Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

November 14 - When the Pressure is On

"Then they that feared the Lord spake often one to another: and the Lord hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the Lord, and that thought upon his name."
(Malachi 3:16)

Have you ever noticed that those who have the most exciting, faith-inspiring testimonies are those who've been under pressure at some time in their lives? They're the people who stayed faithful when the pressure was on. They're the people who believed God's promises of prosperity in the midst of desperate financial situations or trusted God for healing in the face of a terminal disease.

My friend, when you get into a hard spot, that's not the time to back out on God and begin to say, "Well, God, why did You let this happen to me?" It's not the time to step back and reevaluate His faithfulness.

What I'm saying to you is this: When tough times keep dragging on and the situations around you seem to refuse to get in line with the promises of God, don't reevaluate God! He's not missing it, and He's not failing.

If you're going to reevaluate anything, reevaluate yourself! Look and see where you may have failed. If you still can't find out what the problem is, just say, "God, I don't know what's wrong here, and I'm asking You to show me. But one thing I know, the problem's not with You, and I continue to be moved by Your Word and not by circumstances." Then, when He reveals something to you, be quick to make changes.

I want to encourage you to stand firm and to keep honoring God with your words. The Lord is listening to you when the pressure is on. What is He going to hear?

Thanks, Janet ... This is so true.  God is unchanging ... He is always faithful, true, compassionate, loving, forgiving,  ... He is an AWESOME GOD and "the problem is not with Him"
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

 :) Hi ms Janet.

I like the devotional today.

Hi ms Marilyn and ms Jane.  :)

I did have a most wonderful day today.  I did get to share a time with many friends and watch them sing and share the treasure of the laughter.  There are none so rich as ones who know the love of so many friends all around. I know I am most fortunate.

Tonight my friend did have a troubles.  I am sad of it and with all my heart I do not know why some must take from others.  I pray God will hear what I have in my heart tonight.  I pray if good things will grow from this time of a problem for my friend.   :-[

:) I did read from every one tonight.  You are all so much fun.  I did try to make a shout too, and I did goof it.   ??? ::)

I wish you all a very good day.    8)

With all my heart,  mi   <3

I can recall when everything is going wrong and I'm busy trying to "fix" it... and still more things keep going wrong....I suddenly realize that Satan is trying to mess up my life....  This usually happens when God starts using me for something.

When I finally realize what is going one, I rebuke Satan in the name of Jesus....and go about my business content that I'm under God's protective umbrella.

Which brings to mind the thought that a pastor and his family must always be under assualt since God uses them all the time.  I must remember to pray for my pastor MORE.

I didn't keep notes but I will try to remember.....

Larry ~ I have kitty teeth marks on mini-blinds also.  They are really good kitties...they are getting older so they don't bite and chew like they used to do.  And the church has many folding chairs.  I just need to go get one.  But if this sciatic nerve keeps on, I may have to invest in one of those cane/stools that I see in catalogs.

JudyB ~ That is what I was thinking about...a small electric heater.  One that I can use when sitting here at the computer.

Janet ~ When my mother was released from the hospital after an auto accident, I thought when I came up to visit that she would greet me at the door.  That didn't happen.  She was unable to walk at all.  I know how you could be disillusioned.  But thank God that Beth is home and can do some for herself.  As for the mobile home and gas line removed...how dare they?  They should be responsible to replace the pipe!

Jane ~ I figured that you lived in a wooded area to have moss growing on your roof!  Not good for wood.  But you have a plus in the views that you see daily!  Wow!

Ruth Ann ~ Hope you get your anemia straightened out.  It isn't fun growing old, is it?

Karma ~ Watch those Christmas ads that will be coming for a new pc.  You might find a really good deal!

Mieka ~ I am so happy to see you posting again.  Love your ability to make everyone heart smile!  God Bless You.

Papa John ~ I like that ....Murphree Hotel...and you do seem to have 'No Vacancy' a lot!  Keeps you young, right?

Marilyn ~ You are very active.  I can't imagine myself being on a trampoline.  I have never had a broken bone yet and too old to have one now!!!  At least, not on a trampoline.

Teresa Dawn ~ Your bring a breath of sunshine to the forum.  Keep it up!

Ed ~ Good Morning.  Yes, our Pastors are under assault from Satan all the time.  We must keep them in our prayers.

Okay, I am sure I missed someone and I apologize for that.

Ivalou and I are going to MCL for lunch and then to Hobby Lobby to see if there is anything we can't live without.  I love being with Ivalou.

Good Morning to everyone. Etta Sue, Larry, Al, Pat, Sue, Ruth, Ruthie, Janet, Jane, Nita, Papa John, Carol, Ruth Ann, Teresa Dawn, Nards, Karmat, Anna Banana, Ed, Kittykins, Ittybitty, And all those I can't think of right now.

Toady my knee does not hurt. Praise the Lord! I woke up with a headache but is gone now too. God is so Good and will always answer our prayers.

I spoke with my son's FIL and he is still pretty upbeat, He knows God in in control and that he will be healed. He said the they put pins in his fingers as well as sewing them back on. It was his left hand and he expects to be going back to work in just a few weeks. He works for the Mobile Medical, he drives it as well as does some of the Medical Assistant stuff like taking the vitals doing prep work. He had the accident with his table saw.

That's the news from here this morning. The sun is out and it looks like a beautiful day out there.

Good Morning Folks!

It's just such a rainy day here today.  We've even had a weather report that there's going to be LOTS of rain.

How are you all?

I'm so sorry to read about your son's father-in-law, Marilyn.  Just awful.

Mieka, it's great to see you here and love seeing you posting more.  Keep it up girl!

Thanks Janet for opening today's New Every Morning.  (I fixed your link for you)   <3

Hi Jane!  Is it raining as hard as it is here in Coos Bay? ::)

Nice to see you here today, Ed.  Yes, our pastors really need to be prayed for daily and often during the day.

Etta Sue, I'm going to surprise you sometime and turn up so I can go on a jaunt with you and Ivalou.  I so loved meeting her in Calgary.

Janet

Good morning to everyone Martilyn named, plus  our dear MIEKA!!  It's such a joy to read your cheerful posts.  Now, please come in with a question or two, and make us THINK!  <3

I am running again today (what else is new?)  I just got home from my workout and getting Beth's prescriptions; getting her set up for continuing therapy here, etc.  Now I will go look for some white paint, go into town and start painting the ceilings of Darrel's mobile home.  I hate what smokers do to a place.   :P  Yucky yellow brown stuff on every surface.  Disgusting..........  I hope it isn't too cold to work in there.  We are having very strong winds and cold temps today.

I need to stop on the work in time to shower, wash my hair and dress for the Thanksgiving dinner at the care home.  Lunch may be very sparse today, which will be good for me anyway.

Etta Sue, I agree they should have to replace the pipe, but it isn't going to happen, at least without them ripping us off to the tune of $500.00.  :tickedoff: :tickedoff:

Darrel had to go get a special stainless steel, rubber coated pipe with fittings to connect from the pipe they will put back in to the trailer.  He had to drive 45 miles, plus pay $40.00 for that!   :tickedoff: :tickedoff:  I will be glad to get everything done, it is enough to give a person a headache.  But I am NOT going to get one, because God is in control.  :)

Gotta get moving again before I get stiffened up!  :clobber:

Thanks Marilyn & Etta Sue.  Well, I'm gonna go up and visit my nana later today.  It's raining and I have a lot of stuff to bring up there, which means I'm gonna have to drive.  (I don't like driving really, would much prefer to walk up there.)  Gotta get some laundry done and get some labels in the post before I go up there though.

I've been transferring my figure skating video tapes to computer files so I don't loose them as my VCR seems to destroy tapes after about 3 plays (Seems like it's time for a new VCR lol, but some of the tapes are getting pretty old now anyways, so I am not sure the VCR would solve the problem completely)  Takes a long time to do this, but I don't have to sit and watch, and it can run while I am out and getting other stuff done.  I'd like to get the tapes labelled as well though.  I have about 400 tapes that are unlabelled and I don't know what's on them (other than it's mostly ice skating stuff, but which year, competition, skaters etc, I have no idea)

Marilyn, happy to hear that your son's father in law seems to be recovering quickly.  I'll keep praying for him :)

See you all later :)
God Bless,
Teresa Dawn

Hi everyone.  We still have warm weather here but it is overcast today.  I think it will be about 20 degrees cooler tomorrow.

I am testing out some software in preparation for writing a review for our computer user group newsletters.  This software lets you use a laptop or another computer as a second, third or fourth monitor that is controlled by the desktop keyboard and mouse.  It is really cool.  I am using my laptop as a third monitor.  They have a trial version but the company gave me a full version and license since I agreed to do the review.  I found it very handy this morning when I had some webwork to accomplish. Here is the link to the trial version of the software called MaxiVista:  http://download.maxivista.com

Pat, I hope you are able to stay dry today.  It sounds like winter weather is fast approaching.

Marilyn, glad that you are feeling better today.  So sorry to read of the problems of your son's father-in-law.  That sounds so painful.

Etta Sue, I went to a Hobby Lobby store yesterday for my wife and that is such a large store.  Fortunately what she needed was directly back from the front door so didn't have to do too much walking.

Ed, you are so right on the need to keep our pastor's in prayer.

Mieka, sorry to read that your friend experienced something unpleasant.  It sounds like you are having a good time.

Janet, I think that many of us can relate to your devotional thoughts today.  It sounds like it is going to be very cold out your way so stay warm.

Ruth Ann, sorry to hear of the anemia returning but at least now you know what to work on.  Your other reports sound good.

Papa John, know you have enjoyed your visitors but also know that it is always a relief when we can return to our regular routine.

Anna, so nice to see you posting and joining here in our discussion.  I hope you will post often so we can get to know you.

Karmat, the last computer I bought for my daughter was one that came with Linux and was $159.  I simply replaced the operating system with her Windows XP since the other computer was toast and it is operating very well.  Fortunately the cost of computers have really come down.

JudyB, I agree with you about the little electric heater.  I have a little one that we use in the bathroom in the morning and it runs maybe 5-10 minutes and warms up the area and then turns itself off.  It was less than $20.

Teresa Dawn, good luck with your VCR transfers.

Well I guess I had better get a quick bite to eat.  Will just have a very light lunch as we are going later today to Cracker Barrel with friends for an early dinner.

Seems like with our stormy weather, this hymn might help us get through it.

From Every Stormy Wind
(Click to hear music)

Author:  Hugh Stowell, 1799-1865
Musician: Thomas Hastings, 1784-1872

And there I will meet with thee, and I will commune with
thee from above the mercy seat, from between
the two cherubims which are upon the ark of the testimony,
of all things which I will give thee in commandment unto the children of Israel.
Exodus 25:22

From every stormy wind that blows,
From every swelling tide of woes,
There is a calm, a sure retreat;
'Tis found beneath the mercy seat.

There is a place where Jesus sheds
The oil of gladness on our heads;
A place than all besides more sweet;
It is the blood bought mercy seat.

There is a scene where spirits blend,
Where friend holds fellowship with friend;
Though sundered far, by faith they meet
Around one common mercy seat.

There, there, on eagles' wings we soar,
And time and sense seem all no more;
And heaven comes down, our souls to greet,
And glory crowns the mercy seat.

Oh, let my hand forget her skill,
My tongue be silent, cold, and still,
This bounding heart forget to beat,
If I forget the mercy seat!

Hi everyone.... hope the day has been (or is being) good to you all.

I'm relaxing at home after a long hard day at the office, and I am quickly finding this to be a place of great comfort and cheer.  Thank you all once again for such a wonderful and warm welcome!

Hi everyone.  I'm back. :)  I'm on a different compuer, and I am connected using Verision DSL.  I was on the phone all morning trying to get the connection to go through, talked with a tech 3 times with no help, and then instead of shutting down the modem and computer for 6 hours, as he said I must do, I tried one more time and it went through.  I know they just read from a book, but, but I just didn't believe I needed to power down for 6 hours.  I was right. haha

The plumbing problem was corrected with just more snaking, so I'm washing clothes that piled up over the weekend.

Angel and her mom, Kim, are spending the day out in the sunshine. (or not) I'm not sure what they're doing, but I would guess it has to do with shopping, as that's Angel's favorite pasttime.  Dogs are sleeping, and I'm here at the computer, changing email address, updating favorties, etc. The very first to be corrected was CP, of course.  ;D

Pat, I hadn't heard that song before.  But I know about the Mercy Seat. I've been there plenty of times.

gotta run...company. love, nita

I can only imagine what it will be like,
When I walk by Your side
I can only imagine what my eyes will see,
When Your Face is before me!
I can only imagine.  I can only imagine.

Refrain
Surrounded by Your Glory, what will my heart feel?
Will I dance for you, Jesus?  Or in awe of You, be still?
Will I stand in Your presence, or to my knees will I fall?
Will I sing Hallelujah?  Will I be able to speak at all?
I can only imagine!  I can only imagine!

I can only imagine, when that day comes,
When I find myself standing in the Son.
I can only imagine, when all I will do,
Is forever, forever worship You!
I can only imagine!  I can only imagine!

Refrain
Surrounded by Your Glory, what will my heart feel?
Will I dance for you, Jesus?  Or in awe of You, be still?
Will I stand in Your presence, or to my knees will I fall?
Will I sing Hallelujah?  Will I be able to speak at all?

Hi all.  Larry - I have one of those little electric heaters in the bathroom also - probably have it on about the same time you do!

Ed - I wanted to add my comment as a pastor.  We SURELY DO appreciate prayer on our behalf.  But we just as greatly appreciate prayer on behalf of every other church member as well - makes it more fruitful to preach and teach.  And we desire so very much to see our God glorified by the fruitfulness of His people!

Hi everyone... and a special welcome to Anna.  I love "Dawn's Early Light" that is on top of this page.... beautiful.  Where was it taken, Anna?

Had a lovely day today, inspite of the rain.  I took a close friend out for her birthday lunch.....we had Greek food.  Have any f you had "Baclava" for dessert?  YUM.., sure is the way to end a good lunch!  At this restaurant, its called :  "Happy Endings"!

Hope everyone is doing well.

Love to all.... Judy M.

AnnaBanana, in case I didn't say this before---WELCOME!!  So good to have you with us!  My little granddaughter Abby has a little friend at school whom they call AnnaBanana, too.  ;) :members:

Well, it was too cold to paint today, so I had to postpone that job until the weather warms up or until we get the gas connected, whichever comes first.  So I tore my living room apart, cleaned and moved furniture and tried to make room for the new couch that will be delivered on Friday.

The dinner at the care home was nice, and I especially enjoyed the great piano music played by a lady.  She was playing lots of the old songs I learned when I was a kid.  I think there was only one I didn't know the words to, and I sang along......quietly, of course.

I certainly agree that our pastors---and their wives and children---need our prayers every day!  And it is always good to remember our fellow Christians, too.  We will NEVER run short of things for which to pray!

I want to read more in my new book "Body Clutter" from FlyLady!  Good night!

Welcome AnnaBananna!  Where do you live in England?  I live in Fort Collins, Colorado - that is a state with 14 really high mountains and lots of lesser mountains.  My city is north of Denver and just south of Cheyenne, Wyoming.  We have all seasons here and lots of sunshine -

Pat: Well, we do have snow and actually it has snowed quite a lot but that is about a two hour drive into the mountains.  We can see the wind whipping up the tops and it looks wild out there and has been that way for two days.  Those black jujubes can pull a tooth out   :o

Etta Sue Our church has us going up and down so much that we are always happy to sit for the sermon  :)  Here is a site on some exercises for sciatica if you know what is causing it     http://www.spine-health.com/topics/conserv/sciaex/sciaex01.html

Jane:  No mold on our roofs  :D  Sorry, just had to say that.  We lived in Eugene for nine months when Don worked for Shell Oil - not one day off during that entire time & he had mono & it rained every day.  It actually rained much more than my home town of Seattle so I know what you have - and you have lovely fresh air!

So many things going on here and I have a class tomorrow afternoon and the morning exercises make me sleepy in the afternoon.  Then, we visit daughter for a few days & I am bringing a sewing machine to have granddaughter work on a flannel quilt.  Actually, I visit as Don has an annual meeting in Colorado Springs - this is the yearly fancy one where he always stays at the Broadmoor.  Spouses are not allowed.  That's O.K. with me.  I would have to change my jeans.

Well, tornadoes were touching down all around our county, but none in my county. So, although the rain was fierce and the wind even more angry and threatening, we made it through the storms just fine. I was thinking of the song, "Till the Storm Passes By." That was one of my husband's favorites.

Like Annabanana, I've had an extremely busy day at work, so will close and rest a bit.

Y'all have a good evening.
