JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Morning Devotional...

My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?
Psalm 42:2

David declares three times in the Psalms "I thirst" to express his own yearning to be in God's presence.

The Lord spoke only seven brief times from the cross, yet one of them was "I thirst".

Certainly, Psalm 69:21 had to be fulfilled, "they gave me vinegar to drink", but perhaps His declaration "I thirst" was more associated with His yearning to be with His Father.

Hebrews 12:2 informs us that "for the joy that was set before Him, He endured the cross, despising the shame".

We too can learn from Him that thirsting for God brings joy into suffering, both now and in the glory.

On the Lamb our souls are resting,
What His love no tongue can say,
All our sins, so great, so many,
In His blood are washed away.

Sweetest rest and peace have filled us,
Sweeter praise than tongue can tell;
God is satisfied with Jesus,
We are satisfied as well.

Conscience now no more condemns us,
For His own most precious blood
Once for all has washed and cleansed us,
Cleansed us in the eyes of God.

Filled with this sweet peace forever,
On we go, through strife and care,
Till we find that peace around us
In the Lamb's high glory there.

What wonderful words to that hymn!  The words of this verse especially...

Good morning to any and all.  It isn't raining at the moment, though it's supposed to be raining at least on and off for the next five days.  By the way you easterners - anything we get you'll get in a few days.

God be praised - He still gives me work to do for His glory!  It seems our pastor will be gone on the 13th, so he wants me to fill in for him.  I guess what you do is to keep preaching until you can't stand up in front anymore.  It's 44 years for me now.  I'd appreciate prayer that I'd make God's Word clear and applicable to His people.

Thanks Pat for getting the devotional up this morning. I tried to help a bit  so I posted something I found on the internet at Heartlight.

I have an appointment at the hairdresser this afternoon for a trim and some frosting. It has been 5 months since my last appointment. Then it is Bible Study tonight for #4 in the series by John Bevere on The Bait of Satan.

I just saw a ZEBRA!!!  I wasn't sleepy last night when I went to bed so I got up and there were all kinds of animals at Pete's Pond.  It's like a zoo out there!!!  Thanks, Pat!  I sure wish they would keep it going instead of stopping it in December.  I wonder if they will have a cam somewhere else when they stop this one?

I have a crock pot full of Texas Chili.  It is smelling soooooo good.  Ivalou is coming over to help me eat it and I called Kaye Don and Barb but they are gone.  Too bad....their loss.

I'll be back tonight!

Etta Sue - you are unfair!  Entirely!  I can smell that crock pot from here.  I like that stuff.  How can you not send me some?  And to think - you yourself said that you'll need help eating it.  So send me some cybernetically.  Awww come on!

Hi everyone.  I am awaiting the arrival of my son, who is going to start the pressure washing of our house today.  That is quite a job so don't expect that he will want to try to finish it all in one day.  It has been about two years since we had that done and the mildew has accumlunated in several places.  It doesn't hurt anything since we have vinyl siding but it looks unpleasant.  He had planned to join me for coffee but called me at the cafe around 8:45 and said he had just awoken and since it is still a bit chilly would wait a little while before coming over.

Today is going to be a busy day.  Pat has gone to the church to work on the crafts they are preparing for the sale to our members before and after church on Sunday.  They have made some truly lovely items and any money raised is used to benefit our seniors ministry, including the Valentine's Banquet held for us each year.

This evening we are going to eat dinner at the church and then attend a special meeting with the pastor to discuss stewardship.  He has been having a series of these meetings since mid-October.  It also gives him a way to meet more of the members of the church.  Following that I have choir.

Al, I am glad you have the opportunity to preach on the 13th.

Pat, thanks for the devotional today.  How many days a month does it take you to do your Avon?

Marilyn, sorry to hear of the frustration with the bill payment.  The late payments and interest fees charged by credit card companies is scandalous.  Of course, I am sure the bank accepted no responsibility and suppose they blamed it on the Post Office for the delay in delivery.

Marilyn, airline fares make no sense at all and they really get you if you don't make reservations very far in advance.  Your Red Hat affair sounds like it will be very enjoyable.

Tbear, it sounds like your closing went well and you now own one less home.  I know the feeling of relief when that day comes.

Etta Sue, what a crowd.  Also it sounds like everyone had a wonderful time.  Maybe next time they will put out a few chairs.  I would hate to have to stand for 2 1/2 hours.  Like Al, I would be happy to help you eat that Texas chili.  I think my wife is planning on making chili later today, unless she is too tired from her crafting this morning.

Nita, what is a gazelle (not the animal but what you have in your house)?  I am glad your daughter found solace in the grief couseling.

Hi Nards and all who join us today.

Janet

Hi, folks!  I have had a really good workout (45 minutes of fast, uphill walking, plus weight lifting and sit-ups) and now have showered, washed my hair and am all dressed in my red and purple to go to the Red Hat Tea.  8)

I had Pete's Pond for a while the other night, now I can't find it again, except the page from National Geographic, and I want just that webcam.  Any suggestions?

Pat, we are going to Northern Mexico and the Copper Canyon, right after Christmas.  And sure you can come!  You, too, Nita!  It will be FUN!!  ;D

Beth called yesterday evening and they are working her hard.  I hope she gets a lot of benefit from this rehab.  She really needs to get some mobility back.

No news from the Kansas front today.  I will check back in later.

My, I wish you could have seen that room full of ladies in red hats!  It was breathtaking!  Carol has a really long dining dable that seats 24, and we needed more seating.  She had a small table for 6, so everyone had a place to sit.  She had made all kinds of fancy foods:  scones with cream cheese and jam, raisin biscuits, petit fours, tiny cream puffs, tiny sandwiches (4 or 5 kinds), fruit tray, vegetable tray, dips, two kinds of tea.........oh, my.  It was really hard for me to resist eating all I wanted, but I don't want to undo what I am working so hard to accomplish.  Anyway, it was fun!  ;D

I'm off to finish that tray I'm painting.  While I paint, I will listen to the tape of the cantata we are practicing for Christmas.  See you later!

Hi, friends,

I'm just stopping by for a moment to catch my breath. It's certainly been a busy day at work, and my day starts tomorrow with a 6:30 a.m. doctor appt.

Will report about my foot after I see him.

Love to everyone who comes this way.
