JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Another Remembrance/Veterans Day thought...

Morning Devotional...

But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross.
Gal. 6:14

The Victoria Cross is perhaps the most renowned medal for bravery. Recipients are rare and most who won it did so at the cost of their life.

Alone, one recipient charged three machine gun nests, dying as the last one surrendered.

Another rescued his aircrew from their burning plane but perished himself in the flames.

Written on the Victoria Cross is the simple phrase "for valor."

God has charged us to battle for Him, to carry the good news of the gospel to the perishing. We should be doing it for a cross too--His cross. In light of His sacrifice we should be prepared to sacrifice as well.

How often we fail for a simple lack of valor.

God forgive us.
                                                                --S. McEachern

No Coward Soul Is Mine
Emily Bronte

No coward soul is mine,
No trembler in the world's storm-troubled sphere:
I see Heaven's glories shine,
And faith shines equal, arming me from fear.

O God within my breast,
Almighty, ever-present Deity!
Life--that in me has rest,
As I--undying Life--have Power in Thee!

Vain are the thousand creeds
That move men's hearts: unutterably vain;
Worthless as withered weeds,
Or idlest froth amid the boundless main,

To waken doubt in one
Holding so fast by thine infinity;
So surely anchored on
The steadfast rock of immortality.

With wide-embracing love
Thy spirit animates eternal years,
Pervades and broods above,
Changes, sustains, dissolves, creates, and rears.

Though earth and man were gone,
And suns and universes ceased to be,
And Thou wert left alone,
Every existence would exist in Thee.

There is not room for Death,
Nor atom that his might could render void:
Thou--Thou art Being and Breath,
And what Thou art may never be destroyed.

Sisters Rachelle and Judy.............

Well done, you have it corrrect.

Oh wow, am I ever in a world of hurt.  Ouch, ouch, ouch.  I felt like having a cup of hot chocolate, so I just made it and thought, well, I'll take my evening meds (Niaspan) with it.  I totally forgot that anything hot activates the niacin, and the body burns like you are in an oven.  I'm beet red red and on fire.  Oh boy do I need a cold shower right now.

This hymn is so easy I have to desguise it with a clue only. It's a big clue though.  I remind you, it's just a clue.

Sister PaT........

I watched a program tonight on the "Medal of Honor" and several recipients acts of heroism were told in an interview with each of them.  Having served in two major wars, I felt a sense of closeness with them.  THese brave men were, as they admit, only the ones that were recognized, and untold thousands of real heros stories will never be told.  I broke into tears :'( when a black fella told his story and then spoke of his sons, two of which were in college at the time.  He then spoke of his wife being killed in a traffic accident by a drunk driver.  He cried and said:  "I miss her so". :'(

Jenny

9.30 a.m.England.
Lee.
I have shed a few tears over the last few days of Remembrance also.

On  the radio yesterday they told the true story of a lad of 13, who joined up in the 1st W.W.  He was Irish, told them he was 18.  He died just after his 14th birthday, in France......more "gun-fodder".

As I am still feelin rather unwell, please forgive if you don't see me for a couple of days.  Christopher is going to get me an anti-glare screen for this lap-top.  That might help. Also the sun is shining here today, always a "lift" to the spirits.

God bless and keep you all in His love,
Jenny.

Nita

Good morning, Jenny (You're the only one I see. :))  Please take care of yourself.  I'm sorry you aren't feeling so well.

I haven't felt very wordy lately..haha......but come and see what others have written.

It's about 1:45 am here.  I was in bed, but couldn't sleep, so got back up.  I've been up awhile, so think I'll try again.

 Blessings from the Oregon Coast.....nita

'What shall I do then with Jesus which is called Christ?'

Matthew Chapter 27 Verse 22

He is without doubt my Best Friend. There is nothing I enjoy more than being in His company. This week I have found that difficult. I am not aware of backsliding as such nor of any particular sin that I am committing that would keep His presence from me, yet I am not so aware of His comfort and fellowship as I was.

I read and study His Word and find little to write or think about. My mind seems to be a vacant spiritual void at present.

'What shall I do then with Jesus which is called Christ?'
What is a Christian to do in such circumstances? Well it is all too easy to become depressed in spirit. It is easy for our heads to drop and for us to give up on an active spiritual life.

It seems as though our witness, our zeal has become stale. Have I become greedy for an extra portion of manna? Am I making good use of what is spread before me daily?

The older I become the more I tend to cross-examine my thoughts, my motives and my actions. Am I living for Jesus or for my own selfish ends? Do I indulge my left hand be parading what my right hand is doing?

Am I fervent in my petitions of simply good at repeating my requests? Do I actually believe that what I am asking for, God is willing to give?

'What shall I do then with Jesus which is called Christ?'

Am I redeeming my time? Do I still hold grudges or am I pleading with God for the salvation of those who have wronged me? Am I loving my enemies as commanded? Do I only call upon His name in earnest with things go wrong?

I talk to Him all the day long, sometimes He even whispers to me through the night watches. He never turns me away and never gets fed up with my company.

Yet it seems there are times such as this week when He travels such a distance from me that I am acutely aware of loneliness and helplessness. I am bereft of spiritual comfort.

Often I moan and groan my way through a day, yet He is not put off. He is my Saviour Redeemer having died where I should have died. I didn't know Him then but He knew me. I was a stranger and He took me in.

I was naked and He clothed me. I was hungry and He fed me. I was dirty and He cleaned me. He asked nothing in return but that I follow Him wherever He leads me.

He has led me to some wonderful places. Fountains of living water, streams in the desert and He even made me to sit down under His shadow, which was a delight. His fruit was sweet to my taste and His banner over me was love.

Where now are these days? Will they ever return? I must be patient today and await His return. It is the only way.

He is a great Teacher although I have often found the training difficult. The lessons gleaned have been better than silver or gold. I have to admit that I am a poor pupil and He has often had to teach me the same lesson over and over again. He is always very patient with me.

Sometimes when I have been lonely or afraid, He will put His arm around me and whisper, 'it is I be not afraid.' He always seems to be there when I need Him the most.

He never lets me down and never fails with any of His promises. He always says the right thing to my soul at the right time.

He loves when I read of His wonderful story. He loves it when I tell others about Him. He loves it when I sing praises to His name. He loves me best of all when I am at complete rest in Him.

I love to meet new brothers and sisters. It is great for us to talk about our Best Friend. His gifts are beyond words. Who can put a value on love, joy, peace or forgiveness? I can only thank my Best Friend for purchasing these wonderful gifts for me through His own death.

'What shall I do then with Jesus which is called Christ?'

Well I am learning. If He should return to me today I will gladly and eagerly embrace Him. What will you do with Jesus which is called Christ?

Quote'What shall I do then with Jesus which is called Christ?'

Good Morning Everyone!

I'm nearly ready to leave for the day.  Just thought I'd drop in and say, "Howdy!"

What a good verse, Iain!  What shall we do then with Jesus!?  I'm going to be thinking of that today as I travel to Toronto.

Hello to the rest of you.  Talk to you all tonight.

Jenny, take care. I hope you feel better soon.

Pat, drive safely and I hope the treatments today are not as painful.

I read and absorb so many of the wonderful comments and devotionals that are brought to our attention here.

Sometimes it isn't possible to attend church and, while I never wish to abandon church and my friends, y'all certainly provide fellowship, too.

My love and prayers to all.

Papa John

Good morning.  Good to see each one today.

Today is the first day this week that I don't have to rush and get ready to go somewhere.

Rom 1:5  Through him and for his name's sake, we received grace and apostleship to call people from among all the Gentiles to the obedience that comes from faith.  (NIV)

I am thankful this morning that through the grace of God we have been called so that we may have salvation.

Etta Sue

I don't think there is much more beauty in this world than seeing our country's flag flying high.  Veteran's day brought out a lot of flags.  It is a shame that they cost so much.  They should be less costly so EVERYONE could fly a flag.  If you don't live in America, I am sure that you feel the same about your country and it's flag.

Marilyn ~ Bebe turns off the TV.  :D  Ali turns on my touch lamp!  I got home last night and it was on.  She turned it on this morning while I was reading my Bible.

Joyce ~ That is terrible about your Mom.  I will pray that both of you receive comfort while dealing with this fall.

JudyB ~ Your OH WOW post gave me chill bumps.  God is good!  I will be praying for the long road ahead for Melaura to be complete and short.

Jane ~ So happy to read that your MRI came back normal.  Praying that the rest of your tests are normal as well.  Keep on keeping on!

Larry ~ Jerry tends to think that nothing changes.  He said he sees fine...just has a focusing problem.  Well, it was discovered that one eye is far-sighted and the other-near sighted.  I am sure the glasses will help him.  He hadn't had an exam since 1981!!!  Wow!  Anyway, the glasses are his birthday and Christmas gift from me.

Chris ~ Great advice for Ria with the anniversary of her husband's death coming soon.  I wish I had said it!

Papa John ~ Did you tell your physicians that it wasn't luck that you are still around?  Lots of prayers from all over the world worked wonders but I like Mieka's view best....your heart is so big, so the mansion in heaven has to be so big to hold you and it isn't done yet!  I love that thought.

Lee ~ My mother had a 10-inch rod and 5 screws in her left leg and she said she could never go on an airplane.  She had never been on a plane and I think this was her excuse in later years.  Do you have to carry papers to tell about the interior metal you have?

Pinkie ~ Every time I have my mammogram, I think.....'Men had to design this machine...no woman would put this torture on another woman'.  But if you had any cysts before the mammogram, they would be gone afterwards!!!

Jeanne ~ Great that you had a kid-filled day.  Love your smiley's, too!

Sarah ~ Take care of those bruises.  Pray that no breaks come while sporting!!

Karma ~ It seems that in today's society, EVERYONE has the middle name of SUE.  Sue for this, sue for that.  One of the reasons why some parents lets their children raise themselves is because they think they will be sued if they discipline their child.  Sad.

Nita ~ Good morning way out there in Oregon!!

Iain ~ Good morning.  Great devotion!

Pat ~ Have a great trip to Toronto.  I am meeting our friend today for lunch...Donna Marie.  We are allowing plenty of time for conversation and the camera is in the car!

Last evening was a great evening spent with our small group.  We are all growing closer and hopefully, will continue our small group meeting after the 40 days are over....even if it is only once a month.

It was raining last evening and kind of foggy...not a great evening to be driving in the dark.  Double glare!

Ruth Ann Pat is having a fun day in Toronto Aat the Winter Fair.  It used to be called the Royal Canadian Winter Fair, but I am not sure if it still is called that.  This will be a fun day for her and Judy Mc, looking at farm desplays and animals.  I wonder if she will watch any horce jumping competitions?

Lee I remember mom used to take niacin.  She would complain of the heat it created too.  I am sorry you forgot!  BTW I have "no clue" about your clue!

Jenny I prayed last night that you would have a sunny day today.  I well pray you feel better to be able to enjoy it.

Ria, Is it sunny there also?  I prayed it would be for you too.  Sunny days always lift the spirits.

Marilyn please let us know as soon as you hear the results from Fran.

Melaura had a bad night of nightmares and flashbacks.  She is grumpy this AM,  Pray for her as she walks through this season in her life.

We will be gone till late, we have The Baytone's practise tonight.  They are singing at a nursing home.  I think this is the beginning of the Christmas preformances.  Melaura enjoys this choir, and they have taken her under their wing. ;D.  They are a group of senior ladies, she is the youngest in the group.

it is cloudy and overcast in the north.  I sent all the sun to Europe! ! !

Good Morning JudyB I don't know how soon I will be hearing anything on Fran. I will probably have to call my BL myself, and he doesn't hear very well and may not know who I am when Ido call. I am hoping that one of the other nieces will be there with him to answer the phone.

Thank you Pat and Iain for the devotionals today.

Must go read the other forums now will get back to y-all later.

Janet

We have a cold front moving into the area today.  We have had really great weather these past two days, up into the 70s!  So we shouldn't complain now about it getting colder (but I'm sure a lot will! :))

Lee, your trip report was interesting.  Was the last thing you posted, the __ee, __ee.....Free, Free?  That's all I can think of at the moment that fits!  Beth had a 16" titanium rod with screws in her leg, following the car accident she was in a few years ago, but it didn't set off the alarm at the airport!  We were really surprised, because they said it would, and she had the documentation for it ready to show.  She also has two Greenfield filters in her chest, but so far, they haven't set the alarms off, either.  She has cards about those, too.

Pat, I hope you and Judy Mc have a wonderful day at the fair, and that the weather is nice, too.  You sure deserve a day off!

I am going to visit Abby's class again this afternoon.  I have some business in their town, and I enjoyed visiting her class so much, I want to do it again!  Maybe her teacher will have something I can help her do today.  I called last night to tell her I am coming.

I have been painting more this week.  I have several wood projects I want to finish, so have been working on those.  Keeps me off the computer!  ;)

Rachelle, I'm sorry your daughter was wrongly accused, then her apology was not accepted.  What twisted values those parents are teaching their children!  It is so sad, but you can feel good knowing you are teaching your children right.  Too bad the person at the skating rink started the whole mess.  Not good.  WE should pray for all of them-----"those who falsely accuse us."  I hope this unfortunate incident will not take the joy out of skating for her!  Hugs to you both.

Papa John, I'm glad you get to stay home and take it easy today.  Such days are nice!

Larry---hello to you, when you pop in later!

Nita, always good to hear from you!

Hi, Etta Sue!  What a great frined you are, to help Jerry so much.  Bet he wouldn't trade you for a speckled pup! (My parents used that phrase a lot.)

I need to get busy on laundry, etc. so I will be caught up before I leave about noon.

Hi Ruth Ann, Ria, Jenny, Karma, Sonja, JudyB, and the rest of you wonderful CP friends!

My book Rising Above available at JanetDamon.com

karmat

Good afternoon all.  I am at work, and it is busy right now, but it seems to be slowing down some.

I don't have anything to say.   :-\

Lee, the only thing I could think of was 5 little piggies -- Wee, Wee, Wee all the way home.  I'm the mother of a toddler, whatdoexpect!!!

Papa John

Etta Sue, yes I talked with the doctor about the prayers and he agreed with me.  In fact he said if he were ever in the condition I was in he would like to have the list of people who were praying for me.

Ria.........

Your comments about the Jews is very prophetic.  The Lord tells us that the Jews will be hated by all nations and they will assemble together against her (Israel).  The only peoples in the world that truly support the Jew are Christians.  Because of this world wide hate (A new holocaust against them), every Jew in the world will make aliah (Returnto Israel).  Our Lord has said this. Not one Jew in the world will be safe from the total antisemitism in the world.  Yep, you hit the nail on the head.

My daughter Dian and Dick Ironside, a retired West Point Colonel, just received their first copies of a book they wrote about West Point.  I'm in awe at the professionalism in the writing of this inside story.  Dian gave me the first hard cover copy.  Here's a copy of part my letter to her this morning.........

"I found the book to be an enchanting experience into the lives of American kids who were transported from home to the regimen of military life.  Having
experienced three boot camps, and military life during two major wars, I was able to relate to some of their experiences.  I've laughed, teared, and felt a deep sense of pride in our kids who I know will one day lead our nation in it's greatest struggle to come.  I'm very proud of you my lovely daughter, and I feel as though I know Dick.  The book was assembled with skill of heart, deep thought, and professionalism, and I have a sense of having been something like a "Peeping Tom" as your book weaves it's way into the lives of these rascals we love so dearly."

If you have stopped by to see my recent pics you will recall that there is a picture called "Kathy's flowers"  Kathy is a YOUNG lady - maybe middle 40's who has been battling cancer for the past 7 years.  Just recently she was hospitalized with new lesions on her brain and liver.  A few days ago she was discharged to a nursing home and put on hospice.  Today she called me and said she wants a ride to church!  WHAT A TROUPER!  This lady was put on hospice once before...in 1997!  She said she's ready to go on to meet Jesus now, but she is already a walking miracle!

Hi everyone.  Not feeling real great today so will probably make this short as really don't have much to say.  Spent the morning at the car dealership having oil changed and then stopped at Sams' to return an iron Pat bought there yesterday that she didn't like when she got it home.  I rested the better back of three hours this afternoon and have to do some practicing on the Vivaldi "Gloria" before choir practice tonight.  See you all tomorrow.

JudyB...
In reference to your little saying that your family taught you:  "Appologise for the situation."  My father had a saying too, and altho it may not be very Christian, it certainly was applicable in a variety of circumstances and seemed to sooth the savage beast in difficult situations:  "Consider the source"
That would definately work in Rachelle's situation.  Those people had no business going off on that little child like that!  So when you 'consider the source' you might figure that they had issues that they were themselves dealing with.
