JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Morning Devotional...

The eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward Him.
2 Chronicles 16:9

Satan, this very moment, is lurking about like a hungry lion (1 Pet. 5:8).

Do you hear his intimidating roar today?

But be encouraged. While Satan "walks" our Sovereign "runs," with His eyes going to and fro.

The Lord is there before the enemy. And as Satan seeks to devour, our Lord seeks to defend.

May we find comfort in knowing that we are under His watchful care.
--B. Cretney

The mighty roar, ferocious beast; the lion walks from west to east,
From north to south, his gaping mouth accusing night and day.
But Christ is here with all His power, which keeps me safe each passing hour,
All fears dispel; that hound of hell goes trembling on his way.

Well, I just know I missed the cyber dinner with BETH!  Drats!  I'm always late.  Now you're gonna miss my dish.  I figured if ETTA SUE could bring cornbread salad (sounds yummy, by the way), then I'd bring my famous lettuce bread.  But now I can't and you won't get to try it.

We had a nice dinner, my Kyle and me. (grandson) Very traditional, only less: Turkey breast (we both like the white meat), gravy, stuffing, mashed potatoes, raw veggies with dip, green beans and rolls.  Oh yes.....and pumpkin pie. Can't forget the pumpkin pie.  And SONI was right!!  I had only a few dishes! :)  I still have left over everything, so my daughter and grandaughter can come and eat with us tomorrow.

Pat, today's devotional is such a good reminder that satan is always prowling.....ever wanting to increase his own kingdom...and looking for backdoors the Christian may have left open.   Our wonderful Lord is such a good door closer....IF we hear His leading and repent quickly.  I din't think the devil can come past a surrendered soul.  There's something about the cross that drives him crazy. :)  Praise God, we are the victors over evil....if we are IN CHRIST.

ETTA SUE.....I think I might have said it before, but everytime I read one of your posts about you and Ivalou, your sweet relationship, I feel so good.  I love it.  I have that kind of relationship with my sisters, only they're not close like yours is.  Isn't it such a wonderful blessing that you are so close and love each other so much?  God sure is good to you, girl.

MARILYN, I have a niece who's husband was Mexican.  Well, he still is, but he isn't her husband now.  But.....she speaks fluent Spanish(Mexican)and learned to love the food and is an excellent cook.  My sister lives with her now, and said the Thanksgiving dinner they were having is all Mexican food and made fresh.  It sounded scrumptious.

AND.....you are a good mother.  I can read in your posts how much you love Giilbert.    God has restored lots of things for me too, and I don't ever want to forget.  I know you feel the same.  I just wanted you to know that you are really a wonderful sister and special in your job of caring for people and, well, I'm blessed to know you.

JEANNE LEE stop breaking things and get back here. :)  We miss you.

Thanks for the neat site, CHRIS.   Why can't I do something so beautiful??  Probably because I'm not disciplined enough to learn it all?    Never mind.....you don't have to answer. haha

Heh, gi joe.....where are you?  I'm waiting for some of your photography too. :)

ok...I've rambled enough.  I wish I could remember who all posted on the last page, so I could say hi, but I'm saying it anyway...and you know I'm saying it to you.  ok?

Hi, and good night to Everyone. ;D ;D

      love, Nita

Logar

Good morning everyone, my thoughts this morning are this, everyday is Thanksgiving Day. I have so much to be thankful for, God has truly blessed me. I try to give thanks to him everyday; He is my God and my confidant. He knows my doubts and fears. I thank God for helping me when I couldn’t help myself. Have a blessed day.

Thank you so much, Logar.  What you say is so very true.  Every day is Thanksgiving Day and the verse in Psalm 30:12 says, O LORD my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever.

and of course the very familiar verse, 1 Thessalonians 5:18 says, In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

Thanks so much, Logar for your thoughts here today.

Draw Me Nearer
(Click to hear music)

Author: Fanny J. Crosby, 1820-1915
Musician: William H. Doane, 1832-1915

I am Thine, O Lord, I have heard Thy voice,
And it told Thy love to me;
But I long to rise in the arms of faith
And be closer drawn to Thee.

Refrain
Draw me nearer, nearer blessed Lord,
To the cross where Thou hast died.
Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer blessed Lord,
To Thy precious, bleeding side.

Consecrate me now to Thy service, Lord,
By the power of grace divine;
Let my soul look up with a steadfast hope,
And my will be lost in Thine.

Refrain

O the pure delight of a single hour
That before Thy throne I spend,
When I kneel in prayer, and with Thee, my God
I commune as friend with friend!

Refrain

There are depths of love that I cannot know
Till I cross the narrow sea;
There are heights of joy that I may not reach
Till I rest in peace with Thee.

Refrain

Pat:  Thanks for the uplifting song of Draw Me Nearer....

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving Day.  All of the food was outstanding and my turkey finished right on time.  Our granddaughter has been with us since Sunday as school was out and she had an idea of everyone writing down what we are thankful for - it was a hit and now we will do this every year.  I wrote - Morning, Noon and Night without thinking and truly this is what I feel.  Every day is a thankful day. There are concerns for one in the family over his job - we are thankful that at least there may be a notice.

I will try to check in on everyone's posts for the last 4 days.  Now to finish the cleaning I started last night and wash all the bedding.

Good Morning: Thank you at for the devotional today. Yes Thank you God that you do see and know everything.

I am hoping that my paycheck will arrive today. I got it all straightened out with the payroll department. She told me that it was the computer that kicked out my hours as incorrect, and not to worry that I would receive all my pay. Here it is almost time to turn in another timesheet adn they haven't sent me one.

Must go now.

Beth ~ You certainly do have much to be thankful for.  Your attitude is amazing.  My kind of gal.

Chris ~ Thanks for the link to 'The Goodness of Life'.  I, too, sent it to a bunch of my friends.

Pat ~ As I was sending out the email to the link that Chris showed to us, I was thinking about Jeanne and then the next post tells us that she has broken her arm.  So sad.

Larry ~ I am sure there are a lot of leftovers over America today.  The cook deserves a break after cooking all that food.  A great time was had by all at Ivalou's.  Now her house is empty of people but full of memories.

Marilyn ~ Did you have Turkey Tamles?  ;)  Sounds like my kind of meal.....love Mexican food.

Nita ~ Lettuce Bread?  I have never heard of such.  I think you need to visit the Recipe section and submit your recipe for Lettuce Bread.  And thanks for saying what you did about Ivalou and I.  She is my bestest friend in the whole wide world.  I can always count on her.  We are totally opposites but we know our boundaries and definitely do not step over them.  I can tell her anything and know that it won't go farther.

Nards ~ Poor computer.  Sure hope the computer doctor gets it well soon.  We miss you guys on CP.  But we are thankful that you can and do send us messages while you are both at work.  But we need pictures.....   ::)

Carol ~ When one is to write down what they are thankful for really makes one think that we truly are blessed in many ways.

I am thankful that Jerry was here to spend his birthday and Thanksgiving with me and my family.  His son called him on his birthday and his daughter called him on Thanksgiving.  That made him a happy man.  He has left for his home now.  He is anxious to see Pretty Cat...a cat he has kind of adopted that roams the trailer park.  She is a lot more loving than my two kitties.  He likes that.

BTW. Ivalou had 22 at her table yesterday and we all did have a table to sit at and eat.  14 around her big table and two card tables with chairs.  All in her family room!  I told her someday my house may become her annex for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners!  That is okay with me!

Spiritual Warfare and Sin: The Devil's Taunts

There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ
Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the
Spirit.
--Romans 8:1

God knows that sin is a terrible thing-and the devil knows it, too.
So he follows us around and as long as we will permit it, he will
taunt us about our past sins.

As for myself, I have learned to talk back to him on this score. I
say, "Yes, Devil, sin is terrible-but I remind you that I got it
from you! And I remind you, Devil, that everything good--
forgiveness and cleansing and blessing-everything that is good I
have freely received from Jesus Christ!"

Everything that is bad and that is against me I got from the
devil--so why should he have the effrontery and the brass to argue
with me about it? Yet he will do it because he is the devil, and
he is committed to keeping God's children shut up in a little
cage, their wings clipped so that they can never fly!  I Talk Back
to the Devil, 6.

"Thank You again this morning, Father, for Your marvelous
'forgiveness and cleansing and blessing.' I've often heard those
taunts from the Devil; thank You for Your grace that completely
silences him. Amen."

Hi everyone.  It is a truly beautiful morning here in Georgia.  It was down to 30 degrees this morning and we had a hard frost but it has now warmed up.  Pat got up early and went shopping at Kohl's for about an hour.  She came home exhausted and had to take a little nap.  She said the crowds were extreme and the checkout lines (6 of them) extending about 3/4th of the way back into the store.  They had on the news that some people started lining up at the shopping centers as early as 2 am.  It appears that insanity has taken over some people.  Sure not worth it to me.

Marilyn, I also love Mexican food although not sure I have ever eaten any authenic Mexican food.  It has been the Americanized version, but I still like it.  Do hope you get your paycheck today.

Etta Sue, sure glad Jerry's son and daughter called him.  Your sister's house must seem very empty today after having 22 there yesterday.

Logar, very good comments today.  We have so much to be thankful for if we will just do so.

Nita, I have never heard of lettuce bread either.  Were you pulling our leg?  :)

Pat, good devotional this morning as it reminds us that satan is always at work and that we must constantly be on guard.  That sounds like a nice outing today and hope you have a great time with your friends.

Carol, that is a very nice new tradition.

Nards, hope you get that computer fixed soon.

Well, Pat and I are going to go over to Lowe's Hardware to look for a Christmas present for our son and then may go on to the "Y".

Hope everyone has a great day.

Beth, what was your bird's perch made of?  Is your bird afraid of the dogs or is it the other way around.

Primrose

The birds perch is made out of wood and she eats wood.Dogs leave her alone she can bite hard so they do not mess with her,the cat tho  she bites him on the tail and he just looks at her as if to say"why did you do that?" Then he turns his head back and thats that.Beth

Nita

Good morning, dear ones.  Glad to come and see us all checking in.

Beth....I don't have birds, but I do have three little dogs around here.  Mama sleeps a lot and is very polite, but the puppies, Tai and Rocko, gallop around looking for trouble.  They're so cute.  They're my entertainment every night.  Right now they've worn themselves out and are sleeping.

Nita, I have never heard of lettuce bread either.  Were you pulling our leg?
Larry, you got me.  Yes, I was puling legs the best I could.  ;)  Etta Sue seemed to be ready for some lettuce bread, so I actually was considering going over the recipe section and concocting a recipe for that. :)

Oh, Logar.....to proclaim that God is your confidant!  We could have no greater aim or joy than to know that in secret times....my God is my true Confidant.  And as intimate times are, between confidants, He then reveals some of His secrets too.  Hallelujah!

Lord, let me be a Listener and discerner of your will and ways.....the secret things of God.

Chris, I have Tozer's book, I Talk Back To The Devil.  Boy, that's a faith builder, huh.  Oh, how I( love that Brother Tozer.

Hi Carol, Marilyn, :)

Pat I like what the devotional said.......the part where "satan walks, but God runs"  That's our Father.  Always watching out for us..

Marilyn

No turkey tamales. Chicken, Pork and beef. We also had the traditional turkey witht he works. I rold them next year they will also have to make the Sweet tamales with Raisins in them. Some one brought egg nog with whiskey in it and no one would drink it. Well maybe the couple who brough it drank some I don't know about them.

I am on my break and have rearrangerd my living romm and vacuumned the carperts in the  whole house. That is so easy to say and do, since this trailer is so small. I had to rearrange the living to accomodate the cable when they come to  install the computer modem. I had the tV on the opposite side from the cable.

TTYL must go back to work now.

Hi you all. It sounds as though everyone had a good day to eat their turkey and what have you.

Pat ~ Thank you for the birthday cake, but as luck would have it I wasn't home at the time, but I did hear from my son. He is stateside now and Nermin and his son have joined him. They will be going to Pittsburg from New Jersey. Their Jeep is there. He,Nermin and Daniel will fly from South Carolina to New Jersey. I heard from my daughter thanksgiving day and she said she and the boys would be over from Huber Heights, Ohio between now and Christmas.  ;)

I am on a new computer so I will leave my picture and profile turned on now. I probably won't talk any more, but at least you will know when I am lurking. ;D

Thank you Chris. I have a lot to put on my new computer yet, but it is nice. I just got a printer to work and I guess I will have to buy a scanner. I can print though.

Hi Marilyn. Thank you for saying hello to me.

DAVID JAY   Welcome to CP.

Papa John

Jerry, it is so good to see you in person again.  I  hope you are getting along well these days.  It is always good to hear from your family especially during these holidays.

We have had a quiet day here today.  We did go out to the Mall for awhile.  I found my seat and read my book.  Cornelia and Martha walked and we didn’t buy anything.  There were a lot of shoppers.

Good to see everyone today.  Welcome to David Jay.

Luke 17:12-17
12   As he was going into a village, ten men who had leprosy met him. They stood at a distance
13   and called out in a loud voice, "Jesus, Master, have pity on us!"
14   When he saw them, he said, "Go, show yourselves to the priests." And as they went, they were cleansed.
15   One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice.
16   He threw himself at Jesus' feet and thanked him -- and he was a Samaritan.
17   Jesus asked,  "Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine?  (NIV)

Papa John, must say you all were brave to go to the mall today.

Jerry, glad to see you online with your new computer.  Don't be a stranger.  Tell us about your new computer.

Marilyn, you are going to see a difference in speed with the cable.

Beth, thanks for the explanation regarding the bird.
