with us sooner or
later, usually sooner....

It did not take Moses long to lead the children of Israel out
through the Red Sea to deliverance and freedom; but his fittedness
to lead them out was the result of years of hard discipline. It
took David only a few minutes to dispose of Goliath; but he had
beaten the giant long before in the person of the lion and the
bear....

Preparation is vital. Let this be noted by everyone. We can seek
God today and get prepared to meet temptation tomorrow; but if we
meet the enemy without first having met God, the outcome is not
conjectural; the issue is already decided. We can only lose.  The
Next Chapter After the Last, 77-79.

"Lord, quiet my heart this morning and feed me from Your Word. I
can't enter the battle of today without this vital preparation.
Help me even in the busiest of days to maintain this discipline of
preparation. Amen."

Give of your best to the Master;
Give of the strength of your youth.
Throw your soul's fresh, glowing ardor
Into the battle for truth.
Jesus has set the example,
Dauntless was He, young and brave.
Give Him your loyal devotion;
Give Him the best that you have.

Give of your best to the Master;
Give of the strength of your youth.
Clad in salvation's full armor,
Join in the battle for truth.

Give of your best to the Master;
Give Him first place in your heart.

Consecrate every part.
Give, and to you will be given;

Gratefully seeking to serve Him,

Hi Ursula...   For the whole time until recently, I did all of the locking of the doors and the opening of the new New Every Morning.  I found that I was getting a little burned out so three moderators now are on the schedule.  Janet on Monday evening, Al Moak on Wednesday evening and Soni on Friday evening.  I do the rest.  Now, on Thursday, Judy McKenna and Norm and I are going to Toronto to the Royal Winter Fair so Etta Sue is going to do it for me on Thursday evening.  And last week, I was able to holler, 'Soni, please help!" and she did!  We have a great group of moderators on this site.  I don't know what I'd do without them to tell you the truth.  They just keep the site ticking along.

Larry, please look after yourself.  I'm praying for you daily.

You beat me to it and sounded better too, Pat.  I am not a writer, I am sure you all can tell.  I wish I was.  Oh well. We all have our own gifts.

Larry, sorry you are out of breath.  Take it easy today.  Zachery is feeling better.  He went to the doctor yesterday but the doc was in surgery, so he has to go back next week.

Not much, just taking a few minutes to relax.

Nita - I'm another C-Pap user.  I was diagnosed with severe sleep apnea about 3 years ago (when diagnosed, 127 apneas per hour).  Being able to use it has literally changed my life.  I don't fall asleep in church now (that's kinda important for a preacher :-) ), don't take naps in the daytime, and am not grumpy like I was getting the last year before diagnosis.  I found that the mask that they gave me at first was just terrible.  I could not use it at all, and it started irritating my nose.  I then did some research at www.sleepnet.com reading through the forums there, I found out about the Breeze system.  It has just two nose plugs, and a band that loops over (without touching) your forehead, and is held in place that way.  There is no problem with keeping the seal as it is nose plugs, not the big bulky triangle thing.  If they didn't talk to you about that, I would go back in and tell them that you are interested in trying one out.  Many many people at sleepnet also agree about the Breeze system.  Also, make sure the technician does a proper adjustment and fitting for you and also shows you how to adjust the mask as well.  Hopefully this helps, and if you have other questions, feel free to ask.
A watched clock never boils.

Aha!  Thanks for the answer about the moderators :)

@Soni, are you a member at Digital Image Cafe and Digital Photography Contest?  It seems that the same group of people are members at both these two sites and Betterphoto.  Very good group of photographers.

I just had the most wonderful chat with Mieka!  She is doing well.  She's on a family trip and is flying out in a few hours.  She was just going to go and have her breakfast.

I think that she mentioned absolutely everyone here and wanted me to say "Hello" to you all.

She was especially upset, Larry, to know that you aren't keeping the best and she wanted me to let you know that she will pray for you.

She's wanting to know about Karmat's baby.

Anyway, I just said "Bye Bye" to her.
